This place is awesome, really friendly service, and great food for the value. My girlfriend and I have been here time and time again, and we’re never disappointed.

I pass by here all the time and I’ve noticed it on the way to my usual lunch spot next door. I decided to try something new(take a risk) and stopped in for a gyro for $ 5.50. Not a bad price for a gyro. Well you get what you pay for here. My wrap had two sad little slices of meat on top and a ton of lettuce. It was a real struggle to make sure I had at least a little bit of meat with each bite. The onions were the strongest I’d ever tasted and I had to take them out. A guy the next table over from me at work was making fun of me for picking at my food, so I mentioned the strength of the onions. He said«Damn! I can smell those things from here!» I don’t know if they have better options, but based on the one stop, I won’t be back.

I really like the food and atmosphere here. They maintain good ratios of meat/vegetables/sauce, have very reasonable prices, keep the tables clean, and don’t blast annoying music. I don’t understand why people go to Peace Bakery & Deli when the food and service are so much better here across the board. I give 4 stars because here they don’t surpass expectations like Santorini does with things like free beignets and outdoor seating. But they do what they do well. One note: I believe the name of this restaurant has changed. Their sign now says«Shawarma Café».

Under new management and even better food and customer service– must check out! They kept many of the same old items and added some new ones. A true Halal/Greek North Austin gem!

Everything was nice and fresh, the place is IMMACULATELY clean and everything is new. Service was nice and quick(this place goes under the radar because of it’s seedy location) so I was the only one there when I ordered. Big smile from my server, who said thank you like he meant it… I felt like I was in a small town diner. :-) A full 5 stars because this place really stands out against similar places in the same geographic area.

This place was pretty good and I will be back. It was a little salty for me but I am über sensitive to salt. It’s just nice to have something that’s not mexican food close enough to work that I want to drive to. I took mine to go and got in and out pretty quick. The guy was super nice.

This place is the worst. I asked if they had chicken skewers he said yes… He comes out with bacon looking strips of chicken. I said thats not what I wanted he snatched the tray and said then dont eat it. Not wanting to be rude I said I’ll pay for it and give it a try. I asked to use the locked restrooms he said there out of order, I told him I just wanted to wash my hands. He couldn’t be any more rude! He unlocked the bathroom they were perfectly fine. Its like he was paying me to eat or something. Later that night the food made me so sick and I have a strong stomach. The worst fakest place to eat. Never again. Not to mention really dirty. Food on the tables and the dirtiest floor with food scattered everywhere. Yuk

Nothing here to rave about. Everything from the lighting to the menu options are sub par. I had a chicken gyro and the falafel. Neither one wowed me. I found the chicken to be a strange compressed bundle of unidentifiable meat and the falafels were very dark on the outside from being over cooked. Their sauce is good on the side. The bread has gotten better but the SERVICE has gotten WORSE. The young guy behind the counter didn’t offer me a drink before rushing off to fix cook the food. He didn’t even give me time to say I wanted fries. What really sucked though was I saw the guy behind the counter lick his finger so he could grab a to bag. When I mentioned it to him he became very argumentative. That’s exactly what I want: fresh salivia on my bag and your spit on my cup as I ask for a refill. The place is very small, never seems busy and the food doesn’t even permeate the restaurant and make it pleasing to the nose.

Too late to get excited about Greek food in North Austin. Santorini is a much better and a more authentic experience. The guys working the counter were very nice and professional. I know they can’t help not being Greek. They gave it a good try. I had to ask for both tatziki and salad dressing as they forgot them. The green salad had freezer burn. The gyro was ok. Small, clean dining area– but a very florescent and fish-bowly atmosphere.

Delicious, but it made me and my group sick. Maybe it was too rich in food, maybe they did something weird but it DEFINITELYWASNOTFOODPOISONING, because it happened too quickly for that. The Gyro: They are delicious! They are huge! If I could some how make them into to, I would probably every time. The meat is pretty good too. I only get the chicken though, because I dont eat baby animal… most of the time. Tzatziki Sauce: They put a lot on, but its not nearly enough, I wish I had more. They will give you extra if you ask though, so thats good. The Salad: Get the salad not the fries. You can substitute the fries for the salad and its pretty good. Mexican Coke Rating: 1 out of 5. They dont have mexican coke! Why, every place must have mexican coke! Alas, the drink is kind weird, because you can kinda get it yourself, but you have to rea

Decent fairly quick lunch, order at the counter. Hopefully, their business picks up as I went in at 12:30 and it was pretty dead. It’s new and clean considering the shopping center. The gyro was pretty good but the meat was a little dry. Normally, I never get fries but since they were cooking to order I asked for well done which they did. I want to try more items. My only disappointment was the olives are just regular black olives, not Greek. It’s a short menu but there is more to try. I will be back for another go around.

This place is great! Just a regular ol Greek place with standard Crete pictures on the wall, big cones of meat and platters/gyros. Our portions were more than generous. Everyone took a doggy bag home. And the pricing was great. About $ 10 for a platter, 2 sides, fries and a drink. Solid service, a good gyro and all super quick. Paul set this experience apart for us though. Super friendly, really animated, totally engaged with the customer. He’s a cool dude.

Had a great experience when I came. Service was friendly, place was clean, parking was easy to find. Got to try a beef & lamb gyro pita, hummus, beef souvalaki pita, fries, beef & lam gyro salad. All were great. Could use more Tzatziki sauce. Salad had fresh vegetables that looked clean & not brown or wilted. Lettuce, tomato, onion, feta, black olives(I opted out of those) + a fair amount of meat. Hummus was really good. It was flavorful & didn’t taste like the store-bought ones AKA it didn’t have a sour aftertaste. Tzatziki sauce was creamy & delicious. Husband enjoyed the gyro meat more than souvalaki. But if you’re more excited seeing meat fibers of real cuts of meat instead of a crispy meatloaf-life texture, you’ll probably like the souvalaki more. I liked both!

GGC cranks out decent gyros with fresh, standard quality ingredients with no wait time. The space is spotless. Considering the locale that’s a major accomplishment. The rest of this strip center has seen much better days. Décor(chairs/tables/etc…) is all shiny & brand new. The wall art photo murals hit all those standard Greek place eye candy damn I wish I was back in Santorini sucking down Ouzo shots notes perfectly. Staffers were friendly & efficient. Prices are super competitive. They’ve run a BOGO gyro coupon in the otherwise useless Valpak thing that shows up in the mail all the time for the last couple of months. Use that BOGO coupon & yr out the front door with 2 fresh average size gyros for less than $ 7. That’s a damn good deal & you should tip heavily in appreciation if you take advantage of it. If you’ve ever been to Miltos GGC is serving about the same quality gyros Miltos on 29th& Guadalupe has been serving since the dawn of time. But the GGC space is waaaay nicer & the staff is friendlier.

It was 8:30 on a weeknight, we hadn’t eaten dinner yet, it was too late to cook, and we were looking for somewhere to grab a quick bite. I was craving Greek, but our neighborhood place(Pars Deli) was already closed. A quick search on Unilocal showed me that this place had just opened up, so we decided to give it a try. Walking in, our first impression was that the place was really clean and tidy, with the blue and white décor you’d expect to see in a Greek restaurant. My wife got the falafels and a cup of water, I got a gyro and a fountain soda, and we split a piece of cheesecake. The falafels were fresh and tasty, the gyro was absolutely packed with fresh-sliced meat, the pitas were fluffy and airy, and the cheesecake was flavorful and satisfying. Not the absolute best Greek food I’ve had in my life, but really tasty. The total, with tax, came to just under $ 15, which is a steal for what we got. So there you have it. Four stars for the food, five stars for the value. We’ll be back.

Was in Austin last weekend for a quick visit and a friend brought me to this newly opened place for some Gyros. I’m so glad I went because it is one of the best Gyro sandwiches I’ve ever had! We also had some kabobs, falafel, hummus and everything was delicious! The staff were also extremely friendly and the place was sparkling clean. Will definitely go back the next time I’m in Austin!

As far as greek food in Austin goes, this is one of the best… from top to bottom, Gyro Greek Café wins. The falafel is made in house and crisp, the dolmas are on point and the all critical hummus tastes fresh and as if it was freshly made. The right amount of spice goes in to everything here. The chef and owner are both great people who are very concerned with a positive customer experience and producing the best food and atmosphere possible. They win with the venue as well… you wouosnt expect anything this clean in this shopping center… it’s almost like its own little oasis in the middle of the area. Clean, good food, nice people… and a mastery of the greek food genre which has been so poorly represented in Austin to this point. It’s definitely worth a try if you’re in the mood for greek and in this part of town.

New Greek place popped up on the corner of Lamar and Rundberg. It’s tiny place about the size of a subway. The owner seems to have put lots of care in to the place. As of right now, everything is brand new. There’s lots of natural light steaming in, you can see the sheen of new paint on the walls and the metal glisten off the new appliances. It’s a place that serves standard Greek fast food. Gyros, falafels, kabobs on pita or in a platters. Most items are inexpensive and range from $ 4 to $ 6. Add 2.50 for fries and a drink. There was no wait when we stopped in. We tried 2 items for lunch: Ground beef kofta kebab pita wrap — grilled to order meat with a cold salad of lettuce, purple onions and tomatoes in a warm pita. Pretty good but nothing special. Beef gyro pita wrap Fries — thick cut unsalted fries that are pretty standard Overall: it’s a welcome addition to a corner of town in need of good lunch spots.

This small shopping center off N. Lamar and Rundberg has just about every ethnic food you can think of. Now add Greek! Brand-new and super clean. Nothing fancy, but they do have all the Greek take-out menu staples. Very nice staff. I got the lamb gyro and my friend a chicken — both were yummy!
