Nachos are a must especially late night. Sandwiches are just okay. But great place to hang out with friends share a pitcher.

Many years ago, I attended my first Auburn football game when they were preseason #1 and hosting USC in a huge matchup to open the season. Turns out I parked right in the big lot just across the street from this legendary Momma Goldberg’s, but I had no idea it was even there. I’m older now, so I’m wiser too. This time, I specifically made a late evening drive from my hotel about ten minutes away to visit here and grab one of their fantastic sandwiches. As someone who eats sandwiches about 5 – 6 times a week, I know the difference between a great one and a good one. Perfectly prepared, fresh ingredients and served hot on really good bread. Momma’s potato salad was good as well. Almost went back the next day for lunch after playing golf at RTJ Grand National, it was just that delicious. The gentleman who made my sandwich took an interest that I was in town specifically to play golf and also told me about the store and how the building was about 100 years old. It is a prototype college campus spot and probably complete insanity on a Saturday of an Auburn home game. Especially because they seem to have more beers on tap than they do parking spots. Thanks also to my pals Heath Cline and«The Bear» Chris Fallica for their recommendation to come here. Few know the SEC better than those two guys when it comes to both food and football.

Love mama Gs. I have been eating here since I was 12. But the game day menu is sooooooo disappointing. So boring. Pepperoni, salami why not ??? Was in line and three out of five people in front of me wanted something else. PLEASE add something spicy beside the buff burrito. Maybe 4 hours after the game you could open it up to a normal menu.

Auburn Tradition. This is a sandwich shop in a college town. Not the greatest food around but a must stop destination. There is nothing wrong with the food at all but you go here for the atmosphere. Walls are covered with AU students signatures, Auburn memorabilia, and it has a great view of the stadium. AND… they server beer. If you are in town you really cant leave without a stop.

I would never advise someone to spend money at this restaurant. One of their most popular menu choices, «the nachos», are literally nothing more than a handful of Doritos with melted cheese on them– resembling something a 13 year old would make after school in the microwave. Also, there was a dark curly hair in my «nachos». The food took over 45 minutes to come out and was not made correctly. If you want this food, I would advise staying in your dorm room and using leftovers and a microwave.

They have the best sandwiches in town, the best nachos and the best ice cream — any questions?

Every year my family and I go to Atlanta for a couple of days but, we always make sure to stop by Momma Goldberg’s in Auburn. Everything here is top notch, from the crunchy ice and sweet tea, to the nachos and yummy sandwiches. This place is fun and laid back, with so much to love. I would definitely stop by for some AWESOME food and service.

Original momma G’s. We crave these nachos every week. So amazing! Love the mommas love and turkey delight. Fun atmosphere near campus, especially during game day

Good sandwiches, but we had sandwiches the night before at Schlotzsky’s as good with more meat on them. Expected much more from all that I’d heard of the place, maybe the experience would be different when school is in session.

Bar none worst service in auburn. Worth a trip there because it is an Auburn staple, but employees clearly don’t care about their job. 75% of the cheese on your nachos will be on the tin foil, and if you order a beer they will up charge you for a a pitcher without asking. McDonalds employees are more enthusiastic. With most people I know the big joke is why do we still go to mama g’s because the service is so terrible it feels like a theme. I hope that first time visitors don’t come here an this their opinion of the town because it’s an absolute embarrassment.

I would give this place a 3.5 just because it is an Auburn tradition. Everyone comes for the nachos and a steamed sandwich. I love the nachos, which as previous reviews state is a bag of Doritos, pepper jack cheese, and jalapeños if you choose. Simple, but I find them very tasty. Try them with cool ranch Doritos! The sandwiches are pretty good if you can get past the sogginess of them. I prefer the make my own sandwich option on a toasted bagel to minimize this. This is not a place to come if you want craft beer. Unless it’s on special it is way overpriced. Their domestic pitchers are pretty average though! Overall, great location and a must see if you come to Auburn. Just don’t go in expecting a gourmet sandwich.

We stop in Auburn every time we go to Atlanta and Momma’ Goldberg’s is a must. They have some of the BEST ice on the planet. Sweet Tea is a staple in this part of the country and they do an awesome job! I recommend their Nacho’s with Peppers. It is simple and amazing. Every Sandwich we have tasted has been on point. This is a great college joint with good history.

As an Auburn student hailing from New England, I have never understood the hype about this place. They make shitty/decent/drunk college student food… depends what you order. The Momma’s Love and The Veggie Burger are good. Little else is. Their famous«Momma’s Nachos» are exceedingly popular and exceedingly bad. Like, the Doritos they use are stale about 75% of the time. The one bright spot on the menu is the potato salad! I will go here just for that. Seriously, you have to try it. The bottom line is this place is a highly forgettable eatery that offers nothing special and survives off the«Auburn tradition» mantra. It’s popularity is utterly confounding to me and provides an excellent case in point as to how seemingly irrational consumers are… I recently heard that they’re thinking of branching out into the Atlanta market because of the plethora of Auburn alumni there, and all I can think is… LOLOL. I can’t wait to try to see them compete against all that Atlanta has to offer. The reason it has 3.5 stars on here is because everyone reviewing is from Auburn! Momma G’s wouldn’t last a month in a bigger, more competitive market.

Anyone that is from Auburn knows about Momma Goldbergs. Even visitors to Auburn soon find out the tradition that Momma’s original location just off campus on Magnolia Ave holds. I am the latter and visited the city for a week and was told Momma’s was a must try as an AU haunt. These type of college places are always a must try for me as I immerse myself in school culture, even if for a few days. I rolled into Momma’s early on a weekday mid afternoon. It was close to totally dead with a few inside and a few outside on the patio. I really liked the proximity of the restaurant to campus as you can literally see the AU football stadium. I liked the cottage feel of the cedar shake shingles and was ready to give them a try. I entered and found wood floors, a fireplace with flat screen TV over it. Wood tables and chairs with wood pews filled the dining room. The order area is to left as you enter, everything is walk up with menu on a board above. A small bar and tap beer selection is to the left of the counter. I had no idea what to do when entering and how the process worked and had to ask someone behind the counter. I also asked about beer prices and was flat out told pitcher tap was the way to go. At $ 5.99 for a pitcher of Blue Moon I could not resist, but wait a minute I’m by myself… oh what the heck I will plan on hanging out here long enough to hand it off to a new friend. I ordered the Momma’s Love sandwich at the recommendation of the staffers for a first timer. It sounded good to me with three kinds of meat. I found a seat and they called me to the counter for the pitcher which to me was just plain poor customer service with almost no one in the place… seriously they could not bring it to me. This was foretelling of how lax the staff was in my opinion. I understand this is there normal protocol, I get it… so no one should give me a hard time over my opinion. The sandwich order was up and again back up to the counter to retrieve it when no one was in the joint but a few others. The sandwich was hot and tasted great, I really liked it. I knew what to expect from my Blue Moon and it also tasted really good and refreshing on a hot Alabama day. I told the young guys beside me that they could have half of the pitcher, but they were already working on one and declined. With the place so empty I was pretty darn shocked that not only could the staff not lift a finger to bring out a pitcher of beer, but they could not tidy up the dining room which had a half dozen tables that needed cleared and floors swept. Now we are talking not just cleaning the tables, they have trash on them piled up. I was in for the long haul with this pitcher and was there probably 45 minutes before a staffer came out and cleared one table and then left for no reason that I’m aware of, again no customers have come in. This would continue for the next hour and a half back and forth one table at a time. Sweep a little, clear a little and leave. The whole dining room could have been done in 10 – 15 min tops if she just stuck with it. So my first visit to Mamma Goldbergs ended 2 hours after it started with beer still in the pitcher. I gave it a good effort but could not conquer it. I felt like a total failure, ha! I really cannot recall the last time I had a pitcher of beer. I went back for another visit in the week around the same time and pretty much the same scenario played out. I am around a 2.5 and will round up. Not a place that I would frequent if living in Auburn, but gave it a few tries in an attempt to feel the tradition that this place holds. I was not impressed and assume the attraction is cheap pitchers of beer and pretty solid food. But if you ask me the service pretty much stinks!

I don’t even know if I can write anything more than saying I’m in love with their Big Momma sub. Every time I come, I order that with a side of a pickle and chips. Sometimes their service is spot on, unfortunately other times their service is just terrible and slow(nothing sucks more than when you order your meal then your friend’s order is ready after you should be done eating yours). In the end though, I’ve been converted to a Momma G’s fan and have also converted my boyfriend. Hah.

I’ve your an Auburn student you love this place. If you aren’t, you wonder why anyone else loves this place. There’s nothing special about Momma Goldberg’s. Nothing. The first time I came to an Auburn football game many years ago a few of the students told us we had to have the nachos. They were amazing we were told. Quickly we learned they are amazing, if you’re a drunk college student. Otherwise, they taste like Doritos with cheap melted cheese on them. The sandwiches and everything else, however, are average. Much better than Subway, but falls short of a good deli. Still, come here on gameday and you’d think they were giving away $ 25 bills. I think people come back to rekindle their college memories and if I went to Auburn I would, too. What an amazing place!

Absolutely an Auburn tradition but it has gone slightly downhill since they started franchising. Great atmosphere to hang out at after games, although don’t expect to find a parking spot. Good pitcher specials during the weekdays and as always Mama’s Love is where it’s at!

Old. Dirty. Tradition. Get a Mama’s Love, a beer, and some nachos with jalapenos and you won’t complain. It can get very busy on game day but have a few more beers and you’ll complain less. I will say, there is something about this original location that is just different than the newer locations. It’s always worth a visit when you come to Auburn.

Look, there are probably only four reasons you would think this place is good. 1. You enjoy the $ 2.50 pitchers of crappy beer because you are on a college budget 2. You were drunk or high before you arrived so just about any shit you eat you consider to be the best thing you have ever had in your existence. 3. You think Doritos are the pinnacle of cuisine and have never really been given their higher place in the culinary world that they deserve! 4. One of the three things occurred above when you were at the University of Auburn and therefore have some sort of collegiate bond /memory(or lack thereof) of your wonderful drunken episodes with your friends. — — - We were hungry on our way back from Houston to Atlanta and needed some dinner for the kids. With only two hours left to go on a 9 hour journey and having spent a good deal on lunch in Gulf Port at the Half Shell Oyster house, fast food it was. I just wanted to get home. —— Bad decision #1 It was going to be a wendy’s run, but I missed the turn directly into the parking lot — — - Bad decision #2 Took a left at the next light about 250 ft down the road. —— Bad decision #3 Wife points out this place. I say it looks closed, as what deli in their right fucking mind would be open past lunch? —— Bad decision #4 Wife kept looking at it, said it was open and points out it has a drive through —– Bad Decision #5 We go through the drive through —– Bad decision #6 We ordered a Pastrama Mamma, a Big Mamma, and an order of Nachos(to kill the wifes craving for shitty food) —- Bad decision #7 We ate it. Second rate meat that even Arby’s would have a hard time serving and Nachos, which consisted of a scant layer of DORITOS(maybe a snack bags worth) with sliced cheese and jarred jalapeños layered and melted over the top. Hungry and tired and it still tasted like shit. Apparently requires alcohol to be edible. Unless you are inebriated move on. Someone needs to conduct a study on why Auburn University students taste buds are dead. Enough said.
