I freaking love this place. I could eat here twice a day, every day and never get tired of it. I’ve eaten here on average 9 times per month over the last 1.5 years. I enjoy that you don’t have to choose what to order, you just get what they are serving(soup, salad, grains, beans, blanched greens, something pickled, and an entrée like a taco or steamed veggies). The lunch menu changes to something completely different at 5:30pm. You can check what they are currently serving on their website. They always have Tacos for dinner on Thursday which are amazing. Their suncheese condiment is also off the chain, so be on the lookout for when it’s on the menu. Some people might say $ 12 is expensive, but when you take into account that tax is included and you don’t have to tip then a comparable restaurant price would be $ 9 and change. Not to mention that you get a ton of food that’s vegan and organic. I always leave stuffed but feel so good about what I put in my body. If you come frequently enough, buy a gift card for $ 150 and get $ 162 worth of credit(a free meal, essentially). I love the hibiscus tea(nile valley brand) and their salads are usually awesome(they use nuts instead of oil). Their grounds and dining room are so peaceful, you’d never know you were in central Austin. The only thing I don’t like is that they stop serving food at 8:30pm which is way too early. I also wish they offered wifi.

I am not vegan, so I am not sure of the standard for vegan dining. The food was very bland, obscure, and unsatisfying in my opinion. The restaurant smells like a musty cafeteria(which is basically what it is). The grounds are very pretty, but if you eat outside you may be «forgotten.» We waited about 45 minutes for our plates and after going in and asking for our food three times. If you are a «foodie» this is not the restaurant for you. If you are vegan and/or a very strict healthy eater, this might be for you. We went out for pizza after this meal.

This is one of my favorite places to go. Peaceful, easy, good for all 3 generations that we often arrive with. Once in awhile there is something one of us isn’t a big fan of, but for the most part the«surprise food»(I say this because we never peek at what will be arriving at our table prior to going) is so good we even recommend this place to our flesh-shredding carnivore friends. For those of you, who like us are vegan or vegetarian, you will welcome the variety. Plus they price the food with discounts for kids and seniors… even free for kids under 3. And the kids and elders do really enjoy coming here, there is a good vibe here for all.

The grounds are so zen and relaxing, it’s a little hidden gem of Austin. Maybe I was there on an off day, but there are better vegan meals to be had at the same price in many places around town. The kitchen is cafeteria style, you pay at the front and then help yourself to soup and salad, then the staff fixes you an entrée plate. For a health-oriented menu, I was disappointed that some of the veggies seemed to be frozen and the salad was your typical romaine/cabbage mix(the sesame seed dressing was very good though). An interesting place to visit and worth checking out once.

Tucked inside of a little Paradise is the best vegan restaurant we’ve eaten that yet — anywhere It’s relaxed atmosphere and little shop full of macrobiotic books and goodies helps you to understand more about the diet We stayed in the area for five days and ate here every day

Been here on both visits to Austin and I think I will continue to go back every time. I even got a cookbook to take home with me so I could recreate the recipes I loved so much! I’m not vegetarian or vegan, or anywhere close, but I do enjoy a good meal that is filled with flavor. For the entry price, you get soup, salad, a choice of drink(all these are self-serve) and a generous helping of their food for the day which can be found either upon entry at the payment area or on their website. If you are still hungry(even my boyfriend who is a big guy who works out regularly was satiated!) you can get a second plate for a $ 2 donation. Dessert is extra but ranges from $ 2-$ 4 and they have a decent variety of cookies, tarts, and puddings. When you’re done, you can take your dishes up to a window near the door for the dishwasher to handle. They also have a store inside to peruse books and ingredients commonly used in the macrobiotic diet the menu is often modeled after. The atmosphere is relaxing as well, with gentle lighting, windows surrounding you looking into the neighboring preschool playground and a beautiful pathway and garden.

Wonderful flavors. Quaint, casual atmosphere. We paid and were self-served to soup and salad. Their tea was also delicious. They serve you with the entrée which changes daily depending on the produce. Love the healthy options! A good break from all the greasy food that ATX has to offer. Worth trying whether you’re into healthier options or not.

After a few days of tex mex, meat and food truck frolics, this lunch was a much needed digestive reset. A very relaxing environment and a deal in the area for organic veggie lunch. $ 12 soup, salad, entrée and drink. Our only wish was for a little more spice.

From the moment you pass under the welcoming canopy of bamboo and tunnel of lights, you know you are in for a wonderful treat. Yes, you get your own utensils here and you get in line and plate your own food… but to me, all this adds to the enjoyment of community and the thought that people, who care enough about providing safe, healthy… nay, ‘beneficial’ food,…toiled lovingly to get this to you. This is food that may taste just interesting enough to be better than ok but the twist is that you know this is the way to eat right. It is as much about dinner as an experience as it is an educational event. I gotta get into this. Who doesn’t want to make themselves better? I highly recommend Casa de Luz. It is beyond good… it is transformative.

This place was everything I expected and much more! After looking at Unilocal reviews, I knew that I had to eat here when I visited Austin with my parents. We came here for dinner, and the walkway to the restaurant was lit with lights and plants, so cute! After paying first, you can grab your drink, some salad, and some soup, and then find a table to sit down. I like how the drinks were not sweetened; i think there was iced tea and a hibiscus tea. The main meal is brought out to your table after sitting down for a bit. Everything was absolutely delicious! So flavorful and very satisfying.

Casa de breathtaking stroll to the dining hall. Casa de yum. Casa de best pecan pie this side of the sweet tea line. Casa de where did all that stress go? Nevermind, I don’t wanna know — you keep it but don’t compost that mess, toss it in the burn pile. Casa de plz stay here forever, don’t go. Stay. Feed me. I love you.

Casa De Luz is a one of a kind dining experience. One of the few places to get a true Macrobiotic meal served with love in Austin. The menu varies depending on what is in season, but is designed with the intention of being nourishing, nutritious and yummy. Each meal comes with soup, salad and herbal tea. The atmosphere is dreamy and the staff are kind. I absolutely love coming here to relax and refuel after a long day of swimming at Barton Springs or kayaking around Red Bud Isle. They even have their cookbooks for sale, so you can try to recreate the experience at home.

Casa De Luz is such a nice break from all the BBQ places in Austin. Plus it’s a pretty damn good deal for organic vegan eating. You get all you can eat soups and salad and their main course is hearty and authentic. It feels a bit yuppie, and prestigious but the food is INCREDIBLE. I totally recommend this place if you’re a looking a for a fresh meal.

I’ve recently gone vegetarian, and was contemplating going vegan — so a friend of mine took me here to expand my horizons. I guess you have to understand what you’re in for here. The food was good; kale, brown rice, salad, soup — all filling. But bland. I get eating raw/clean and overall healthy. But food can taste AMAZING using seasonings in moderation. I feel like this place is a little high on itself, and is a disappointment to food enthusiasts. Culinary can be an art, after all. That being said, if the clean/pure/vegan is what you’re after — $ 12 here will get you a buffet of soup, salad, and a plate of well balanced food.

Heaven on earth. How do I give this place more stars? They deserve star awards from the bright Texas sky. Macrobiotic delicious food at its finest. Grand experience overall. Calming peaceful surroundings, people and tasty foods and teas to nourish you from the inside out. And by out look at how amazing everyone’s skin is here. All the attractive healthy people running and dining at this place. Proof is in the pudding people. Just look around. Macrobiotic foods will make you look radiant and feel calm and zen with all your lines of chi flowing well. There is a cool book on the shelf about how to tell health by look of the facial skin. So true. Many neat books and recipes. Good luck trying to cook as good as these experts and keep the costs down. I LOVE the process of paying one price $ 7 for breakfast $ 12 lunch and dinner and serve your ownself soup and salad and be given a plate of plenty goodness. Overall experience is grand and feels like you are at an exquisite summer camp mess hall for smart enlightened adults at an expensive spa retreat. Magnificent

Drove 3 hours from DFW to eat there. Need I say more? Casa De Luz is everything I want from a restaurant: organic, vegan, gluten-free, healing, and delicious! Let me start of by warning that parking could be a pain. They don’t have a parking lot so you either park on the streets or at the paid parking lot in front of the restaurant. Upon entering the premises, you will feel like you’re in a different place. There are so many trees, and wind chimes, and dream catchers, and little benches under the trees, and… you get the point: Its lovely. I had to spend a few minutes trying to find the restaurant though, so let me say the little building at the very end(next to the playground. I knoww!) is the restaurant. Once you enter, you pay at the front desk($ 9 for breakfast, $ 12 for lunch, and dinner). Then you get your(herbal) tea or drinks(hibiscus iced tea), as well as soup and salad and seat yourself. Your main dish will be served by the waiters. You can also buy desserts for $ 4 each. What can I say about the food? I wish I could eat there everyday. I wish I lived in Austin. Everything I ate was simple yet so very delicious. Was going mmm at every bite. The cashew dressing on the salad was a winner. Their warm soup was perfect for the rainy day. For the main dish, they served Quinoa(cooked in a way I never ate before… lightly salted and with onions, raisins, and almonds), Kale with tahini sauce(a delicious combination), blanched green beans(with slivered roasted almonds), Mashed pumpkin with coconut cream and walnuts(beats any desserts any day!), and sauerkraut. One drawback however is I wished I could eat more. I wished for a second serving and I didn’t know how to get it(I didn’t try enough. my bad).

Delicious with a dreamy atmosphere. You enter, pay a flat rate, and serve yourself soup/salad. Then your main course is brought to you. I absolutely love the calm and natural vibes I get from this place. The outside and in are both equally charming. The kind of restaurant that you’d think was operated by woodland fairies: P

The menu is Casa De Luz changes every day, but it’s always vegan, organic, and gluten-free. You pay a set fee and get to try everything on the menu that day. It’s healthy, and it is a great concept — definitely a unique place. Additionally, it’s on a very pretty property! However, the food is just okay. You’re not going to have your mind blown by any of the food here. Definitely a good place if you’re feeling the need for something very healthy though!
