Safeway Food & Drug

I’ll never shop Safeway (any location) again. They used to be our regular grocer, but every time we would bring home the groceries from there we would find expired food items. Everything from dairy products, like yogurt and cheese, to boxed food, like minute rice. The final straw for me is the YEAR OLD eggs that I just got from them a few days ago! Safeway had most their eggs marked for 50% off, which is usually an indicator that there is something wrong with them, so of course I checked the sell by date and thought that it said Jan 2015. So, I bought them anyway because I figured they were on sale because they would expire in just a week. My husband looked at them this evening and the date ACTUALLY says Jan 2014!!! Absolutely ridiculous! I have heard that eggs are still good for a couple weeks after their expiration/​sell by date, but how can they get away with selling eggs that are a year old?!

The staff is friendly and very helpful. The reason I gave it 1 star is because it smells bad and almost everything in their dairy department is past it’s sale date. It needs some major cleaning in the bathroom. Its hard to believe that the store is still open.

My first thought, «No one Is at Safeway.» My second thought «I see the reasons no one is at Safeway.» Holy crap, one lane open, one other employee in the store. Slow, dirty… they just gave up. Never again.

If you like to stand in lines to check out for ridiculous lengths of times come to this location! Anytime you go there is always a huge line. Always only a few check out spots open.

Horrible management. There is only one checkout line open during busy times. I’ve waited at the service desk for five minutes while the only checkout person, with five people in line, called for her supervisor over the PA. Another minute and no one showed. Now the poor checkout girl, now with 6 people in line, called for the supervisor again. That’s when I saw her, coming around the corner, on her cell phone laughing away. I walked out and I bet she didn’t even notice. I go to king soopers now and its cheaper and nicer anyway.

The prices are great compared to Target and King Soopers on the same corner. However, this store is nearly deserted at all hours and they typically only need 1 checker to keep up.
No self check here and all the specialty departments close early. Can’t get fresh cuts even at dinner time.
Staff is friendly which is the only thing that saved this store from 1 or 2 stars.

This Safeway is average or a little less than average. The store is dated. It looks, feels, smells like 1989. The meat department only has a seafood counter, the meat is packaged only. The selection of steaks was pretty subpar. The staff was friendly, but a little bit spacey. The lines weren’t long, thankfully.
I won’t go out of my way to stop in again. My visit was just by chance and convenience. Meh, it wasn’t a 2-​star, but its closer to a 2 than it is a 4.

Staff is friendly but store smells awful. Maybe it was a sewer back up or something but there is no way I’d be able to shop for any amount of time in there. Hopefully the problem gets rectified…

Awesome people, everything you need and more. Cozy starbucks to boot! Wells Fargo convenient for this frequenter =)
