We went to the Challenger Childrens Museum yesterday. Boy, were we disappointed! Everything was broken or incomplete and did not work. I mean everything! Exhibits with computers either had a fuzzy screen or a broken mouse. Exhibits needing balls or other items to use, were missing pieces. Exhibits needed paper & pencils were missing sharpened pencils. Upstairs in the space room, the moon rover exhibit wouldn’t drive. The kids puzzles were missing pieces. You get the idea. Very disappointing. If you are up for a drive, visit the Children’s Science Center in Davis, off Hwy 99, past Sacramento. Much better…

«Challenger Learning Center of the San Joaquin Valley is a mathematics and science facility that incorporates the thrill and adventure of space flight with the down to Earth necessity to master the fundamentals of mathematics and science. Along the way, three important skills are developed: teamwork, problem solving, and communication.» You have to have a group reservation, so your best bet is to get together 30 kids whose parents believe math and science are important, because it will cost you about $ 25 each. Call the facility and make a reservation, and go from there. The Challenger portion is about 3 hours. The best part is the kid’s museum next door, which allows you to bring in your own lunches. After you eat the kids can spend at least 2 – 3 hours exploring.
