This is my third time to this salon, my second time seeing Jo. And honestly, this review is a long time coming! Overall, this is an awesome space– clean, the ladies are all super nice, and just a fantastic environment. Jo in particular is a great hairdresser– she’s the only one I’ve ever returned to besides my mom! Seriously. She’s really intuitive, and really gets what I’m thinking when I go for a new look. She’s rocked my hair both times I’ve seen her, and really refreshed my old, tired, basic look. I’m absolutely going to keep coming back! Tell her Andi sent you and you’ll get $ 5 off, too!

Jo is the very best! I went to her for a fairly big project. I wanted to take my hair from dirty blonde to platinum with half blue and half pink end a-​la harley quinn. It was an all day process from about noon until six thirty or so but so worth it, and Jo was kind enough to have me be her only client that day so there wasn’t any wait time between color processes and cut. My hair looks great, people stop me all the time to tell me they love it and ask where I got it done and best of all it still feels great! Jo recommended a trim and conditioning treatment to keep my hair healthy and I am so glad she did. Anyone who can do so well with such a big change like this can obviously do a great job at any other hair change you might want. Go to Jo and I promise you’ll be happy you did!

Jo is the shit. Star Salon is also pretty rad as well. If you want a great, fresh cut from someone who genuinely loves to cut hair then I highly recommend you book with Jo. She loves what she does; she has been doing it for quite a long time and continues to do it for the love of her art. And yes, when you cut so well it DOES IN FACT become art. Trust me, I’m an Architect.
Anyway!
I followed Jo over to Star Salon from her former shop. After Jo left I tried out a couple of other stylists andddddd it just really wasn’t working out. I knew that what was missing in my life was not just a great haircut, but a great haircut by Jo. As I said above she really loves cutting hair so I always know that when I go to see her she is going to do everything within her power to make sure I am walking out feeling like my most handsome and fresh self.
She also has quite a deep knowledge of products and can recommend you things to try out depending on what kind of style you’re going for. Jo is actually only one of two stylists I have ever trusted enough to take their advice on spending money on new products. Most of the time I feel like a stylist is just trying to push a certain product to make a sale. Do they get commission from the shop? I don’t know! But It never felt right. But Jo cares, and everything she has recommended to me has been well worth picking up as I still continue to use all of the products she has recommended to me.
Lastly I would say for the guys questioning if they want to spend a bit more for a cut at a salon; it is well worth throwing a bit extra to Jo for one of her cuts. Whether I am planning to go 4 weeks or 12 weeks in between cuts I know that I can’t go wrong with Jo. Every cut I have had from her in the last 8 months has grown out extremely well when I have been too busy to get back in sooner. So if you like to go less frequently you’re probably making an even better choice going to see Jo.

Now let’s talk about Star Salon! It is a pretty fresh spot to get a fresh cut; I must say. It’s right down off of the Belt line which I love because I enjoy biking around the city and the Belt line is a straight shot from my house over to the salon. So that’s awesome.
As others have said the salon has a very relaxed and warm atmosphere. Everyone is always very welcoming and friendly and relaxed. The place is clean, it smells good, and it is comfortable. Honestly I am a guy so I feel like it is pretty easy to please me as far as the salons go. But I have been to a fair amount of them and this is definitely a very nice one.

I’ve seen three different stylists in Atlanta to have my hair dyed blonde (from brown) and Jo has, hands down, done the best job! The color is amazing and works perfectly with my curly hair. She was also able to cut my curls so that they curl better than they have in years! My husband even said that my hair looks the best it has looked since I started having it dyed blonde. Thanks, Jo!

I moved to the area recently after finishing college, and I had only had one other haircut in town. I was not very happy with the outcome at that salon, so after reading some great reviews, I booked a same-​day appointment at Star Salon with Jo. She was so thorough with her questions before cutting my hair, and you could tell she wanted to get it right. While I am not super picky about my haircuts, since they are generally pretty simple, Jo really took the time to make sure we were on the same page. She did an awesome job on both the cut and color, and gave me some great tips on how to really care for my hair.
I loved the laid back environment of the salon, and enjoyed my whole experience. I highly recommend this salon if you are looking for a place with people who truly love what they do!

I am so happy with my experience at Star Salon! Jo gave me the best ombré color I have honestly ever had. She took one look at my photo examples and said, yep that will look great — and lo and behold it looks fabulous! Jo made a point to get to know me and how I normally style my hair (I’m a low maitenence kind of chick) and made suggestions based on that. She also had some great tips for keeping your hear healthy and shiny. Oh yeah, and the cut looks fantastic too! Exactly what I wanted. Getting compliments left and right! Overall, I would highly recommend color + cut by Jo!

Today was my first trip into the Star Salon and I will have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. It was an intimate setting with a warm atmosphere and friendly faces who greeted me upon my arrival.
My stylist, Jo, is always ready to begin cutting and shaping my hair as we chat and catch up where we left off. Afterwards I can say I am always impressed but what she can do to transform my head of hair that grows like a weed. I walked out with a smile, very happy with my transformation!

I followed Jo here from another salon. What I really love about her is that she truly takes the time to get to know you and makes awesome suggestions based on what will work for your life. Cannot recommend her more highly.

I never get my haircut and on a semi-​whim decided it was time to cut it all off (it was very long). Jessica, the owner cut my hair, she was awesome and my hair looks fabulous! So glad I went to Star! Prices are super reasonable as well. I will happily be going here for all my haircuts from now on!

OMG! Almost fell out of my chair when I found out my girl CeCe Costello was no longer here!!! No worries I’ve found her at Cameo salon! I’ll be seeing her Saturday to do something with this mop!

I don’t cut my hair very often, but when I do, I go to star salon. Two of my friends suggested it to me and I’ve recommended it to two more friends. I’ve had alexx and cece, both of whom were excellent with my long hair. The style always grows out gracefully enough that I can get away with procrastinating on my next haircut.

I went in today for a haircut and color. I met with Kristy and she walked me through different options for color and we decided that it would be best to color my hair at a later time. It meant a lot to me that she didn’t pressure me one way or another. Her recommendation (and amazing haircut stills) really made this place stand out for me.
The salon itself is super adorable. I got an next day appointment that fit my work schedule. Parking is a little tricky but well worth it!

I go through hairstyles quicker than the seasons change, and Alixx has been my go-​to hair guru for several years now. Beautiful bright blonde? Perfect. Bright red? Spectacular. Pink? Purple? Long? Short? Fringe? All of it, absolutely wonderful. On top of that, she’s not afraid to tell me when one of my crazy ideas probably wouldn’t work for me. I trust her to keep me looking awesome. Finding a good hairstylist is harder than finding a good boyfriend, and I’m so lucky to have found Alixx at Star Salon. Not only is she extremely talented, but she’s super sweet and easy to talk to. If I’m gonna be stuck in a chair for a few hours, I’d like to hang out with someone like her. I can’t recommend her enough.

Cece is the BEST! I’d been dying to try the ombré look for awhile now and was starting give up, but she was highly recommended to me and she fully delivered. I’ve gotten so many compliments on her work and will definitely return for more. Thanks Cece for breathing some life back into me and my locks! :)

This was my first time at Star Salon but I decided to go through with it because I read the good reviews. Turns out I ended up really glad I did! I got a cut, and dye done so it ended up a bit pricy. I really like how my hair turned out though!
The staff were all nice and my hairdresser, Kelsey wouldn’t let me go until my hair looked awesome.

So, so, so happy with my experience at Star Salon. I was recommended by a friend and so glad I took her word for it. As an Atlanta-​newbie, I was really missing my hairstylist back home and kind of skeptical that I would find another person I liked as much and that would do some of the crazy things I would ask of her. I mean, we had been seeing each other for years now and became friends. The relationship you have with your hairstylist is a special one. You have to trust each other. So, I asked around and asked around. After about a year, I stopped in Star Salon and scheduled my consultation with Jessica.
I anxiously awaited my appointment, and to prepare, I took to Pinterest — pinning everything I liked. As someone who is not afraid to experiment with cut or color, I really need to trust the person that is going to cut and color my hair. What if we aren’t on the same page? What if she thinks I want something I don’t want? Ahhhhhh. So, I showed up to my consultation with my Pinterest board at the ready. Jessica was was excited to see the pictured I pinned. Her taste completely meshed with mine, and she made me excited about scheduling my actual cut and color. We went over a bunch of ideas, and I left feeling confident that I was in good hands. And boy was I.
She was booked for awhile, so if you are interested in scheduling an appointment, go ahead and get to it right away. I think it took 3 or 4 weeks for me to get the next appointment with her. If you are thinking about doing a consolation, you might want to schedule both so you don’t have to wait any longer than you need to.
We scheduled my appointment for an evening after work, about a three hour block of time. She had some great ideas, and I totally trusted what she wanted to do. And the final result was (is) perfect. I get so many compliments on my new do and color.
I have had yellow hair for a couple years, and since leaving Florida, I had just let it grow out because I hand’t found a new person. And I am so glad I found Jessica. She made my hair yellow again, and added some orange too, and I feel like me again. Like I’m supposed to be. And it doesn’t hurt that everyone seems to love it too.
