My friend and I decided it would be a good idea to split a shake from Holy Cacao RIGHT after devouring tacos from Torchy’s. It was an indulgent meal, to say the least, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way. The cute little truck totally lured us in, and the shake was filled with pieces of cake and a rich chocolatey flavor. So scrumptious. Definitely expensive. It worked out that my friend and I weren’t hungry for one shake each, so we got to save calories(and some $$!) Would recommend doing the same.

Back in Austin, went to eat again at Torchies and Holy Cacao. The frozen hot chocolate is as good as it gets. My husband’s cappuccino was very very good. The young man at the counter was very kind to my granddaughter who could not make up her mind. In the end, she took home one of every flavor of the cake balls. Will come back again next year!

Cake shake was alright. I didn’t personally enjoy the texture. It tasted like there was sand in my milkshake. I totally get that’s probably what people like about it, but this place just wasn’t for me. I would skip this food truck and hit up Hey Cupcake instead. Just my opinion though.

I miss when the original owner had this truck. It used to be a cake ball truck and was amazing!!! Now the owners just sell shakes and hot chocolate and not even with homemade marshmallows anymore. I always made a point to go get the cake balls whenever I came to Austin but every trip in last couple years has been a fail. Blown away that they opened a second location when they are not able to support one!!! Please original owner, buy it back! Give us those wonderful cake balls I so love again! Time to find a new Austin sweet spot. RIP Holy Cacao, former home of delicious cake balls.

I came here to try their frozen hot chocolate, and it was either poor timing or perfect timing because the blender broke. We waited for about 15 minutes for the blender to get working, but it never did, so our barista refunded our order and gave us a complimentary shake. While the shake was not blended as intended, it was still very rich and we were very much impressed by the amount of ice cream used. I guess I’ll have to come back when the blender gets fixed.

CAKESHAKE! The guy who took my order wasn’t really that nice, but the cake shake. Yes.

Right next to the always awesome original Torchy’s trailer, this place has absolutely amazing desserts and drinks! It’s some of the best hot chocolate in town(and I’m a hot chocolate snob); incredibly creamy and rich and flavorful. The frozen hot chocolate is an awesome, warm-weather spin on it. And the cake shakes(chocolate and red velvet are my favorites) are incredible, and they’re exactly what they sound like: cake blended into an icy, creamy shake!

Holy Cacao is right… meaning I can’t believe I just wasted money and calories on what was essentially an overly sweet chocolate milkshake. Or maybe that’s what it’s supposed to be like? I’m not sure. All I know is that I was expecting something that would be a bit more refreshing and all it did was make my throat ache because it was so sweet. I could barely drink it too because it was so thick which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but it kind of was this particular night because I was thirsty. The worst part of it all was that it was really expensive for something that I only drank maybe a third of before I tossed. I literally went and got a bottle of water after this drink. Maybe I went on a bad night but when I was there, there was nobody in line ahead of me. Might be a sign that Holy Cacao might have to change some things up if they want to compete with some of the other more popular desserts trucks/trailers in the area. 2⁄5

No complaints but I found my latte to be about average.

Decided to stop by simply because the name made me chuckle. The guy working in the booth recommended a frozen hot chocolate with a shot of espresso for a cold pick me up. It was as tasty as promised. It has the dark chocolate flavor that I prefer without getting too bitter and is blended better than the big chain stores that leave you feeling like you are sucking all of the flavor out of a kids ice pop by the end.

I’ve only had frozen hot chocolate in Vegas at serendipity and in comparison this one is so much better!!! Not only is the taste richer, it’s also not as sweet which is awesome to me. This is located among two other food trucks. They have organic coffee and also serve espressos. It is perfect for a hot Austin summer day. The price is a bit on the higher side but that is expected since it’s a food truck but you do get a good amount. They give you whipped cream without asking so make sure you specify yes or no whip cream. Definitely recommend the frozen hot chocolate!

Just as good if not better than their first location on South First! The frozen hot chocolate and cake balls are amazing, and the coffee has become an everyday thing for me. The service was very friendly as well, definitely worth stopping by.

Slightly pricey but love the cake shakes! I wasn’t a huge fan of the frozen hot chocolate though, perhaps a bit too rich for my taste. Probably also failed since I ordered one with a cake shake. I couldn’t justify $ 3 for a cake ball though. Tldr Gone and will come back for the choco/choco cake shake :)

This is a desert place? You could have fooled me. Come here for the caffeine & leave rejuvenated.

Easily the best coffee drink place I’ve ever had. My mom got the latte and I was blown away. Tasted so good. The coffee flavor was strong and the creaminess was perfect. Best latte I’ve ever tried. 5⁄5 I got the cake shake with chocolate ice cream and chocolate cake. Unreal. I’ve tried portillo’s cake shake and it doesn’t compare. This was so delicious. The texture was amazing and the flavor wasn’t overly sweet. Chocolate flavor was perfect. 5⁄5 My girlfriend got the mocha latte and this was delicious as well. The sweetness was perfect and not overly done. The coffee flavor was strong. 5⁄5

This place has some pretty sinful treats. We had the Frozen Hot Chocolate, which was really great! That by itself is a really chocolaty dessert, but we also tried the red velvet and chocolate peanut butter cake balls which were good, but not great. Having them refrigerated kind of took away from the flavor. It would have been better too if the people working the desert trailer were a little more outgoing or nice. They were, by no means, rude, but they were not engaging either. Definitely check this place out if you are around south 1st.

Coming here was my first experience having a cake shake, and I was super excited — I made it with white wedding cake bits and vanilla ice cream. For $ 6.50(large size), you get a super thick, creamy, and rich shake, with chunks of wedding cake going up the straw. It’s actually almost like drinking milked-down icing. I thought it was delicious lol! I also tried three kinds of their cake pops: the wedding balls, the velvet balls, and the rabbit balls. The cake inside was super buttery and dense, but not quite as moist or flavorful as I would have liked. It sort of tasted like they just took it out of the freezer and didn’t wait for it to thaw long enough. Also, $ 3 per cake pop is a pretty steep price, so I expected for it to taste better than if I bought a box of cake mix and a jar of icing and made 24 of them myself(it didn’t). But if you really do feel the need to purchase one of these overpriced balls, I recommend the rabbit balls. Anyway, I’ll definitely try to give it another chance sometime soon! BUTFORNOW… I would not ca-caon’t on me visiting in the near future. *ba dum tss*

I was very intrigued by the Frozen Hot chocolate sign. Asked if it could be made with milk alternative bit it cants since they pre-make the hot chocolate mixture. I couldn’t see exactly how it was made but I heard a blender. It looked like a zillion calorie Starbuck’s drink but so much better. It was heavy in texture like a chocolate shake, but without the dairy bloat. The chocolate flavor was much richer than I expected. It was like a chilled, sipping chocolate drink. I enjoyed it very much. Especially on a hot day.

What a fitting name, as I was taken aback by how delicious the frozen drinks here were. After the disappointing fried chocolate chip cookies from Torchy’s next door, I was even more desperate for some satisfying sweets for dessert, and luckily this truck opened its doors just as I walked over. I really wanted to try some Cake Balls, but the guy said he didn’t have any yet, and I passed on the pre-wrapped brownies on display, realizing that they must have been at least a day old since the guy just opened the truck. No matter though, as the Cake Shake is what you must get here($ 6.50 for a large, which is too big, since you will want to finish the whole thing). You choose a type of cake to mix with either chocolate or vanilla ice cream. I went with Red Velvet cake and chocolate ice cream, which he blended together into one of the most delicious shakes I’ve ever had. The genius move here is that they have those really fat straws you use for bubble tea, which is key since there are still really huge bits of cake to suck up. It’s so dense and rich and you will happily plow through the whole thing before you realize you’ve just drunk your entire day of calories. Intrigued by the Frozen Hot Chocolate on the menu($ 6.50), I knew I had to try it after tasting how incredible the shake was. It was very different from the shake, but also incredible in its own right. It was so rich you could really taste how much chocolate was in it. Get the small size of each for a really satisfying dessert. The frozen drinks are worth coming back here for on their own, but I would also like to return to try some of the cake balls next time.
