I thought it was going to be excellent but it was not totally there. Got carry out like I usually do at restaurants. My lengua burrito and our pork tacos were great with lots of flavor but my wife’s 2 bean and cheese burritos were so runny that the tortillas were a gummy mess. Grossed out by that most definitely and paid $ 4 for each one. Not the best experience. Hope they see this and take action on the beans because if a Mexican restaurant cant make good beans of all things, we usually wont go back. The cashier was friendly so no qualms with the service.

Tacos were great and full of flavor. Lots of sauces to choose from but seemed kinda watered down. The red hot sauce was the best. Horchata was good. Ordered to go: 6 tacos, carne asada burrito and 2 horchatas for $ 20 and some change.

This is my favorite taco spot hands down, and such an exemplar taco place. Forget all those fancy Mexican restaurants, because honestly, they have nothing on Tacos Selene. This place has people lining up out the door during lunch and there is a good reason why. Consistency! I always get the same thing, barbacoa and lengua tacos. Both of them come out absolutely delicious and the salsa bar is amazing as well. The tacos are reasonably priced and the people there are always nice. The horchata there is probably my favorite as well. I have definitely grown to love this place and I hope you do too because it’s simply amazing.

Good was great! The cashier was very friendly and helpful. Their was some guys even playing music while we ate! It was exactly what we were looking for. This is almost like fast foods Mexican. You order at the counter, they deliver, you choose a drink out of a cooler.

This is a great taco spot tucked into a suburban hell on denver’s east side. Everything is excellent, but I’d probably recommend the Barbacoa above all else. The tortas are excellent as well. Also, the ever-underestimated sauce bar is strong here. Definitely try it!

Out on East 6th Avenue/Chambers. Order at counter in Spanish, it helps. Tacos are Mexican traditional 3″ diameter. I ordered a cheese/bean burrito as the refried beans are veg friendly, no lard! Spanish TV going, Copa America, friendly waitstaff, super authentic flavors at the salsa bar, and even have pickled habaneros.

Tried this place based on the reviews I saw here on Unilocal, and I was not disappointed! Despite the fact that you order at the counter, they had the employees coming around to the tables to clear off plates and to bring our order out to us. I asked for a side of sour cream, and the girl went in the back and brought it out to me. Pretty good customer service. But really the food was the star. I couldn’t believe the prices! Three of us ate and drank for $ 30. The quesadilla was excellent, the tacos were excellent and the sopes were out of this world! We will definitely be back!

I came for some grub based on the Unilocal reviews and was excited about finding a legit taco/burrito joint. The place doesn’t look great from the outside or the inside, but the grub is what I was there for. There was a short line when I ordered a Al Pastor burrito and Barbacoa taco. Ordered and received my food in a timely manner(about 4 – 5 minutes). The burrito was excellent size with lots of flavor and adequate heat. My taco was even better and I was pleased with my 20 minute drive to this establishment. I was so pleased that I returned to Taco Selene 2 days later before heading back to the east coast. If I’m ever in the Denver area again for work, I’ll be sure to grab a bite here again! Price was perfect as well!

The place was good enough, but we have definitely had better. All was good enough, but nothing we would go out of our way for again. As many have mentioned, salsa offerings were a nice touch. On a Thursday lunch time there were plenty of seats and there was no line. The place needed a bit more upkeep and this was a bit of a turn off.

So we came in here on Cinco de Mayo because the amor was flying out so we tried to find a place in transit to the airport to grab some tacos! Taco Selene met this criteria and had good reviews so we decided to come here. Upon pulling up it looked like it would deliver. Being from SoCal I’ve been to my fair share of ghetto crappy looking places that are BOMB!!! So I was pretty excited! We walked in and got in line, and the fact that it took us 15 min just to get through the line when there was really only three people in front of us, and there were 5 different groups standing around waiting for their orders should have let us know how this experience would go. Amor ordered tacos, and I got a bean and cheese burrito NORICE(I hate rice, it’s pretty useless in my opinion) there were no chips and salsa so that was it. We went to go wait for our food and hit up the taco bar in the process. It took 25 min got the food to come out which made us almost late to the airport, so we had to scarf and take half to go. I seriously think that they had like only one person in the kitchen, and 1 taking orders /delivering food??? Not sure if it always this busy or if they just didn’t anticipate cinco people coming out?!? Tacos: they were good, probably the best thing we had. Definitely good, but not great. He got carne, el pastor, and pollo. Pollo was poor quality but that doesn’t surprise me. Burrito: I’m a basic b when it comes to my burritos. Love me an old bean and cheese… hard to mess that up in my opinion! However this burrito was super bland and on top of that they threw some rice in there… which I could have tried to deal with had it not been undercooked but still mushy. Like they didn’t cook all the water out so it was mush, but the kernels also did not cook all the way through so they were hard. It was bad. No amount of salsa could fix this :-( All in all I probably won’t find myself in this good again looking for grub but even if I did I would not come back. Unfortunately it was nothing special. :-(

As I always do when I try new taco places, I order one of everything. The service was great. The meats were deliciously marinated, and the salsa bar was abundant! It’s good, cheap, and fills me up so I like this place!

I’m going to second another Brian who has posted. The food did not knock my socks off. Don’t get me wrong, it was a solid meal and it was a great value. But with great value comes understandable compromises. Univision blaring. Children practicing on their recorders. The main dishes looking a little forlorn without much pop or surprise. Beef burrito was meh. Sorry, it doesn’t compare to umm… Chipotle? Salsa bar was pretty good. I liked the pickled cabbage. Tacos were better than average. I’d come here for lengua tacos over Pinche Tacos. Horchata was serviceable, like most horchata from a bubbling dispenser. I’ll leave it at that.

So I had smelled the wonders of Tacos Selene long before I ever ate there. See, the restaurant falls along my daily running route at about 2 miles in. So everyday I would spend the second half of my run starving from smelling the wonderfulness coming from there. Jeff and I finally decided we had better go check it out! We went on a Wednesday for lunch. It was packed! Always a good sign right? We ordered 3 tacos a piece. I had chicken, steak and carnitas. They were maybe some of the best street tacos I have ever had! They were flavorful and simple. None of the fancy trappings of trying too hard. Just darn good tacos. I would definitely recommend ordering more than one or two. Because they are street taco style, they don’t come with sides. They have a few different salsas to choose from. I thought all of them were great. Jeff wasn’t able to find enough heat(I’m convinced his taste buds aren’t human). I’ll definitely be stopping by again to get my taco itch scratched!

The service is friendly, and fast. The food is ok, I’ve had better. I used to frequent a place in the DC area called«Taco Bamba». Since moving here, I ‘ve been trying to find my Taco Bamba replacement/alternative. I’m still on the hunt. The meat quality was lacking, mostly tasted like the lower quality burn end pieces of chicken, and so-so Asada steak. The sauces were all pretty bland. The tortillas themselves were good. I can’t complain, because the price point is great. 1.50 for a taco, 2.50 for double meat. Not bad overall, but not amazing.

What can I say about this place that hasn’t already been said. Taco flavoring is absolutely fantastic. The chicken is grilled to perfection, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The asada is also juicy and delicious. Try out with some of the spicy onions and the chunky green sauce. It’s taco heaven here!

I did not try the tacos. I had a burrito and a sope the burrito I did not finish I was not impressed and I think it was the tortilla that I did not love about it — it was a little too thick and had a weird texture but I had a barbacoa sope and that was really good they make the sope tortillas there and it’s very fresh it was seriosly great one of the best sopes I’ve ever had. I usually let my husband try my food but I did not share this one with him had it all to myself and loved it! 5 stars for sopes!

Personally, I thought the Tacos were terrible… not sure what others are eating, but mine were not tasty. Bland… you could dump the very meager extras on your food, but it won’t fix the issues. Try things other than the tacos.

Wow, I was not expecting the tacos here to be as good as they were! Definitely a hole in the wall type of place, the staff here are very friendly. I witnessed them trade a customers half eaten burrito for a whole new one because it was cold, this was a very positive gesture and they owned up to the mistake without needing proof and not causing issues, I liked that a lot! I ordered beef, pork, and chicken tacos, all were well cooked and good proportion of meat to tortilla ratio. It was interesting that they used cilantro instead of lettuce, that was a nice touch, very simple tacos yet so good, I tried their orange, green, and red sauce and they all had a good kick without being overkill. I also got a horchata, tasted like a normal horchata and it did not seem watered down or anything. Overall great experience, I won’t give the place any trouble for the building looking a bit run down but for what it was, it was clean and the staff were great. I will definitely come here again to try more foods.

I’m visiting from California so, while I believed other Unilocalers, I’m always skeptical. It was so good I’m going back tomorrow night. As other have said, Selene has delicious food that is not expensive. I tried the el pastor and carne asada tacos and a pork sope. All of them had great tasting meat with lots of fresh toppings to balance the meat. I don’t like pineapple, but it melds beautifully with the al pastor adding a sweetness without a strong pineapple taste. I also had the hibiscus drink which was huge(tip: try a few limes from the salsa bar in that drink, adds a nice flavor) I love the salsa bar. I don’t think I’ve had habanero pickled onions before, they were terrific. Fresh roasted and pickled jalapenos, tomatillo sauce, salsa verde, pico de gallo and a hot pepper sauce all were tasty in their own way. The selection let me vary the spice levels and tastes of each dish. Did I say I Ioved it? The only thing I loved more than the salsa bar was the service. This is a family place and that is how I felt treated. The hostess explained what each of the salsas and other condiments were, brought out the food promptly and checked in to see everything was okay. I’m only in the area for 2 nights and as I said, I’m going back tomorrow!
