After reading some of the reviews on this place, I was quite skeptical about it, and thought about cancelling the appointment, however, I am glad I went. Everyone was very nice. The front office folks are super friendly and Dr. Ahr and Dr. Trull were very friendly and professional. I had a very pleasant experience and I would definitely recommend them to people I know.

I would give this office negative 400 stars if possible. I have never witnessed another doctor with such a blatantly selfish and foul disregard for patient care. I am in the process of filing formal complaints against this office and currently seeking legal counsel.
I came to this office with a written referral from my PCP and a pre-​authorization from my health insurance who confirmed that Dr. Ahr is in my network, is contracted with my insurance company for billing and that the services rendered were 100% covered by my plan and I would only have to pay two $ 35 copays.
After services were rendered, Frances incorrectly told me that they were not contracted with my insurance company and blatantly refused to file my claim with the insurance company after I asked multiple times. She told me I had no choice but to pay out of pocket and request reimbursement from my health insurance company. It’s not like I could just walk out without paying — so I paid $ 750 out of pocket. I did file for reimbursement with my health insurance company but their policy is to pay for the services rendered directly to the doctors office.
This is the best part. Dr Ahr told me VERBATIM that the NEGOTIATED RATE (as in, negotiated by both parties, contracted, signed and dotted) was not enough money for her, refused the payment from Humana, and then of course would not reimburse me a penny of the $ 680 I unnecessarily paid out of pocket (as a reminder, which I was forced to pay because Frances fraudulently claimed they were not contracted with my (confirmed to be contracted) health insurance company and simply refused to even try to submit the claim in the first place).
I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure a doctor’s office can’t legally refuse to accept a health insurance plan that they’ve entered into a contract with, force you to pay out of pocket based on fraudulent information, and/​or refuse a payment from the health insurance company because they’re «not making enough money» off me — forget that I just overpaid almost $ 700, it’s in their bank account so why would they care?
It’s no surprise they have so many 1 star reviews… If you haven’t been there yet and are considering going… STAY AWAY!

So I was sent here by my primary care doctor to confirm my childhood diagnosis for add. I have yet to see my results but found this to be a positive and helpful experience. No joke I was here for 3ish hours, test after test ending with the most boring test ever. However, Gabrielle who was administering my tests was delightful. She tried to make it go as fast as possible for me and seemed to really get the challenges living with add presents. I look forward to getting my results, which they told me would be 2 weeks and would be in my doctors hands at my next appointment.

Let me just start by saying that I took my 6 year old son here who is on the autism spectrum (high functioning, mainstream classroom) and who has been in loads of different therapies over the past 4.5 years and I have never felt compelled to write a negative review. For starters, this practice seems to see a lot of kids there and the waiting room, which the kids are expecting to wait in ALONE while the parents are being interviewed, has nothing for kids to do except watch TV. It’s kind of dank and depressing as well. Finally it’s time for my son, who has been sitting around for at least an hour with nothing to do, to go sit still doing extremely rote activities to find out if he has ADHD. The tester comes out of the room shortly after they’ve begun and says to me (in front of my child), «maybe if you come in, he’ll be more cooperative». Way to win him over! She was cold and obviously annoyed by him because he wasn’t loving saying list after list of numbers and letters. Now, I am a social worker and have worked in a psychiatric treatment center where part of my job was to assess and diagnose my clients (children). This woman was awful. She had no idea how to build rapport with children or how to motivate them to get through excruciatingly mind numbing tasks. I’m not sure what these lists were for but apparently my son becoming silly and saying things wrong was too much for her to handle. I fear for a really out of control kiddo to try to go there for testing. After receiving the results, it’s like I am reading about someone else. They are completely inaccurate and not useful at all in treatment planning for him. Heed my warning and don’t waste your money!

I have been thinking about this review for quite some time.
So, I have anxiety. Nope, not just the kind where you get nervous about that test exam. The kind that has big labels that come from a shrink’s book. Social anxiety disorder, Panic disorder, Obsessive compulsive disorder, Agoraphobia, and Generalized anxiety disorder. You might be thinking I just like to collect disorders as a hobby, but not so much.
I went to Austin Psychological & Testing Center, because my regular doctor «made me.» She said the anxiety was getting out of control, so I listened. Appointments were on time. The employees explained everything, all the tests, and what would happen. Lots of questions. I mean, like tons of them. More tests, even an IQ test (which I freaked out over and cried through). Finally, a phone call, and can I please come in for results.
Surely. I sit down with one of the APTC doctors, and she reads through my file. She tells me everything I already know. I ask «What now? How can we fix it?» She replies that they cannot help me, because my anxiety is «off the charts.» (Sidenote: telling that to a person with severe anxiety makes them cry and panic.) I ask her «well what do i do? i mean, if you can’t help me, then where do i go? I came to your psychological center so I can be fixed.»
She tells me to try Austin State Hospital.
Ouch.
I left in tears, and a full on panic attack. And I didn’t leave my house for a long, long time.
