Really glad we found this place! Delicious, fresh food and open on a Sunday! Beat the crowds and get the fancy egg sandwich.

On a lazy Thursday afternoon when I should have been working, I headed out to Octane(Westside) for an espresso pick-me-up. Came across a new café and bakery called Swit. Fell in love immediately. So cute! My wife and I have been back several times for breakfast and it’s never too busy. Definitely worth stopping by!

great atmosphere– relaxed and inviting. I dropped in for a late lunch and tried the salmon tart, which is divine, you must try! I got the turkey sandwich while my sweetie got the chicken sausage, both of which were winners. Now for the desserts– todays choices were lemon meringue and strawberry pie, or crack. That strawberry pie was unbelievable good.

Underwhelmed. That is exactly how we felt. Completely underwhelmed. Swit boasts decent Unilocal reviews, is in a promising location and is very airy/bright and cute. But none of that helps the food and none of that is really helping this review. We stopped by yesterday as it was the only place in the area we could agree on for lunch that was actually open(it was 4th of July). At first glance, their menu had several promising items and I was excited about trying a few of them. I ended up ordering the ABLT(avocado BLT) and Jeremy H got the Turkey Truffle. You order at the counter and then take your number to your table and they bring you your food. We proceeded to our table, and the server brought us our food but totally forgot about drinks. We actually had to go back and remind them ½ way through our meal that we had nothing to drink. Kind of a big mistake, no? Anyway, the food, that’s really what this is about. The food was just meh. My first unimpressed point was the packets of ketchup that came with the fries. You are a cute, trendy bakery/café and you don’t have bottles of ketchup? Fries are one of the only sides you can get with the nearly $ 10 sandwiches & I really wanted a nice bottle of ketchup not some dinky packets. The fries themselves were fine. Nothing special, not too greasy, not too crunchy, just fine fries you could get at a corner hamburger stand. The sandwiches were also nothing special — totally underwhelming. The descriptions made them seem like they would be on wonderfully fresh tasty bread with delicious combinations of meat, cheese, veggies and spreads. While the bread(supposedly made there — you couldn’t tell) and all the ingredients were there, nothing really wowed us. The ABLT tasted like they mashed an avocado and spread it on the BLT instead of mayo. The Turkey Truffle was just like a turkey sandwich you could make at home. I’m not sure what makes a sandwich special, but these definitely were not. Overall we were underwhelmed and unimpressed at our $ 27 lunch for two. We will not be back.

Food: I got a Croque Monsieur and my date got a sausage sandwich. We agreed that the bread was homemade and yummy, while the toppings were good but nothing to write home about. The fries were crunchy and delicious. We finished off our brunch with a ridiculously huge slice of chocolate peanut butter cake. It was very dense, but yummy. We both have a sweet tooth and together we barely made a dent! Other: I really liked the atmosphere of Swit, it was open and airy. The ordering system could have been better. They have you order at the counter and then bring the food to the table, which is fine, but they bring the coffee to your table as well and the cream, sugar, etc is back up by the register. Not so convenient. Overall: Flavor could use a boost, but I would definitely try Swit again :)

Yum! Now this is breakfast! I just wished they stayed open so I could later so I could order this food for dinner! Seeing this place for the first time is a treat. You walk in and there’s a nice flow to the counter with dark woods and leather couches, plenty of tables, and a patio. Also, while ordering, you can see the staff working in the kitchen and rolling out doughs, which made me immediately want to order anything with bread from the menu. The Croque Madame was the star of our meal, followed by the wonderfully salty French fries. There’s an odd vibe between ordering at the counter and the servers. I’m still undecided on if there were servers and I really wanted ketchup for their French fries. Note to staff: It’s uncomfortable to order coffee, have it brought to the table, then have to pick up the hot and full cup and carefully take it to the cream/sugar station. This restaurant is a great addition to the neighborhood and a perfect way to start off a day in West Midtown!

I had looked up vegan bakeries and their name came up, however they didn’t have ANYTHING vegan or gluten/dairy free(allergy friendly). When I asked about the selection, just to make sure I wasn’t missing something, they talked right behind the counter about it, but not with me, it felt sorta weird and like the answer was some sort of secret or something, but whatever. So I opted for a chai tea latte, the flavor was decent, however it was SO small for nearly $ 4 and not spectacular enough for the price in the slightest. Two tea bags and a splash of soy milk in a small cup, REALLY? It was very disappointing. The décor was nice to look at, I’ll give ‘em that. The menu was very tiny, with a tiny, tiny selection of items for both breakfast and lunch. Next time I’ll just cross the street to Octane where I know my chai will be wonderful and there will be some other options and friendly, personable service.

Great new café on the West Side! Love their fresh pastries, which change daily. Great spot for brunch, especially the smoked salmon tartine. So light and fresh, and doesn’t leave you feeling heavy. Also good is the more decadent Fancy Egg Sandwich. The egg is served over-easy, and the runny yolk pulls all the components together from the earthy mushroom medley to the freshly-baked rosemary bread. Super excited there’s another great chill little café on the Westside that I can walk to. The décor is Euro-boho chic! My favorite spot is the homey fireplace which begs for one to spend a lazy weekend afternoon with a fabulous pastry and cappuccino. My only complaint is that I wished it opened later!

Finally stopped in here after a sweaty, buggy excursion into the Westside(Walking Dead) quarry site. Menu had good variety, satisfying both sweet and savory cravings. Enjoyed my chicken sausage sandwich very much, but the coleslaw side was a bit bland(and I wish they had more side options besides fries or slaw). Service was very friendly, and atmosphere was warm and inviting. Definitely a nice place to chill with some coffee and pastries. Excellent addition to the neighborhood!

I had been curious about this new place on the Westside and when I saw they had a croque monsieur on their menu I hastily put on pants and made my way across town. First of all, I love the space. Adore it. It’s bright and airy without being cold and a great mix of tables and couches so you’ve got the right spot no matter what you’re there for. They had a few outlets scattered around, but I wouldn’t necessarily come here dependent on one. They’ve got some delicious looking baked goods under the counter and their menu has a nice selection of salads and sandwiches if you’re looking for a legit meal. I only had one thing on my mind, and that was the deliciousness of a properly prepared croque madame: something I’ve yet to find in Atlanta. This croque madame was good, but not what I wanted. Instead of the ooey gooey calorie fest that is normally a ham and cheese sandwich covered in bechamel sauce, this was a heck of a lot lighter. No heavy sauce, no need to knife and fork it: this was a delicious hot ham and cheese sandwich, but not the croque I’ve pined after. Still, the ingredients tasted fresh and the bread was absolute heaven. My one teeny complaint in the service would be to have them bring a knife and fork when they bring you your food. There are napkins on the table, but that’s it. Otherwise, my stay was quite delightful and you better believe I’ll be back to sample more of their menu, this time fully prepared to order something on the lighter side.

Good bread and pastries, pretty good sandwiches. Croque Monsieur was fine but underwhelming, especially for $ 9.50, and the slaw side was practically tasteless.(Go with the fries instead — they’re good.) Service is still a little rough. Nice simple décor — one of the best extensions of the area’s quasi-industrial aesthetic I’ve seen — a slightly more elegant take on West Egg’s style. The fireplace will be nice when cold weather returns. At lunchtime there were a handful of wi-fi squatters who looked they’d been there since 9 a.m. with the same coffee cups. I’m sure Swit appreciates spillover business from Octane, but only if it’s actually business. I hope this place does well, as the neighborhood could benefit from the concept, but they’ll have to step up their game to compete with the increasing number of lunch options in the area.

They have some of the best pastries in the city, and arguably THE best pain au chocolat in the city. If you’ve had a good one before, you’ll know the instant you touch this one. Another favorite– their breakfast strudel is a savory pastry with farmer’s cheese and chicken sausage– so effing delicious. I’m personally a huge fan of savory pastries and wish more bakeries had them. The fresh bread is also really phenomenal. I’ve tried the Smoked Salmon Tartine and the ABLT so far and both were really delicious. Amazing what quality bread can do to a sandwich. Décor is nice and casual. Comfortable. The fireplace will be amazing when the cold weather comes back.

My only complaint is that the first dish I tried, the Polish Pickle, is so damn good, I haven’t been able to branch out to anything else yet.

Love this new place! Excellent sandwiches, pastries and bread! My absolute favorite items are the chicken feta sausage sandwich and the Croque Madame. Their Rosemary Bread is also to die for. Very European and contemporary but relaxed atmosphere. Service is super friendly too. Coffee is good… can’t compare to Octane though when it comes to espresso drinks, but then again Octane is in a class of it’s own. This place is never very busy(yet!) and it makes the perfect place to do some work or just relax with a friend. So happy for another great restaurant option on the Westside!

Hello adorable bakery/café of my dreams! Fantastic addition to the Westside — delicious fresh pastries and sandwiches, and be still my heart — Croque Madames! So very good. Everyone was super friendly. Wi-fi, excellent couches a plus. Word is they’re hoping to get their liquor license soon. I just hope this place doesn’t get too popular for me to fight people off that enormously cozy sofa!

Start eating pastry! So excited to see a dedicated bakery in the Westside. As another Unilocaler said, this is what Bakeshop should have been. The ambiance is Euro-chic. Something you would see in New York or Brooklyn. There’s a cozy lounge area with functional furniture! Not your typical college dorm style sofa with broken springs that sucks you in. The café side has a variety of tables, a bar, and a decent sized patio. They are also equipped with free wi-fi, and the music is not unbearably loud like so many other Westside café’s! Now, the food! The breakfast menu and pastries look great! The pastries are buttery and light and done right. I have also tried the croque-madame. It was very tasty, although for $ 10 I think serving a fresh green salad or fruit on the side would be nice. The pickled vegetables served as a condiment were a nice complement. For the coffee, I think they may need to expand on their offerings. They are trying to keep the coffee menu to a minimum of espresso and basic coffee drinks to focus more on the bakery since Octane is right across the street, so I was told. However, when offering café style food and pastry, you don’t want to send clientele across the street to grab an iced mocha on a hot Atlanta summer’s day. I would recommend they expand to more iced options and keep a few flavored syrups handy. Another suggestion would be to stay open a little later. All in all, a great addition to the Westside! I will be adding Swit into my mobile working rotation!

I think I have finally found the perfect Atlanta coffee shop. I almost don’t want to share this because Swit’s only been open 3 weeks and I want to keep this gem to myself. But thankfully I love sharing things with the Atlanta community more than being selfish. This shop is amazing. Flawless beautiful design with both couches and tables, a delicious diverse menu, and incredible customer service. This is what Bakeshop attempted to do and failed, thank goodness I have found Swit. We stopped in here today for breakfast and I saw my favorite thing in a restaurant. The beloved open kitchen. Gold star Swit. They have everything from fresh baked bread to ham and cheese crepes with asparagus(which was delicious), and while we were ordering, the staff was busy making countless other european pastries. They make everything fresh each day and while I wish I could share pictures of our dishes, I ate them before I even remembered to take a photo. If that’s not an endorsement, I don’t know what is. They serve lunch as well and you better believe I will be busting a move next chance I get. They have a cute patio that looks like the perfect place to work for an afternoon. I have a feeling this is going to quickly become one of my favorite places in the city.

Pros: good coffee, fresh pastries, free wi-fi with electrical outlets for laptops, bright & spacious interior, fireplace, plentiful parking Cons: only one type of coffee, limited hours For me, I used to have a difficult time choosing between walking to Octane Coffee Westside — which was less than a mile away — or all the way out to Octane at Grant Park for their fresh baked pastries. Now I’ve found a solution in Swit Bakery and Café, located in the Brickworks complex(Hop City, 5 Seasons, etc.). Swit’s offers a variety of pastries, breads, breakfast and brunch type meals. Behind the register is a wide-open view of the kitchen where you can watch everything being made. At a glance, there are about 10 items in the bakery counter, at prices we’ve come to expect: chocolate croissants for $ 2.50, a savory parmesan, tomato and spinach strudel for $ 2.50 as well. I was in the mood for something sweet on my first visit: a hazelnut biscotti was $ 0.75, while a raspberry brioche was $ 2.50 as well. A large cup of Counter Culture coffee was $ 2.35, with free refills(!). The biscotti had a nice texture, and the brioche had a nice level of sweetness and blend of flavors. If comparisons must be made, then based on only two items I’ve had here so far, I’d say Cakes & Ale and Little Tart Bakery at Octane have the pastries here beat, but they’re still very good. The only knock at the moment is the lack of coffee choices(only one), but it happens to be pretty good coffee. Hopefully in the future they’ll expand their choices. On a practical level, I often head to cafes to get some work done, and it was unfortunate that places like Octane’s Grant Park location had no outlets. Here, there are outlets in abundance, and plenty of seating, including bar area seating and couches around a fireplace. If work is your aim however, I’d avoid the couches, as they — along with numerous decorative pillows — are awfully comfortable, and the warm hearth of the fire does nothing to inspire productivity. A large parking lot is also a huge plus. At the moment, unfortunately they close pretty early(by 5 for the most part) so heading here after work is out of the question. All in all this is a wonderful addition to the Brickworks complex that I plan on returning to often in the future. EDIT: there is now a wall sectioning off the kitchen from the dining area, which is a shame to me, but they also mentioned they’ll be opening soon in the evening with liquor, which if that is a tradeoff with the wall, seems like a decent trade

This place is having their soft opening for family and friends. We happened to stop by because we thought it was open. Instead of turning us away, they still great took care of us(on the house, I might add!). Service is phenomenal and the ambiance provides a fantastic place to study or meet up with someone for a coffee. Highly recommend for what is sure to become a go-to coffee/study shop for us.
