The whole building was torn down… hi guys my name is Tina and my dad Cong and stepmom Happy use to own and run this place. It’s sad that the landlord sold the building and all the businesses have been forced to relocate. But Marie who has been left in charge to relocate veggie land has been actively searching to find a new location. Thanks for your patience and hope to see you all soon in the future :)

So, it seems a lot has changed in Veggieland… I’ve heard that owner Happy is no longer affilated with the restaurant and hasn’t been for awhile(which might explain the recent reviews.) And now Veggieland is «temporarily closed» per the message when you call their number. I was told that they were looking for another location, but we shall see.

Not so good: The décor is fairly bland Though the main dish I got was exactly what was written in the menu, I wasn’t quite happy with it(too many tastes combined into one wrap) Good: The selection for vegans is fantastic Waitress informed me of difference between their vegan and soy cheeses(very considerate gesture) Price is very reasonable and the portions are generous Dessert was great(got the strawberry cake) Overall, this is a great place for a casual eat. Nothing fancy, but the good selection, service, and price trumps that. Will definitely eat here again.

Finally, a vegetarian’s restaurant! My latest craving haunt is Veggieland. I have become addicted to the Miko Curry(which I always request spicy and THAT version I keep referring to as the«Kathryn Curry» in hopes of having a dish named after myself). Everything I have tried is delicious and portions are generous. My other Veggielanders have tried the veggieburger and do NOT recommend this. The ambiance is not the fanciest, it is extremely sparse, but appeals to those of us who have just finished yoga and are feeling temporarily austere and ravenous. The waitstaff is very accommodating and sweet. They are terrific about making substitutions or «things on the side» and are able to satisfy my high maintenance bunch so we keep going back. Prices are VERY reasonable.

Excellent value, quality veggie fare. This place isn’t Buckhead, it’s more of a college-town veggie café like you’d find in Athens. Great for take-out, not much atmosphere inside, but it’s clean and quaint. Recommend the stir frys, Also veggie burger is excellent for $ 6(!!) with sweet potato fries. The Shayela salad(have no idea how to spell it) is an awesome salad topped with brown rice, beans, tofu and veggies. They also have great vegan desserts. Definitely recommend for a meal, but don’t expect the fancy interior of a Café Sunflower(or the higher prices, either).

Alrighty, let’s start out with the thing that almost ruined this experience for me: They are VERYVERYVERY Slow. For dinner, call ahead and order in advance if you want your food without wasting time. We waited almost an hour for our food, and in the end had it to go, because we had no time(this was dinner). In the process of changing the order to go, we were in such a rush that we didn’t realize she had forgotten to pack the Chili appetizer that we ordered, but did remember to charge us for it($ 3.50). One other bad thing I had to note was that two other people came in after us, and were all served before us. One of them actually finished eating and left before we got our food(!!) That kinda made me mad. Well, now that the ugly is out of the way. Why four stars? Because I hate vegetables, and to my surprise, I LOVED the food here. I wouldn’t say the food made the 1-hour wait entirely A-okay, but it definitely pushed my mood from pissed-off to satisfied as I ate. We had: Rice Paper Roll($ 3.50): Not bad, like a non-basil version of a Thai Basil Roll, and a pretty nice ginger soy sauce to dip in. Basically a salad in a rice flour wrap. Super healthy, and the sweet potato wrapped in it gives it a nice sweet starchy base. Often these sorts of salad rolls suffer from being too«empty» feeling, like you’re shoving grass with some salt into your mouth. The sweet potato really makes this roll special for me. :D Chili($ 3.50): I heard good things about it, but we were not able to try it(despite being charged for it), because the owner forgot to pack it into our to-go bag, and we realized too late. Oh well, next time, then. John’s Veggie Patty Roll($ 7.95?): Really really really good. Veggies, sweet potato, avocado(!! :DDD) and their home-made vegetable patty(crunchy and tasty) wrapped in rice paper, served with a cup of their«white sauce». Not a huge fan of the sauce in large amounts– just a little dribble of it on the side is good enough for me. These rolls were SUPER tasty, and I enjoyed the texture a lot, with the chewy-ness of the rice paper, with the crunchy ness of the veggies and the fried patty. This is really really good! Veggie Tofu Stir fry with Brown Rice($ 7.95): This was okay– a little tasteless. Not really suggested. Just basically lots of veggies, some almonds and tofu with brown rice. I liked the rice, but the veggies and stuff, not so much. In total it was a meal for two people that came out to $ 27.00 with tip, so about $ 13.50 a person– this was dinner, of course. Not bad at all: D

After going to a meeting at the Cobb Galleria with my dad, i felt incredibly hungry. I needed some food in me… NOW! So i thought about a good vegetarian option that was nearby. I remembered a friend referring a place known as «Veggieland» at one point and after looking it up, i realized it was on the way home. So i changed courses and set for Veggieland in Atlanta, GA. I arrived at 2:06pm on Thursday, july 082010: As we walked into this quaint little place, the two waitresses on staff stood at the counter with incredibly wide grins on their face. They asked if we were dining in or taking our food and going. After deciding to dine in, she told us we could sit anywhere we like. After sitting, she asked for our drinks. Due to the high summer temperatures, water was the ideal for both of us. Though the huge selection made it difficult to decide, we were ready by the time she got back. For an appetizer, we decided to split the«Rice Paper Rolls». For 3.50, we got two rolls of shredded romaine lettuce, cucumber, tomato, and carrots all wrapped up in rice paper with a side of their honey ginger sauce. I must say, i was impressed. The rice paper was a bit sticky, but they somehow made this simple dish taste excellent! I did not try the honey ginger sauce, but my dad absolutely loved it so i will be sure to take his word that it was good. For my meal, i ordered the veggieburger. I have tried many a veggie burger in my day, but none quite this unique. They hand make them with brown rice, carrots, celery, onions, rolled oats, sunflower seeds, and tapioca flour. It is then placed on a whole wheat bun with lettuce, tomato, onions, and a side of french-fried sweet potato. This burger was delicious, and i think i ate it a bit too quickly. It was fresh and you could taste it. The fries where also good. They are not as crispy as most fries, but they were more like large steak fries. They were served with ketchup, but they stood quite well on their own. My dad went simple and ordered a bowl of vegan chili. I tried a small bite and though i am not a big chili fan, it was not too bad. It was nice and warm, filled with lots of beans and topped with soy cheese. I wasn’t mush for it, but he enjoyed it incredibly. With him being a big meat eater, that is saying a lot. So as we were about to leave, i remembered a recommendation a friend had given me about this restaurant: «Try the humming bird cake. It is amazing!» So i could not leave without one. I was too full to eat it then, so i took it to go.
After a few hours, voices popped into my head saying«go and eat the cake!». I tried to ignore them as i planned to save the cake for a bit, but the urges rendered me helpless. The cake just sat there lonely in the fridge, and it needed a friend. So i grabbed a fork and devoured it. It was vegan, but the first bit kind of made me double think. It was too good to be vegan! It was amazing! Too bad it didn’t make it to see another day.
The staff at the restaurant were incredibly nice and the atmosphere was almost like an asian restaurant, but a little more diverse. The menu has so many different items on it whether it be the pasta with pesto or the western sandwich. And with the highest priced meal being under $ 8, it kept both my stomach and my wallet full! So whether you are a vegan or just want to eat some great food that is secretly healthy, and whether you are craving something from a good meal from another origin or a vegan cake that is out of this world, i would absolutely recommend this restaurant next time you are in the Buckhead area of Atlanta. –Andrew D. The food is great! Extensive menu and great service. I sat outside where I was bitten by a mosquito. The server noticed my bite and brought me rubbing alcohol for it. Genuine service and good food!

Absolutely delicious food for anyone who is looking for a healthy meal. I had the Trey’s Healthy Platter(a veggie burger patty topped with vegan cheese and vegan bacon with steamed broccoli and sweet potatoes, with a white sauce) and I absolutely loved it! The bacon was TODIEFOR! It tasted better than pork bacon. My father had the chili veggie burger with sautéed mushrooms and onions and he was a big fan, it had just enough heat without being overpowering. My mother had Sally’s Surprise– beans, rice, with a veggie burger patty and an array of vegetables. Delicious. Get the white sauce! Extra! Nice compliment to the veggies. We finished with a slice of the almond joy chocolate cake. It was the perfect end to a perfect meal. It was perfectly rich, splitting it between us was a very good idea. After I finished my meal I felt satisfied without feeling sluggish or stuffed. I’ll definitely be going back, you should too!

Just a note: this review is for the dessert. I enjoyed a scrumptious piece of the Veggieland vegan cake yesterday. It was moist. It was chocolaty. It was delicious. The atmosphere was nothing special– a little rundown looking. But the service was nice and prompt. The other customers(regulars I would say) were helpful and friendly. I will return for more cake.

I could’ve eaten two veggie burgers — they were that good. They make their veggie burgers with brown rice, carrots, celery, onions, rolled oats, sunflower seeds, & tapioca flour. The dish also comes with a side of their sweet potato fries which was just ok for me — mostly b/c I like my fries crisp and theirs were flaccid like maybe they were warmed in the microwave. But the burger more than made up for it — I loved the crunchy texture, too. And another best part — only $ 5.95. Forget those fast food value meals — this is 10x better plus it’s good for you. Oh — I also ordered a guac topping b/c avocados are good for you … ok, b/c I was afraid the veggie burger might be bland. I’d get the guac again but the burger can stand on its own w/o the toppings. For dessert, my friend & I shared a piece of the hummingbird cake which was yummy but a little too dense for me … I like my cakes light. Our server said the hummingbird cake is their bestseller but her personal favorite is the strawberry cake(note to self). I’ll definitely be back. Their menu had five pages of very interesting dishes and I had a difficult time deciding what to get — that’s a good sign for me to come back for more.

Given all the great reviews, we thought we’d give this place a shot– my wife is definitely trying to up my intake of veggies, and so this was a perfect place to go. The place is decorated with eclectic paintings on different materials– plaster, canvas… strange paintings that were on display to be sold– $ 250 for one of them. Mmm. Maybe I’m just cheap, or not artsy-fartsy enough, but I think not. Okay, onto the food. Country Tofu Steak– My wife ordered this– the fried tofu was decent in its texture– the accompanying vegetables(broccoli, onions, squash) were ok. The thin layer of sauce covering the bed of brown & white rice saved this dish from being an exemplary demonstration of ‘bland’. Score: 3 Tofu Curry with Vegetables– There was actually a specific name for this dish that I forgot– but I’ll say that the vegetables were cooked well(not too soft, not undercooked), the curry flavor managed for the most part to seep into the vegetables. The rice was mixed with a healthy portion of black beans– which is a strange but actually workable mix in a curry context. The tofu… well, some of my blocks of tofu tasted a bit sour. Score: 3 The food here gets a 3, but their very reasonable prices gives them an extra ½ star. Overall: 3.5

Veggieland is definitely an excellent choice for any vegetarians/vegans or any health conscious carnivores such as myself. I have eaten there many times over the years, though my visit last night was the first in a long time. Not much has changed and that is a very reassuring. I went with a friend who is a vegan and she seemed to really enjoy the food — especially the deserts. It is nestled, somewhat unassumingly, in a little strip center on Pharr road, just west of the Fish Market. There really isn’t much to say about the décor — it is almost cafeteria like in ambiance(sans a buffet line). The food tasted the same as it did two years ago, and while some things were somewhat underwhelming, I really enjoy the change of pace this restaurant offers up. My friend and I started off with an order of the sweet potato fries and the rice paper roll. The fries were top notch, just as I remembered them. Though I usually prefer crispy fries — I was quite pleased with their texture and flavor. While I do not believe they make their ketchup in house, it did have a nice flavor — much better than the standard Heinz 57 that everyone seems to use. The rice paper roll was okay at best. I was disappointed in the lack of creativity used when developing the roll. There didn’t appear to be any seasoning or spices on the vegetables, and some mint would have been a welcomed addition. The sweet sauce that came with it did help add some flavor. Still, I would go back to the spring roll if I had the chance. It may not be any more flavorful, but the fact that it’s fried gives it an advantage in the flavor department. For our main course, we split a western sandwich and the grilled«chicken» sandwich. Remember, it is faux chicken. The western was a tofu creation with some really solid flavor. It had a nice sauce and was very flavorful. The grilled chicken was something I had eaten previously and it was just as good as I remember. It comes with the vegetables on the side, and though they were very basic(onions, lettuce, and tomato), the«chicken» had a good flavor. Mel added a bunch of spicy mustard to it before handing me half — so I was happy with it. I think my favorite thing on the menu is still the chili dog. I am not a desert eater, but I couldn’t let Mel P. leave without getting her desert fix. We had the traditional chocolate cake and the hummingbird cake. The hummingbird cake was flat out awesome. Remember, I am not a desert eater. The sandwiches and the roll are pretty indicative of how everything is here. It’s fresh, but they do not really push the envelope with anything, the dishes are very basic. So though their dishes lack some of the polish of a place like Dynamic Dish, this is an excellent place to grab a healthy meal.

Ace. The inside has a homey, quiet and charming feel. As vegetarian places go, this place has an enormous menu. I tried their veggie burger patty(composed mainly of brown rice, I think) and found it to be pleasantly hearty in comparison to the veg-patties you’ll find elsewhere. Will definitely be going back, and soon.

I don’t make in to B-Head much but I had to go to the mall and decided to come here for lunch after reading the excellent reviews. I give this place 3 stars because my Husband’s «Grilled Chicken Sandwich» was the most pathetic thing I’ve ever seen(see attached photo). The sweet potato fries served along side were exceptional. I ordered the County Fried Tofu, which was served with brown rice and vegetables. It was very good; I loved the consistency of the tofu and the gravy that was served over it. Unfortunately, I had to split it with my Husband because he was still hungry from his«Grilled Chicken Sandwich»(see attached photo).

I don’t know if I am saying anything new here that hasn’t already been said but I thought I would go ahead and add one more review for this place. Veggieland is a really interesting restaurant. It is kind of tucked away and what is inside might surprise you. It is sort of like a small diner and then sort of like someone’s kitchen. Everyone here including the owner is soooo nice and friendly. The menu is very extensive and diverse. Perhaps more than any other vegetarian restaurant I’ve been to. I really wasn’t sure what to order and had to get a few things explained to me. Everything is pretty much home made and fresh. I couldn’t get over the feeling that I wasn’t in a restaurant but someone’s house. and someone’s mom was cooking for me.(weird.but GREAT!) I would not say that the food here is to die for… but it is defiantly worth stopping by for lunch. I am not sure if this place deserves 5 stars… but I think the uniqueness of the place demands some recognition. And the diversity of the menu will have you coming back. You probably want to stick to lunch here unless you like eating an early dinner. They close at 8pm.(at least on some nights… I can’t remember if it is every night or not.) Better than listening to me just watch this YouTube video

After reading other recommendations on Veggieland on Unilocal I had to try it. I liked it. It was a quaint little place and the owner who’s name is Happy was very nice and.happy. I ordered the special which was veggies sauteed in black bean sauce. It was light and fresh. I was delighted that the veggies seem braised… cooked lightly so they still maintain the nutrients and crunchiness. And it wasn’t oily at all like all the Asian dishes I’ve eaten made with black bean sauce. I was very happy to find the desserts were vegan and that they had a couple created without sugar. I had the chocolate almond joy cake which was sweeted by applesauce. Light, dense and moist and yummy! I also ordered the sweet potato fries. Getting the sense that I was some kind of health nut(dunno where they got that from =)) they gave me the option ordering it steamed. I came out of there feeling great, full yet light, and best of all I had plenty of money left to go to the bars. Great place to have a healthy, inexpensive, non-pretentious meal.

Yumm yumm yumm. To be honest, I don’t seem to frequent this place as much as I do other veg*n establishments in Atlanta. Most likely because it’s in Buckhead and Buckhead and I don’t jive. You dig? I always seem to come by here during lunch, when I haven’t brought anything eat and don’t feel like gorging on falafal from Shipfeifer, a veggie sand which from anywhere or just making a decision in general(which I’m not good at whatsoever). It’s not too far of a hike from my office, but thankfully I’ve never had to wait longer than 15 minutes for my order once I’ve placed it. Everyone there is super friendly and they have a delicious selection of items. Italian, Chinese, Mexican and American… it’s all fresh, yummy and healthy. Three important things in a meal. I’ve ordered a different item from their menu each time I go in and I’ve always been extremely pleased. Today I had tofu, eggplant and some veggies over brown rice. I usually loathe rice(unless it’s quinoa), but somehow I enjoyed the rice so much that I ate most of it. One of these weekends I’ll make a trek into the forbidden zone for Veggieland. I’d like to actually sit in the restaurant and eat, rather than suffering on my car ride back to work smelling all the wonderful scents coming from my bag-o-take-out knowing I shouldn’t pick at it until I’m not actually driving…
