Came here after a disastrous experience at FD bar and grill(please read my post on FD before going). We had a large party of about 15 people. They were short staffed so they said we had to be split into a parties of 8. However, they got us all right next to each other and we had 2 or 3 servers, one was a manager! Had to be patient because again they were short staffed, but you could tell they were working hard. They did such an amazing job. They were so friendly, courteous, and helpful. They saved my little cousin’s 20th bday dinner so thank you guys! Oh and by the way, we were at the one in pflugerville on 35… that location didn’t come up to me for some reason.

So my girlfriend and I went to cheddar’s for the first time in Austin. We were sat within 5 minutes of putting our name in. We had a booth in the bar area. Alan greeted us shortly after we sat down(he had a rowdy 9 top with kids so) he was very polite. We started with chips and queso with the ground beef on the side. And two Maui margaritas, it was excellent, the queso didn’t harden up in 5 minutes like most quesos I’ve had in Austin. Ground beef was a nice touch too. Then I had the steak and shrimp, it was really good steak cooked to a perfect medium. Shrimp was very crunch and pretty meaty. Alan checked up on us multiple times he was awesome. Hands down best service I have gotten in Texas period. If you come here ask for Alan, he will take good care of you. Not to mention the price point here is AMAZING! cheap, flavorful, and a good punch on the margaritas. All in all great experience will be coming back.

The food has really gone downhill over this last year. Waitstaff too. We waited 20 minutes for our waiter to appear and take drink/food order, then waited another 30 minutes for food.

Well, before I even stepped foot into the place I could smell this stench coming from the building. When I went in I noticed right away that it smelled like old milk. It was gross. I figured it was because they had just opened so decided to still eat there. The waiter and the people who work there are very nice, but when I got the menu the pages stuck together and there was crust on the side of them also. The food was so/so and a hour or so after getting home my stomach started to kill me. For a couple of days after my stomach was very uneasy then finally let up. I will never eat there again. The only reason there is a star there is because of the people who work there. You’re better off going to Chuy’s that’s like 30 seconds away from Cheddars.

Good service, bad food. I ordered the half rack of ribs and chicken tenders. The tenders were promptly sent back for being more cold than warm. The ribs had a layer of fat that made them pretty much inedible. The upside was the hot Chocolate Chip cookie sundae. Very good.

My husband and I went to Cheddar’s on Tuesday. We have gone there many times and the food was always good. Well something has happened to Cheddar’s. I order my standard fare, steak done medium, baked potato and broccoli. The steak was bloody, couldn’t cut it with the steak knife provided. It was a hunk of bloody gristle. Potato was cold and the broccoli had a funny aftertaste. My husband ordered chicken fried steak and only said it wasn’t very good and left most of it. I never mentioned this to the waiter. What could he do but bring us more bad food. If the kitchen can’t even get the potato and broccoli right why would I desire anything else from that kitchen. BTW, the waitstaff was excellent.

I am writing a review about a poor and yet good experience I had at the same time with Cheddar’s. I was not happy when I found a hair in my food, but the manager and server were super friendly. They both offered me a discount plus dessert on the house. Although I turned down the dessert, I was satisfied with the price. I never wanted to go back again to any Cheddar’s. But I gave it a second thought, and when I went to eat at this Cheddar’s another time, I was impressed with my waiter’s attitude. The only thing that bothered me was a worker laughing very loudly and disruptively. She must have been on a break because she was sitting and talking with another worker. Overall, Cheddar’s will never be more than three stars in my book. It seems like they will always have room for improvement. Either way, I did like the food, which was a tad bit worse tasting than Chili’s or Applebee’s. The customer service was about four stars because of the laughing co-worker, the hair incident was two stars, and the taste of the food was about three stars, which makes three stars overall.

We walked in with 9 tables open and waited for 15 minutes to be seated… for what??? When asking the manager why we couldn’t be seated she just said it will be a few more minutes?! ?! Really. If I wasn’t hungry and had three kids ready to eat, I would have just walked out. It will be my last time here though

Would never go again to Cheddars management has a serious issue, there is harassment and that’s not called for if a manager feels like they don’t want you there they tell you to leave, I would never go back and will be calling home office tomorrow because of course it’s always one sided. Staff is rude and so is management why would you allow this to happen

I really wish my experience at Cheddar’s had been better. On arrival, we were seated near a window facing the sun in a side room with three tables having small children and wished for a quitter table. We were moved to a booth. Service was slow even though the restaurant was not more than a third full when we arrived. A lot of noise from the bar area carries into our dining area but we were able to carry on a conversation. Had to go and get our own silverware. The pot pie was small and just so-so. The cup of potato soup was lukewarm what there was of it. What a tiny cup! The whitefish on a bed of rice was just OK. Nothing to have again. The mini desserts were a nice, economical way to enjoy the end of the meal without overloading on sugar. Coffee was good. But, all in all, we have no desire to return. Yes, Cheddar’s has attractive prices, but the atmosphere, service level, and food are not better than average restaurant chain fare.

This review is mostly geared towards the parking lot. They have all these shrubs along where you would open your car door. Put an 8 inch scratch in my door where a 1.5 inch branch cut to blend in just gouged the crap out of the door when I parked. Would be so easy for them to just cut all the shrubs along where your car door opens. Seems simple enough, right? Also they are SLOW at refilling your drinks. Like very slow.

Staff sucks. Waited for 15 min to get our drink order after staff got done arguing with each other. Ordered food only half our order came. I don’t think there is any management here. This one waitress keeps running to the table of her friends behind us acting like a 12 year old. I’m fixing to grab her by the hair if she swings it over my food again. I will never come back here I do not recommend this place. Horrible experience. …

We have dined here dozens of times and it seems like the food portions are about right, but service from the kitchen seems to be getting noticeably slower. Maybe we’re impatient for their consistently good food! :-)

I havent been in to eat in awhile. However food always good, prices very reasonable. Alcohol drinks are great, prices again great. Omg love their alcohol mudslide. Servicebfor me has been hit or miss, yes a lot younger servers but w/the amount of servers hired total and the turn rate for servers hired, comento expect it. I do jus sit at or in bar area wen keith is working. Neverbhad bad experience w/keith as my server\bartender. I do recommend Cheddars

Service sucks! Had to walk out… Was greeted with hostility and spoke to waitress about it. Then she sent over her minion(probably her bf). He made things worse, told her not to send him over again but fell upon deaf ears. He once again address me even though it wasn’t his section or his table. Situation was very hostile and I told manager about it only to be confronted again by this goon. Too many young kids that don’t care about service work there. I will never go back and seriously regret choosing this place. Wish I had got his name the waitress was Sarah but she just took too long to get to us and rushed us through our ordering process. But it wouldn’t of been that bad if she hadn’t sent anyone else over. Place sucks though.

How do you rate an upscale Burger King which serves alcohol? In frigging huge mugs. Which are blue. And frozen. Sugar. It’s a place where you would hear a patron say, «I’ve only had 5 and I don’t even have a buzz yet!». Well, they are like 5 bucks or something. Everyone who works there remind me of Hooter’s girls, you know the one’s who are just future strippers in training. NOTHINGWRONGWITHTHAT. My analogy is that I hope these servers are cutting their teeth in the food industry here and heading to greener pastures. Every one was pleasant and engaging when prompted. There was one server who had«Trainer» on their shirt, apparently one of their seasoned veterans. Nice to know we were in expert hands. People watching was great so we ordered ourselves up a glass of wine and chilaxed.

This place mmm so good AND affordable. Think the bad stars are because it’s in a um… how do I say this nicely? Miserable part of town. Money doesn’t make you happy!

I don’t know why this place gets so slammed on reviews. I think it’s a notch above big chain restaurants for sure. You wouldn’t think people hate it so much because the place is always packed at this location. I’ve only had the bacon cheeseburger here and for only $ 5.99 it’s pretty hard to complain about it. The burger was well seasoned and it was piled high with crispy strips of bacon. The onion rings were also delicious and they give you a huge tower of them. Yeah the service could have been better but they were pretty slammed so we understood. Overall I’m a fan of this place.

Cheddars is our favorite chain restaurant. The food is always delicious and the service is great. They have a fun fish tank that adds to the ambiance.

So. Cheddar’s isn’t a gourmet restaurant. I wouldn’t say its fancy or special in anyway. The food is cheap. That being said I absolutely love Cheddar’s. I think this type of restaurant is on every corner street in America. Usually you get a Chillie’s or Appleby’s., both of which I would rather dine in hell than eat at. Cheddar’s has very plain food. You can get Steak or Chicken Strips you traditional American dishes. I am a big fan of the spinach dip here. Its just spinach covered in Alfredo sauce but there’s nothing wrong with that. I wanted to give Cheddar’s 4 stars I do love it here it just doesn’t excite me in anyway.
