Not bad, but the other locations are better. Three stars for the convenience factor — really like the food truck drive thru — and the fact that it’s hard to make a bad kolache. That said the couple times I’ve been here the selections have been limited, and I’ve gotten ones that have been cold. However the food here IS good; the breakfast items and the berry/peach/apple kolaches are delish. This place gets 3 stars on the ‘CTJ Scale’, as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a meal here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK being seen eating here by Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus’ Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn’t have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn’t have my penultimate supper here, either.

Lame soup. I’ve been here quite a few times so I know what to expect. Other than the coffee tasting bitter, I usually drive away happily stuffing my face with kolaches as I make a grand effort to scurry to church on time. I always figured that Sundays are a safe day to go because the high demand for breakfast will keep the pastries fresh. Sadly not the case anymore. Lately my orders have been wrong as I’m pulling away. Which wouldn’t be a big deal, I never mind a little kolache roulette, but the taste really old. Crusty and dehydrated. I’ll keep giving this place a shot because I love the location. I just hope they get their act together.

The jalapeño sausage cheese kolaches are awesome! Best I’ve ever had. Can’t speak to anything else since that’s all I ever get.

They were out of most kolaches, the ones I got were cold and they weren’t even what I ordered. She charged me for and gave me more expensive kolaches that I didn’t order. They’re overpriced in general to begin with. There are plenty of other places to get kolaches from in Austin. I’d recommend trying any other place first.

Kolaches are decent at best. I purchased a few dozen for a large group and most of them were not warm throughout. The service is HORRIBLE! I accidentally called the Kolache Factory on Palmer and the 2(yes, 2!) people I spoke with did not speak English enough to tell me if they were located on 620. After a little more internet searching, I figured it out. After calling the Kolache Factory on 620, I was even more disappointed. I had to call 3 times. The first time it rang for 5 min. The 2nd time I called I was hung up on and the 3rd time I called I got a very unenthusiastic man on the phone who offered fruit and cream cheese Kolaches when I asked what I could purchase for someone with a cheese allergy. Really!!! He clearly knew nothing about their menu which is very limited! I won’t be going back!

We just moved here from Houston, and I was so excited to see the KF trailer when we were driving up 620. We got there 30 minutes before they closed, and they still had all the varieties that we wanted in stock. The three of us each ordered 2 kolaches, and the employee put them in 3 separate bags and labeled them for us. She was very friendly, and we will definitely be going back! I just wish they had the same policy as my KF back in Houston. From 1−2pm before they close, the kolaches are 50% off. ***DELICOUS: Our favorites are sausage gravy, ranchero, and bacon/egg/cheese. REVISIONS: I have been to the Austin location on 620 four times, and the first three times were wonderful. This morning they were out of bacon/egg/cheese, and I asked the lady at the window to heat them up for me, and they were all cold. Of course we didn’t find this out until we drove away and were a half a mile down the road. They are still delicious, it’s just the service might not always be spot on. Best to bring home and warm up yourself.

How dare you call my house at 9:45PM on 02/21/2014 acting like a little old lady. Tell me «I don’t understand why you have called me three times». Now I gather you are a little punk that gets his kick’s from call another business owner of a Kolache shop. I hope your supervisor/owner see this post and you get what you deserve. My husband was asleep and has to be up at 4:00 to be up at his shop. How you got our number is beyond me. But, it’s punks like you that don’t understand how this site hurts your business. Caller ID works kid– 512−335−2256 is the number that called my home on 02/21/2014 at 9:45PM

I would give them 5 stars but the selection choices were limited. The kolache’s we were able to get were very good. I really liked the blueberry and the sausage, egg & cheese ones.

I dare you to pass this joint and not stop on your way to… well wherever, that’s your business! Great kolaches, very friendly staff. I’m partial to the bacon/egg/cheese variety, but the sausage one is pretty good as well. I’m picky about my coffee, and whatever they are brewing here was okay. Careful driving through. if you have a large vehicle, you will have to do an Austin Powers«tooo do do dooo dooo» type turn around… I don’t know if I correctly wrote out that song, but I LOVEIT! Huge props for drive-thru workers who are friendly to inquisitive doggies :)

Went there today to use a Morgan’s Deal coupon… right off the bat, the guy working there was a total jerk and told me that my coupon had been redeemed, even though I had just purchased it. After arguing with him for 10min., then spending another 10min. calling up his boss/owner, I ended up being right after all. But did the guy working there apologize? No. He could’ve cared less. Lessons learned– not worth purchasing these deals… and definitely not going back to Kolache Factory.

I find it interesting that a previous reviewer had driven by the Kolache Factory trailer for years, since it’s been there for less than one! In that time, I have been to the trailer on multiple occasions, and can only report positive experiences of great, fresh kolaches, correct orders and friendly, quick service. I grew up on KF kolaches in Houston, and love that they’re so close here in Austin out here by the lake.

It was a rainy, ugly, and bitterly cold afternoon as I was coming back from Lakeway on 620. I had a long drive to go and my feet were soaking wet, so a hot, tasty Kolache or three sounded amazing! I had driven by this food truck/station for a few years, but never drove by 620 often enough to try it. Now that I drive past it on a twice daily(sometimes more) basis, I figured now was as good a time as any! Their open sign was on, but as soon as I pulled in, the drive-thru gives me an automated message that they were closed. The girl in the stand not 4 feet from my truck opens the window and says: «WECLOSEAT2.» I look at my phone. Its 2:01. I say: «Really? I know exactly what I want. Are you really going to turn me away for being one minute late?» She then says: «YEAH, sorry. I’m closed!». and shuts the window in my face. …Wow. Customer service FAIL. I wanted to quote Fry from Futurama and say: SHUTUPANDTAKEMYMONEY. Not only will I NEVER go to another Kolache Factory in Austin – ever – but I drove down the road 2 minutes and gave Rudy’s my business. I loved Rudy’s so much(see my review) that I now eat lunch there 5 days a week! Take that. Jerks.

I’ve been to this trailer about 5 times and I have a good feel for it. I like the Kolaches, but I have to say that this location is very prone to error. All the Kolaches look the same on the outside and they don’t bag different kinds separately. If you have your family over and they all want different kinds… good luck. Often times you will get a Kolache that you didn’t order instead of the one you did, and often times they are cold in the middle. Everything I mentioned could be fixed with a little training and a system in place to keep track of which ones are which. Hopefully that happens. This location is great for people stuck in traffic at 4 points. In and right back out onto 620.
