Its vietnamese owned. The gentleman has been here for 30 years n opened the shop. The wife moved here 5 years ago. Sweet lady! The outside looks outdated. The surroundings are also in an older block. The donuts are ok. They r not sweet like Krispy Kreme. However, they lack something out of the mediocre. They are very bland, not very savory. I got the Honey Dip and I didnt even taste anything honey. The other one I got was Bavarian Cream and it was filled with custard like cream, which was sweet properly. The donuts were not hot or frozen. I didnt try the sandwiches as I only came here after reading the reviews about the donuts and I was in the area for work, on a late Tuesday morning. The price was ok. $ 1 each donut. Selection was OK. They had glazed, Twist, lemon,… I would not come back here just because I prefer the sweetness/savorness of Krispy Crème donuts(I dislike Dunkin Donuts as well). Krispie Cream is also more accessible to me.

At this point I’d say I’m a donut connoisseur, so I’m serious when I say this place is far above average. Their donuts are really tasty! I had a ham and cheese croissant that was good, not amazing, but good(could use more ham and cheese inside). Anyway, I didn’t give them 5 stars only because I’m a bigger fan of the fun, creative donuts, which are also more expensive. Their prices are definitely on par for what they offer. So it’s definitely worth checking out.

Good little stop here for some donuts and croissants! Atmosphere — not the prettiest of places. Children’s toys are scattered throughout the shop. Place is kind of an ameba of tables and chairs. Not really the most inviting place to stay and eat, but typically I just go in get my order to go and leave. Donuts — massively underrated among other donut shops in the area who use gimmicky toppings to bring you in. If you want a traditional yeast chocolate glazed donut, look not further. They have better donut holes than Dunkin, especially the plain yeast glazed. And the buttermilk bars are to die for! More donuts range($ 1.75/dozen for holes or under $ 1 a donut). Croissants — you have to stop by early enough to grab one of these! The ham and cheese croissant is awesome! Ask to get it warmed up and it cannot be beat for $ 2.75. Again, massively underrated for the donuts and goodies they sell.

I am a BIG donut fan. So when I was having lunch in the area(I am rarely near here), I decided to make the drive to get some donuts. It was late in the day so there was not a full selection. I opted for the cinnamon roll and the twist. I preferred the cinnamon roll. The donuts were good, but not great. Very affordable. Note there is a 25 cent charge for credit card purchases. That’s not so much, but I guess a high percentage if you are only buying 1 or 2 donuts.

I lived in the neighborhood for almost 2 years, first time to dig it out. Quite lovely place, just opposite the street of a high school, great customer stream! Those popular flavors are easily sold out in the early morning, if you wanna try them, have to get up early =) love the buttermilk, willing to try more.

Go EARLY! These homemade donuts are really good! We arrived around 10a and most of the inventory was gone. Not your traditional donut shop. The donuts stayed fresh the entire weekend that I visited. My favourite was the twist, cream cheese filled, éclair… what the heck, they were ALL delicious!

Can’t believe I’ve lived in this area for years and driven past this donut shop thousands of times but have never noticed it. I’ve bookmarked this donut shop for ages but never realized how conveniently located this was for me! I went in to get a half dozen donuts and came out with 8 donuts for $ 6, tax included. Super sketch parking lot, but the two Asian ladies working were super sweet and friendly. Maybe it was an «Asians stick together» mentality but I didn’t mind the free donut. Note, $.25 cent charge on any credit transaction so either stock up on donuts or pay up with cash. I was so excited to get home and eat these donut delights. I had ended up with a jelly donut, a sugar donut(powdered sugar), a French cruller, a chocolate glazed sour crème donut, a chocolate glazed chocolate donut, a honey glazed donut, a blueberry cake donut and a buttermilk donut. They were about half and half glazed and cake. These reminded me of a glorified Dunkin Donuts. Definitely better than Dunkin in execution, but same concept. The cruller has got to be my favorite: light, fluffy, a little buttery and greasy, but super easy to eat and goes well with the homemade cold brew I had at home. Very fresh! I’ll have to go earlier in the day to catch some of the other fresh and popular donuts that I missed out on. Oh, and sandwiches. I guess I’ll have to try those at some point. Or continue to just gorge on dozens of donuts…

There’s no better donut in or around Atlanta than Dandy Donuts. If you’re looking for a hip atmosphere & fancy flavor donuts(smores, reeces, etc.) you should go to Revolution or Sublime(they’re both great). If you’re looking for the best of the best of regular types of donuts(cake, cruller, glazed, chocolate glazed…) YOUHAVEFOUNDYOURSHOP. Their chocolate glazed is my go-to & the honey dip will make my husband drive across town for donuts.

This has been one of my favorite pastry shops for about 16 years. Great breakfast sandwiches and lunch. Doughnuts are always fresh and delicious

I’m surprised I haven’t did a review of this place!!! The owners are the sweetest people ever! I normally go in around 9am on the weekdays and get like 3 donuts and one or two apple fritters. LISTEN — apple fritters are AMAZING!!! Best ones Ive ever had. The donuts are super good too, especially the buttermilk bar and the honey glazed. The price is even great too!!! Def. stop by and get some really good donuts from them if you are in the area!

The doughnuts here are flippin’ awesome. The service? Not so much. In fact, the service is so bad I felt the need to return from my semi-permanent Unilocal hiatus just to complain about it. Ain’t that always the way. We used to order doughnuts ahead of time to be picked up. The last time we tried to do this, my husband got there and they hadn’t even bothered to box up the doughnuts for us. Of course, by then they were out of everything. After being mad for several months and avoiding the place, we finally decided to try again this morning. I called and asked if we could order doughnuts to be boxed up now and picked up later. The woman I was talking to said yes. I told her that last time we ordered doughnuts, they didn’t put them aside for us and that I hoped they would this time. The woman asked what time we were coming, I gave her the time, and she asked if we were sure we would come. I said yes. She said, «Okay, bye,» and hung up on me. I called back and said we’d been disconnected before we got to order. She said, «Okay, okay! Bye,» and hung up on me. Never. Again.

If you want donuts… they are great here. I’d prefer this place over Dunkin. Get the donut holes too. Now for lunch the subs are great. I prefer the tuna but they are all good. The bread is very light and the wheat is also. Adding double meat or extra cheese is not worth the added cost. Stick to the menu.

Cute little donut/sub shop in the Chamblee area. Skip Dunkin’ and come here to support a local business. Very friendly staff and the donuts were tasty — still had some in the late afternoon. I want to try a sub next time!

I am in love with the honey doughnut and the cinnamon twist ! The service is friendly and the location is humble. I recommend trying a variety of things and choose your favorite. My hubby loves the chocolate covered ones!

Sub-Base. DANDYDONUTS! I’m a proud Chamblee alum and I used to go here all the time after school. The owners are the nicest people you will ever meet and the food is amazing. I think they renovated — which is great because there is now a flat screen in the eating area. The prices are great so you won’t have to worry about breaking the bank. I recommend my old trifecta: the raspberry jelly filled donut, the Philly cheesesteak and a strawberry-kiwi Snapple!

I haven’t written a review in awhile. I’m a bad person, but today is a new day. My girlfriend is dying in the dead zone that is Atlanta doughnut shops. I here it day in and day out. I hear it wherever we go. «Can we look for doughnuts?» My reply we can but they will suck. That was true until we found this place. Oh my just like LA, not Lower Alabama you twit, real honest Hollywood and movie stars LA they have Asian ladies making doughnuts. The quest for the buttermilk bar was finally fulfilled. Not a 100% substitute for an LA doughnut shop but a good emergency buttermilk bar supplier. It gives 5 because Atlanta doughnuts suck. The next person who mentions Revolution gets my thumb second knuckle deep in their eye socket. Get here early, get a buttermilk bar, an apple fritter, and a glass of milk. Seriously get milk though the coffee here isn’t bad but just get the damn milk I tell you. The place is clean, friendly and a must visit. If you need a real doughnut shop fix this is the place. If you don’t I don’t want to know you.

Not much in the way of ambience when it comes to dining at Sub-base Sandwich Shoppe but I enjoyed my experience and as many know, love holes-in-the-wall. After class one day, I figured that I would finally stop by. I love good doughnuts and sandwiches can float my boat. I walked in and noticed that no one else was there. To give you some context, it was approximately 1:30 pm on a weekday. Probably Tuesday or Thursday, since that’s when I have class this semester. Anyway, I perused the menu and admit that I probably have the blandest sandwich preferences. I got a turkey with pepper jack, lettuce, tomato, and Italian dressing on wheat. I asked for it to be toasted, as the chilliness of the day had my body wanting something warm to eat. After I ordered my sandwich at the registered, I looked at the wall of doughnuts. Not many remained, which I expected, given the hour I had arrived. I asked the older woman which one she recommended and she must have guessed that since I am Asian that I wouldn’t want something too sweet. I agreed that, at least for this round, I wasn’t in the mood for anything too tooth-aching. She recommended the the sour cream cake doughnut and also mentioned what her favorite one was(I think cinnamon? Sorry, I can’t remember). I went with the sour cream cake, but was intrigued by the Boston crème and apple fritters. Those will be tried on another visit, for sure. Once I paid in cash(they charge a minimal fee if you use your card, something like $ 0.50, but don’t quote me), I sat down and watched whatever was on the TV to pass the time. After 5 – 7 minutes, my sandwich came out. Now I had the doughnut with me and if I had been alone, it would have been gone by the time the sandwich made its way to me but since I was honestly concerned about being judged(haha!), I held together my composure. It was a good move though, as the sandwich hit the spot, not being anything completely mind-blowing(but what could have I wanted for what I ordered?). On my drive home, I devoured my doughnut and was thoroughly pleased that even buying something in the afternoon, the taste was still fresh and the cake doughnut had that ever-so-slight crispy exterior that cake doughnuts should have. Friendly service and lots of seating, if you want to park it while you grub. As already stated, don’t expect to fall in love with your surroundings, but for a casual lunch, ain’t nothing wrong with that.

Definitely 5 stars for the donuts. Our family has been coming to Dandy Donuts for years! Their donuts can’t be beat and are a must-try. The same Cambodian family has owned this shop for years. They are kind, hard-working folks that put out a consistently fresh and delicious line of donuts as well as croissants and apple fritters their customers love. Subs are also good. I notice they’ve added a new low-price lunch special of hot dog, chips and drink. The surroundings are definitely«hole-in-the-wall», but go and try the donuts.
