I am, by no means, an expert on Ivorian cuisine. I have never been in or near Cote d’Ivoire, and know precious little about the nation, its cultures, or its food patterns. Yet, I went to Afrikmall after seeing an article about the ‘food court’ that had developed in the property. I chose to order food from Akwaba after looking over the variety of options available. It was a good choice. Without any claims regarding authenticity, I can say that the food that I received was absolutely delicious. In particular, I would recommend anything that comes with cassava leaves. They were the clear highlight of my evening. For many, myself included, walking up to the counter at Akwaba might seem intimidating. There are a lot of unknowns, but the young woman working behind the counter was exceedingly friendly, glad to talk about the food options available, and more than willing to make recommendations.

We went here to have Dinner. This establishment aka«stalls» is like those«stalls» found in indoor Food Court. This food vendor is located inside the Afrikmall in Aurora, CO. They offer African cuisine leading towards Ivory Coast. This recent visit was on Monday January 25th2016. Time was about 18:25hrs ish. From the SPECIALS or MENU of that evening, I ordered the Oxtail Dish($ 10.00). The lovely owner and staff, make those dishes. Her name is Linda Essoh. It happened that she has to put what they already cooked in a Microwave Oven to reheat the dish I ordered. It takes about 10 minutes or so for my order to be ready. The Oxtail dish, comes with Rice and some spicy sauce, that I forgot to ask the proper name of it. The Oxtail itself was quite tough, NOT tender, like how I cook it at home. *SIGH*. I like all the flavors but the highlight of my dish is the Rice. Man, I wish I could ask Linda the recipe for that Rice. It is so flavorful and so addictive! All in all, its a Doable Dinner dish, though I wish to try many more in the future aka the Jerk Chicken or the Fish dish when time and schedule permits. From Linda Essoh business card, it is stated that Akwaba Restaurant is opened DAILY, Monday — Sunday from 11am to 9pm. Do call her in case Akwaba Restaurant changes their operation hours.
