Frank and his crew are great! Very friendly and customer service oriented. Really take the time to explain your options and what’s the best buy for you. I brought back in some rec specs that got banged up playing basketball, and they took the time right away to fix them. I highly recommend Arbor Eye Center.

Needed an eye exam and the reviews were stellar. I thought it was alright. Nothing fabulous, but nothing terrible either. Office is in need of an update or at the very least a paint job inside.

Been here twice and both times, with two different doctors, and had thorough exams. Everyone here (techs, docs, billing, etc) is patient, friendly and really good at what they do. I’ll definitely recommend them.

Came just to change the nose pieces. And the did real quicck and a hurry lol… always love coming here

Long over due review, we’ve been going to Arbor Eye Center for 5+ years and I still love them and recommend them often!
This is a family business, Doctor and optician are married and their staff have worked for them for years, which tells me they’re kind to their staff too!
Doc as Dr. Crothers is called by her staff is wonderful, sweet and very knowledgeable. She has been treating my daughter and is wonderful to her, I won’t go anywhere else!
The office is clean, clean, clean, decorated with a modern look, very inviting. They even have a cute little kid play area.
They greet you by name when you walk in, offer you coffee, it’s like going to a friends house.
I highly recommend Doc and her team!

I became a patient of Dr. Crothers not long after they opened and would not even think of going anywhere else. EVERYONE in the practice have always been so kind, compassionate and very professional. They are like an extended family (the good kind). They have not only taken great care of my health, but the insurance as well. Recently I had an issue with my glasses that Callie went above and beyond to take care of.
If I could give them six stars, I would!

An outstanding and wonderful experience from the initial phone call to get an appointment to the final glasses fitting. The staff was alert, friendly and knowledgeable. They never missed a beat!

I had a great experience with Arbor Eye Center. Callie & Tiffany made me feel welcome when I arrived and took care of my paperwork. We laughed a lot actually.
Both the doctors, Ellen and Frank were kind and very thorough in my exam and fitting.
My glasses arrived during SxSW and Preston called me and offered to bring my glasses downtown the next day so I could get them fitted. What a great service. I met him at the Starling trailer and he got me fitted and I could tell he really wanted to make sure I was content with my new progressive glasses since this was my first time getting them.
Overall a great experience and I highly recommend them.

This was the best eye exam appointment I have had in years — nationwide — and I hate going to the eye doctor even only once a year. The office was clean, professional and my doctor and supporting staff were A++. I had a bad experience at another doctor’s office a few months ago so I needed another opinion which is what led me to AEC. I am so glad I found this place because I was made to feel at home. I got a great assessment on my vision, informative news on my insurance, and a completely satisfied feeling as a consumer. I am a tough nut to crack but today was awesome. Thanks AEC!

Modern, clean, and with a super friendly staff. What more can you ask for with an optomistrist office?

I’ve been going to Dr. Crothers for two years now, and she is wonderful! She is very understanding and helpful, and her staff is great, too. She was able to fit me for contacts, and I’ve been very happy with them. I highly recommend her!

This visit was everything I expected it to be and more. I was taken back at the time of my appointment and immediately began the routine tests. I was only waiting a short minute before Dr. Crothers greeted me in the exam room. The refraction was thorough and Dr. Crothers answered all of my questions. She was knowledgable, professional, and very friendly. I had some questions regarding other visual symptoms, so she decided to do a dilated exam. I got to shop around for glasses frames while my eyes were dilating which really helped move the appointment along. Callie was EXTREMELY helpful and friendly during this process. She provided an honest and helpful opinion on frames and types of lenses when asked. Overall, this was a great visit! Thank you Dr. Crothers and staff!

We were in the search for a new eye doctor (after being with a great one for 20 years), and were dreading it. We put out feelers for recommendations, and then consulted Unilocal.Booked the appointment at AEC based on Unilocal’s recommendations — and boy were they spot on.
Dr Crothers was extremely thorough and professional. Our family has eye issues, and she clued into them, finding yet another issue that had not been detected in my teenager. She took the time to explain to her what symptoms to look for, and to waste no time in seeking help if she experienced them. I can’t recall a time when a Dr spent more time with us. Frank, at the front was also amazing. He had our insurance all figured out in advance, and told took me through the detail of what was covered and what was not. He was candid, competent, and there was no pressured up-​sell.
This place is truly a find, 5 stars for Arbor Eye Center!

My appointment at Arbor Eye Center was on time, and the staff was friendly and efficient. But what really impressed me was Dr. Crothers’ thoroughness. Other optometrists can seem rushed and mechanical to the point where you wonder if they are just going through the procedure half awake, but Dr. Crothers was focused and seemed to check and double check every detail. I chose this clinic because it was convenient, but I urge others to choose it because it is among the best.

Arbor Eye Center — Caring, Professional, and Really, Ridiculously Good-​Looking!
I drove by AEC and, on a whim, walked in to make an appointment. It started well, with the woman at the front desk not having the bored, affected look of someone who takes their job for granted. She greeted me nicely, asked me the pertinent questions, and even APOLOGIZED that they couldn’t get me in the same day.
So when I stumbled in for my appointment a week later, half-​asleep and foggy-​eyed, I was happy to find there was not a pile of paperwork waiting for me. In the time between setting up the appointment and my visit, I suppose they verified insurance and the whole nine — unlike others who wait until you’ve arrived to do that kind of work.
The tech at the front desk was nice, conversational, but not overly-​intrusive. She performed the preliminary tests with adeptness and professionalism, instead of the auto-​pilot zombie mode a lot of techs employ. Dr. Crothers was friendly, professional, and friggin’ adorable — as was everyone working there. Not that this should be a reason to go there, necessarily.
What impressed me was the vast difference between my former optometrists and the people at AEC. Instead of immediately jumping into «This one? Or… this one? One? Or two?» Dr. Crothers immediately cued into an eye issue I wasn’t even aware of, but had seen symptoms of for a long time. She educated me on my eye problem, instead of forcing me to google it and getting lost in the jargon.
Even if you’re neurotic like me, and aren’t always a fan of intimate, small spaces, it’s worth a visit. The staff actually cares about what they do, care about making you comfortable, and they care about your overall eye health. The eyeglasses prices are on the mid to high range, but with insurance it’s not so bad. The frames «menu» is exceptional, and Frank (I believe) gave me great tips on what frames would compliment everything from my eyes to the size of my head!
The only reason this review is 4 stars instead of 5 is that I feel they could have done a better job of informing me about my eyeglasses order. They were unable to make them in their lab, so they had to order. I didn’t really get a good ball-​park as to how long, but I assumed a day or two at best. I waited almost a week without hearing anything from them, and when I called they could not locate one of my lenses. of course they were extremely nice about it and offered me a temporary pair while we waited, but I declined as it was not urgent. Still waiting, though!
Even with this minor inconvenience, I’d still say it was the best optometry experience I’ve ever had, and I have already suggested them to others.

Well i was searching Unilocal one morning after i slept in my contacts for too long and found this place. my fiancé called that morning for me and got me an appointment that same day. when i got there the staff was very helpful and nice and got me right in, matter of minutes. then the doc came in checked out my dumb mistake and gave me some eye drops and fixed me up in a few days. had the follow up appointment a week later to get my vision checked and fitted for new contacts. perfect prescription and now i can see again.
overall great staff, great doctor, great environment and very nice and clean.
i would rec. anyone to go there and now my entire shop will be going there for their future eye problems.

I just got back from my first visit to the Arbor Eye Center because I had lost my only pair of eyeglasses yesterday. I have to say I was extremely impressed.
Points of awesomeness:
1) I called this morning for an appointment and they were able to see me within a couple hours.
2) The staff at the front of the office were very friendly and personable.
3) Dr. Crothers was incredibly thorough, friendly and just generally awesome.
4). They have a lab on site. Thankfully, they had my prescription in stock and I was able to walk away with a new pair the same day.
This was the best experience I’ve had with an optometrist in Austin and I would highly recommend them!

I hadn’t found a good eye doctor in the Austin area. One evening, I was at my normal HEB, in a very slow-​moving line, and I commented on the fantastic eyeglasses being worn by the person in front of me in line. As she turned to accept my thanks, I saw Arbor Eye Center on her scrub-​type blouse. I then asked her about the logo, and she gave me a business card. The small bit of chitchat in line, and the awesome glasses she had intrigued me. I was due for an eye exam and they accept my insurance, so I set up an appointment.
First off, the office has an amazing collection of frames! Anything you could want, from funky-​chunky and neon hot pink, to leopard-​print metal frames, to near-​invisible rimless glasses.
Preliminary checks are as they always are, but the lady I’d met at HEB was my guide for the day (Kelly).
Dr Crothers was very timely, very professional, with good humor as well. I have a bit of a special pupil, and she took the time to ensure it behaved as she expected. She also switched me over to a different type of contact lens that better suit my usage.
Kelly helped me get contacts ordered, then a couple weeks later I was back to pick out some new everyday frames.
That was in December and January. I’ve since sent friends, and a random stranger I met on a plane. The atmosphere is great, the staff members are very professional and friendly, and as previously mentioned, they have no qualms about giving you a copy of your prescription if you wish.
I HIGHLY recommend this practice!

They were very courteous and professional. Knowledgeable staff. Big variety of frames. My only gripe is the prices on the frames are a little higher than I’d like to pay. If insurance isn’t covering a portion you’ll probably want to take a copy of the prescription elsewhere. However, these guys know their stuff.

No experience with the optometrist at this location, just with the opticians.
Went here to fill a prescription for some glasses. Staff was very friendly and helpful, and my glasses were ready in like 3 days (which was much faster than I expected!) Lots of very nice frames to choose from. I’ll probably be back for my next pair.
