Had fried chicken and barbecue chicken and potato salad. Not very good chicken, might be one of worst I’ve ever tasted. The meat was really dry, even the dark meat and it had no flavor. The BBQ chicken didn’t look too appetizing, sauce wasn’t bad. It would have been 1 star except the potato salad was pretty good.

This is the worst breakfast i have ever had. We arrived well after opening to find the front door locked. Once we did get in i ordered eggs and chicken. I was told they were out of chicken and this item was to be taken off the menu. I ordered two eggs and pork with hash browns. The food finally arrived. Burnt hash browns and burnt eggs. I mean black. My wife had sausage gravy over biskets. Only no biskets. The cold flavorless gravy was over whife bread! Overall horrible food. Health rating of 87. Yuck. Dont bother coming here. This place needs to go away

Great Carolina BBQ! Good prices and hot food. I got the small pork bbq plate with potato salad and fried okra(which is the best I’ve had in awhile.) It was plenty of food, too! I’m not from here so I used Unilocal to find a good lunch spot. It was spot on. You should definitely check it out if you are looking for some good Carolina BBQ.

The guy that took my order was very friendly. We ordered the family pack and some extra BBQ. It was very good! This is a great take out place.

CHave heard of undependable opening hours. Stopped for chopped sandwich and puppies. Good bbq, a little wet, and good slaw. Good puppy recipe. Longer wait than expected, but the counter girl was working her buns off to take care of a holiday weekend lunch room and takeout line with just her and a new cook.

My best friend is the one who brings out the best barbecue! — Henry Ford White Swan BBQ& Fried Chicken is a locally owned franchisee. White Swan has 6 locations in Eastern North Carolina. On the menu is fried chicken, pork BBQ(chopped), fried shrimp, fish sandwiches, pork ribs and other Southern staples. On my most recent visit I had the BBQ pork plate with 2 sides and hush puppies. The sides I got were Brunswick Stew & baked beans. The baked beans were a little better than decent and the Brunswick stew was very good and filled with the most vegetables I have ever seen in Stew. The pork BBQ was bland with no spice at all. I made it better by adding Texas Pete. I will rank this BBQ low on the totem poll. But the sides were worth getting. The hushpuppies were bigger than my thumb, but only got 3. :(This location of White Swan also serves breakfast in the morning. Keep in mind the winter hours for White Swan is 6am to 2pm, not open for diner. Food C Staff B Décor D Location C Health Inspection Grade 94.5

Got the BBQ and chicken combo plate to go. Portion size was very small and BBQ tasted off/old, could not eat(takes A LOT for me to not eat). Hushpuppies supposed to be included but were not. Will not go back.

Nothing fancy but great BBQ. Brought home a feast for six hungry adults for $ 56. Having some more BBQ for lunch tomorrow. Delicious.

We have been visiting here for years and the White Swan is a regular stop at least once in our vacation. After eating seafood constantly, so by mid week we are ready for some protein! We usually do a lunch take out of fried chicken, bbq, slaw and onion rings. The fried chicken and onion rings are the bomb. The chicken has a really good mild seasoning that does not take away from the meat itself and is very juicy. The onion rings are very large and crispy — but not burnt! For the bbq and slaw — they are good but nothing to scream home about. Both are very standard fare, but very good quality. They have a window in the seating area so you can see the pig, sausages, and chickens getting cooked in the pit. We also do breakfast there at least once per trip as well. Everything is home cooked and very good quality. Fresh made pancakes are a favorite of my sons while we like the smoked sausage, egg and cheese biscuits. Of course being in the south, you have to have grits — and theirs are very good milled grits(not instant!!)! From what I can tell, this is very much a favorite for the local folks in the area judging by the greetings the crowd gets while they are there.

It might be unexpected to find good Carolina barbecue among the board shops and fried seafood stands of the Atlantic Beach strip, but there White Swan is, tucked by a Shell station on the end of a strip mall on the west outskirts of town. Be aware that it is a local chain, but with on-site ownership. Service can get a little scattered — forgot my hushpuppies and tea on today’s order. White Swan does especially good fried chicken and fried shrimp. It has a lively take-out business for the many vacationers in the area. Though part of a local franchise, it’s very much a family-run place, proud of the quality of its food and service. Quite a contrast to the many tourist traps in the area.

Clean place but one of the cooks failed to wash his hands prior to preparing my biscuits and gravy. I took my food to-go and after walking across the street, I noticed the gravy was ice cold. Unfortunately for me, the cook didn’t stir the microwaved gravy which was warmed in a tall tupperware bowl. I wouldn’t recommend this place and find it hard to understand how a cook can send you out with cold gravy, is it really that hard to prepare, excuse me, microwave gravy? Pass on this place for $ 2.25 a serving.
