Taco Tuesday not to busy! Good service and prices. Food and drinks were good as well. 2.50 margaritas or Corona’s!

This is probably my favorite steak house around. I come here every anniversary with my girlfriend. It is our ritual. She used to always get one steak but sadly they do not have it there any more. The last timeout went I tried the ribs and they were amazing! I would recommend this place to anyone.

This is nice dining for Auburn… but it’s Auburn. 6 of us went there for dinner to celebrate a birthday over the past weekend. The service was ok, but it took forever to get our food and yet it was cold when it came to the table. One of our party actually sent his prime rib back to have it microwaved so it’d be warmed up a bit. There was a huge swath of fat thru the middle of my steak — basically I had to cut a third of it out. I think everything else was ok. The one vegetarian in our group actually liked their food. I’m in no hurry to go back. I’d much rather go down to Roseville for Cattlemen’s or Tahoe Joe’s.

Great service. Went for taco Tuesday on 5÷31÷16. Good drinks, tacos and chips BUT the salsa was AWFUL. The server even said that the chef literally watered it down to stretch it out. Strange but true. Has been better in the past. Would go again but if the salsa sucks a second time then won’t ever go back for taco Tuesday.

Have not been here for a year. Thought we’d try it again. Both the food and service were terrific. We started with complimentary bread and the sizzling mushrooms appetizer, which was a large portion. We also had the corn chowder, which had a unique sweet flavor. For entrees we had beef tips and the halibut fish special. Both were perfectly cooked and flavorful with tasty sides. Our server, Hannah, was both friendly & knowledgeable and service was prompt. We also really enjoyed the classy but casual vibe & appreciated the price range on the menu, starting at $ 10 – 13 for burgers & fettuccine alfredo, about $ 15 for beef tips or fish & chips, about $ 16 for chicken or ribs, then into the $ 20’s plus for specials & steaks. The only issue we had is that the menu said«add soup or salad for $ 2.95,» but we were charged $ 4.95 for a cup of soup instead.

Was a little apprehensive due to the mixed reviews, but most were on the service so we decided to eat at the bar. We had great service and the food was exceptional. We had a burger and brandy beef tips, mouth watering! The dingus mule was the best I have had. Will go again soon!

Love this place, friendly wait staff, great food, full bar, and great atmosphere. I believe it’s all around the best steak house in Auburn and everyone should give it a try.

The ambiance is always fun. Their outside patio is a great place to spend a summer evening. Service has always been pretty good. The food is alright. I thought that their lunch was better, however they have stopped doing much, which is a bit disappointing. Nothing to call home about with the food…

I wouldn’t say I had high expectations of the restaurant, but they were higher than delivered. The clam chowder was bland and uneventful. The only saving grace of the calamari was the sauce that came with it. The salmon was tasteless. On the plus side, the waitstaff was very nice and catering to our needs.

Used to Love going to Dingus McGee’s when it was in Colfax(back in the 80’s). It was Soo Good. Tried it at location in Auburn 2 years ago and it was pretty good. Came back this past Friday around 4:15. So sad to say that we will cross this off our list of favorites. We both had Ribeye steaks and salad. The salads were the best part. My husband ate his rib eye and said it was ok. I couldn’t eat more than about 6 bites of the Ribeye. It was Bland like it wasn’t seasoned and the taste was like it was soaked in Butter. And, I love Ribeye steak. It is my favorite. I knew we should have gone to where we Always get Excellent Ribeye’s. Cattlemens The Best Steak In The West. The atmosphere at Dingus McGee’s is great but $ 80.00 not worth it. Salad and Dressing Fantastic as well as the bread. Italian Lemon Cake was ok. The best lemon cake is at Claim Jumpers.

As much as I wanted to give this place 5 stars, I just couldn’t! Not only was our service horrible my husband took 2 bites of his ribs, and said, «these are awful!» I ordered the new York steak and for some reason they served me a rib eye? Very fatty. ugh Salads were mediocre. nothing that special, $ 75 later.

Excellent Steakhouse Atmosphere, Bar, Party, & Event Center! Lots of food variety, in the theme of Louisiana Style California Fusion mostly Steakhouse…

Spacious and elegant with high ceiling a faint antebellum feel outside, this modern burger and chili joint is just second off the busy freeway 80 from Tahoe to Sacramento but set back on a hill overlooking a scrappy, fun looking golf course. Pleasant service and well presented, filling and tasty food make this a likely future stop for us on the Tahoe run. The kids eschewed the mains and went straight for delicious and large fruit waffle hot dessert, which was stylishly presented, like all of our dishes.

Went as part of a larger group. Very reasonable, family oriented place. Generous portions. I had pork ribs and a baked potato for about $ 15 and was pleased. Pleasant, open spacing. Service was warm and polite but a little slow. Good place to enjoy standard fare with kids. Note they also have a decent — sized bar area.

The calamari, baked potatoes and ribeye steak were soooo delicious. The view from our table was beautiful and the service was prompt and polite. We will eat there again soon.

It really saddens me that I have to keep downgrading this restaurant. We don’t have a lot of great restaurants in Auburn and I really want to like this one. Especially because it is a local business. Something’s never change, though. Ambiance — very good. We sat on the deck on a warm summer night and watched the sun set. .. lovely. Service — haphazard and amateurish. One of our group finally had to get up and go into the bar to get his own drink, since the one he ordered never showed up.(It was not busy, at all, between 6:30 and 9:00 on a Friday night, which is telling, Dingus McGees used to be mobbed.) Food — mediocre. Strange oversized portions. Gristly meat. Just meh overall. I guess the owners don’t read or care about Unilocal reviews, because they have had the same issues since they opened and do not appear to care. The only thing that has changed is the number of patrons. ..

Made reservations(glad I did) and the atmosphere is amazing. As suggested on here, we got the sizzling mushroom appetizer. They were a hit at our table. I have to say, I have never had anything like that as an appetizer before, but we all loved them. Two of our party ordered the Gambler and it was so good(I stole a couple of bites). I got the brisket(because so many recommended it on here) and it was amazing!!! And one of use ordered a chicken Marsala type dish and it was also amazing. I will definitely be returning. We all had a great time. And when we were finished, the woman who drives the golf cart stopped and asked if my daughter and I would like to go for a ride. My 3 year old’s eyes lite up. The entire visit was amazing. Oh and a shout out to our amazing server Nick, you did an AMAZING job. I always love it when people understand my dad’s humor and you got it!

3.5 Stars: I really like the food that I have had here and the wait staff has consistently been good. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing and they even have a little cart to drive people from their cars to the restaurant. I wanted to give them a better rating, but there were a few issues. The prices are quite high. Its hard to spend under $ 20 a person here unless you order nothing but a sandwich. Also, when I was there last they were out of the dish I wanted and the dessert we wanted had been taken off the menu. That was a big bummer since it was one of their best.(The Pumpkin Bread Pudding). I also found the cocktails too sweet and syrupy tasting. I will go back though. The service is good. The staff is very nice. And the sizzling mushroom appetizer is to die for.

Can’t believe I haven’t Unilocaled about Dingus McGees before! It is my favorite restaurant in Auburn! Hands down! Actually I think it may be my favorite anywhere. It is where I want to go anytime we go out because it is consistently good. Always hot, fresh, delicious. I usually always order the unique dinner specials, usually whatever the fish special is and every time I’m blown away. The bread pudding, is amazing! It is as good if not better than Awful Annie’s bread pudding. Yes it is that good! The other desserts are all great too. The steaks are wonderful, ribs delicious, pastas, soups… everything! Oh and the calamari, the sauce they give you for it, is so so good! Clean, dark and cozy, great ambiance and they are always welcoming at the front door. The servers are all great, and I know good service worked in the restaurant biz for many years. Keep up the great work Dingus McGee’s!

At a place named Dingus McGee’s, you would not expect to walk in on a Saturday night and basically get laughed at if you don’t have a reservation. Morton’s Steak House, maybe, but not a place with Dingus in the name. I came with my fiancé and his sister and her husband a couple weekends ago. We ended up out on the patio which felt like someone’s backyard dressed up with mismatched Christmas lights. There’s also no music(or none that I could hear) so sometimes it was awkwardly quiet when other diners weren’t talking. Our server, Bill, though was great. Warm and knowledgeable and prompt. I ordered the brisket which was super tasty, but the roasted cauliflower was my favorite part of the whole dish. I could have eaten an entire platter of it and been happy. Drinks were decent too. I got some kind of whiskey lemonade that was so tasty I could have had a few without realizing it. It even came in your standard, kitschy mason jar. Overall, my group had a fine time, but it wasn’t anything spectacular. A 3.5 would be more appropriate if it were possible. Bill I would give 5 stars to though!
