I visited Dr Bermudez for a minor discomfort issue. After reading online about how to treat and prevent my issue I have had 3 days with ZERO discomfort, but his answer was to refer me to a surgeon. He didn’t ask questions about possible causes or offer any possible home solutions. He just did like he always did and passed me off to someone else so they all get paid. This is the second time I’ve been glanced at for less than a minute and sent off to a specialist and told I’m fine. He couldn’t care less about my health or comfort as evidenced by hearing the phrase«Have I seen you before?» every single time I visited him. 10 times since April.

I normally do not write reviews. I decided to write a review for Dr. Bermudez, he really was kind, informative and really cared for my issue I was dealing with. I have been going to different Doctors for a long time. He really took the time to explain to me my problem and guide me with the best solution. He is a really good doctor, he really cares for his patients. The most important it did not seem it was just a business as most other doctors are, he cares, he takes his time, he gives you the information that you need and he is there to help you out as much as he can. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience. I will gladly and happily refer you to my friends or anyone else.

I took an appointment with Dr. Bermudez after ARC’s online appointment scheduler gave me a time with Dr. Perez but failed to actually get it into the clinic’s system. I was looking for a primary care physician but apparently Dr. Perez isn’t accepting new patients anyway. The whole situation was handled without apology or empathy for the inconvenience all people have taking time and money to visit a clinic. Dr. Bermudez’s manner and tone were just weird. I told him I am a vegan trying to get excellent nutrition but experiencing some circulation issues. I wondered if I should make lifestyle changes for some help with circulation, or perhaps have a thyroid test. Maybe it would be interesting to see a blood panel? I don’t think he was perturbed by me in particular. I think he’s just prone to getting into ego battles. Why did I choose to be vegan? –Longevity. What did I know about the world’s longest-lived people?(Thus began a joyless, frustrating pop quiz where he repeatedly demonstrated his special knowledge – so don’t go in quoting China Study or Eat to Live, ignoramuses!) I told him I also eat vegan and he told me I was doomed to failure in weight loss because vegans eat too much starch and it gets converted into insulin(here I meekly insert that I don’t eat many grains, I don’t eat potatoes, maybe too many beans). Totally not listened to at all. I explained that I have chilblains(kind of rare, but not really). «What is that(smirk)?» «Uhh. I don’t know the medical term for it, but – » «Try telling me what it is instead of diagnosing yourself.» Aaaargh! And this whole time, he has this self-righteous monotone of condescension, which I think he might be fantasizing comes off as «calm intellectual» but really reads«so weary of patients trying to be involved in their own health care». You think the doctor«God Complex» is a stereotype? Yeah, I thought, too. Without discussing ANY lifestyle changes as I had requested, he prescribed a calcium blocker for circulation. What is a calcium blocker? I said. Is that really the only option? «You came to a medical doctor, what were you looking for?» So he begins to refer me to a rheumatologist If you want to: — be listened to — explore non-pharmaceutical choices — feel intelligent and empowered Then keep looking. It’s a big city. The office on the whole was basically«old shabby but could be way worse» and the front desk staff was neither cheerful nor offensive. The clinic may be OK if you avoid Bermudez.

I came in aside from my primary care physician because of a nagging dry cough that was keeping me up in the middle of the night only. I asked if the DR was running on time and to that I got a yes. Yay I thought, since I had my two kids with me ages 5 and 3 and I knew we’d be having a timely visit. That said, they had to both go #2!!! After I took them, he made it very clear: «I’ve been WAITINGFORTENMINUTES.“he says to me, probably very annoyed at my bringing my kids with me to this appointment and making him WAIT. I apologized and joked that my one kid was going to pee her pants(which really I was trying to avoid a blow out at this point). Dr. B looked at my ears nose and throat and prescribed me an inhaler, Zithromax, Claritin, and codeine cough syrup. Said I had bronchitis and asthma. I asked how do you know to prescribe antibiotics without knowing what I have – viral or bacterial? I could tell he pushed aside all urge to be combative to my questions and tried very hard to be patient and keep his cool to such a questioning patient with two kids in the waiting room that had to go to the bathroom. He said I needed chest x rays to be sure and I agreed for the first time in the duration of ten minutes that this was a good idea and that he could call in the Rx’s to my pharmacist but that I would not be filling them UNTIL I’d get my x ray results back to be sure. I had to CALL his office to get my results: NORMAL. Bottom Line: Don’t over medicate yourselves people. don’t go out and spend $ 100 on meds you have no biological need for and potentially create a resistance to future antibiotics. Do Question your physician, regular care or not. as for my nagging cough. It’s gotten better with oregano oil, eucalyptus oil and Allergena under the tongue 3x a day. I attribute it to seasonal allergies and with my head elevated just a little at night I don’t cough any more. Next time I will see an ENT first or an ALLERGIST before I go through this rigamorole again.

He’s at ARC on Ben White now… LOVE him. Attentive, thorough and compassionate. The clinic has online access for appts and to send/get messages from the doctor. His nurse is sweet and does things quick but right!
