On Friday, I was craving Oysters/seafood and didn’t feel like cooking. The problem was it was 7pm and bf and I didn’t have reservations anywhere. I told him to pick somewhere and surprise me and when we pulled up I was surprised. Like other reviews mention, you can’t judge this establishment by its external appearance. If I did that I wouldn’t have eaten there at all. I thought we had arrived at some type of seedy lounge and not a seafood restaurant that has been in Atlanta for over 30 years. Once inside, I felt much better. I loved the décor and we were seated promptly which was great as we had not eaten much that day and were very hungry. They have bread service and the French bread they bring out is homemade. It is warm and crusty. I was sad that both the oyster choices were cooked… I’d like more choices. We went with the Oyster Rockefeller and they were good but not nearly the best I’ve ever had. The food, however, was phenomenal. It tasted fresh and not too salted or seasoned. I had the crab meat gratin which was so rich that I took half home for later. All of the meals come with vegetables and buttered potatoes which are honestly almost mashed potatoes, kind of a weird consistency. My bf had the fried seafood platter which he loved and ate every bite of. I think it’s a popular dish as I saw several of them come out of the kitchen. We saw the table next to us eating crème brûlée which we then HAD to order! It was phenomenal — Would highly recommend saving room for it(or taking half your food home and eating it anyways). I will definitely be back!

This place is delicious and CONSISTENT. The gumbo is amazing for $ 5. I fell in love with the Baked stuff flounder so I get that every time I go which comes with rice pilaf and veggies(carrots, cauliflower and broccoli) and it is delicious every single time. My friends have gotten other dishes and enjoyed them as well. The staff are ALL nice, pleasant and attentive. They make jokes and conversation and make you feel welcomed, which I deeply appreciate. The bread is good too, I’m a bread lover. The selection and price of their liquor/wine seems to be competitive and not overpriced. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Oh and its right next door to a smoke shop, how much better can it get.

I was pleasantly surprised. We’d driven by this place many times but didn’t stop because the plaza looked sketchy. Glad we went in finally. Food was prepared well, delicious, good service and the atmosphere was good. Looks more like a Chinese restaurant but pleasant.

The location of this place is sorta treacherous coming in and going out, but mostly going out with cars coming around a corner at rather high speeds. I feel like I’m playing dodgeball just to leave the place. Looking at the place as you walk up, not good. You would think you’re entering an establishment that’s very suspect IMO. When you enter, the décor is blah, very dark and outdated appearance. The space is small, cozy and pretty intimate. The clientele seems to be very loyal since most of them are greeted so warmly and by name. I didn’t see anyone who walked through the door that wasn’t greeted by their first name, so they have something going for them — a positive indicator. Server was very prompt, took our drink order and brought bread to the table. Also, they don’t mind seating partial parties which is a plus because the bar/waiting area is very small and crowded. Didn’t go with an appetizer. None of them look too appealing and I wasn’t feeling too adventurous that evening. I ordered the special of the day which was a broiled Halibut garnished with shrimp on top with a sweet potato and squash hash on a bed of rice pilaf, peas and asparagus. I was a bit disappointed in the presentation and portion of the entrée. The halibut was a bit on the small side and cut poorly although cooked properly and firm. Seemingly, the peas were cooked but looked as though they were still frozen. Falling short of expectation was the shrimp because they put only one shrimp on top of the halibut and the asparagus were more like petite asparagus. The vegetables and hash were not particularly seasoned nor did they appear fresh. Rounding it all out, they said the dish was simmered in a light butter sauce. Well, it was more like a thick, greasy butter sauce which started to coagulate before I could finish half of the entrée. Overall, I enjoyed the experience due to the wonderful and pleasant waiter(s) and the homey feel of the place but it feel short on the food profile and taste. I’ll return to try something else on the menu probably Snapper«duh» or the fried seafood platter just to give the place a fair shot on living up to a seafood restaurant.

The hearts of palm salad is unbelievable! Don’t let the exterior fool you. The interior is simple, the service is great and the food is consistently yummy. Restaurants don’t stay around for 30-years unless they’re doing something right!

I had lunch here today with my second mom… When I first walked through the door I was a little skeptical. I contemplated leaving after ordering our drinks… Our waiter asked if we were ready to order and I can truly say that I wasn’t ready because of my skepticism. Another waiter Dave came to our table to answer any questions we may gave about the menu. He suggested a few items I which I said ok we’ll give the place a try… I can actually say the good was good and Dave our waiter was superb. He was very attentive and desired to make us happy. I can say I was pleased. Thanks Dave for encouraging us to stay! We had a good time.

My wife and I went on Friday night. Everything was great! Server was great as well. He went out of his way to say everything was made fresh onsite! Dessert was good as well. We will be back!

My wife and I just heard about this landmark Cheshire Bridge restaurant, although it’s been there over 30 years. Dinner was wonderful, beautiful preparation, freshest of ingredients and fresh fresh snapper. We had two snapper specialties, the oysters and terrific gumbo. You would pay 2 times the price in Buckhead or midtown! We even like the ambience, white tablecloths and warm feeling. Great waitstaff and attentiveness . GO!

Enjoyed the seafood with my son on Christmas Eve but was trepidatious considering its surroundings. Four types of fried meat for son(soft shelled crab, snapper, scallops, and shrimp) and a red snapper special for me. All delicious and I wish I had room to eat more.

Best seafood in Georgia! The chef is extremely talented and the food is to die for! I must have it at least once a month and for holidays, my birthday, and special occasions! Red Snapper… please contribute to do what you guys are doing!

In one word: cockroaches. Sat down on a Saturday night with my party of seven. While the last person placed their order, we spotted a giant cockroach on the wall, which they tried to smash with a napkin and return to taking our order… Needless to say we did not stay for the meal. I’d suggest somewhere cleaner for your night out.

This place was totally amazing. The food was fresh, the service was wonderful, the atmoshphere was comfortable and the restrooms were clean. I celebrated my birthday here and had a large party of people. The waiteres were very attentive to everyone. The food was delightful. If you visit the gumbo is a must. I had sampled several appetitzers and was too full to eat my entrée so I took it to go. I had it for lunch 2 days letter and it was great! That is a good indication that they have fresh food. Drinks were good as well. Kudos to the chef and staff.

It was my first time there but my friend who brought me was a regular. The food was good, the people were really friendly and the prices were reasonable. If you are looking for some really good fish dishes then you should definitely give it a try. I ordered snapper off the menu and my friend had the special. I would definitely return.

I had been looking at The Red Snapper for years but the façade skeeved me out so I never tried it. So glad I finally did. I had no idea but the food is great and the inside has, well, character. It is a blue hair Mecca! Like, your grandmother eats there. She shows up right at 5:30pm. She probably had her first date with your grandpa at The Red Snapper. And why not? The food is really, really, really good. Start with the fried soft shell crab. It is on a little bit of fettuccine with a little curry sauce. I emphasize ‘a little’ because the crab is the star. Despite the extra yumminess the crab stays crisp and succulent inside. Or try the Crabmeat En Coquille which is spinach and crab in a very thin pastry. Sounds weird, right? Delicious! There are lots of fish and shellfish choices on the menu but the whole point of going is the snapper. They do snapper seven or eight ways. I chose the Snapper Gourmet which was absolutely scrumptious. It was on rice pilaf and vegetables and topped with, wait for it, lump crab with toasted slivered almonds and a dab of hollandaise. It melts in your mouth. The homemade coconut cake was a perfect way to end the meal. Have to mention the service which was excellent and everyone is friendly and helpful. A very good experience!

From the outside, this small, seafood restaurant owned by a Thai family looks like the type of hole in the wall place likely to give you food poisoning the next day. However inside you will find a nice, homey, classy, tasteful seafood restaurant. The seafood can be best described as average. Presentation was not very great, however, the food was better than it looked. I had the blackened shrimp which came with an assortment of vegetables and potatoes. My parents had the blackened snapper and an assortment of fried seafood. We agreed that everything was good. Not great but good. Overall, probably not the best seafood in Atlanta, however, The Red Snapper is a cute, classy restaurant with pretty good seafood.

This is one of those hidden gems for sure! My best friend and I were in town for a few days and a couple friends were planning to try this place for dinner so we decided to join them after checking out a few of the other reviews. All the reviews were definitely dead on. Everyone at the table agreed that their food was undeniably fresh and tasteful! The waiter was extremely pleasant and being that it was all our first time at the restaurant she provided us all with a brief of all the menu favorites. We talked about how great the food was the entire ride to the next spot lol. Can’t wait to try something else on the menu our next visit to Atlanta!

Went there on a Saturday night. Although pretty full, we did not need a reservation. I ordered the Shrimp Gumbo for an appetizer and I must say it was some of the gumbo outside New Orleans. For the main course I had Snapper Yvonne and my girlfriend had Snapper Gourmet. Both meals were perfect and served hot. The snapper were had fantastic flavor. The staff was outstanding. They were attentive without interrupting our dinner or conversation. You will not go wrong going to this long established restaurant.

I’ve had my fare share of seafood, and this place executes snapper beautifully! I had the soft-shell crab as an appetizer, which was one of the best I’ve had(I love soft-shell crab). It’s breaded and fried beautifully, served on a bed of fettucine with veggies. I tried the Snapper Siam and the Blackened Snapper, both amazing. The blackened was done right and the siam had a wonderful flavor. Full bar, cocktails were nice. Service was great. Romantic atmosphere. Love the old school reservations ledger. Would recommend and definitely come again.

If I could give this place 6 stars I would… EXCELLENTHANDSDOWN. from start to finish… I just can’t believe I drove by this place so many times & never decided to eat there. but always saw the parking lot PACKED. that should have been the good sign to eat here. Well I was reading the reviews on Unilocal and I am a elite reviewer on there so I decided to come here about 8:45pm on Friday night. the parking lot was packed we had to park all the way in the back down the hill. We walked in got seated right away. the restaurant was nice w/the table cloths & settings not too much over the top but nice. We started out with the Soft Shell Crab over Fettuchini appetizer … OMGTHATWASSOGOOD we demolished it… That could be an entrée itself if had more noodles and another crab… Next we ordered the house special which I cant recall the name but it was red snapper served w/season jasmine rice w/sauteed spinach & asparagus topped with some nuts in a orange marmalade /w capers light sauce. THISWASSOGOOD make you want to jump up an smack somebody… We also order a glass of the Vila Rosa Moscato d’Asti this was so good we should have gotten the bottle but we had to drive home. For desert I ordered the Apple Normandy(my opinion the best dessert on the menu) my friend ordered the chocolate mouse cake an it was good but mine was so much better he kept trying to eat up my dessert… I have been to a LOT of restaurants in Atlanta, this place TOPS all of them. We will be coming back here.

We started with the Gumbo that was delicious, great flavor and not too thick. Next, the Snapper Siam and Curried Shrimp and Scallops were amazing. Both dishes were full of flavor and had slightly Asian influences. Great choices! We ended with Coconut cake that tasted straight from the islands. Definitely the best coconut cake I have ever had.
