Eyes of Chicago Optical

After less than 1 year, both of my mothers’ glasses started breaking down, which was surprising as I paid for especially high quality material. One of the glasses’ glass piece fell out entirely out of the frame, and we found out that the glass piece did not even have a rim to fit with the frame (the glass piece should have been carved with a rim to avoid this usually). The 2^nd pair of glasses had scratches even though we paid for special coating to avoid scratches. My mother was extremely careful with her glasses usage since they are especially important to her. Her last pair of glasses lasted almost 4 years without any visible scratch and definitely no falling out pieces. I have to wonder about the quality of the glasses after this experience unfortunately.

I gave this place a chance based on reviews being good. Sadly my experience was horrible. The doctor giving the exam was way too rushed for my taste. This was my sons first eye exam and he was a little nervous. The doctor was not relaxing at all and literally seemed like he had something else he wanted to do. When it came time for my exam I felt the same way. I tried to explain the problems I’d been having with my vision when I first got in the chair and he just looked at me kind of smugly and said «what would you like me to do for you?» Ummm make it so I can see better please? Didn’t even know how to respond to such a basic lack of interest on his part. Really zero personality is how I’d sum it up. When it came time for me to pick up my trial pair of contacts they gave me the wrong ones! So for two days I was doing my best wearing contacts that didn’t have my prescription and did not fit my eye properly. At my follow up visit he kept trying to pass it off as if I «had to get used to them» or «I had to break them in». This isn’t a pair of shoes for goodness sake. Luckily I brought the packages in and he realized they gave me someone else’s contacts. Never an «I’m sorry» or anything. Very unprofessional, at least apologize for your mistake. The new contacts that arrived 5 days later I still had major problems seeing up close and his recommendation at that point was for me to get reading glasses to wear over my contacts. I asked him why he couldn’t help my vison with a prescription and what am I supposed to do when I have my regular glasses on? Hold the reading glasses up to the lenses? He didn’t have an answer and said was what I needed. At that point I could tell he wanted to be done with me. I felt like he had a problem with anyone not agreeing with his recommendations. So after 2 sets of contacts (one of which wasn’t even mine) and two follow up visits I still can’t see clearly. And this wasn’t exactly cheap for my family since I don’t have vision insurance. I’ve already made new appointments for my son and myself at another business. I have no doubt I’ll have a better experience elsewhere. I strongly suggest you do the same. Getting orders mixed up, along with the attitudes of really not wanted to solve your vision issues why would you bother giving these people your money?

I’ve had great experiences at Eyes of Chicago Optical! I agree with the majority of reviews — customer service is top notch here. Everyone is so friendly and helpful.
For me, their location is super convenient because it’s so close to my house. I spend a lot of time in the strip mall they’re located in since Mariano’s and the UPS store are right next door.
I forget her name, but the optometrist I saw last summer was just lovely. My eye exam was very thorough but also didn’t take forever. They have a lot of great options for glasses, and I found that ordering contacts with Eyes of Chicago costs me way less than when I ordered through my old eye doctor.
Most recently I popped in just to place an order for more contacts. The girl behind the desk was very helpful. She took the time to look up costs and different options and in the end I was able to save $ 150! Cha-​ching.
Great option for all of your optical needs. I’ll be back in 6 months for my exam!

My wife found this place and loves the service and the experience she had. I took a chance and got an appointment. The exam was good, but the doctor seemed a bit rushed. I think i did get a better exam of my eyes overall thank other places.
They have a good selection and i chose a pair but some of it was my fault i felt sort of pushed into a pair cause most of the employees in there said they liked them and i didn’t try on more than i should of. When I received the glasses by the next day I knew I was not happy with them. They seemed lighter than my last pair but even more uncomfortable than my old pair after wearing them for a while. Now I am told i have to pay a restocking fee to return them for something else even though i was told I had 30 days if I wasn’t happy.
It’s not bad of a place I just seem like to me felt a little rushed and pushed into some glasses. For me I think next time when I find a place to get an exam I will just take a copy of my prescription and just take my time to get what feels right on my face and something i can feel comfortable wearing long time.

I’ve been searching for a good eye doctor for a very long time. Everywhere I have gone has been nothing but a disappointment. I thought I found a good place, only to have my glasses start to peel after six months. Since eye problems run in my family I was searching for a doctor to keep.
When I walked in, I thought, «Oh this place looks really expensive.» But that is further from the truth. They have stylish glasses for every budget which I love. The ladies in the office were exceptional!
The doctor was great. She actually took time to address all my problems and found a contact lens that felt comfortable with my astigmatism which was a first. I always thought since I had astigmatism that I would just have to suffer through it. Not in this case, my contacts are very comfortable and I can barely tell I am even wearing them.
Everyone in the office has gone above and beyond to help me find the perfect pair of glasses and contacts. I never felt rushed to make to decision. The whole staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely a 6 star business! I love this place!

Very nice, clean and professional office. The staff is very helpful and very professional on the phone when I scheduled the appt. I saw Dr. Martin and he was wonderful. If you’re looking for a thorough exam, great doctors and staff, this is the place! They also have a great selection of frames and the girls are great in finding the perfect pair for you. They are in network for BCBS and VSP. I would say for the exams/​frames with my VSP they are moderately priced. If you don’t have any kind of insurance, they may be more on the pricey side. Worth it though!

The Doctor and Staff and Eyes of Chicago Optical are the best! The Doctor is patient and thorough — he explains everything clearly and I never leave with unanswered questions. Everyone there is great with my teenage sons as well. The Doctor fit my oldest for contacts and both boys for glasses. Because the staff is so nice, and excited about what they do — both boys ended up picking out glasses that they really like AND WEAR!
The staff is also very knowledgable when it comes to eye insurance. I have no worries when I make an appointment or make a purchase — I know all the paperwork will be handled professionally for me.
I personally have purchased two pair of reading glasses from EOC — and every day I receive complements on how nice the glasses are and how good I look in them! I would not have the confidence that I have wearing them if it had not been for the excellent staff at EOC.

This place is GREAT! As you walk in the door you are welcomed by the most pleasant staff and chic atmosphere. I really didn’t know which glasses I was going to pick out and they helped me narrow it down and were so patient with me. I have purchased 3 pairs of glasses from here and I will not go anywhere else. I even saw one of the consultants that helped me pick out a pair of my glasses while eating out and of course I was wearing my glasses. She noticed there was a small scratch on my lenses, which I didn’t even realize. She suggested I bring them in and take care of it right away as the issue would be covered under warranty. I took them in and had them back in two days. NOW THAT IS SERVICE!

If I ever need eye glasses this is the best place to visit from the moment you walk in you get a warm welcome from the staff and the shop is so nicely decorated. The staff is so knowledgeable and helpful. I would recommend their service to everyone looking for a great experience.

Service was great. The doctor answered all my questions, was patient and very nice. The staff made sure to answer my questions and were very acomidating to my needs from what fit my face to what was in my budget. Most insurances are accepted and if not they are will to find something in ones price range.

I couldn’t be happier with the service I received at EOC. The doctor was very thorough with his exam and even shed some light on some other issues I was having due to my vision. The staff is patient, knowledgeable, and very helpful. There’s no «That’s not my customer» attitude. They helped me pick out an awesome pair of glasses by taking into account my face shape, personal style (casual or dressy), and lifestyle. They accept most insurances but still apply whatever discounts they can. I will definitely make this my permanent home for eyecare.

My first-​time experience here was better than expected. The doc did a super-​thorough eye exam (more than anywhere else I’ve been), and gave me a diagnosis that was right-​on. Plus, I had 3 ladies helping me pick out a cute pair of glasses. Their advice was helpful yet discerning, and I bought a great pair. The eyewear choices are varied and cute. I would go back in a heartbeat!

I bought a pair of prescription glasses from eyes of chicago and couldn’t be more pleased with the service I received. The eye doctor was very professional and took her time to make sure she had the correct prescription for me. She was also very good about answering all my questions and making sure I was comfortable. When i went to pick out my glasses all the frames are out on a shelf so i was able to pick them up and try them on. This was extremely nice because I tend to take a long time picking out the perfect pair. After picking out my frames they asked if I had insurance. Although my insurance wouldn’t cover the thinnest lenses they were nice enough to give me the discount anyway and get me the lenses I wanted. I couldn’t be happier with the service here and the way they did everything they could to help me out. Also they have a great selection of frames that you will not see at other stores. If your in the market for different and interesting glasses then be sure to stop in because eyes of chicago is the best place I have found so far to get glasses.
