Several years ago, I found Banana Split via Unilocal, and it stayed in my Bookmarks, moving slower and slower down the list, for two years. Finally, I decided, 2015 would be the year! It’s a hike from Plainfield — with lots of turns down streets I’m unfamiliar with. Alas, Banana Split IS all the rave I had built up in my head. It’s situated on the corner of a very strange intersection, so it’s certainly better for walk-ups rather than drive-ups, but we still found a spot to park while we ordered and ate. Because I feel the house specialty should always be your first order at a family-owned restaurant — I went for it… and ordered the full on Banana Split. And let me tell you — it was DElicious. The ice cream almost tasted like custard… smooth, rich and so flavorful. I didn’t realize that most ice creams were lacking flavor until I ate here. I also can’t forget to mention the prices! This is no Oberweis. Expect to leave here having only spent a few bucks on each order. I was shocked at how inexpensive this place was. It’s worth it, folks! Get over here in the summer and enjoy some amazing ice cream and treats.

I would give it a 3 stars but hasn’t earned it to me. that was the old banana split when i was growing up. Now a days the owners only work the day time but at night(those summer nights are the best time for ice cream) they leave the business to kids(college to highschool) and they don’t really care to me what it seems like. The presentation of the ice cream is bad and just the attitudes as if they don’t want to be there. Was a great business but that’s just my opinion. I rather go to dairy delite for better service and presentation and taste.

Banana Split! Such a classic, super yummy ice cream and cute place. Everyone says good things about this place, good quality ice cream and lots of options. Generous serving sizes too.

Great locally owned mom and pop ice cream stand. They are only open about half the year, so get it while you can! Their banana splits are delicious, just like the old-fashioned ones from when you were a kid, three scoops of ice cream, multiple toppings, whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry on top. My favorite, however, is their chocolate malts. I wouldn’t have a problem ordering one every day, if I weren’t worried about getting thick around the middle! They’re very well priced and the staff are very friendly, too!

Great ice cream! My wife and I have gone and loved it so much we took family from out of town there. They loved it too. The ice cream is so creamy and tasty. You truly just have to try it yourself. I highly recommend the dipped cones or the cookie sandwich with ice cream in the middle. The cookie is huge!

Not going to lie. This is my favorite ice cream place in aurora. They host countless fundraisers for local schools and organizations. Stop by Banana Split today to try an amazing treat! My favorite items are the groaners. So much yummy ice cream!!!

Felt just like a kid again. The ice cream didn’t melt like a dairy queen blizzard either; it lasted much longer. The service was great. After trusting the people there, I ended up with a great swirl of ice cream, waffle cone pieces, and gingerbread … sorry am I drooling again?

It looks like a hole in the wall buy don’t let their looks fool you! Best soft serve ever. My daughter had vanilla chocolate swirl and I had a banana split. Service was quick and not too expensive. I gobbled down the banana split in minutes. I was on vacation when I went and drove 20 mins to get here. It was so worth the drive! Highly recommend this place

I freaking love banana split! True, part of the reason I love this place so much is that I’ve been going since I was a child, but it’s actually a very small part. I don’t go to banana split just for the sense of nostalgia, I go there because it’s really good. Even when I had to drive a bit I would make the trek, and let me tell you why: the ice cream(I know that seems obvious). The closest thing to their ice cream is Dairy Queen; it’s just as smooth as Dairy Queen, but even heavier and creamier. They’ve got many different ice-cream creations – though I’d be lying if I said that I’ve tried them – but I go with just a few: a cone with vanilla ice cream and their ‘crunch’(an awesome mixture of sprinkles and something else that’s very tasty) the eponymous banana split, which always has good quality bananas, and plenty of flavorful toppings(I forget which ones they come with, as I always request just the strawberry). the strawberry sundae, which – again – comes with a generous amount of strawberries to go with their awesome soft-serve ice cream the banana malt, which provides an awesome and harmonious marriage between a deep, nutty, malt flavor, and a sweet(NOTSUGARY), fresh, pronounced banana flavor. In my opinion, Banana Split isn’t just a place you should stop by if you’re in the area – though you most definitely should if you are – it’s a place worth a trip when you’re in the mood for ice cream. It’s embedded in the neighborhood, but is easily located because 1) it’s on a corner across the street from Garfield Park(is it still called that?) and 2) if you’re on Sullivan road coming off of Farnsworth, you literally have to turn right or veer left to avoid plowing into it. Try it!

I have been coming here for years ever since i was a little girl. Lines might be long at some points of the day like any ice cream Jinny in the summer but trust me when i say its well worth the wait! The sizes are very generous to for the price too! Can’t wait for them to open back up!

Usually pretty good… Can get expensive. Wish they wouldn’t go light on the toppings in the flurries.

A real gem of a place. Independently owned and serving up some tasty frozen treats! This place was packed when went. They have several favors of soft serve — I opted for vanilla and strawberry twist. It was great. The strawberry was very fruity but not overly sweet. My wife opted for a homemade chip which sandwich and it was massive. It was reasonably priced and the perfect summer treat on a warm evening.

If you like ice cream you have to try Banana Split not just once, but several times. They have a wide variety on their menu which offers different items at different times of the year. If you enjoy strawberry’s blueberries, peaches or other fruit in your ice cream be sure to stop in during the heart of the summer. The owners make a trip to southwest Michigan to get the best fruits around. I’m a big fan of their strawberry soft serve ice cream which is difficult to find. Above the ice cream, which is better than any around, the owners(Randy and Lisa) are the nicest and kindest people you’ll meet. My highest regards!

Love! They have a great menu, but I’m one of those people who is guilty of always getting the same thing :) I pesonally love their Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Flurry with chocolate ice cream. A great local place, and definitely one I will continue to support!

Awesome menu options, friendly staff, and quick service! Prices are reasonable, too. Even when crowded, everyone is in a good mood, which is a rare and precious find. Go there, and have the turtle treat. YUMCITY.

I’ve been visiting this place since I first discovered it in the late 80s. This place has a «Slush Float» that pretty much smokes anything at at other ice cream joints. Get a Grape slush, with a line of soft vanilla ice cream right down the middle. With Banana Split’s slush floats you determine how much slush & ice cream to blend together in any given spoonful/strawful. It might be the most perfect dry mouth refreshment ever made. Of course, they DO have them mixed as slush/ice cream smoothies if you so like. And much better than Sonic’s version…

I’ve been going to Banana Spilt ever since I was a little girl. I absolutely love this place. It’s a local hot spot during the summer months and it tends to get crowded on very nice days. The ice cream here is amazing. Their vanilla soft serve is among the best I’ve ever tasted in my life. They have everything from your basic cone to slushies, flurries, sundaes, sandwiches and of course banana splits. They even have ice cream sandwiches for dogs. My favorite has to be the snickers flurrie, if they had twix that would be my favorite. Who wouldn’t love their favorite candy bar mixed in the most delicious soft serve ever. It’s like heaven in the mouth. Across the street there is a huge park with a playground, basket ball courts, a baseball field and a cook out area so it’s a great place for families. Overall, Banana Split is a great place to go for ice cream in the East Aurora community.
