2 stars since they were friendly. Food order was wrong on a $ 35 order… no napkins or condiments… awkward driveway and waiting area and hell getting out of this place. Dunkin Donuts across the street was a plus but this ain’t about donuts!

Popeye’s has reopened. On a particularly lazy night, I decided to get some. The line of cars was not very long, but it took an amazingly long time to get to the ordering screen. I don’t know whose issue it was customer– staff or customer. I went quite quickly, actually. The car in front of me must have a large order or an odd order — or Popeye’s was running low on certain items — cause they took forever getting their food. I even ended up turning my car off during my wait. Ridiculous. Took no time to get my food though. I ordered chicken tenders with fries, biscuit, drink. Result? My drink was low on ice as requested. However, I got sweet tea instead of diet coke. I got one sweet heat as requested, but the other sauce I got was honey mustard. I hate mustard. This was all discovered once I got home. So I called the store and they told me to just come back and they’d give me what I ordered. Of course, this meant my food was at home getting cold. :-(I waited in line and then got my correct items. The manager was quite apologetic. So that’s something. The chicken tenders are terrible. There were parts of the chicken that I had to spit out. These spots were waxy and did not taste like chicken. Yuck! After talking about this with my mom, she said she had the same experience. So avoid the chicken tenders! Get the real chicken.

This location was closed for like 6 months and reopened in October 2015. My first trip back was wasted. I just felt it would be better than before, but NOPE… the Boulevard Popeye’s had me sending out an email to corporate due to terrible service, wrong order and all over a terrible experience. I mean, COMEON already… you just re-opened with a new staff, refurbished building, etc and it still SUCKS? How hard can it be to hire some decent staff members, instead of the slang speaking, incompetent, rude so-called help you have? This Popeye’s is consistent. They consistently fuck up orders and treat their customers like crap ! Period. Go to the Popeye’s over on Moreland Ave. It’s a little farther out from our but it’s SOWORTH it!

I’ve driven by this Popeye’s a couple times over the last 1 – 2 months and noticed it was closed. Apparently, a fire in March caused it to shut down. I’m not sure if this popular location is ever re-opening. If it’s not, then consider this a posthumous review in memoriam. R.I.P. Boulevard Popeyes. You will be missed. Popeyes’ fried chicken is a guilty pleasure. I’m ashamed(?) to admit I’ve eaten at this Popeyes location on Boulevard on multiple occasions over years. It’s the closest one to where I live. No doubt are the chicken and biscuits delicious, but it’s hard to find much else to like here. Located near the corner of Boulevard and Ponce, it’s not exactly in the safest part of town(though there are far worse parts). It’s a great Popeyes in which to people watch, both from the clientele inside to the folks walking up and down the street outside. I’ve seen my fair share of sketchy dudes and cracked-out prostitutes just from dining in a couple times. I can’t say I’ve ever felt my personal safety seriously threatened here, but my friend’s parents got robbed at gunpoint in the Taco Bell parking lot one block away. Another friend had gunshots fired at his truck as he drove west on Ponce through the Boulevard intersection. His driver side mirror was shot out and the box in the back of his truck had bullet holes in it. I’ve also been approached by shady, sunglasses-at-night-wearing, gold chain sellers in the Krispy Kreme parking lot down the street. It’s a fun neighborhood. On my most recent(and perhaps last) visit in February, I picked up a «$ 5 Bonafide Big Box,» which reminds me of Taco Bell’s old Five Buck Box. Popeyes’ version came with two pieces of chicken(or three chicken tenders), two sides, and a biscuit. Not a bad deal. I opted for two pieces of spicy dark meat chicken. The chicken was fresh out the fryer with extra crispy skin. It was scrumptious(and greasy). The biscuit was soft, warm, and slightly flaky. The coleslaw was subpar(too tangy and just not appetizing) and the lifeless mashed potatoes were okay at best. Service was polite and efficient. The small restaurant wasn’t clean, though, as there were several uncleared tables.

Please note this location is currently shut down due to a fire. I’m hoping it will open soon because it’s the closest one to me.

You gotta love some Popeye’s. I don’t know if it’s the batter that makes their chicken extra crunchy or the spices they use, but this is chicken I crave. Add mashed potatoes with Cajun gravy and a soft steamy biscuit and you’ll be salivating. A couple of notes: They seem to use a lower grade/quality of chicken because it’s sometimes stringy and tough. Plus, you only get one side, compared to other places where two is the norm. Despite a reputation for poor service, I’ve always found it to be fine, unless there’s someone new at the counter which can muck things up.

Being the Popeye’s connoisseur that I am, I feel I am highly qualified to declare this the best Popeye’s location in ATL. They know how to cook chicken in the hood(I kid, I kid. I joke, I joke) but seriously, its some good ish!!!

I love popeyes chicken and drama. This place can combine those two things in a moment. Not every visit will have as good a show as I would like but when you get the right one your hooked. I would not take the kids though. The area can be a little rough and the best shows happen in the parking lot are not something u want see maybe. I have witnessed fights in the street, alleged prostitution and drugs, and then some of the nicest folks in the world work there.

Very tasty fried chicken and biscuits! I find Popeyes prices a little high for what you get, but it’s usually pretty good. I also especially like the slightly smoky red beans and rice.

This location is very consistent. Consistently awful. The drive thru is the worst. Most of the time they are out of at least one item that I want. My order is always incorrect. ALWAYS. It is a regular thing for them to leave out items as well. I’d take the time to check my order if I wasn’t afraid for my life. You don’t want to sit still for very long in this area. I have NEVER had a pleasant server either. I’m sticking to the Clairmont location from now on.

Service inside is great 90% of the time, but service through the drive thru is ok 10% of the time. Try getting the cashier to speak to you, I dare you!

Recommended by friends. I have to say, this is the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. I like the crispy style! Side isn’t that good, e.g., potato mash. And the shrimp isn’t fresh. But biscuit is delicious! If u like fried chicken, and not afraid of greasy, that’s the best choice.

It was ok. A chicken po boy combo was just enough for a lunch. Nice restaurant; iffy neighborhood at night.

Been twice in the last week. Fresh, hot, friendly and the order was correct… Love that Chicken at Popeyes ! To the whinny Liz if being adjacent to a gas station or sandwiched between low income housing and trendy O4W gentrification frightens you… Stay OTP with your chain stores, Quick Marts and KFC

At one point and time I was eating here waaayyyy to much. I love Popeyes! I was getting addicted so I had to cut back because we all know this type of food isn’t good for you. My meal is always fresh and I always receive good customer service.

I was talked in to going to Popeyes by some friends. I was told it wasn’t in a scary location(lies) I wouldn’t fear my safety(more lies) and I wouldn’t end up almost pooping my pants before leaving the parking lot(brown lies) I am what you call an adventurous restaurant kind of girl. I will try anything once. Most places that have a dingy outside normally has fantastic food inside and even though a place has a great Zagat review doesn’t mean it is the best. So, I gave Popeyes a shot. I figured the chicken finger basket with fries would be a safe bet. I was impressed they served peach tea so that was my beverage choice. I chose mild(focus on the fear of pooping my pants) and didn’t get the fried pie as a precaution. I managed to keep down 2 chicken fingers and at least 9 fries before I felt a rumble in the Bronx. Thank baby Jesus in the manger that I drive a convertible and work only 2 miles from this location. I’ve never driven so fast or yelled at more tranny prostitutes in my life. I thought for sure I was going to get arrested for running 2 red lights but I was literally seeing stars by the time I pulled in to the parking garage. Let me review be a warning. The chicken was good, fries were okay but the peach tea is like an instant enema. I mean come on, my stomach is strong enough to handle The Varsity and Churches but I crumbled with Popeyes! My stomach is clearly weak to Popeyes fury. Never again.

Anytime I’m anywhere near a Popeye’s, that’s pretty much going to be my next meal. …let’s just say it’s a real good thing I don’t live or commute very close to one. My heart, belts, and bed springs would hate me. But this is the location closest to me, and I occasionally make the drive over for some delicious, delicious chicken tenders, biscuit, and red beans and rice. YUM. I always get this particular combo. I’ve tried the Cajun fries, which are okay. The apple pie is good, too. I’ve never had a problem with the quality of the food or service(I’ve only ever used the drive-thru). In fact, the person at the window is always very pleasant. Sometimes they forget to ask if I want sauce with my tenders, but that’s not a huge deal. The tenders are so damn good, you don’t even need any sauce. Don’t mind the fact that it’s on Boulevard. It’s a little sketchy, but not scary. This is a solid choice to get your fix.

I don’t usually venture into fast food chain restaurants unless I’m at an airport, a thruway rest stop, or at a street festival in which there are no other viable bathroom alternatives. However, there are always exceptions, which in this case was the Stone Mountain Lasershow Spectacular. I was advised by multiple sources that fried chicken was the accessory of choice for most attendees, so I sought out to purchase a bucket of my own in an effort to assimilate with the laser-loving masses. In retrospect, I would have been better off investing in a mullet and a tank-top emblazoned with the Confederate flag. Food: Although I was somewhat let down to find that Popeye’s doesn’t serve their chicken in a bucket, the food here was surprisingly edible. I was tasked with feeding about a half dozen people, so I opted for a combo meal consisting of 12 pieces of chicken, 6 biscuits, and a heaping pile of Cajun battered fries and onion rings. Overall, the food wasn’t necessarily the epitome of culinary ingenuity — however, for the price point, it was perfectly acceptable. Service: Friendly, but mildly disturbing. During my visit, the man who took my order mumbled so bad that I couldn’t understand a word that was coming out of his mouth. In fact, the ordering process was so drawn out that I actually felt compelled to internally congratulate myself once it was finished. However, my victory was short lived. A creature from within the bowels of the kitchen suddenly let out a shriek so piercing that it would give a Greek Harpy a run for its money: «We ain’t got no mild». The manager then translated the message to the patrons — apparently there was no mild chicken left and we would have to settle for spicy. I joked with the manager that they should change their name to just«Popeye’s Biscuits», which she didn’t find even remotely amusing. Atmosphere: Aside from the paranoid schizophrenic mumbling to himself in the corner, the homeless man pilfering sporks from the condiment counter, and the tranny hooker standing outside the entrance who gave me the stink eye, the ambience at this place is fairly consistent with what you’d expect from a fast food restaurant. Ample indoor seating is available and the dining room was surprisingly clean. Cost: Inexpensive. I was able to feed a half dozen people for less than $ 20, which is an incredible feat in Atlanta, even for a fast food joint. Other: This particular Popeye’s is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Credit cards are accepted. The restaurant also has a drive-thru — however, I would highly recommend venturing inside to ensure that you receive the full experience that is the Boulevard Popeye’s.

Ok, I try not to eat too much fried chicken, but when I have a craving, I usually come here. The good: The chicken is always tasty(when it’s hot) Hmm, that’s about it for the good. I am usually satisfied, but sometimes the rice in the cajun rice is terribly overcooked, and the fries might be a little cool to the touch. But hey, the location is convenient. It is hard getting in and out of the store though, depending on which direction you are coming from, and which direction you are going once you leave. Oh yeah, and the staff… what can I say about them? Usually there are 8 – 10 people standing around behind the counter. Odd it seems to me, because it can’t possibly take that many people to fry chicken and serve it to patrons, but there you have it. It’s best to go during off hours. Keep a close eye at what looks fresh, and what is cooking. Those facts should govern what you order. It’s better to go during off hours. So never during 4 – 7 pm on weekdays, and you’re a fool to hit them up on Sunday afternoons after church. This Popeye’s floats entirely on their proprietary chicken recipe. Don’t expect much else from them.

There’s nothing like the anticipation of some breasts, thighs, and legs to make your morning fly by! After some more than disappointing soul food and sweet tea at Home grown yesterday, Popeye’s was the perfect place to satisfy our deep-fried needs. The spicy chicken was nice and hot(like always), but they were out of white meat when we arrived around 12noon. Sides were great, with my dining companions enjoying their red beans and rice and dirty rice respectively, but I think I definitely came out ahead with my pile of straight out of the deep fryer onion rings. I really wish I hadn’t given up Diet Coke, because it’s a self-serve unlimited refill fountain here, something that’s hard to find in this part of town. A basic combo will set you back a little over $ 6, and this is enough food to keep you in a food coma for the rest of the afternoon, silently wishing that you could curl up under your desk and take a nap.
