You know that weekly column in the Statesman that is something like the style police street cam … they find someone looking kinda stylish and ask them«where are you going in this outfit?», «where did you get it?» «who’s your fav designer?», «what’s the last article of clothing you bought?» … I hate that column but I read it every time. So why am I telling you about this with a BR review? Well, I always thought my response if they dare ever ask me «who’s your fav designer?»(or what in the hell are you wearing) … would be «is Banana Republic a designer?» And if they asked me to define my style, I would respond with something like urban professional sporty girl with midwest roots meets organic gardener. Ok, back to the review … BR is one of the few places that stays trendy yet slightly satisfies the not-a-size-6 over-30 somewhat moderate professional dresser. And they are always nice even if I walk in in sporty girl or organic gardening attire.

I recently rediscovered Banana Republic. I get comfortable business clothes here. When you don’t want think about shopping, just grab something from here, it’s bound to look decent. It’s rather tidy, and the hardwood floor is very loud when you walk on it. The fitting rooms have VERY sexy lighting. So if checking yourself out is your thing, be warned. Also, they’ve got some killer sales sometimes.

Banana Republic is a great place for classic, attractive clothing. You know when you need a pair of white slacks or stylish top. They are now located at the Domain and not at the Arboretum, by the way. Oh wait, THE Domain. Sheesh. Any way, I’m not a big Domain fan but I do love Banana. I paid $ 39.00 for a great silk blouse in December. They run sales all the time. My friend who is a shopping queen spent under $ 100 for 6 items at their winter sale. She sort of forgot to mention the sale to me though and I missed out. Last summer when they had their spring items marked down I found a great fitting pair of taupe-ish slacks for $ 19.99. You have to go at the right time of the year but it seems like I find a sale whenever I go. Being a sales fanatic I know for certain that I save lots of money spending it.
