Peebles Barbecue

Wow. You gotta try this. It’s the kind of place that deserves to be on Diners, DriveIns, and Dives. The guy shoveling hot coals among the smokers gave us a quick tour. He said they go through 1,500 lbs of meat in the 3 days per week they are open. Really yummy.

Great homey atmosphere, it had the look and the smell of a top notch mom and pop BBQ joint. ¾ full on a Saturday at lunch was a good sign. I tried the ribs because if you get ribs right everything else is usually as good or better. The ribs were ok. Not very meaty or flavorful. Sauce is a must…
If I am in the area again, I would give them another shot, but I’m not recommending to anyone.

Driving back to miami from orlando with my boyfried we decided to stop somewhere close because we were starving, we looked for something in Unilocal and the pictures from this place looked amazing. We decided to drive there and it was GREAT! We had to wait a little bit to sit, but the food was amazing. This is a traditional american bbq (we are from Ecuador S. America) and this was amazing, the experience was like being in a different state, it was like traveling back in time… LOVE IT!

Food was outstanding. Great price. Real smoke favor. It’s like eating outside with family and friends. We will return again and again!

The ladies werent too friendly. Ribs were fatty. We loved the slaw and beans. Many more places out there that r better.

So delicious! I usually go once a week because it is so good. You get a huge plate of food for the price (and i get the small plate.) You will love the slow smoked BBQ this gem has to offer. The BBQ sauce is a vinegar base which is probably my favorite of all the Southern BBQ’s. And the sides are a perfect compliment. Don’t pass by without getting your grub on, they are fast… I go on my lunch hour and I’m never late back to work.

We passed earlier and noticed smoke coming from the restaurant. As soon as we see that, we knew we had to try it and we are so glad we did! It they open at 11 and it was packed at 11:30. We ordered to go which we didn’t mind. The woman taking our order was really sweet! We ordered a loaded potato with sliced beef. Came with all the toppings! My boyfriend ordered 2 lb sliced beef with side order of bbq beans! Although he did not finish it all, he was glad to have enough to make bbq sandwiches at home for later: P you have to try it if your in town. You won’t regret it!

I have been going to Peebles for many years. I have always gotten the pulled pork, but this time, I got the ribs. I’m glad I did. They were big and meaty and cooked just right. Of course the beans and potato salad were great and the slaw is to die for. I always go to Peebles if I am in town on the weekend.

I’ve met the best the south has to offer! Well, let’s just say, it’s the best pork and coleslaw my mouth has ever come into contact with! Let me tell you about this new romance!
Being new to The South and new to good olé’ Auburndale, everyone at church group said that Peebles isn’t optional. When the church says something, you gotta stand up and take note.
But the thing is, Peebles didn’t look like the kind of place I’d normally find myself running to. Sorta shabby and easy to miss. Was I missing out on a grand evening just because of looks?
I decided to give Peebles a try, but I played it on the safe side. For, I couldn’t get caught in such a place! So, I called and set up everything on my terms. It seems Peebles has a hearing problem from all the things it has going on inside. So, if you’re calling in your request, be sure to speak up!
Picking up was something was a breeze with special area they had set aside just for people like me. I felt like I was getting away with something criminal when I walked away with my huge bag for such a steal!
Sitting at home in the recliner with Peebles was when my nose came into contact with the most wonderful scent…
It just makes your stomach dance with butterflies! When it touches your lips, there’s chemistry!
I’m forever in love with Peebles and the Pork sandwich with Cole slaw and potatoes salad. I would leave the sauce to the side because that juicy soft delicious meat doesn’t need anything added… and to be frank dear, I don’t like it!
Yes, there will be a second call!

I have been going to Peebles since 1974. I worked in Lakeland so it was a no-​brainier about where to eat. I moved to St. Petersburg and still have to drive to Auburndale for my Peebles b-​b-​q fix several times a year. It is without a doubt the best in the east and maybe west too.
I have probably sent several hundred customers there over the years and NOT ONE

This little place is great. You have to be careful or you will drive right by it. Coleslaw is truly amazing and the best I have ever had!

By far the BEST BBQ pork I’ve ever had! Love this local place as it so Southern and authentic. Food is amazing, staff are always friendly and a nice relaxed atmosphere.

Have been here in the past and the BBQ seems not as good as it used to be. Love the coleslaw.

Stopped here while in the area for a soccer tournament. Chose it based on Unilocal reviews but you let me down, Unilocalers! Nice and friendly people although when I asked the server if something on the menu was good she responded, «yeah, it’s alright.» Not the most convincing sell. No air conditioning, which if it was awesome bbq I’d be happy to live without. I had the ribs which were a tough as shoe leather. So dry and tough. Truly awful. I killed my teeth trying to take a bite. Ended up covering them with my napkin and not eating (I’m not the type to send something back). My daughter had the pork sandwich which was good but not great. So disappointed!

I had the regular pork sandwich and found it to have the right flavor and consistency that BBQ should have. The sides were good but not great. I would come here again as it’s a quality BBQ place.

They had the best coleslaw I’ve ever tasted; I’m not usually a fan of coleslaw, but I rather enjoyed what they had prepared. The side dishes were really good and flavorful. That made the visit worthwhile for me.

Last few times the ribs have been tough, but the cold slaw and beans are still great. Love the sauce.

A-​MA-​ZING!!! If you’re in the area and hungry, this is the place to stop.
Hubs and I ordered takeout on a road trip, so we called in our order of pulled pork and beef sandwiches. For only a little over $ 12, we got the most tender, juicy BBQ ever sandwiched b/​tw a bun. They serve it w/​containers of their sauce that has a sweet and tangy taste to it. The sandwich is good enough w/​o it, but we tried it w/​the sauce and devoured those sandwiches!
What I saw of the interior looked like a nice mom and pop feel w/​friendly staff and a perfect place for families. The smokers are inside so on a chilly FL night, you could sit near them to warm up a bit.
We will definitely return here when we’re back in the area!

First of all, when the board shows «sliced beef» I am expecting sliced not chopped. The pork is better than the beef. I would go back for a pork sandwich but I don’t feel this is the best BBQ I have ever had
