Found a couple bugs in my salad and the manager said it is because all of their food is organic. If that’s true(although still an excuse for not thoroughly washing their greens), they should advertise somewhere that it is organic… Also, their drinks were too sweet. We didn’t even make it to trying their pizza because we were so disappointed in everything and left the restaurant.

The straciatella appetizer was unbelievable. We had it with oven roasted tomatoes and basil pesto. It’s served with fresh bread which is basically their pizza crust with parmesan melted onto it, mmmmm. We also ordered a roman style due forni pizza. I love the ultra thin crust because of the crispiness and the fact that I can have room to eat more of the pizza. The toppings were generous and the quality of everything overall was outstanding. Service was perfect and the red by the glass from Puglia was also very good.

Great service, Auri the bartender was awesome. Italian wines were good. Got to try the carpaccio.

I’m biased bc I lived in Vegas and ate at Due Forni almost 2x a week for 2 years straight so I love it. Good simple and delicious with ingredients of the highest caliber. My favorites: Polipo, Tortufo Pizza Neapolitan, Ricotta w/Honey and Pistachios and the Carpaccio. A delicious Vegetarian pizza is served with amazing pickled artichokes and red peppers. The nocchi is a new favorite. Not sure if Austin serves the Turkey meatballs on happy hour special but if so you must try it they are so delicious!

My search for the best pizza in Austin led me here one evening. Having read reviews, I had obtained reservations. Our party was seated on time and the hostess was quite nice. Our server was also very affable. The staff was good for sure. The ambiance was somewhat ‘chain-esque’ — It felt like I was in a Fridays or Ruby Tuesdays. I don’t know how else to explain it. It just did not have a unique vibe to it like so many other Austin restaurants. The other two members of my party also commented on that. One even expected the waitress to have pieces of flair. But to be fair, ambiance is important, but will sit in a barn if the pizza is good. Of course, I ordered the pizza. But to start, we had the octopus appetizer. The octopus was tender and nicely seasoned. I was a big fan of this! Yum Yum. The beet salad was also ordered. There were plenty of wonderful beets. As for the Pizza, we ordered the veggie and the magherita Pizza. I elected for the Neapolitan style. I am not a big fan of Roman style. The pizza was damn good. Crust was tasty. Sauce was just the right amount of sweetness. Overall, I approve. To summarize, good food, good pizza, and nice drink list. The ambiance décor happens to be a little stale in my opinion. That being said, it is worth the trip for the pizza.

I came here for a birthday dinner once with a large group and was surprised to find that we were some of the only people in the entire restaurant! They have a quaint little bar and a great modern Italian vibe with an upstairs loft. The first experience went well, nothing outstandingly bad or good. Last night, I tried Du Forni again for dinner with a few friends. I met them there as they were already seated upstairs. I walked in and told the host that I was meeting a group and looked upstairs and started walking. He made really awkward eye contact with me and said he knew where they were and he would show me. As we walked, I continued to stare upstairs(only because I had not realized until now there was even an upstairs area, so I was just looking out of curiosity). I could see the host continuing to stare at me uncomfortable out of the corner of my eye until he says abruptly«don’t worry, I know where they are. I was the one who sat them.» It was all very uncomfortable and awkward. He walked me to the stairs and just told me where they were after that. The upstairs didn’t feel super clean like the downstairs area, and I felt that because we were upstairs the server was a little slow to get to our table. Granted, we had ordered wine and had a lot to catch up on, it took us 45 minutes to actually order. Other than that, the food is outstanding and the wine flights are nice hefty portions! The prices are a little higher than I would expect for this type of restaurant, but you can get out of here for $ 25 or less for dinner.

Trendy, casual, hip, and relaxing all wrapped into one. Service prompt and professional! Food is tasty, tasty, and the wine list is well put together. I recommend pizza with red sauce and a bottle of Italian red wine. Cheers, ciao!

I am a big fan of neapolitan pizza. Due Forni offers two styles: neapolitan or Roma. The menu is varied with many offerings drawing appeal. Service was attentive, but not overly so. Sizable salad was a good first course. The pizza came out pretty fast following insalata course. The pizza was good and very reasonably priced. If I had one complaint, it would be that the wine list lacked a bit of focus. There were offerings from all over the world, but often just one or two of a particular type. We went on a Monday evening and had no problem getting in. Nice atmosphere, pretty good food, very good value.

A fan of neapolitan pizza, I was excited to try this place out. Bartender was nice, informative, quick. Cocktail was okay. Nothing really mindblowing. Pizza arrived EXTREMELY quickly. Like within 5 minutes of ordering it was in front of me. This was during SXSW as well. The dough and crust were fantastic. These guys have definitely done their research on that. I ordered the signature pie, Due Forni. The ingredients were alright, but nothing really stood out aside from the crust. Sauce was average and overwhelmed by the topping. The sausage kind of overtook the peppers and bacon, but I think that was by design. The sausage itself was good, but not quite what I’d expect from a signature on a fine quality pizza. All said, I ate the entire pie by myself and enjoyed it. Plus great service and decent drinks. Hence, the 4 star rating. As far as pizza goes, this place is great, but if they want to be a 5 star pizza join they need to up the quality of their sauce, cheese, and toppings.

One Sunday we decided to do a little happy hour hopping. Due Forni was open and started serving happy hour at 5:00. We arrived at 5 and were the only guests seated, but we didn’t really mind. To be honest it was a pretty strange experience. There were about 4 different people waiting on us, but they never really seemed to want to wait on us. There were only a few options on the happy hour menu and the ones we tried were really good– the bruschetta, octopus crostini, and cheese with olives. Something extra strange was that I really wanted to try the gnocchi on the happy hour menu, but our server refused. He said he didn’t like it, so he wouldn’t give it to us. OK? Maybe fair enough if there were a lot of other options, but they were already out of another thing and we’re vegetarian, so we didn’t have other options. Ok. This is weird. Otherwise, the other food was good.

One star for the shoddy service in respect to their reservations crew. My husband and I knew we would be close to downtown around dinner time for my daughter’s first birthday. So we decided to make plans to meet family for dinner. Being the logistics nazi that I am, I made the reservation two months ago. I perused Unilocal for a fun place that was kid-friendly. That’s when I came across Due Forni. Note there was a «yes» answer in the category marked«good for kids.» So I went ahead and made a reservation at Due Forni. When Corby, the manager, asked if we were celebrating a special occasion, I let him know that we were having a casual get together in celebration of my one year old daughter’s birthday. Two months later, I get a call from Julia, who handles their reservations, to confirm our reservation. She verifies that they are having a birthday party for my daughter and then asks if I was told about their cake cutting fee– that I had to pay 2.00 a slice if I was to bring a cake to their restaurant. It would 24 extra bucks total on our ticket. But I had already ordered the cake and my girl’s birthday is just a couple of days away. I don’t have the time to look elsewhere. So I accepted the extra charges. Yet I received another call from Julia about an hour later, letting me know that the owner was«really concerned» about my child making a giant mess with her cake.(I explained to Julia in our previous conversation that my daughter would have her own cake for pictures purposes, or a «smash cake»). I wasn’t sure what she was getting at. Concerned because they doesn’t want our business? That I could keep my reservation but leave my baby at home? What does that mean?! She couldn’t really articulate. Julia acted like she had no idea what to tell me. The only thing she said was«the owner doesn’t have any children and so he just doesn’t understand.» I asked her why he didn’t call me himself. They had this reservation for two months, and I’m just now receiving these annoying calls from this owner’s messenger? Julia apologized and said that there was a recent change of staff and they didn’t take notice of these details until now… that she was new… Again mentioning that the owner doesn’t have kids and doesn’t understand. I took the hint. I canceled our reservation. Shame on you Due Forni. Shame on you for dropping the ball and putting me in a lurch just two days before my child’s birthday. Shame on you for presenting yourselves as kid-friendly and not being upfront about your«policies.» Shame on the owner for his pretentious attitude. But alas, there are a bunch of amazing pizza places around town.

While it can be hard to stray from the delicious BBQ in Texas, Due Forni offers a nice alternative in the heart of downtown Austin. And, if you simply cannot step away from the brisket there, then Due Forni also has a location Las Vegas(because there are such limited food options there, right?). The thing that makes Due Forni unique is that they actually have two different specialty ovens to create two different types of pizza: Neapolitan and Roman. Neapolitan has a soft crust, while Roman has a thin, crispy one. I lean more towards Neapolitan-style than the cracker-like crusts, so I ordered the Neapolitan version of their namesake pizza, the Due Forni. The Due Forni has San Marzano tomatoes, Bufala mozzarella, house made sausage, bacon, piquillo peppers, and basil. Not being a fan of any kind of peppers, I just had mine without the piquillo peppers. I thoroughly enjoyed my pizza and was especially impressed with the rich Bufala mozzarella and the sweet sauce. Due Forni makes some Italian social plates in addition to their pizza. Plus, besides the wine mentioned in their name, they also serve beer and cocktails. Good Neapolitan pizza is not what I associate with Austin, Texas, but Due Forni offers just that.

This is more like 4.5 stars rounded up, but still a very good place. Anytime I buy a discount coupon online, as I did here, I tend to be a little leery of the business I’m going to. What, exactly, is keeping people away? And honestly, I can’t answer that about Due Forni, both because the experience was great and because the house was pretty packed by the time we rolled out around 8PM on a Friday. So, here’s the deal: open kitchen, two giant ovens(what the name means, btw) that bake everything, thin-crust artisanal pizzas, a little pasta, some baked or cold appetizers, not much else. It’s designed to keep churning things out, and churned out they were. We did one Roman-style(slightly thicker) pie and the(fabulously crispy) Neapolitan. I may have that backwards, though. Ask your server. In any case, the flash-cooking times works out two ways, in that you get a hot and delicious pie and it’s über fast.(I don’t know. Is Über fast? I’ve never Ubered.) Pro tip: thin pie cools quickly, so do one at a time for peak awesomnity. Speaking of asking your server: the service is fantastic. Collaborative in the best way, you’ll be seated by a host/ess, chatted up by a sommelier, have your order taken by a server, and then maybe have food run by someone else. Everyone’s exceptionally pleasant and it’s prompt and evenly paced without being hurried, which is exactly what the best service does.(Dear Flying Saucer: can you come here for dinner and watch them? Because I know that this is what you are going for, and yet you fail so spectacularly that it’s avant-pop art to watch.) Wine markups are reasonable and selection is solid. Atmosphere is also wonderful: there’s an upstairs balcony overlooking the floor and on sightline with the soundless westerns they project on the wall.(Once upon a Time in the West, I think?) It’s romantic and great for people-watching and, if you are a nihilist, you can fling a pint glass over the railing like that Begby dude from Trainspotting. Okay, don’t do that. Begby was a douche. Anyway, Due Forni is awesome and you should go if you like awesome things.

Tonight I was glad to have suggested Due Forni for dinner. I’ve only been here a handful of times and each time I wonder why I don’t frequent it more often, especially their very enticing happy hour!($ 5 glasses of wine and $ 5 appetizers) Tonight we had the kale salad and ordered a pizza, we ordered the Vegetariana for half of the pizza and the Due Forni for the other half. They give you a choice of a Neopolitan or Roman style crust, which is nice if you’re trying to minimize your carb intake ;) haha. It is anticipated to receive good service when dining in certain places downtown, but it is a real treat and quite refreshing when you receive above and beyond service. This was our case tonight with our server Ari, he was friendly, attentive and made some great suggestions. Needless to say, we plan on returning soon to try more of their delicious pizzas one of their entrees, and also happy hour!

Great room, open, pretty bar, open to ovens, spaghetti italian movies playing on wall, even the banquette seating is in the open so all have a great view. Really brilliantly designed open space. Interesting wine selection by the glass, lots of fun things to try in a good wide range of prices and flavors. Mozzarella, well, it’s good quality motz, and the bread it’s served with is excellent, of course from the pizza ovens. But it’s a lot of cheese, so just get this if you want a lot of cheese. Tried both the panzanella and spinach salads, both very nice. Really liked the stinky cheese and dried fruit in the spinach and the croutons and vinaigrette on the panzanella. Pizza — shared the house pizza, Due Forni, Neapolitan. It was freaking awesome. The crunchy bacon put it over the top delicious. Really looking forward to trying more types of their pizza. Great casual choice before a Paramount show, or anytime you’re in the area.

I came in for a night downtown. Wanted pizza so walked into Due Forni. The staff asked for my name and used it throughout the night. Rarely does that happen to me so that was a nice touch. They whole time they were pretty friendly. I ordered a Due Forni(pizza whose name matches the title). It was really good. The rest of the menu is pretty awesome too and I’ll definitely have to come back and try those.

I really wanted to like Due Forni because the location is convenient for me(within walking distance so I don’t worry about parking) and because they have great happy hour specials, but this place is just kinda creepy. The restaurant itself is enormous and the staff asked some odd questions. I went with a friend to happy hour. The host asked us if we «actually live in Austin(wtf?!?) and then awkwardly asked for my last name(the place was empty so no need to put my name on a list). The $ 5 happy hour wine was decent, but the waiter kept taking away the happy hour menu for some reason. We had bruschetta(excellent) and octopus(too salty). The waiter kept trying to get us to order a pizza even though we explained we were there for happy hour. He had a pretentious attitude and was upset that we only wanted appetizers(we were the only two people in the place). After the waiter explained that the Tiramisu was made with«cheese» and not mascarpone and spilling my water, we were ready to leave. A woman dressed like my mother brought the check(not the image I wanted on date night). Overall, Due Forni seems like a place for college kids and tourists. I probably won’t go back anytime soon.

This is good and by good I mean very good. Reserve a table using Open Table or you may die of old age waiting to get in because it is so popular. I suggest sticking with the minimal types of pizza so you can really taste the dough. Leave the monster builds to another pizza joint. A hint. Order a second one to take home that is different. You will get the munchies later. While not as good fresh out of the oven originally it is still pretty darn good. I love the Spaghetti Western thought that comes to mind in here. I have been to the studio in Rome where a lot were made long ago and this spot would have been perfect there.

Due forni directly translates to delicious food in Italian. It doesn’t. But it should. We’ve been to Due Forni twice for dinner. The first time was when it was still fairly new and then again yesterday evening. The location is great and the space itself is nice. They’ve got some upstairs seating that overlooks the restaurant, bar tables, seats by the window(good for people watching), and some seating that’s closer to the big ovens. Both times that I’ve eaten here, I’ve had the gnocchi. I usually like to branch out and try different things when j go places multiple times, but oh wow the gnocchi’s so good that I couldn’t resist. It’s got peas, cheese, and a black truffle cream sauce. Annndddd it has bacon in it. So so good. Boyfriend got the margherita pizza and it was fantastic too. I’d like to go back for their happy hour or brunch even.

I’ve wavering on this review, between a 3 or 4 star rating, but I think my initial high hopes for this place made me drop it down to a 3 star. To start: it’s on 6th, so parking is terrible. The restaurant itself is kind of nice though. You’re greeted by a large bar and high ceilings as you walk in. The seating area isn’t terribly large and an old spaghetti western is always projected on the back wall. The walls are decorated with kitsch from these movies, which starkly contrasts with the otherwise classy vibe. The restrooms are located in an odd location, downstairs and down a hallway from the restaurant seating area. It’s an awkwardly long walk for a restroom and the ladies’ one only has two stalls. Weird. For food: I was a bit disappointed with the pizza. I tried the speck pizza on thin crust(romana) and a slice of the bianca al prosciutto cotto on thick crust(napoletana). I found the thick crust to be too chewy and the thin crust to be too… burned. I love my pizzas with a bit of char, but this was too much for my tastes. The toppings were ok, but I was expecting more flavor from the speck. As disappointed as I was with the pizza, I was blown away by the mozzarella bar. This is amazingly good cheese! I may go back JUST for the cheese. Yum!
