Had the burger sliders — excellent! The most comfortable bar stools! We live in Orlando, FL and plan to come here in Feb. 2017 to watch the Superbowl! Love J Blacks!

Great place to grab a drink and a bite to eat. Staff is friendly and drinks/good good. Try the Texas trio! Good happy hour menu and prices.

Food was mediocre for brunch. They had«brioche» French toast that came out on normal bread. Go to a diner instead

There’s great food here, great drinks, great atmosphere, and a great happy hour. Can’t think of a single reason I wouldn’t come back – except that my sister got drunk and became that weirdo who cries on a bar and ruined the good time vibe in the place. Lol. But even with that being said the staff here kept polite and treated her with hospitality. And that’s awesome. There’s a bartender here named Levi, who gave me great advice about Austin, and even though we were meant to be leaving to go somewhere else, we stayed because Levi’s service was so great! We had the hummus – and it was soooo good I was using cocktail toothpicks to scoop it up after we devoured the pita ha ha. Would have drank it… if I could of. J. Blacks! GREAT place!

We reserved a private space for my best friends bachelorette party early-ish in the evening to have some food and drinks before going out for the night. Got awful service– slow, inattentive, forgetful, generally not personable. Our reservation was from 7 – 8:30. We arrived on time and we got our first round of drinks at 7:45. The space definitely wasn’t suited for the 13 people we had in our group. 13 girls were squished onto 1 couch, 4 chairs and a few awkwardly placed bar stools. The server for our party was never around– we had to go to the bar for most of our drinks. Food was okay– nothing to write home about. A couple great bartenders(Vance!) saved the experience for us.

This place is strictly average. I was there for Monday night football. The service was average. Had beet salad that was drenched in dressing and shy on the beets. Had the pizza which was at best average — there is no such thing as bad pizza, right? The ambiance was OK, but nothing special. While it was not terrible, I can see no reason to return given the other options in Austin.

First time to Austin, it’s a great place with breezy outdoor seating or indoor comfort. We tried the calamari, the steak and Gorgonzola pizza, quesadillas and steak frites. Everything was delicious! The waitress was fun and easy going. Outdoor has tv’s for sports, and there is good music throughout. I definitely recommend and hope to visit again on future trips

Trying them out for brunch; great spot with an open feel and a nice mini patio. View of all the craziness on west 6th, and a small but well planned menu

Pizza and salad with wine for dinner, it was excellent. Not too crowded on weekday evenings. Friend liked the beer. Nice lounge to hang out and chill.

I’ve been to this place a couple of times with friends. It’s just okay. The food was decent and the service was decent — nothing great or memorable. I think it is very loud, so it’s not really a place to go on a Friday night if you’re looking to have an intimate conversation.

Good food, good derive, nice atmosphere. Had the migas for brunch. Not too cheesy, which a lot of places like to over do. It came with a side of fruit, which was also fresh tasting. Drank some mimosas, very enjoyable. Date had the French toast with sausage. It was a huge serving of French toast, I think 3 slices? You can definitely share that with someone else. Ordered Mexican corn. It was a bit too saucy for my liking but still enjoyable. Atmosphere was chill. The music wasn’t blaring in your ears like a lot of bars like to do. It looked like they were dog friendly since they had a water bowl out for a dog. Definitely will return.

So the pizza is good and half price on Friday’s but whoa! The heartburn almost knocked me out all day! Otherwise, the service was good but it took a while and we got there early, noone was there! the long wait for food was kind of weird since we were the only ones there. Overall, a really good value at $ 6 for a pizza on Fridays.

Came to W. 6th and needed a bite to eat before drinking. Surprisingly the chicken quesadillas ROCKED! The guacamole was very tasty as well.

YUM. Yard bird sliders. Def would enjoy again. Crispy. Full of flavor. Beef sliders were good too. Wings — spicy, yum. Grilled cheese appy — would pass again– not my thing. Hubby enjoyed it. Waitress was friendly and nice. Porch is enjoyable, has a TV Would pop in again when in Austin.

Not a bad place to go for happy hour. Their food is good and their drinks are pretty strong. Staff could be more attentive though. Good stop if you’re bar hopping.

Friday’s half off pizzas! Pizzas are more than enough for two people of average size to share. I had the omnivore and it was delicious. First time to eat there and first time I actually remembered being there.

We came here to watch the world cup. The place was packed, but that didn’t seem to be a problem. The group of us had a pizza, beef nachos, and quesadillas. We also managed to grace the poor waitress with a broken glass, but she was very understanding and helped us clean it up quickly(I’m sorry!). The food was hot, came out fast, and the experience was great, despite it being packed elbow to elbow with screaming people.

Great little brunch spot on a Sunday morning!!! Not super busy and the service is fairly decent. We come because they have $ 2 mimosas and build your own Bloody Mary’s which the wife loves!!! The bloody Mary’s have a decent amount of vodka and the selection for build your own stuff is pretty decent. The food is pretty good and they have decent size brunch menu which is pretty good overall! We always end up getting the artisan pizza and is that delicious!!! The crab cakes are good too!!! Everything on the menu is pretty delicious so you can’t go wrong picking anything on there. It not super expensive so definitely a place we come back to fairly often when we want brunch and we don’t want to fight the crowds Loss on one star because the service was a little slower and I had to ask twice to get a water refill but everything else went quickly and smoothly. Definitely give it a try for brunch on a lazy Sunday morning!!!

Depending on when you go, you can pretty much find what you’re looking for at J. Black’s. I happy hour pretty frequently, sometimes stay for dinner, have been known to show up on Longhorn game days, and on occasion, I’ll hit up brunch. The pizzas are tasty, and they are half-priced on Tuesdays(paired with a beer special) and on Friday lunch. Happy hour is a pretty good deal, and they have 25% of bottled wines, which always makes for the start of a great night(remember to hydrate, though, people!). The staff is friendly, and the bartenders are generally pretty quick. Never had a bad drink, while we’re on the subject, and they have some fun twists on your old favorites. If you go later at night on the weekends, then it does turn into more of a club feel instead of a lounge, but for the most part, «lounge» is a great word to describe it. Laid back and less d-bags here than you would think for a West 6th bar. Also, I have events here from time to time. It doesn’t cost anything to reserve space, and they are still happy to split your checks with no minimum tab for the reservation. I’ve done my birthday and networking events here. Everything has gone off without a hitch.
