Thank you to Kevin, Kevin and gang. You helped make this a totally special birthday for my Mom and I am beyond grateful. The meal was great, and the service was exceptional. But the best part was how everyone went out of their way to make my Mother feel special. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It was one of the best birthdays she has had. You totally spoiled us!!! It was memorable. Thanks again.

I had the distinct pleasure of experiencing the best dish I’ve had in 2016 and I still can’t get over it! I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and was not disappointed. An absolutely superb dish. Each bite had light, perfectly cooked sea bass in the Hong Kong style soy broth. I was relishing every moment before it was gone. Our waiter was attentive and the service excellent. I HIGHLY recommend this dish if you love fish.

This is a bit late but… We got reservations here on NYE cause bf had a gift card from a client. The place was nice, smaller than I expected. Definitely a «fine dining» establishment. The food was good, but not particularly memorable… I do remember the tiny size of my bf’s $ 40 filet mignon. It was a decent date night, but no music or lively atmosphere on a NYE? Meh. While there, I wished I’d made reservations sooner and gotten a table at their downtown location. Maybe that would have been a better time. Cocktails were good, service was timely and courteous. I’d go back for an occasion like an anniversary where you want quiet dining.

No, wait, I’m not ready for the high life! But my parents sent me a gift card to Eddie V’s so now I’m out of my comfort zone receiving above and beyond service eating high quality beef and seafood. I won’t let this experience change me, but let me get lost in the moment for a little bit. On a rainy night, we made our way to Eddie V’s sans car accident. They provide complimentary valet, but self-parking was abundant. Sitting down, they presented us with their complimentary bread which was very crispy with a delicious spread of butter. The ambience was very lively, and the diners ranged from businessmen in formal wear to a family of four in T-shirt and jeans. It’s gonna be a long night, and I mean that in a good way. To start we got the Steak and Lobster Tartare, Maine Lobster and Shrimp Bisque, and the Crab and Corn Chowder. Being only the second time having steak tartare, it was really good. However, the steak was overshadowed by the lobster tartare, which had a delicious seafood-taste and wonderful texture. More, more! By the way, if you really love that seafood-aroma and flavor, I highly HIGHLY recommend the Maine Lobster and Shrimp Bisque. Delicious chunks of lobster and shrimp filled the plate and the broth was creamy, delicious, and hot. The Crab and Corn Chowder was only okay in my book, so I gladly wolfed down the bisque with gusto. For our mains we got the Halibut Filet and the North Atlantic Lemon Sole. The Halibut Filet was only just okay and I probably would try something else if I come back. I love fish, but not a fan of fish with dense meat, which is what the Halibut is all about. I don’t remember much about the Sole since I only had a few bites, but she was a fan. Note to self: get to know some stuff about the fish you might be eating. The sides we got were the Crab Fried Rice and the Brussels Sprouts. Another note: sides come in two sizes, and the smaller size can easily feed two people while the larger version feeds a family. The Crab Fried Rice was the bomb, and we both dug right into it. The Brussels Sprouts were good, but nothing spectacular. Portions overall were perfect, and we ended up taking some fish and sides home. Service was excellent! We had all our questions answered, our glasses filled, table cleared, and even a joke thrown in. We were neither ignored or smothered. Great experience!

I came here with my family to celebrate my sister’s NRMP day. We made a reservation one week before the day. We had reservation Friday at 6:30pm. They had complimentary valet parking. The place was already full by the time we arrived. We went inside and the atmosphere & décor was elegant and nice. We got seated right away. We got to our table and meet our server Matt. He is awesome! I recommend him! He brought my sister a congratulations card. It was super sweet. Matt provided us with the wine menu & the menu once we got seated. It was our first time here and Matt was very patient with us. The wine menu is two pages long. Matt brought us couple of samples of wines because we couldn’t decide. We ended up ordering Moscato wine for our drinks(#403 on the wine menu). My wine glass got tipped over due to the table being unevenly leveled. But Matt replaced it with no problem. I really appreciated that. In the dinner menu there was alot of selection: oyster bar, appetizers, 2nd course(salad & soups), seafood, steaks, and side dishes. We basically had 10 course meal for 4 people. 11 if you count the bread. This is what we had: 1) Batterfried Oysters: This was really fried well. The flavor was delicious. The cucumber gave it a nice twist. I never knew oysters and cucumbers went together really well. 2) Mussels Special:(not in menu, Matt recommendation) The sauce in the Mussels were incredible. It was not chewy and my dad loved it. Matt brought us a separate bowl to put our empty shells in. 3) Maine Lobster & Shrimp Bisque: This bisque is creamy. It had chunks of lobster & shrimp. It has a lobster after taste. It was quite amazing. 4) Shrimp & Crab Chopped Salad: The salad had avocado, tomatoes, mushrooms, candied walnut. It was wonderful. Ingredients were fresh. Salad was crisp. Big shrimps and fresh lumb of crabs. 5) Alaskan Halibut with Fresh Crab:(not in menu, special of the day) Halibut tasted mild and sweet. It lean and flaky and it melts in your mouth. 6) Swordfish Steak: This swordfish is broiled to give a firm and meaty texture allows the fish to be rich and juicy. It’s firmer and meatier than the Halibut. The swordfish is moist and flavorful, with a slightly sweet taste. The sauce has avocado, cilantro, and fresh crab. It’s really delightful. 7) Texas Red Fish: 2 filet of red fish. This fish reminds me of red snapper. This fish had mild, sweet flavor with a medium-firm texture. Not a steak texture like Swordfish and not as flaky as the Halibut. Very well-seasoned sauce on this fish. 8) Crab Fried Rice: This was one of our side dish. It was a American version of fried rice. It had mushrooms, scallions, and crab. Surprisingly it was tasty. 9) Asparagus with Hollandaise: Another side dish. Asparagus originally comes with an egg. But Matt our server recommended to get Hollandaise instead. It was less messy. Hollandaise is the same as egg yolk sauce. Asparagus was cooked well. It wasn’t limpy like when it’s over cooked. 10) Hot«Bananas Foster» Butter Cake with Butter Pecan Ice Cream: This is the best heavenly dessert I’ve had in a long time. Rich butter pecan ice cream and a pile of lightly-sweetened whipped cream. The butter cake is topped with sliced fresh bananas. Matt poured the rum over the cake and lighted the whole thing on fire. The flambé crisps up the cake and caramelizes it all in one impressive step. We had such an amazing night here. Thank you for making our dinner so memorable. It was night to remember forever. Thanks again!

If you’re going to do Eddie V’s you got to go downtown and do it right. At least that’s how I feel after visiting the location up North. To be fair, we only ate appetizers, and I assume that the steaks and sides are just as delicious as the south location. The lobster tacos were not nearly as good as I remembered, so maybe not. The restaurant itself makes you feel like your on a carnival cruise ship. The service is great, but the ceilings are low. 10 years ago it was a good spot, now there are better options on this side of town.

Took the wife here for her birthday on a Friday evening. Brought along one of our teenagers. Made a reservations a couple weeks earlier. This is recommended. Parking: There is a parking lot but it is crowded. Street parking and valet parking is available as well. Dress code: Unilocal said dressy. In reality it ran the gamut. Men: Vest and tie to FootJoy golf pullover to baseball cap and jeans. Women: Dresses, slacks and tops, jeans and sweaters. Ambiance/atmosphere: my wife said it felt stuffy. It wasn’t bad to me but there wasn’t a wow factor for me either. Lots of different size parties and groups going on. Some celebrating birthdays with cake and present; some looking a dinner party scene from a Woody Allen movie. The exact words to describe escape me at the moment so I have to come back and edit my review Seating: Booths and tables naturally. Our seating kind of sucked. Imagine a narrow«V» seating arrangement with the bottom of the«V» being flat. Now put a table in the middle of that«V». That is where our table was. Surround by booths and tables. almost being like being by the kitchen entrance if you have ever sat there. My back was towards the entrance all night which I hate. At one point a guy bent over to talk to someone he knew sitting at the booth/table next to us and his butt was like a foot from out table. Not what you want to see while trying to eat appetizers. Appetizers: Calamari($ 15) and crab cake($ 18). More than enough for two people not quite for three(if your bring a growing teenager). Main course: Crapped Stuff Shrimp($ 31)(again good size the average diner but not a growing teenager), Scallop Entrée($ 34)(wife really like this…“it was delicious”) and the 12 oz filet mignon($ 46) cooked medium(this was cooked very well). All plates came out hot, which kinda surprised me. Sides: Brussels sprouts with bacon($ 10) and truffle Mac and Cheese($ 12). Enough for 3 people. Recommend both. Drinks: Just water and iced tea($ 12). One coffee at the end($ 3) They have an extensive wine list with bottles that can run you a few hundred dollars and a full bar. Waitstaff: Great. Our waiter was Bryon and he was very attentive. Our son said«I liked that guy». Overall: Enjoyable dining experience. The family enjoyed the outing. Grand total — around $ 230 to include tax and tip. Enjoy!

From the valet to the dessert our night was perfect. We arrived and were greeted by the valet. They really are the first impression of the restaurant. They were prompt and polite and helped the ladies out of the car with a smile. Our waiter Kevin was excellent. His knowledge of wines and the food was excellent and he is quite witty which made our night fun! We left stuffed and happy! We would return again!

This was my first trip to Eddie V’s Arboretum location. We arrived a few minutes early for a 6pm reservation and were sat promptly. The service was very attentive and our server was very conversational — not too much by any standards, but just right. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and even history of the restaurant and its location. We had a seafood platter to start, which was fresh and good. We sipped on a bottle of 2011 Silver Oak with dinner which was the Sea Bass — Arboretum Style, and a Prime New York Strip. Overall, the food was good. The sea bass might have been a bit overdone, but all else was good. Due to its close proximity to where I am usually in Austin, this will be a relatively normal stop when I can’t decide what to do for dinner.

Came with friends for dinner. Everything was perfect! Appetizers — the wonderful crab cake and the fried lobster. Entrees: filet mignon with Foie Gras, scallops, fish special and bone in … Deserts– banana foster, chocolate cheesecake Great service. Really great service. Smart, pleasant waiter(don’t remember his name, so sorry) Wonderful evening. Not inexpensive, but worth it for a special evening. Valet parking.

Based on the reviews on Unilocal I came here on a recent vacation to Austin. I was not disappointed. We were going to start of with the lobster tacos as an appetizer, but after the table next to us offered to try some of their calamari, we switched our order. Not sure if that is an Austin thing to offer strangers your food or just the clientele at Eddie V’s. Either way it worked out well for us because that was the best calamari I’ve ever tasted. I had the filet and my girlfriend had the red fish. Both were cooked to perfection which was nothing less than expected. This place is quite pricey but both the food and the dining experience are worth it. Both of which are worth treating yourself every once in awhile(or more often).

We went here for HH and I was really impressed. The service was great and the food was really yummy. The only reason I didn’t give them a 5-star rating was because their vegetarian options were very miniscule. The ambience is great and the food was really amazing so if you don’t have a vegetarian in your party and really like seafood then this is such a great HH spot. Sundays and Mondays are all-day happy hour the last time I checked. I will definitely be coming back here with friends!

Try the fried lobster and the shrimp appetizer — comes with boiled shrimp, lobster, crab, oysters… everything was perfect, and the wait staff is very friendly

I sat at the bar and it was the best seat in the house. The Bartender was fantastic, his recommendations were on point, and the oyster prep area was nice to watch. The lobster bisque was delicious. I was delightfully surprised by the Ahi Tuna steak… very very good. This place is great!

I was looking for a nice venue to spend with my wife on our anniversary and this Eddie V’s provided that platform. We started out with some oysters and then ordered center cut fillet and halibut for our entrees. Both dishes were well prepared and tasted great. We truly enjoyed our evening together at this site and look forward to our next visit.

This is by far my favorite special occasion restaurant, a little pricey but so worth it. I don’t eat meat except for a little fish every now and then and I must say their blackened red fish is one of the best I have ever had. The food is always amazing with portions that can be shared(especially sides). The staff is always friendly and super helpful, they hold the highest level of customer service.

Love this place. You may find better steak and seafood places, you will also pay a lot more and that is why I love this place. Great place to take friends, co workers or a date and have money after for dancing.

I came here with a party of 10 on a Tuesday night for a work dinner. The food was fantastic but I will start off with my issue first. The main issue(and at most restaurants, would have ruined my meal) was that my meal came out about 10 to 15 mins after the rest of the tables. The waiter told me that they gave my dish to another table and they were prepping a new dish. I would normally be okay with a few minutes or so but by the time my dish came, everyone at the table was done eating. Maybe I was with a group of fast eaters but that is just not acceptable. Once my dish came, I requested a box to take it to go. I wasn’t even hungry by that point because I just ended up eating sides and bread. Now if this was any other restaurant/meal that didn’t start with a massive seafood tower and 4 or 5 sides, I would have been pretty angry not being able to eat my meal. Luckily my table happen to order all of those things which all tasted incredible. The mac and cheese is to die for. Overall, everything I ate was magical but I do wish i was able to eat my dish. Sadly, I didn’t even try my filet or scallops the night I ordered it so I really don’t know how it would have been fresh but I would still come back to give it another shot.

My wife and I have been celebrating our anniversary at Eddie V’s Arboretum for a number of years. We have been fortunate to have the same waiter, RC, for the last 4 years in a row now and request him every time. We can’t say enough about him and the job he does taking care of us. He is exceptional at his job. The food is always phenomenal and we like the small things they do to make our anniversary special, but RC completes it with his personality, his passion for detail, and his ability to read people and understand where he can go with the menu and interaction. We look forward to our next visit! Please don’t change a thing!

Just left and ears about to burst from loud speakers playing rap music so loud that the car is vibrating right in front of the valet for over 20 minutes. Maybe they should relocate this Eddie V’s. After paying premium prices(and the food is great), people should be able to leave without this racket.

My dad was coming into town for my birthday so I decided to make a epic meals weekend. This was on my list. So the three of us made a trip! Made a reservation for Saturday night and it was packed! Parking was crazy but we just did the valet thing. Wait staff was AMAZING. we had one of the Kevin’s, apparently there are two, and he knew what he was doing. Obviously had worked in fine dining for many many years and knew the menu. Also knew the bar menu and what to make and was good with what. I loved it. Appetizer we ordered was the crab cake calamari mix. It was perfect. The crab cake was all crab, no filler. To eat we had scallops, swordfish(which was not over cooked and was cooked perfectly) and I had the Chilean sea bass with lump crab on top. When in Rome right? Pricy? Yes. Worth it? Yes. I love fine dining and enjoy going out, getting fancy and spending money on awesome food. If I could eat there everyday I would, or once a week. But I can’t afford it. Lol

WOW did Eddie V’s make my entire trip with their incredible food and service! From hosts, to greeters, wait staff, and servers — All parties made the experience a joy for my team! I took a break from Ann Arbor real estate marketing and thanks to Eddie V’s I was able to take the night off and enjoy the moment. I ordered the Chilean sea bass and it was delightful! Seasoned perfectly and cooked with care. Top notch restaurant — I will be back next vacation!

The professional staff is what sets Eddie V’s apart. You will be treated as an honored guest from the minute you hand your keys to the valet parking attendant and are welcomed at the door to the moment when you’ve finished an excellent meal and grab your keys to leave. These folks are pros who are thoroughly familiar with the menu and all things gastronomy. Add to this the delicious food, wine, excellent bar, outstanding atmosphere and you’ve got a great place to go for any occasion. Highly recommended.

So this guy asked me out on a date and I asked if I got to pick where we go. He said«yes». I chose Eddie V’s for 2 reasons: 1) I’ve always wanted to go there. 2) I wanted to see if he would flinch when I said«Eddie V’s». Ironically his name was Eddie but that wasn’t one of the reasons I chose the restaurant. We walk in on a Sunday night and the place is packed. There is a wait and I found out to my dismay that my date didn’t make a reservation and it’s a 30 minute wait. What a dope. Strike two for this guy.(In case you were wondering what strike one was, he was wearing jeans whereas I am dressed to the 9’s. But he did show up on time, score one point.) I find out quickly why they’re so busy. It’s happy hour all night on a Sunday so Sunday Funday at Eddie V’s is apparently THE place to be if you live around the Arboretum in Austin. Giddy up. We were seated in less than 30 minutes, yay! I was starving and wanted a bread basket to attack, which they quickly provided. The waiter, I wish I could remember his name, brought us waters promptly upon our greeting. Since I had never been there, he went through the menu with me. He was very polite, knowledgable and answered all my questions. My date suggested we just order some appetizers. Uh, excuse me? Strike three. Who asks a girl out to dinner and then limits her to order only appetizers? We selected the crab cake and the potstickers. Both were excellent. The crab cake was divine. Lotsa crabmeat with no fillers, just as our waiter described. Crab, crab and more crab. Yummy in my tummy! My date must’ve decided the date was going well enough that I was«allowed» to order an entrée. He did not order one. Oh well. I ordered one of the specials. Filet with jumbo stuffed shrimp and Sriracha battered onion rings. HOLYCOW. Everything was AMAZING. I did share my food with him, of course. Once of the best meals and dining experiences I’ve ever had. Service was top notch. We never had to want or ask for anything. Our waiter was Johnny-on-the-spot. I highly recommend this place. As for the guy, he made it for a few weeks after that. He’s been taken off the menu but I would gladly go back to Eddie V’s for their menu and service!

Sometimes, as an Austin native, I get caught up in the whole«local» «not chain restaurant» movement. And, for the most part — it stands true. Our local eateries are amazing, and why WOULD you want to eat somewhere that you could also eat at in Dallas? Eddie V’s is like the rarest of rare exception, for me. The food is not pre-prepared, out of a box, weirdly stale tasting like a lot of chains can be. This food is fresh, the waiters are friendly, and, though it’s pricey, nights here are enjoyable. If you ever get the chance to swing by and they have oysters from the gulf — try them. They will be considerably cheaper and still very delicious. I had my doubts, but I’ve always had the best luck with gulf oysters at Eddie V’s(and almost nowhere else!) Delicious, a safe bet for good food, but pricey.

I love Eddie V’s! It’s my favorite special occasion place. I’ve hosted many happy hours here, several birthdays, new job celebration, guests in town, etc. Their happy hour(4 – 7 daily) specials are great with all day happy hour on Sunday & Monday. Yippee! My most recent birthday was on a Monday, so it worked out perfectly! They reserved a table for 10 in the bar, added 2 extra chairs as our party grew & happily served the cake that we brought. Outstanding service. It was the best birthday everrrrrrr… :) The fine dining experience here is perfection. If you really want to feel special, this is the place to go. The servers are the best, always staying one step ahead. I’ve never been disappointed. The food is delicious. My favorites are the red snapper(divine!!!), asparagus, crab cakes, and truffled macaroni & cheese. I always ask for extra truffles & they never say no. Their Founders Margarita is also one of the best in town. Yummy! Have I said«the best» enough in this review? ;)
