Brewery opens 10 am. You know these fools hop to their grains and priorities first. Where else can you drink straight from the source this early. Mighty fine beer products and atmosphere of splendor and delight for decorations and music and overall friendly fun cheer shared by strangers. I love you guys.

Wow, I really enjoyed the beer. The tap room has huge tables that can accommodate even the biggest partys. 10 bucks get you a glass and 4 pours of your choice. I will be back for sure! Loved it. The Green House IPA and Pale Dog were my favorites.

Definitely my favorite Austin brewery. They are always changing their beers like the dispensary series. Zoe is easy to drink and in the stores for purchase. There are tables inside and out. Live music at times and games to play. A burger food truck is always busy but I have yet to order one. They must be doing something right! Our dog loves their Brew Biscuits, made from grains and other ingredients.

First off if you are visiting Austin this is tied with jester king for best brewery to drink at. Big open area with plenty of seating, generally $ 10 for 4 pours and keep the cup. Most visits there’s a food truck outside so you could actually come drink here for a bit and not have to leave for food. Everyone who works here loves their job and is happy to talk to you about their beer. Great place to hang out. No tvs, but plenty of board games.

The«samples» that you purchase with the glass are actually a good size. There’s a few long picnic tables outside of the building. Nothing spectacular as far as view(parking lot), but nice to have an outdoor option on nice days.

Waiting in line seems to be the thing to do in Austin these days, and if you show up at Hops and Grain on a Saturday, that is just what you will be doing. Fortunately, the beer is worth the wait. They have an interesting system here where you pay $ 10 for a small glass, and they give you tokens for 4 beers. It is a workaround for the zoning laws in the area, but it actually ends up being a pretty good deal. The only trouble is, you end up waiting in line for each of your beers. I really liked the Mosiac Pale and the Dispensary Series: Imperial IPA. Both were juicy beers, with great tropical hop flavor. The porter was okay as well, but it didn’t pack enough punch for a Baltic porter. There was a food truck here when I came on Saturday, and lots of people were hanging out eating, drinking and playing board games at the communal tables. They also do tours on the weekend, which seemed very popular. This is one of the top breweries in Austin, so I recommend going if you are in town. If you can’t make it to the brewery, a lot of bars/restaurants have the Mosiac Pale on tap. Check it out.

You can purchase a flight of 4 beers of your choosing for $ 10– you actually purchase the glass and they give you 4 fills of it for«free». They also offer free tours on Thursdays and Fridays at 5pm, and on Saturdays at 1pm, 3pm, and 5pm. The guy running the tour was really cool and personable, but their factory is really small so there isn’t much to see– I’d only recommend taking the tour if you want to learn more about this particular brewery’s history. It took about 35 minutes since there weren’t a ton of people with questions. The rest of their space is pretty cool– it’s a large square area with a lot of large tables to sit at in addition to a small bar area. You can check out board games for free but they will hold your ID. Sadly, there were no dark beers on tap when we went, but we tried the below beers: –Zoe(Pale Lager, ): Their flagship and most popular beer. It had a nice sweetness and was mostly smooth to drink. although there was a tinge of slight bitterness at the finish. –Dispensary Pilsner– This was definitely stronger tasting than the Zoe, but it was still light and easy to drink. –Dispensary Pale Ale: There was a hoppy taste with some bitterness at the finish but this was a solid pale ale, and still surprisingly easy to drink. –Dispensary Imperial IPA: This had a very smooth bourbon-y type of quality and sweetness. This definitely had the most body and flavor out of all the beers we tried here, and it was my favorite. If you’re looking for a cool place to hang out with friends and/or to sample beers at an up and coming brewery that doesn’t believe in the hipster overhopping trend, stop by Hops and Grain! You’ll get to keep your glass as a souvenir, which is a nice bonus. There was plenty of parking when we went, since the lot is really big.

So you know that when a brewery is open at 10am and people are already there sampling beers that it’s going to be a good one. Or a drunk one. This is both. This spot is sort of hidden away inside a building of other businesses. And it’s way bigger than it looks. There’s plenty of room to sit and plenty of beers to try. And they’re good. So good. I’m not usually an IPA fan but they had a double that tasted like beer and orange juice had the best baby ever. The staff is also friendly, or at least the one bearded dude behind the counter, who offered up beer suggestions and was a damn nice guy. I hear they run tours and it’s a shame I didn’t get to take it, as I could have spent more time here.

Donkey Kong would rage so hard in here, they have good beer and also comedy shows! Food trailer with burgers are available outside, parking is in an unpaved pot holey lot against the fence.

Came in on a rainy day… tight quarters and limited seating, but good beer choices.

Gem of a brewery. Highly recommend the tour on the weekend — you’ll find that this brewery does much more than just beer(sustainability, even community service) but also that their beer is excellent and very unique. I’m from California and am bummed I can’t take home a thousand liters of the Green House IPA back with me. They play good music and have board games, cards to play if you’re just hanging out and drinking. Also, if you’re there and a burger food truck is parked outside, do yourself a favor and GETONE. They’re small but flavorful and on excellent brioche buns.

Great atmosphere and run by people that are passionate about what they do. The beer selection is great and there are always small batch beers on tap.

The location was a bit odd, tucked in the back of a warehouse like building. The Über driver barely found it, even with the GPS’d location. I can’t remember the exacts, but they don’t technically sell the beer, they sell you the glass that comes with 4 sampling of your choice. The glasses and samplings are way more than what you usually get at other breweries. And you get to keep the glass. The bartender was nice. I didn’t checkin on Unilocal until after I’d purchased my glass, so I missed the Unilocal checkin offer. I didn’t ask if she could go back and honor it, I just didn’t want to be «that girl». The tours are only given during certain times. Forgive me for not remembering that time, but we were lucky enough to take the tour. The employees were in the back canning and working a normal workweek, while we walked to an area near the tanks and were given the inside scoop. There wasn’t much walking at all, just standing. It wasn’t very big, so there wasn’t a lot of area to cover. The board games were my favorite. Although they could use some new score cards, we played and enjoyed several games of Yatzee. The beer was quite good, yet it wasn’t something that I’d grab a 6 pack of. To their defense though, I’m somewhat of a beginner craft beer consumer.

This place was cool. $ 10 keep the glass for 4 pours. We met some awesome dudes and got to socializing, so that made the experience more worthwhile. They have board games you can rent by depositing an ID. Things got blurry quick here, so there’s not much to say other than I enjoyed it. Their Zoe is delicious. Other beers didn’t stand out too much, but probably because I was too drunk to differentiate the flavor profiles. Bathrooms are bit of a walk, but are spacious and clean. The large communal tables inside are nice. plenty of room to socialize, play board games, hang out, do whatever. They also serve coffee here if you’re into that.

I came with co-workers to do a little tasting. I’m not much of a beer drinker, but I’m trying to develop a palate for it. There was nothing little about the tasting. For $ 10 you get four tokens(which are exchanged for full glasses of beer) and a souvenir glass. I started with the Original Zoe, she was delicious. I tried the Crystal Zoe next, I liked her even better. Next was the Nugget Zoe, she was good, but by that point I think anything would have made me happy. Next, we toured the brewery with Bob. Bob loves beer. He was full of information but made the tour fun and interesting. I feel like everyone who works there has a genuine passion for beer, which you can taste in your glass. I never thought of beer as living and breathing, until now. Between Bob and our bartender Clessy(forgive the spelling), it felt more like hanging out at a friends house and having some beers than sitting in a public tasting room. This company is also environmentally and socially conscious(they turn the hops & other leftover stuff into dog treats)! I could go on, but I won’t. I’ll be taking my fiancé here and encouraging him to buy hops and grain for our home.

Once inside, there is a frolicking good time with singing, board games, and enthusiastic staff. The beer on tap is very good with their 4 core brands and 4 specials. Their special edition pilsner was sublime. Others on tap were just okay. The prices here are super cheap: you buy something like $ 8 or less for a souvenir half nonic pint glass with their logo and then get tickets for at least x46oz pours of whatever you want. Best deal in town and possibly the best beer brewed in the city. Highly recommended. Only reason I wouldn’t give this 5-stars is because even though their beer can be sublime, you cannot get a proper full pour of it.

I’m going to go again and hope that it goes better because I’d heard such good things, like that the tap room offered lots of cool, interesting beers not available elsewhere. I went on a weekend and here was my experience: 1. VERY loud band playing in a relatively small, indeed tasting room. Even sitting as far as possible from the band, we had to yell to hold conversations. 2. Board games everywhere, which is awesome, except that they’re hard to play when you can hear anything 3. A beer selection that was unimpressive. I don’t like hops, so I suppose that’s part of the problem, but the special taproom-only beers were multiple iterations of the same pale ale. All-in-all, the majority of the beers in the taproom when I went were some form of Pale Ale. For me, this was a huge con. If you love hops then I suppose this is a big plus. More power to you. Even my more hop-crazed friends were a bit bummed at the lack of variety in the taproom, though.

DAAAAAAAAAAAAMN! how much do i wish this place was in my neighborhood at home? a lot. and we’ve got a sh*t ton of craft breweries… we strolled into this place as part of our«eating and drinking our way around Austin» tour. funnily enough most locals had no idea where it was but it was pretty easy to find. what we first noticed was how different the liquor laws are in TX vs BC, Canada… we had to buy a glass, which happened to come with 6 beer tickets, for $ 10. Nice! Each ‘pour’ was about half a glass and you could get a pour for 1 ticket or a «specialty’ pour for 2. Confused? don’t be. basically you get a lot of beer AND a souvenir glass for $ 5. it was so much that we came back another day to finish up our tickets(and purchase a new glass for $ 5). so what of the beer you say… well the Zoe, for me is their strongest. A REALLY flavorful pale lager… and i don’t normally like lagers. their porter was also pretty strong. service was awesome with a special shoutout to Bob! only drawback is that there are no growler refills and you can’t buy on location… although that’s an issue with all craft breweries in TX. wish i could say i will be back, alas probably not in the cards. i do have an awesome tshirt though.

Finally Hops & Grain has a tap room that is large enough for the large crowds that come to drink their beer. The larger space has plenty of picnic tables and a larger bar area for your ordering pleasure. $ 10 still gets you a souvenir glass + 6 tickets(their generics are 1 ticket, special ones are 2 tix). On a recent Saturday afternoon, the place was hopping. There are board games strewn about and some toddlers in the mix(family friendly!).

I loved the Austin local beer scene and how many people who loved beer I met on my short trip We chose to visit this brewery because it was sustainable and also because they had several tours to choose from on Saturday. The Saturday tours are at 1 pm, 3 pm, and 5 pm(but call to confirm this) and we got there around 4 pm. I highly encourage getting there early because you can enjoy the taproom. For $ 10, you get a glass to keep and 6 drink tickets for half a pint each(you can also combine them to get 3 whole pints). What an awesome deal! I tried several beers and liked them all. My favorite was the Greenhouse IPA, which I am actually drinking at home back in NJ as I write this review. The Pale Dog was also awesome and the Alteration was pretty good as well. I also had the Porter and Coffee Porter; while these beers were good, they are definitely things that would be better in colder weather. The IPA was super fresh(much better than the canned version though that is also good). I wouldn’t say these are my favorite beers, but I did enjoy them and would definitely order them again. I also recommend going on the tour as it is pretty short and sweet. You can tell they are passionate about their products and doing their best to produce a product they are proud of. We learned that they strive to be as sustainable as they can be, which can be hard due to their small size, but something that they continue to improve on. This seems like an awesome place to come and hang out since as mentioned, $ 10 for 3 pints and a glass is a great deal. You can also reuse their tickets if you don’t finish them. The taproom has ample seating and board games which lots of people were playing. The only thing is that it is pretty hot so I personally wouldn’t hang out there for too long on a summer day. Due to some neighborhood restrictions, they actually can’t sell their own beer but I found it at Whole Foods, a couple of bars on Rainey that sold six packs to take home but couldn’t serve it, and HEB.
