I’ve never been to the actual bar but I’ve sat in the couches in the rest of it and watched football. It’s a pretty cool place with plenty of TVs. The place is actually in the lobby of the Atlanta Marriott. From the bar and restaurant you can see all of the hotel.

Located within the Marriot Marquis in downtown Atlanta, the Pulse bar is located on the 2nd floor next to the High Velocity restaurant. The hotel itself is gorgeous on the inside, so go just for the view if you wish. I’ve been here countless times. The bartenders do a phenomenal job at remembering names and faces, drink preferences, and are always friendly. Drinks are on the pricey side, $ 8 for a beer, and $ 8-$ 14 for a mixed drink. Don’t let that dissuade you if you’re out for a relaxing evening in an awesome atmosphere. A note on food. This isn’t your standard garbage grease-ball sliders or oil-dripping potato skin bar food. The food you order here comes from the High Velocity restaurant, and is damn tasty. I highly recommend the southwestern quesadillas and the 19-hour Carolina bbq chicken.

While staying at the Marriott Marquis we stumbled across this little spot to grab a drink. The bartender was extremely friendly. He charged our phones with no resistance(but then again that can just be a NYC thing) and even helped familiarize us with the various areas in ATL and the type of night life we can expect from each area. The bartender was very familiar with mixology and made the perfect drink for my friend and I. The menu alternates every few months with a different list of cocktails. I’ll be sure to keep that in mind if I decide to return.

To say the service was bad here would be an understatement. The bartender was more worried about his plans with a waitress after his shift than taking my order. Sat at the bar with a total of 6 other people for 12 mins before he acknowledged my presence. Bad service dominated the total experience. Food was what you can expect from a sports bar. Nothing imaginative or exceptional.

I’ve spent my DragonCon nights at Pulse Bar for the last four years, and they don’t disappoint. This year was no different, and the bartender even remembered my drink! This was a couple of hours AFTER I’d left Pulse to venture to the Hyatt and circled back. Impressive! Because I’ve only visited Pulse for DragonCon, that’s my only frame of reference, but that has to be one of their busiest, if not THE busiest, weekends of the year, and the bartenders have always been fast and polite. They are great. The Pulse location is perfect for people watching — located right at the top of the escalators means it’s prime for anyone coming and going. And the bar stools are comfy enough to relax on for a few hours.(My stool comment applies to past expereince as I did notice that for DragonCon 2014, those stools were absent!) I have a plan to visit Pulse Bar on a quieter weekend. The people watching may not be as good, but I know that the bartenders will be great.

Nice open area bar inside the Marriott Marquis, downtown Atlanta. I didn’t have to pay for my drinks so I really have nothing to complain about. Gets pretty crowded at night.

The location of this place is really nice. We parked in the garage and I think they validate parking. We came here late night just trying to get out of the house for drinks. It was bloody cold outside. I think on a warmer day it would be more crowded. It wasn’t that busy when we went. Sat at the bar. I think I had the crabcake slider… yummy. Drinks were delicious. Bartenders were pretty friendly with everyone who sat barside. If we were not driving, I would have loved to get another drink!

Great bar with friendly staff. The Bartender Kaffi is the best. He will take care of you… so tip him big.

We stayed at the Marriott Marquis over the weekend. Really cool hotel. Pulse bar was in the Atrium level. We caught the tail end of the Bulls vs. Nets game that they had projected. Neat experience. Slow service, but was busy.

Stopped by the lobby of the Marriott Marquis one evening while staying in Atlanta. Could not believe how much we had to pay for a glass of wine — I think it was $ 9.00. The appetizer prices were also very high — though it was a huge portion of hummus. Let me put it this way — we stayed in the hotel for almost a week and did not go back for another glass of wine.

Great place! They make Caipirinha; my favorite drink which most places do not even know about this cocktail.

Decent bar, great view friendly service. Prices are great. Closes at 1am. Great view as you down your drinks. Make a mean pomegrantie mojito.

This hotel is beautiful to say the least. The bar not so much. Open area bar near the lobby. Waited a good ten plus min to the bartender to come over to ask me for my order. He helped people that even came after me first??? So it loses big points there . Strong mixed drinks decent prices for hotels … Odds are I’ll never be back, worst service ever from a hotel.

The Pulse Bar looks really cool. I love to gaze up at the inside of the Marriott Marquis. But the many times we’ve had drinks at the Pulse Bar it’s been slammed packed. Okay, I understand it’s a bar and good bars are usually busy, but the Pulse Bar just has too few seats and too many people. They do offer more seating away from the bar. The bartenders have always provided excellent service. Next, I just don’t like the huge TV screen on the Pulse Bar. It really takes away from the look of the bar. The huge TV just looks out of place. We use the Pulse Bar as our first stop for our first drinks and then move on. On a positive note you can travel from this bar to Marta through sky walks. The Pulse Bar just doesn’t raise my pulse.

I went to check out this bar after reading the reviews and found it very disappointing. I will give 2 stars for impressive design and ambiance, but it was totally dead considering it was a Saturday night. I’m a recent transplant from New York City and I understand that nightlife may not be the same here in Atlanta, but I figured a hotel bar would be a safe bet… I was wrong. Me and my friend left the bar after 5 minutes. I guess I would go there if I was staying at the hotel, but otherwise, not worth it.

Very cool bar located in the Marriott Marquis. Love the vibrant lighting that changes and techno music that plays softly overhead. As I was waiting for others to arrive, I sat at the bar. The bartender working on this Friday night was friendly and efficient — taking the time to chat, but also keeping an eye on who needed refreshing. Once others arrived, we sat in the atrium area. Cool groupings of red lounge seating spaced far enough apart to give you privacy. I was drinking beer, but a couple of people ordered the martini sampler trees and I think this is a popular item as I saw many being served throughout the evening. Before we headed onto our next venue, we took the glass elevator up to the 47th floor. This elevator is super charged and between the speed and the height, my ears popped. We walked around the floor to take in the spectacular view of the inside of this hotel. They did an amazing job with the layout and color scheme. It is quite breathtaking. Pulse is definitely a cool place to meet up for the start of your evening if you are in the downtown area. Highly recommend it.

The architecture of the hotel that you get to see from Pulse is very cool and different. From the outside, it looks like a big bloated 70’s thing. From the inside, iIt’s like being in the belly of a whale. Only the whale serves cocktails and plays music and has great people watching. This is great for a small casual group. Maybe meeting some internet acquaintance that is in town on business. But don’t go here on a first date, and not with a very large group, as someone is going to be stuck on the ottomans after you rearrange the seating and they’ll feel it later.(Hi Randy!) Don’t worry, it’s comfy if you score a normal chair. The atrium is just stunning to look at, though, and that’s why you should check it out. The sail gives the place some color that changes a couple times a day(though I’m the minority in wishing they’d get rid of the big screen tv). And the music is very chill out and energizing at the same time, which I like, and needs to be imitated more. The best part, though, is the mini trio of martinis. Apple, mango, and pomegranate if memory serves, and memory may not serve because I had two trios of them. And though they call them mini martinis, they’re probably 4 oz each, when I was expecting 2.(Most bars serve 6 – 9 oz martinis, I think.) They’re served on this cute little metal tree thing.(Ok, after that many girly martinis, just about anything is cute.) Prices are hotel bar prices, not college bar prices. The service can be a little slow, but it’s a hotel bar, and they’re used to people who are killing time and have nowhere to go. I don’t recommend coming here if you’ve got time-sensitive plans for later, though that’s not likely, given that downtown ATL is kinda dead by the time you’ll be ready to leave.

Pulse really is in the coolest location… right in the middle of the huge open atrium of the Marriott Marquis downtown. If you’ve never been inside, it’s well worth a look – basically you look up and it’s as if you’re staring up into the rib cage of a dinosaur. So, Pulse is literally a bar in the middle of the atrium and they have the BEST mojito ever. It’s the Vanilla Orange Mojito. They have tons of cool little booths and seating arrangements perfect for small groups. Don’t worry guys, there are plenty of t.v.‘s as well.

Chic bar in a very chic hotel. The bartender was very sweet and funny. The clientele ranges since it’s a hotel bar. The huge tv and comfy seating was very very nice!
