Brunch was delicious! I had a 12:15 reservation(because mimosa can’t be served until 12:30) for a party of three on Valentine’s Day. The restaurant has complimentary valet, so don’t worry about finding parking. The waiter was friendly and helpful and attentive, but he didn’t hover(which can be quite annoying). We had the beignets as an appetizer. They were tasty, but not nearly as good as Café Du Monde’s beignets. That’s probably not a fair comparison though. My friend ordered the shrimp, scallops, and grits. It comes with one big scallop in a bowl of creamy grits, topped with shrimp and a tomato based sauce. It was so flavorful and filling. My friend ordered the hashbrowns but didn’t even eat them because she was full. My brother is a vegetarian, so he went with the vegetable omelet. The veggies looked so fresh inside the omelet and he was quite pleased with his plate.(BTW: the omelet comes with hash browns) I believe that my choice was the best. I ordered the fried chicken and French toast. The chicken was perfectly crispy and juicy and the seasoning was just right. The French toast was thick and well battered. And they give you a banana syrup with real banana slices. I also couldn’t eat all of my food and am excited for the leftovers tomorrow. I definitely recommend that you give them a try. You won’t leave unsatisfied.

First time here. Love the atmosphere and customer service. Ran into an old friend and that was cool. The mimosas were great! Ordered two appetizers, both delicious. Also ordered the Shrimp, Crab and Andouille Sausage with home fries, it was okay. The eggs tasted bland, but most restaurants do. Just needed a bit more seasoning, personal preference. But over all it was a great first time experience and great service. Definitely a spot to check out. Also ordered the beignets to go! Looking forward to trying a bite of them! I seen many orders on tables and heard they were a popular starter

Love love love this place! Yeah the acoustics aren’t great but do you really care more about that than good food?! Everything I’ve ordered on the menu has always been fresh and tasty. The portions are appropriate except for the octopus appetizer. It is soooo good and octopus cooked soooo perfect I wish they put more on the plate! The salmon chips are awesome and a pretty big portion. Be ready to share, or not! The drinks are great too and nice wine selection. Just ask for a taste before you commit to the glass if you’re not sure. I’ve never gone for brunch so can’t speak to that but would think it would be good. Parking is convenient unlike some places downtown these days. Especially with the krog street market that just opened. I’d rather eat at Serpas anyway!

Absolutely awesome. Very underrated. We tried several dishes and all of them were standout wow dishes, plus the service was also very good for our 7:45pm reservation on a Saturday night. What we liked: 1) Tapas style appetizers. We had all appetizers. Here are the best ones we loved: — Salmon Chips — absolutely delicious. chunky pieces of salmon, cold, perfectly dressed, on crispy home cut chips. — Tuna tartar. Again with the apple and the chili sesame dressing, this was perfectly dressed and super delicious — Eggplant Hushpuppies — these really stood out. Never tasted anything like them and was one of our favorites — Pigs in a blanket — made with chorizo and some superb mustard. — Gumbo — thick chunky with plenty of seafood 2) Desserts. We had the Nutella Mousse Trifle. These was also excellent. My wife isn’t usually into dessert and she was full, but she still loved this one. 3) Service was very good. They were very attentive. What could be better: 1) They could be better at coursing the appetizer orders and spacing them out a bit more. 2) Location. I hate driving down to Inman Park. Wish Serpas opened a second store in Buckhead or Brookhaven.

Yet another ATL classic to fall by the wayside… As a NOLA native, I’ve been a huge fan of this restaurant since its conception(and by fan– I mean I just voted them best restaurant in ATL like a week ago). And yet, another one bites the dust. In brief, a traditionally great restaurant declines in food quality & service in classic ATL fashion. If you want a more thorough explanation, here’s the story of an unhappy NYE with Caryn: $ 75 pre-fixe menu, but based on past experiences, it would be totally worth it. So misguided unfortunately. So misguided:( So here’s my feedback sandwich: The hostess was lovely & gave out adorable NYE favors!(Thanks!) Areas with room for improvement: –Product availability: Primary entrée was sold out on arrival. We were informed a few minutes before midnight that the dessert had run out also. Only to be hassled mid NYE countdown by the server with the same information. –Presentation & knowledge of menu: If you’re going to be out of your top seller(or even if you’re not), know your chef’s favorite, most popular, & personal fave dishes. Instead it went like this: *Patron: «tell me more about your favorite entrees», *Server: «seabass is a fish, NY strip is a steak… Continued schooling on traditional cooking temperatures.» I’d say most modern day diners are knowledgeable when they go out. Share your opinion, don’t spew out basic facts. –Punctuality: circle back to the table in a timely fashion. Especially when the restaurant isn’t particularly busy. –Professionalism: Apologies are great, but let’s enhance our conflict resolution skills. When an issue arises, having a manager say sorry is sweet, but insufficient. Hear the patrons’ concerns without interruption. Provide a reasonable plan of action. Past experiences are irrelevant to a current issue– if your«best server» had subpar performance today, acknowledge it and address it with haste & without superfluous commentary. Back again on a positive note, the salmon chips were as good as they’ve always been. Regrettably, I won’t be back & I’ve advised everyone I referred to this restaurant re: the change of pace. Sadly, maybe this server was simply unhappy with having to work on a holiday. But in reality, that’s what adults do… Their jobs. #Colossians3v23

I really love this place, and with every interaction, it seems like the people who work there love it, too. The food is really, really good. We always start with the smoked salmon on potato chips and something else. Last night it was shaved calamari with a sweet and spicy sauce that is just enough to flavor the calamari without overpowering it. Dinner was the crab cake with heirloom carrots. A great dish if you prefer something on the lighter side. And we got the pork chop, which was so big that we only needed to eat a quarter of it, but so good we ate half. It’s enormous, and brined to perfection so it’s as moist and tender as could be. With the polenta on the side it’s more than enough for the biggest appetites. Dessert, at the suggestion of our server, was the bourbon bread pudding with a little dollop of ice cream on top. With a glass of Knob Creek, it was the perfect ending. We sat at the little bar that faces the kitchen and got to see everything the kitchen prepared. It was total food porn, and we had a front row seat. The short ribs were huge, and looked like they’d fall off the bone. The duck was sliced, and looked pink and juicy with a nicely caramelized crust. Truthfully, everything looked amazing. We can’t wait to go back. Final comment – everybody who works there, from the bartender to the servers to the expediter looked like they loved what they were doing and were having a great time doing it. That meant every interaction we had with the staff was positive and warm. Great food is nothing without great service, and Serpas has both.

Appetizer: Salmon chips Entrée: Trout(stuffed with crab and mushroom) with asparagus, peas, Yukon potatoes. Venison with arugula, goat cheese, radish, cranberry, nuts. Dessert: Bourbon bread pudding Beignets with spicy hot chocolate. The space is huge and the ambience feels suitable for lunch and a nice dinner. Music is calm and not blaring, great feel and spacing between tables so you can hold a conversation with the people you’re with. The waiters/waitresses always take pride in the fact that the chef is from New Orleans, pretty much hyping up their own New Orleans based cuisine, which I’m not a huge fan of because I’m of the opinion the food should speak for itself. The salmon chips are the most popular appetizer for a very good reason. The salmon was so tender for being cooked through and flavorful from smoking. The capers complimented the salmon well and didn’t dominate it with saltiness. The harshness of the red onion was also muted very well. Well balanced and tasty. The trout was cooked perfectly, soft, but skin cooked crispy with the butter melted on top. I love the pairing of field peas, asparagus, and fish so I was won over pretty easily by this dish. You get a pretty decent sized fish as well so no complaints here at all. The Yukon potatoes also melted in your mouth. They have the texture I want my potatoes to be: crispy on the outside, and almost mashed potato consistency on the inside. I’ve never had venison before but always wanted to try so we got it rare(rare is always the way to go), and I was so amazed by the different flavor profile and tenderness. I mean wow it was really good. The arugula salad was a nice addition and I’m glad nothing overpowered the venison. Could definitely taste the creole seasoning they pride themselves in. Then the dessert. Sigh. What a disappointment. For priding themselves in being rooted in New Orleans, they were pretty bad. I’m not a food critic by any means but man… the bourbon bread pudding would have been great if they cooked off the bourbon more. I felt like I was taking a shot of straight bourbon every time I took a bite, which I’m sure some people may be a fan of, but I was not. The spicy hot chocolate that came with the beignets was interesting and not too sweet which I appreciated considering it was as an espresso is to coffee as this was to a hot chocolate(very concentrated and thick). I was looking forward to the beignets the most because if any food is well known in New Orleans, it’s the beignets. I’ve never had one before, but I’m absolutely sure it’s not supposed to be soggy. They made the amateur mistake of frying the dough and then immediately piling on the powdered sugar, which means the drying process that gives it the airiness and crispiness was left out and the oil still on the surface absorbed all the sugar and made this soggy gross mess of a thing that couldn’t even be called a donut, but more of a cake(it was also really doughy). It was so thick and heavy instead of light and crispy that it was a pretty disappointing ending to the night. Thankfully the rest of the food was so good I’d still easily recommend this place. I don’t know if this was a one-off incident(though to be honest if you’re going to take so much pride in your food so as to tell every single customer about it before you send them, you really should quality check it), but the service was great and the ambience relaxing enough to enjoy a nice meal.

I met a friend here for cocktails & appetizers, both were great! I loved my tuna appetizer and the spicy tequila cocktail was quite good too. I debated about trying the octopus as well, but was too full to do so responsibly. They have quite an interesting menu that seems to change regularly. I’m hoping to make it back for a full meal while they still have venison on the menu! Will update once I’ve tried more :)

The salmon chips. Let’s just start there. I’m in town for a conference and met my friends at Serpas for brunch. Everyone was so excited about and suggested the salmon chips and I can honestly say they sounded weird and I was like meh… I guess I’ll try them. I ate half the plate. Lol. Somehow or another Serpas finds a way to perfectly season salmon and add just the right amount of capers, finely chopped red onions and a delicious aioli to make one of the best appetizers I’ve ever had. We shared a few other items, short rib Benedict’s, French toast, and fried oysters, but the shiner of the afternoon were the salmon chips. I look forward to returning to Serpas on my next visit to Atlanta.

Some stones can’t hold their shine for too long. Serpas is definitely one of those stones. My second last visit had left me in awe, the delicious food, the trendy vibe but it sort of came crashing down at my last visit. The food is definitely overpriced for the service. With so many brunch spots in atlanta it’s just common sense to stay at the top an eatery focuses on its customer service and stands out among others. There weren’t any changes in the menu which was a definite let down. The service was more of a nice diner than a trendy brunch spot and besides the mimosa, which I have to say is very delicious, nothing we ordered was extraordinary. Nevertheless it’s a good spot to brunch with a group of friends or family when your main concern is bonding, for foodies not so much.

One of my new favorite restaurants in Atlanta. Recommended by a dear friend and then another local, I was excited to visit. Great atmosphere. The staff was welcoming and nice. The calamari and salmon chips are ridiculously yummy! The ribeye — the seasoning — to die for. The pork chop– fabulous. The grits — very good. The Scotland Orchard is a wonderfully pleasant drink. I had to try it twice. Sean the bartender is great. Makes excellent drinks and is super friendly. Just a great meal. Not overpriced but the quality was excellent. The service, atmosphere, etc were top notch. Cannot wait to return when I visit Georgia again.

I’m giving this place three stars, and although I don’t really agree that three stars equates to A-OK, I’m going with it. We went here to celebrate our five-year anniversary recently. While nothing was bad per se, it wasn’t all that great either. The décor is cool. It felt a bit like a One Midtown Kitchen, a Two Urban Licks, or a 4th& Swift. It’s open and airy, not too intimate. We were seated at a very small two-topper in the middle of a lot of action. It wasn’t an ideal table for a fifth anniversary dinner, but they didn’t know anything about our little celebration. Drinks were slow to come out but I was very pleased with my cocktail, although I cannot remember what it was now — probably something with rum and ginger as that’s what I’m really into these days. Our server, Vanessa, was good. She seemed to know a lot about the menu, was attentive but not overly engaging. It was a busy Saturday night and she had a job to do. We were definitely taken care of, but there was a tiny lack of a certain je né sais quoi. That’s the best I can do there. Our appetizer was quite yummy, the Tuna Tartar. The flavors were there. They gave us just enough of the crisp and sturdy house chips to pile on lots of tartar, which was zesty, crisp, and oozing with good punch and flavor. I would go for this indeed. To that though, their appetizer list is a long one, with many good choices, so keep that in mind. We both agreed that it was our entrees that were a bit lackluster. I had the Maple Leaf Farms Duck Breast, my husband had the Berkshire Pork Chop. The duck breast seemed to be a little overcooked, and didn’t really have that great of flavor. The accompanied leg was salty and gamey, which might be par for the course for a duck leg. I’ve had duck breast at Ecco as well as The Lawrence, both of which were far better than this dish. It’s a meal I’m OK with forgetting. I didn’t complain, as I’m not one to do so unless it’s really bad, which it wasn’t, it was just bad. The bite bite of pork chop I had was nothing exciting either, although Vanessa raved about it and informed us it was a quite a popular menu item. The guy who the dish belonged to, my fellow diner, wasn’t pumped either. He finished it, but he was not a superfan. It was a big old chop, a thick sucker, but lacking in flavor. I did quite enjoy my lemon icebox pie for dessert, so that helps negate my disliking of my duck, but not by a lot. Duck, zero, dessert, one; ok, tuna appetizer, one as well. Hmm… two outta three ain’t bad. We decided to try Serpas because we waited far, far too long to make a reservation for Marcel. It might be worth another go ’round at some point, but in a city so full of great new restaurants, it’s likely we’d return somewhere else first.

We had THE nicest dining experience and most fabulous dinner date here, marred only by a strange incident that took place upon exiting. I am still giving this establishment four stars because the ambience, décor, and food were superb and I was very happy. At the insistence of the waiter we tried a bunch of things we usually wouldn’t go for. After dinner port wine and a pricey charcuterie plate we weren’t actually craving, etc. We also had a mid-range bottle of wine(delicious) and of course, two entrees. I believe our bill was $ 160 and after a truly lovely evening, we left our tip in cash($ 30.00). The waiter, who had been such a sweetheart all evening long completely changed after this took place and was super short/awkward. He didn’t even thank us nor wished us a good evening. I realize we only tipped him 19% but that is all we had in cash, unfortunately, and we like don’t like to tip on our cards. This was so bizarre to me, because he honestly acted like we left him two dollars in quarters. It completely tainted the experience and left a bitter taste(literally) in our mouths. Shame… Everything else was awesome.

What in the world. Bad news first, went on a Wednesday night and the service was slow. Not super busy. You’re not gonna get out in an hour. Once you get over that, the magic begins. The food was freakin’ fantastic. We had a table of 10. Yes, that could explain the slow service but it was still slow. Cordial but slow. Salmon chips, fried oysters, grilled octopus and jumbo lump crab stack were all ordered for apps. All excellent. Nice meaty octopus. I had the grouper. Then I saw shrimp on the description and they had me. It was basically shrimp and grits(minus pork and standard sauce) with a filet of grouper on top. Man it was good. The sauce was not a typical shrimp and grits sauce but still so good. Nicely cooked grits, shrimp done well, not overcooked and a tasty, firm but flaky grouper on top with a nice crispy skin. Others had the steak. Excellent. Pork shoulder. Excellent. Not dry or overcooked. Nice complement with a side of garlic greens. For dessert I had the fried peach pie. Tore it up. Normally limit my dessert intake but it was not overly greasy and the side of ice cream hit it. I’ve been eyeing this place for a while and glad I finally went. Several offerings not seen in the menu online. Take some time, relax, have a few drinks(btw their cocktails were pretty decent as well … some rye, bourbon cocktails mixed nicely) and enjoy some excellent food. There is a nice bar area and some decent draught beer offerings. Again, we were there on a Wed night and it wasn’t too loud. I’m sure it gets that way on busier nights. But that’s what you expect in almost every other restaurant in the city these days so if you want an intimate dining experience or conversation, it might not be for you … except when it’s loud you need to get closer to each other so really it can help create a nice experience!

i’m a big fan of Two Urban Licks, so I knew I’d be a fan of Serpas. I decided to check the restaurant out for brunch one Sunday. Though it was busy, I grabbed a spot at the bar and managed to enjoy my meal without having to wait. I was very happy to see my beloved salmon chips on the menu at Serpas. I also ordered biscuits, scrambled eggs, and grits. I couldn’t finish everything, but it was nice being able to sample a bit of each dish. The food, service, and ambiance were all great. Serpas will definitely be added to my restaurant rotation.

Serpas is a nice New American restaurant located in Atlanta’s industrial Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. The restaurant opened in January 2009 and is named after the chef and owner Scott Serpas. Serpas is pronounced like the word«surpass.» Chef Serpas has worked at many restaurants around the country including several in Atlanta such as the now-defunct Nava, under Kevin Rathbun, and Two Urban Licks. The restaurant is located at Studioplex, which is a converted industrial space near O4W’s Irwin Street Market. The interior feels like a big, open, studio-loft with vaulted ceilings and exposed brick walls and ductwork. There are Southern elements such as the wooden tables and settings, the pattern on the booth seating fabrics, and the dogwood wall portrait(at least, I think it’s a dogwood). The space is modern and clean. I like the contemporary cube-within-a-cube light fixtures. There are giant windows which allow sunlight to flood the dining room during the daytime. The view of the neighborhood is nice and you can peek at the downtown skyline. The most memorable aspect of the restaurant’s design is the communal sink outside the restrooms. The sink’s wall is decorated with a bunch of mannequin hands and wrists. Photo: . With the exception of Sunday brunch, Serpas is a dinner-only restaurant. I’ve only been at dinnertime where appetizers range in price from roughly $ 10 – 15 each and mains $ 25 – 30 each. The menu is subject to change due to the availability of seasonal ingredients. However, there seem to be a lot of mainstays on the menu such as the fried oysters and duck rolls. I’ve tried several different plates here and enjoyed every single one. Here’s a rundown: Apps: Flash Fried Oysters — pickled chiles, mirliton(Central American fruit) Crispy Duck Rolls — five-spice, sambal syrup Tomato PBR Steamed Mussels — garlic, shallots, herbs, butter, toasted focaccia Mains: Pan Roasted Rock Fish — GA shrimp, sunchokes(Jerusalem artichokes), Brussels sprout petals, heirloom tomatoes Trout(crab and mushroom stuffed) — lemon thyme butter, red bliss potatoes, asparagus Serrano Wrapped Carolina Quail — house-made sausage, cauliflower purée, heirloom rainbow carrots Angus Flat Iron Steak — pickled kohlrabi(German turnip-cabbage), crispy potatoes, English peas Desserts: Buttermilk Pecan Tart — vanilla glaze, Chantilly cream(sweetened & flavored whipped cream) Beignets — peanut butter cream, blueberry jelly Chocolate Nutella Cake — crème anglais, Chantilly cream It’s hard to go wrong with any of the above. The Flash Fried Oysters are slightly crispy, savory, and delectable. The oysters are served with mirliton, which is type of gourd fruit, similar to melon. It makes for an unexpectedly nice flavor combination. The Crispy Duck Rolls are excellent. These are essentially duck spring rolls. The five-spice seasoning and sambal sauce make it very much an Asian dish. The Tomato PBR(Pabst Blue Ribbon) Steamed Mussels are great. The mussels are served in a black cast-iron skillet, soaked in a deep orange-red tomato broth. The mussels are fresh and flavorful and the large slice of focaccia bread is there for you to soak up the wonderful broth. And you will want to sop up almost every last drop! The main entrees I’ve tried have been cooked/executed to near perfection. Both the Rock Fish and Trout have tasty skins with white, soft, meaty centers. The portion size of the Rock Fish is smaller than the Trout because the Rock Fish comes with shrimp. The Brussels sprout petals and heirloom tomatoes are a nice touch with the Rock Fish and the lemon thyme butter is just soaked into the Trout. The Carolina Quail comes with sausage, so there’s pork and bird on the same plate. Two pieces of sausage and two pieces of quail are served on this dish. The sausage is quite good and the quail even better, though a bit bony. The cauliflower purée is fantastic. The Flat Iron Steak is served sliced with a pink, tender, and juicy center. The meat is topped with several slices of pickled kohlrabi. Because the vegetable is pickled, it tastes kind of like apple. Like the apps and mains, it’s hard to go wrong with any of the desserts. I’ve found the Pecan Tart, Beignets, and Chocolate Nutella Cake to be equally enjoyable. It’s all in what you types of sweets you prefer. I like them all. The Pecan Tart is a classic Southern treat, which I loved to eat growing up. The fluffy Beignets harken back to chef Serpas’ New Orleans roots. The powdered sugar and light Chantilly cream make these desserts phenomenal. Dish presentation is outstanding all-around. Service is exemplary. The manager, Jeff, is accommodating and tries to make sure everyone is happy. Book reservations on OpenTable for free dining points. Complimentary on-site valet parking is available. You can also parallel park for free on nearby streets.

Thanks to SERPAS for taking such good care of me on my birthday! My wife made the dinner appointment for 7:30 which turned out to be the perfect time for us. At this hour, the restaurant was active but not crowded and it made for a nice, romantic, intimate dinner. If you’re looking for more action, it would probably be best to come in a little later. This was also a Thursday night so maybe that had something to do with it as well. One of SERPAS’ chefs warmly greeted us as soon as we walked in and we were shown to our table by the lovely hostess. Our waiter was quiet… not the bubbly, super friendly type, just quiet and reserved. But, he was efficient and attentive without being overbearing. He also got everything right, not one, single, mistake! It was a celebration of course, so we ordered a LOT of food! We started with two appetizers; our favorite: the salmon chips and a gigantic bowl of mussels that comes with a huge chunk of crusty, warm bread. Both were amazing! For our entrees, I ordered the filet of beef with crispy shrimp. It comes atop a bed of thinly sliced potatoes and sautéed mushrooms. Please believe me when I tell you, that beef MELTED in my mouth it was so tender. And the flavor?! Perfect! My wife ordered the crab-stuffed trout. It comes atop crispy potato chunks and swims in some type of creamy/tangy sauce. It was also very delicious, although I liked mine better. Usually, we’d share a dessert but, we were celebrating remember? :) So my wife ordered the crème brûlée which comes with blueberries and a nice biscotti on the side. She said it was the BEST crème brûlée she’d ever had. I, on the other hand, had been DREAMING of the Beignets for days before my birthday so I didn’t even need to look at the dessert menu. The beignets came out on a plate with a lit candle and the words«happy birthday» written in chocolate. So sweet! We also ordered several drinks: The EL Camino was one of my favorites, it tastes like a spicy margarita. Yum! Thanks again SERPAS for making my birthday special ! You continue to impress!

10 – 15 of us came for Sunday brunch without reservations. We waited around the hostess table for the staff to accommodate us. They seemed a bit frazzled but still managed to get all of us grouped together at nearby tables. They would not move any table to put us closer together but we were close enough. The waitress also said she would not split checks if our party is over 6 people. Since we were grouped separately, another waiter ended up splitting our checks, which was gracious of him. Our waiters were attentive with getting our waters, and eventually our orders. Food came relatively on time. Salmon chips. Fish wasn’t anything spectacular. They were quite generous with it and it was near impossible to eat it cleanly without it spilling all over the place. The one thing I did like about this were the garnishes(capers, little onions) that gave it a tartness and a different flavor. Chips are thin enough and strong enough to hold the shredded salmon. Fried oysters egg benedict. Fried oysters were good. It was mushy and savory inside. The best part of this was the creamed spinach on soggy biscuit. Yum! It came with potato chunks which were not flavorful enough for me. Beignets. Caution. This is ENORMOUS! It would be wise to share with at least one other person. It is light and fluffy and good, especially if you like sweets. I was disappointed by this place. It has a nice ambiance but food wasn’t impressive enough for me to come back.

A group of six adults and 1 child brunched here today. I’ve been here numerous times for dinner, over the years(see prior reviews) and so enjoyed the food and atmosphere, despite the fact that it is heavily child-friendly. So, considering the addition of a three year old to the equation, I selected this restaurant. This was a reasonably good choice, considering!!! However, I downgrade the restaurant to THREESTARS. It was incredibly noisy, the service was very spotty, some(most?) of the food(the egg dishes) arrived merely tepid(almost room temperature/cold). Is this any way to enjoy the normally good food??? I guess this is the new norm. We ordered two plates of the salmon chips, $ 14, which was an excellent way to start the brunch. I’ve had this for dinner, and we all enjoyed it! The vegetable egg omelet with crab, $ 17, was flavorful, and the julienne asparagus was the perfect texture(see photo). But, the dish was room temperature. The beignets(four to the order), were the only hot item served. It was delicious, as they were light and fluffy(see photo). Our server was sparse, and the coffee and water glasses needed constant refiling. For a party of six or more, they tack on an automatic 20% tip… not worth it today!!!

Had a pretty good experience here at Serpas True Food. It’s an industrial hipster look with an open kitchen, soft lighting, focus wall, paper menus, and your own glass bottle of water for the table(like most every other Atlanta restaurant setup these days). Started with the eggplant Hushpuppies which are eggplant filled and delicious. They were a little too salty which was the phrase of the evening. Everything was a little to too salty. My appetizer cocktail was some fancy gin, lavender syrup, bitters combination in 1920’s looking cocktail glass that was 10 bucks, but quite tasty. My vegan barley, mushroom, butternut squash dish they created for me was lovely, but… too salty. My dining parter for the evening order the stuffed chicken(poor chicken). Unfortunately, the chicken was raw in the center, and apparently… TOOSALTY! We quickly sent it back, and Chef Scott Serpas himself came over to the table to apologize for the dangerous oversight. Our server was attentive, mellow, and not overbearing. It was nice to have everyone helping each other out. When someone saw an empty plate or glass they would grab it instead of letting it sit there. The manger made sure to come over and ask us how our experience was. I would go back and tell them to hold the salt on everything. I doubt my dining partner would try it again. Be prepared to tip those hardworking valet guys! It was poring down rain, windy, and cold when we went; I felt so bad for them.
