Davey Tree Expert Co

I hired this tree company to do a deep root fertilization. They scheduled that for a date I was out of town. When I returned, I was surprised and very sad to find the biggest and oldest tree in my front yard in distress with no leaves. I was upset that the arborist with Davey Tree did not notice this or advise me that this tree was dead or dying. They immediately came back out and advised that tree was alive, but seriously infected. This obviously was not their fault, and the invaders had been at work for many months. I asked for an estimate to try and save the tree. They sprayed twice and saved it! Astonishingly, they refused to charge for this service! Wow. Davey Tree went above and beyond and provided customer service that I was NOT entitled to. This is a great company with very responsive folks running it.

I hired Davey thru Tom Chaky (manager) to remove and replace one dead tree in my front lawn and to diagnose treat a problem in a long line of hedge bushes in my backyard and replace two of the dead bushes, also to trim the oak canopy from over the roof around the house structure. All these items were estimated at about $ 1200. Wile the trimmers were at the property I decided to «add» more oak trimming, so that the entire backyard oaks be trimmed too.
After getting a price quote verbally on the phone of $ 2000 for «everything» I agreed and the additional work was done.
I received a bill for $ 3700+ and was shocked to say the least and after taking to Tom Chaky he stated that their normal rate is «$ 2,000 per day»! but he will look into it and call me back (never did)… well, I paid the $ 3700 bill reluctantly rather than argue about how there could be such a great misunderstanding? in prices.
The front tree was properly replaced, the oak canopy over the roof was properly trimmed and the hedges were treated and deep root fertilized.
None the less I did email Tom Chaky some pictures showing several oak branches were never «sealed» where cut, the two dead bushes were never replaced and two large dead branches were never cut. I had my local gardener finish the job.
Very dissapointed at the unfinished work, lack of email and phone response, lack of inspection of final job by a supervisor.
As for the «$ 2000 per day minimum», remember… that comes out to be $ 512,000 per year (after weekends and holidays).
Bottom line …
I can get a lot of oak trimming for «$ 2,000 per day minimum» ($ 512,000 year !!)

These guys are great. Easy to contact, easy to get pricing. Work is always done on time and in a professional manner. I have had 2 Arizona Ash trees removed by Davey (one before it self destructed and one afterwards). They take great care of my Oak tree. They will do any size job. I have had them roof clearance pruning and large removals of hazard trees. So happy with them I never even think about using anyone else.
