This store is one I wish I could shop at more frequently, unfortunately, my budget doesn’t quite allow for that – especially since I don’t make dress/​dressier shoes a big priority. If I could say ONE thing to prospective shoe-​buyers who are considering this store: think of your purchase here as a long-​term purchase, what you’re paying for can/​will be of use to you for years. You could most definitely find a pair of shoes that is SIMILAR to one from here that is half, a third, or even a quarter of the price, but that doesn’t mean that it would be a better deal. These shoes are better-​made, more comfortable, more durable, and better-​looking (in my opinion) than their counterparts.
I first starting buying shoes here back in the days when all the cents I made were expendable – and then promptly forgot about this place once my cents had to pay for living – so I’ve been able to witness the changes in style over time; sometimes I don’t like their styles, but seasons come and then they be goin again, so their small selection is always worth checking out three or four times a year. I do need to have a few pairs of dress/​dressier shoes – and because of my job they will get worn down fast – so for a while I used to buy cheapie pairs of shoes several times a year and toss them once I’d worn them down. Sometime later I passed by a shoe store that caught my attention, and now I buy a pair or two at Aldo and have them resoled (something I never considered doing with a thirty dollar pair of shoes) every so often, and they’ll last for years – to the point where you just decide to get rid of them simply because you no longer want them.
I just bought a pair of shoes here the other day – my only purchase at this store this year – because I WANTED this pair, not because I needed it, and I think that in itself is a testament to the quality of their shoes. The people there have always been friendly and quick to offer assistance, and the last person who helped me was very accommodating and able to provide suggestions. I eventually ended up having to order the shoes for delivery because they didn’t have them in my size – but I’m kind of used to that situation anyway – so I just got them and they’re perfect. I’m inclined to rate this place five stars, but I’m going to have to go with four because 1) the selection isn’t very large, and 2) unlike other shoes of comparable make and price, sometimes I walk in and see wall to wall fugly, because sometimes their particular style can make their shoes a little uh… I don’t know, you fill in the blank. Otherwise, I love this place.
