Went to get tattooed with a buddy by CA transplant Travis Butchart. He’s amazing as per usual. Great atmosphere at this shop, good location and individual rooms. Travis’s artistic capabilities always amaze me. I asked something rather specific and he was able to deliver with exactly what I wanted. Got another tattoo by Travis at the Atomic Tattoo on MLK. It’s awesome per usual. Nice setup and friendly staff. Travis went over what I wanted and also encouraged me to double-​check in the mirror to make sure the outline looked good before he started. I’m a happy camper. Thanks again!

I’m not reviewing the artists at Atomic Tattoo here, though I’ve heard great things. I’m talking about business process (yeah, boring, but keep reading). I went to buy a gift certificate from the MLK location — ’tis the season. I used a credit card. Within a couple of days my card company notified me someone had tried to use my credit card number for the same amount. Not acceptable, especially since my card company closed my account right before I went on a trip. If you go, pay cash.

Although I have yet to visit Shane at his new location, I’ve been going to him since he was at the Burnet Rd Atomic & followed him to his various other studios over the years before he returned to the new Atomic on MLK. He is an amazing artist & a great guy! He listens to what you want & will tell you if something can’t be done & explain to you why & offer suitable alternatives.
To date I have more ink from Shane than from anyone else out there & will soon be going back in for more. Check him out. You won’t be sorry!

I wandered into Atomic one day while out to lunch and began browsing immediately, scanning the walls of artwork to see «what they had to offer.» I was greeted by Philip and he asked what brought me in. I explained I was in the market for a new tattoo and he asked what I was looking for. (other then covering up a bad tattoo from another shop, I wasn’t really sure) He suggested custom work and asked me to put together some pictures. I did and went back about a week later. We sat and talked for a few and he measured my arm for placement and told me he’d draw something up for me. Well, a little time passed and he called me to come in and take a look. IT WAS FRIGGIN AMAZING! Better than I expected and I couldn’t wait to get started…
Anyway, I’ve been thru 2 sittings with Philip now and all I can say is this dude knows his business! I get stopped constantly about my new sleeve and it’s not even finished yet.
If you are looking for a new tattoo artist, GO TO PHILIP CORBIN! His work is BAD ASS and he’s a pretty cool bro. He was able to take my vague ideas of a tattoo and turn it into an amazing piece of art… I’ve definitely found my new tattoo artist in Austin.
