Howard Johnson Austin North

This place is horrible. It had an overwhelming stench of smoke though Austin had the no smoking ordinance. There was a dead cricket in our bathroom and a Roach on the ceiling. The smell of smoke was so bad I had an asthma attack. Worst hotel, EVER

Horrible place to stay, i really expected more from a hojo. Place had bad odor, roof leaks everywhere, and they had trash cans catching the water. Security guard walks in my room in the middle of the night. Horrible place do not waste yr money

This place needs a major renovation, and the small project going on at this time will not save this place. If I were the Howard Johnson Co. I would not want my name on this place. Weird Smell, Bugs, and nothing works.

I have to say with all the reviews I was scared to stay here. Well fear not. Since renovations, which are still in progress, this place is wonderful. In no way is this a 4 star hotel but for the price it is very much worth the stay. The staff is amazing. The desk clerk named JJ had to be one of the most helpful people I have encountered at a hotel. Very helpful.
The room was large, a king bed with couch, desk, microwave and refrigerator. I felt very safe and relaxed. It smelled like cleaning supplies which is important when staying in a place where many others have stayed. Cool a/​c, gym, pool, laundry, wifi and cable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay in Austin.

There is a weird smell in the entrance of our room. It’s like a mix of Lysol and smoke with a light scent of death that gets stuck in the back of my throat when I leave the room. Little flying red friends have kindly accompanied us in our room too. Other than being shady, everything seems to work. Good internet, nice smelling toiletries, and a decently comfortable bed. But they were cheap with the pillows. Only two awkward and worn in pillows. Like I said, things are functional, but the smell, questionable stains, and lack of a real sign makes you feel creeped out. Oh and breakfast was cereal and toast. We passed on that one. We definitely got what we paid for.
