Every Sunday at 6 pm the Elks Lodge hosts Bingo. What’s a 20-​something year old going to bingo for? Good question, haha. I find myself there accompanying my mom every few months for an exciting chance to win at the drawn out game.
This bingo hall accommodates 200+ attendants. And let me tell you, it fills up quickly! Arrive early (I suggest as early as 5 pm) and lay claim to some table space. There’s a front desk set up to buy playing cards for the various games throughout the night. Start with an «admission packet» then buy «specials» along the way for several chances to win throughout the night. At least 10 games played per night, each games winnings priced at $ 100 or more!
Best is the «progressive jackpot» games. If you can fill your card before a predetermined number of balls are drawn, you can win $ 1000+!!! I’ve come close on several occasions! TV screens line the walls to display bingo balls as they are called. The announcers are loud, clear, and explain each game as they are played. No one is left in the dark, very beginner friendly!
Bring a book to read while waiting for the night to begin or brush up on your conversational skills and swap stories with one of the other 200+ elderly patrons. Line up your bingo dabbers and position your lucky charms on the fold out table in front of you. Indulge in the free coffee, purchase candy and share snacks with those around you. Listen to people shouting out things like «B4!. .. and after!» or «If you called my ‘num-​biz’ I woulda won!!» Good times to be had by all.
