This is a decent Chinese restaurant, good quality food, the environment is nice very presentable, low lit and good for dates or taking the family out. If you want to get the best experience from this place I strongly suggest you request a waiter by the name of Perla. She will definitely take care of you and you will enjoy your experience. I’ve been here multiple times and have had every waiter and most are rude and lack customer service skills. Perla on the other hand knows how to treat the customers.

This was by far the worse Chinese buffet my husband and I have ever been to. The selection was minimal. Much of the meats were tough. The ice cream was to hard to scoop. I honestly don’t know how they stay in business. Maybe the regular menu is better, but I tell you, we will never go back.

Underwhelming food, vegan/vegatarian items were lacking and not that good. We only got takeout, so cannot review the inside with service and everything, but as far as takeout goes, it was not very good. I understand that Chinese food isn’t typically a 10⁄10 meal — but Yong Shing is on the low end of that scale, being very underwhelming and also not that great(but not BAD). The parking is also ridiculous with tiny parking lot and valet? The valet seems beyond ridiculous to me, but I guess if it gets busy on the weekends its necessary. Of the two sub-par Chinese restaurants in Auburn – go to Jasmine.

This place was great. Pearla was fabulous. Attentive. Nice. One of the best waitresses I’ve had.

I’ve been going to Yong Shing’s for over 20 years and will not eat Chinese food anywhere else! The food is always good and the staff very friendly.

I can only review the service in the bar, because when I asked the bartender if they had sushi, she said no and walked away to talk to the regulars. Never offered a menu, or asked if I’d like something else. I won’t be going back.

When it comes to Chinese restaurants, this place is definitely a little more upscale than most of them. Has a huge bar, and great drinks. It is a little pricier, when compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area. They have a buffet on Thursdays and Sunday nights, as well as a lunch buffet on Saturdays, I think. The food is always great. Service is usually quick. The only downside is, parking is terrible. Their parking lot is tiny, they have valet from time to time, however, it is very slow.

This place has the best wonton soup anywhere around. My only major complaint is the parking. I’ve been several times but couldn’t park so I left and went to Jasmine instead. I hate valet parking of any kind. My other complaint about Yong Shing is the dining area is very loud and noisy.

The BEST kung pao chicken I’vd ever had. If I was ever to chose a «last meal» it’d be their kung pao chicken and white rice! Yum!!!

Went at 330 on a Saturday with the ol lady. Service was great, food was even better and prices were more than reasonable. Best crab ragoons ever!

Best mai tais in town. Bartenders are amazingly friendly despite being very busy. Food is less than okay but if you’re looking for traditional American greasy chinese food, this place is for you. The bar is the place to go unless they are doing karaōke — then, it’s just drunks. Sushi is okay — they make an effort — but no sushi on Mondays.

We go there when we get out to auburn. The place has great drinks and a good place to be loud and enjoy your time. Food is ok and they have karaōke which is always fun.

The take-out was good, we ordered a variety of items that were served quickly and arrived warm and freshly-cooked when we got back to the house. The majority of the meal was fine, but the crab rangoon were amazing. Given they are one of only a few chinese restaurants in the area, I think they are a good first choice!

Let me start by admitting I had the lunch buffet. Why??? I should know better; my love affair with«Americanized» Chinese food is a long and glorious one. The best stuff is never in the buffet. But I was weak, seduced by the price and the promise of instant gratification. So, the food was just OK(no surprise if you’ve been following along). The atmosphere… hmm. The staff seemed nice enough but there were several rude(and LOUD) patrons enjoying the restaurant during my brief stay. The woman behind me dropped the F-bomb so many times I thought I was listening to Lewis Black. Based on other reviews, this wasn’t a freak occurrence due to solar flares. Perhaps my next trip to Yong Shing will be for take-out…

Chinese food in Auburn can be done one of two ways … 1.) Take out and eat it in front of the tv 2.) Sit in a restaurant and listen to drunken 20 year olds drinking scorpion bowls and screaming profanity. There is NO other way, trust me. Annoying drunk 20 – 30 something year olds acting like college students are drawn to Auburn chinese restaurants like moths to a porch light. Your choices are Yong Shing or Jasmine’s. In my opinion … the places are almost identical inside but the difference is the food at Yong Shings is better. The staff is ruder and parking can be impossible at Yong Shing … but the food tastes fresher and seems more pleniful. My go to dish at Yong Shings are the chicken fingers. Always crispy but not crunchy … as tender as you can get for once frozen batter caked chicken … and much plumper than most places. This does however come at a price … an appetizer order of chicken fingers costs more than just about any other Chinese restaurant I’ve been to. But you get a bunch! Fried rice is excellent and tastes fresh. A little on the bland side sometimes but that is why they give you soy sauce packets. All the other dishes taste fresher than at Jasmine and almost make you forget the meal you are eating was probably made in industrial sized batches and then frozen into a huge cardboard box. Most people will admit that if you are going with the ‘staples’ of Chinese food(the buffet in a box stuff) … Yong Shing wins hands down. Those ‘buffet people’ always seem to bitch and complain that their food is cold, tasteless and seemed old. Hello people … its a BUFFET. If you want fresh, don’t expect to get it on a buffet … you think the heat lamps are there for the ravers on E to stare at? I hate seeing people complain that their 7 plates of food for $ 12 wasn’t fresh enough for them. If you want fresh … you might have to pony up a few dollars more and order off a menu. The worst part about Yong Shing(besides drunken fools sucking on scorpion bowls and screaming profanity at the top of their lungs at the Habachi tables) is the parking. It’s seriously like trying to park in Beverly Hills. There is ONE spot for food pick up. And the parking lot is always full on a weekend because it is the size of a postage stamp. I just cannot allow myself to valet park in Auburn. When you walk in, you see big signs that say, ‘Those parking at McDonalds will be towed.’ That says it all.

If you haven’t had this cuisine before, and this is your first place to try it, rethink your decision. Unless you like liquor. Their drinks are good but I’ve always had consistently poor service and consistently poor food at Yong Shing. Do yourself a favor and go across the street to McD’s to tide you over until you can find a better place to eat. For instance, sweet and sour chicken with large thumb-sized portions and a pencil-lead sized piece of chicken in the center. Sometimes its undercooked or stale tasting. Teriyaki that isn’t marinated but instead drizzled with a bit of sauce on frequently undercooked chicken. Bland fried rice. Not recommended. Sorry.

Buffet is «ok». Used to be a lot better, you sometimes get the feeling like the food has been reheated if you come a day after a slow night. But ordering off the menu is always fantastic. Hot and fresh tasting. My favorite is the sesame chicken.

Ok chinese. Medium quality and quantity of everything. Nothing to complain about, but if you’re in Auburn I’d go to jasmine’s instead. The most exciting thing is probably the karaōke weekend nights, although I haven’t been in years.

I take the kids here because they seem to like it. I am a little more fussy. I don’t know how they can really call it a buffet? I have been to a zillion buffets up down the east coast. One table and only a few entrees, a few appetizers. Not much to choose from at all. I have a hard time finding any decent places to eat around town. The chineese buffet on the other side of town is way, way better with hundreds of items to choose from. It really wouldn’t hurt for the wait staff to actually be friendly or even nice for that matter. They act like they are doing you a favor by letting you eat here.
