Big brunch buffet and plenty of choices. I recommend the food but we got there right at 10 when they opened and the food was not hot in the serving dishes. Had either been sitting too long already or the heat was on long enough to get the steam flowing. Bottomless Mimosa is a nice thing and they will adjust the ratio of juice to champagne as requested. Biggest challenge is being in the opposite room from the buffet and sitting at a booth for 6 when you have to get out to keep making trips to the buffet. Opt for a table, in the bar area with the food unless you want to work some of the calories off while you eat.

The place has definitely gone downhill. Brunch used to be good but everything is overcooked or cold. The omelet station is fine if you don’t stand too close as the chef throws everything in the skillet and grease and food fly everywhere(over you if you are too close). They charge for each soda(obviously no free refills) and do not have on the menu for brunch what their ad states. Confusion also on what age one is considered a senior — some waiters it’s 65, others 60 so if seems like the wait staff don’t know what is going on — that is if you can find them! Some have been great and others just MIA. Don’t think that I will try this again.

I came here with my co-workers to end the evening. It was pretty dead when we walked in, though there was some live music played in the background. I can imagine this place being a great place to go if there were a lot more patrons. Our waiter looked very young, I wondered whether or not it was legal for him to work in a bar. I asked if they had a dark and stormy, which he wasn’t familiar with but said that they could make it if they look it up. He came back and asked me what it was called again, and I decided to change my order to just a ginger beer. He came back and totally forgot my order. Once he recalled what I wanted, he came back and said that all they had was non-alcoholic ginger beer. I ordered it anyway, and it was quite tasty.

Has been a while since I had been here. After today, pretty sure it won’t happen again. The staff has a «who cares attitude» and the food quality has dropped tremendously. Shocked that something would come out half cooked and the staff would not even address it.

Great brunch selection. Also has great bottomless mimosas. Come early because it gets busy.

The Iron Cactus on 6th street is okay, but this one is great. I’m a big fan of their Sunday brunch buffet($ 15). It’s one of those obscure North Austin secret spots. The food is good quality and plentiful. You can order bottomless mimosas for a decent price — I think it was about $ 7 or $ 8. There’s a make-your-own omelette station as well as waffles. The buffet includes both breakfast and lunch foods. And the salad is actually quite good — unlike so many other buffet salads you see. But don’t depend upon me, go check it out for yourself.

This restaurant seems confused, and I feel bad for it. On the outside it looks somewhat fancy, but upon entering you realize maybe why they put on a shiny façade. It was super quiet when we stopped in for dinner one night, the waitress tried to seat the squeeze and I at a four-top table in the middle of an empty section, which is totally awkward and I hate it when as a pair we get seated at an unnecessarily large table. I asked if we could snag a booth seat to which the hostess happily obliged. Then some sad jazz music started up which kinda sorta livened things up(?) but more or less just made it hard for us to hear each other. Our waiter was somewhat of an awkward bird. I also got a slight occasional waft of b.o. whenever he left, I don’t know if that was an unfortunate coincidence or an unfortunate case of b.o. I ordered a margarita, it was fine, on the smaller side but good. I enjoyed my meal, I ordered the shrimp enchiladas which were cheesy and flavorful. The main issue with our experience was with my bf’s meal and how the restaurant handled it. He’s sensitive to spicy foods so he asked our waiter if there was any way to remove the jalapenos from the stuffed iron burger, our waiter told us there was, but in the back of my mind I was thinking«how do they take something out when it’s stuffed inside a burger patty…» So low and behold we get our meals and his plate is just some fries and what looks like a bare patty between two buns. I cut his burger open and there’s nothing inside of it… but there’s nothing on top of it either. Our waiter pops by to check on us and I point out the lack of any fillings/toppings on the burger, he sort of just awkwardly panicked and left. So then the manager came over to see how we were doing and I pointed out that we ordered a stuffed iron burger and we were told by our waiter they could remove the jalapenos, but there wasn’t even cheese on, in, or around this burger like the menu stated there should be. The manager explained there was no way to remove the jalapenos because they are stuffed inside the patty. I’m not surprised at this, but why does your staff not know these things? He kinda sorta offered a solution, but my bf being the nice guy that he is decided to just to eat the burger that he got. I said no, that he ordered a stuffed iron burger which had cheese inside, so the least they could do was grill him up a new(cheese)burger. So we waited for that. And my bf ate and paid for his crappy $ 12 cheeseburger because they didn’t bother to offer us a discount or to comp his meal entirely for their mistake. Sorry Iron Cactus, but we won’t be returning.

Great food and the Brunches are grandiose. The staff is friendly and when a mistake was made they were quick to address it. If you like tequila, you cannot find a better selection. We have held large parties here and they handled it well. I definitely recommend Iron Cactus for Tex Mex type food!

Lots of tequilas here to get your swerve on! The food is pretty good too. I recommend Wednesday nights when the karaōke is in full effect; the singing and dancing is a hoot.

We went for the Sunday Brunch buffet and I was pretty impressed! For $ 15, it’s a very good deal. They have a meat carving station, an omelette station, a waffle station, and a lot of other tex-mex choices. I loved the omelette, that was pretty much all I needed, it was huge! The other selections were good too, but a bit hit or miss. Overall, you are going to find some food you really like and screw the other stuff because it’s a buffet! This place also feels like a higher-end restaurant and the service was good. I think it’d be hard to beat the value of this brunch buffet. For the money, you get a lot.

I haven’t been to the Iron Cactus in years but checked it out last night for an event. They were having a big tequila tasting called the Tequila Tour in their side bar. Great idea and was pretty well executed. Will definitely go back again and see how things progress. After the tasting though me and a girlfriend wanted to grab a quick dinner. I don’t remember the food being amazing the other times I have gone but our waitress mentioned that the chef had recently revamped the menu. We tried a few items and you can definitely tell some though has been put in to the new menu. The food was a step up and our waitress, Crystal, was great. I love getting unexpectedly amazing service. Such a sweet personality and very attentive. Thanks Iron Cactus for a night nice

Heard from the leasing office at my apartment that this was a great place to try and they had wonderful table side guacamole. Well we tried it and have to say I was borderline underwhelmed. Pros: — Great location with plenty of parking. — Friendly service. Our waitress was super nice and kept checking in with us. Cons: — Table side guacamole was average and for an item they are known for that’s not good. Was super flat and that was with us asking for her to spice it up. Ingredients were fresh, but tasted dull. — Shrimp salad with some kind of lime dressing was beyond bad. Lettuce was soggy wet and the dressing, if it was on there, was lost with the water standing on our plate. Shrimp(there were 4 total) were good, but not many for what was a $ 19 salad. Meh: — Queso wasn’t «bad» but not really memorable. — Dining room was closed for a private function so they asked if we we would sit in the bar. First visit, so didn’t know that meant a booth with torn seats and us sitting and staring at the other diners. Have to say one visit was enough. Despite the convenience of where this place is in comparison to where I live, I think I will be driving a bit further for better food.

The drinks were not good. The server was not good. The pork tenderloin I ordered was overpriced. And not good. The sauce was good it’s a shame there was nothing good to put it on. The ceviche was the worst I’ve had. The chips were stale the people tried to be nice. Something’s wrong here.

You know I went to this place for a corporate event and overall I got an exact 3. The magaritas were really a 2, way too much syrup, the frozen ones were out of the machine. They make them way to sweet, not juiced limes etc. The food was pretty good, the filet wrapped in bacon was very good, but the fish and chicken dishes were pretty weak. So all i all it equaled out to a 3

We had the Saturday brunch. The atmosphere was great and the service was too. The only problem was that the food wasn’t hot. We were there when they opened and we got the food as soon as it came out to the buffet table but it was barely warm and some wasn’t even warm. It’s a shame because the taste was good but it would have been great if warmer.

Came here for a work dinner. Ordered the mussels. They were pretty tasty. There were only a few — maybe two — that had a grain of sand in them… so…overall…pretty awesome. The ambiance was perfect for us to chat and have a great dinner.

Iron cactus has some of my favorite drinks, cactus juice, better yet; strawberry cactus, Texas«tea», and their margs in general are tasty! However, I went here on Friday for a post work birthday celebration for a co-worker and I only got one drink before we all left due to the slow service. There was a time when people from our group would be getting up and going to the bar to get a drink(or a couple) because our server was MIA. Then the manager came to help take drink orders which was generous but made it difficult when the checks came out because it confused our original server. Bottom line; good food; great drinks; not fabulous service, at least not at my most recent experience.

Slow serve me once, shame on you! Slow serve me twice, shame on me! Twice I’ve come here for happy hour on a Friday to be one of just a handful of tables in the bar area(not counting the separate seating area that I guess is for families not drinking — no idea). The service both times was painfully slow. This past Friday I was able to get one Blue Agave margarita right out of the gate. It was great. Then our waiter went missing. The manager came by to help out, I ordered another drink — twenty minutes later the drink, the waiter, and the manager were MIA, as were my friends’ drinks. I mozied over to the bar where I ordered a couple of drinks. Those took long, too — WITHTHREEBARTENDERSWORKINGATONCE. The check distribution was a mess, in part due to that manager’s momentary ‘assistance.’ Everyone’s tickets had to go back for corrections. It was a mess! If it weren’t for that delicious Fredericksburg specialty cocktail I ordered(that I got charged $ 1.50 extra for when rang up incorrectly as a mango mint something or other at the bar) and the Blue Agave Margarita, I’d probably be giving this a 1-star rating. Unfortunately, that’s not enough to warrant a return visit.

I’d probably rate a 2.5, but I’ll round up to be nice. Stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner, mostly because it was Easter and most non-chain places were closed. We walked in and basically had the whole place to ourselves. I had not been to this location before, but have experienced similar service issues at the other location downtown. The manager was chatting with the hostess when we arrived. We were seated in the back, and ignored… just straight up forgotten. It seems the manager just neglected to tell someone they had a table. I ended up flagging down the hostess as she seated another couple. We had been sitting for at least 15(or maybe more) minutes in an empty room. That’s not crazy long if they were busy, but when there’s nobody in there, there’s zero excuse. They said they had been very busy earlier and apologized, so at least they addressed it and then service was fine. We shared queso compuesto with steak, 2 salads, and a chile relleno. The queso was tasty, but had maybe 5 small pieces of steak in it. The salad that I got was filled with black, rotten spinach. My friend’s had less, but still had a few too. It didn’t bother him as much, plus mine had a lot more in it. I had to send mine back, which I really hate being«that» girl, but if I would throw that out at home, I’m certainly not paying for it in a restaurant. It was like ¼ of the salad. Gross! My relleno was actually pretty yummy, although a little undercooked on the pepper part. Since it was Sunday Funday, we also enjoyed a cucumber jalapeño margarita(or two), really good and I like their special salt they put on the rim. They took my salad off the bill without an issue. The manager was there at the hostess stand as we left. No polite thank you or have a nice day. Nothing but the margaritas would make me want to return here, and at $ 9.50 each for a highball size drink, probably unlikely.

Yum yum and even more yum! Came here for happy hour last night with my friend Jen, and man were we impressed! For drinks we tried the Mexican martini, ad the house prickly pear margarita. We both liked the margarita better, it was so tasty, but also very strong. Not that it’s a bad thing. Who doesn’t like tequila! We shared the fajitas for two, it ended up being a portion for like four people. We were beyond stuffed. The cilantro lime rice was the best I’ve ever had, so moist, and buttery. Perfectly balanced the lime flavor with the rice. As we were leaving we saw the delicious looking dessert tray, and I must say I was pretty tempted to just take the tray and run off because they literally looked THATDAMNGOOD! Haha Over all I like this place. We sat outside on the patio, there was live music, it was pretty good. They only thing I didn’t like was the fact that our table was seated next to a huge potted plant that was dead, it was actually like half alive and super depressing to look at. Haha. I was tempted to water it myself.
