After using a hair stylist in Dallas for 25 years, I moved to Austin and needed someone new. I tried 6 hair dressers in Austin and no one could get my highlights the way I wanted them.
I saw a Groupon for Melanie and went to see her for a haircut. I was pretty gun shy at this point but I thought if she messes up my cut how bad can it be. My intention was to talk to her about the kind of highlights I wanted. After we started talking, I knew immediately she got it! I quickly scheduled another appointment and I have been going to her ever since then. I think it’s been at least two years. Now my sister and husband see her.
She is very professional and goes out of her way for her clients.
She has been a hair stylist for quite a while and I cannot imagine her doing anything but great work.
I just hope she doesn’t leave Austin because I find someone I like I am a loyal customer.
She’s just great!

Not only is Melanie one of the best and FASTEST perfectionists in the hair industry that I’ve ever met. (Gotta get it done, but never have the time) She is always on point w my color and cuts. She is even learning the technique I use for my hair extensions, so she can start doing them for me! Who does that ??? She also does Blo outs for me at a discounted price when I pay for a package!

I’ve been seeing Melanie for over 2 years, and she has done everything under the sun — at my request ;) So far I’ve had long brown hair, shorter blonde hair, longer hair with bangs, a bridal updo, and this past weekend I got a dark brown pixie cut! Melanie, I got 65 likes on my Facebook picture with my new do, and people at work said I look like a movie star (!!) and they love the color you picked: D It’s very nerve-​wracking to chop off all your hair, but Melanie (a) made sure it was what I wanted, and when I said yes, she (b) concentrated very hard and made sure it was 100% perfect! Every time I’ve brought in a picture, she has managed to make my hair look exactly like the picture — and it continues to look that way even after I get home and have to do it myself! She’s super professional, easy to talk to, incredibly talented, and reliable! I definitely recommend her :)

I came in because of groupon but Melanie gave me the best haircut and color of my life. It has grown out so well– I’m still going strong 4 months later! :) I will definitely be back.

New to Austin, initially I went to Melanie through a living social voucher. I then went to some other salons for deals and have found no other salon that do as good as a job as Melanie. I love her online scheduling. The salon location, on N. Lamar, is within easy access. The salon is cute and hip, good surrounding and generally good tunes playing. Nice to have a complimentary beverage ready for me, as I’m usually running my a$$ off before I get there. Melanie is a no-​nonsense Yankee but I appreciate that :)
Technique wise, I go for cuts and colors and haven’t been dissapointed yet. I’m the wishy washy type and don’t give too much guidance to my stylist, but she always manages to make it work, and in a very good way. She does an awesome blow out also.
So, started with an initial visit and have been going back for a good year now…

The living social voucher brought me there as well. I was looking for a new place, closer to where I live now. I thought that everything felt rushed. The person who cut my hair did an ok job on the length of my hair. But the way that she cut my bangs was less skilled than what I’ve seen in the past. It was not a complicated cut, no layers. I was disappointed and will not go back there again.

Groupon brought me here as well. Melanie was personable and friendly and very professional. She gave me the cut I asked for and some tips on proper blow-​drying technique. I liked that she was conversational, but not overly chatty. I felt really comfortable and definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a great hairstylist.

I went to have my hair cut by Melanie through a Groupon. I almost canceled because I was in the middle of moving and stressed out but was so happy I went. She’s a no bullshit professional who is very good at what she does. I just needed a basic haircut but I have had plenty of stylists screw it up. She was fast, pleasant, and cared about her work. She was also one of the few stylists who styled my hair in a way I liked. Highly recommend her!

I’m another Groupon initiate! First impressions are important to me, so Melanie’s convenient website and appointment-​setting tools helped me pick a time and date that worked for me without wasting either my time or hers trying to synch schedules and calendars. When I showed up, Melanie opened the door before I even got there and escorted me upstairs to her salon seat. She was great about asking me (and actually listening to) what I wanted to do with my hair — even when I waffled between chopping it short and leaving it long. She was patient with my various hair complaints, and genuinely did a great job working with my coarse, wavy, thick hair. She was conversational without being too chatty, and was very friendly. You can tell that, in addition to being an outstanding stylist with extensive experience, Melanie really cares about good customer service — and understands how to provide it, too. I highly recommend her!

I first went to JSP Hair with Melanie as a result of a Groupon. I have a hair stylist but thought I would try something different and the price was right. I was impressed that she not only did a great job on the color and cut but was a true stylist. She advised on a better look for my face which I loved. Many times you just get the same thing over and over again. She’s professional, on time, and does a great job! I have been back. Try her out today.
