Terrible Service and the food is sub par. We waited for a server forever to pay attention to us and the place was less than 20% crowded. All of the staff I encountered to observed had attitude. NOT Recommended.

Aces food has been consistently good since I first went here 3 years ago. The only issue I’ve had with Aces is how slow everything seemed to run. However the food the prices and the service have all been good and friendly. This is a place you come to have trivia, relax and enjoy your friends, not a place for a quick bite. Last night was my first time at Aces Cinco de Moustache trivia night, and it was hilarious! All mustache themed trivia questions, a Ron Jeremy look a like contest, and then a suggestive piñata! Such a good time! If you embrace what Aces is all about, relaxed simple but good bar food in a low key atmosphere, you will really enjoy it. If you expect it to be something it’s not, you will leave disappointed.

Mmmm just the thought of the jalapeño avocado black bean burger I got from here makes my mouth water! I’ve been frequenting this place a lot lately. I’m usually a spectator on trivia night(Thursday @8pm) and they let me watch their free cable and change it to any channel I like(treat me like a princess). The food here is delicious! I went in expecting run down bar food but I must say that everything is always fresh and they even have great fries! I’ve had the fried grouper(yummy), chicken wings(yum), and the oyster po-boy which was a Mardi Gras special(mm mm yummy!). The costumer service is great too. Everyone is pretty chill but they make sure you are taken care of without over crowding/annoying you(the way I like it). It is a bit dim which gives it a cold look but it doesn’t really bother me, just thought I’d share. The prices are reasonable and the food & service is good. What more could I ask for?

Great comfort food, Decent beer list. Always REALLY smokey. You don’t have to ban smoking, but how about an exhaust fan or something?

My friends and I attended a Birthday gathering at Aces on Saturday night, assuming the hostess had rented out the entire bar, since the dark space was relatively empty, except for the rousing game of celebratory Bingo taking place in the corner. I think Aces is a cool bar and don’t understand why it wasn’t packed out during the prime libation hours. Perhaps it has to do with the neighborhood. The bartender was friendly and helpful, mixing me a couple drinks with the ingredients I requested: a shot of Tuaca with a hint of lemon and a yummy Chambord concoction involving pineapple juice. Both beverages enhanced the conversation – although the intellectual stimulation, as always, heavily relied on talking to smart people as opposed to duds.

This is my neighborhood bar. So, obviously, I go there — a lot. It’s very laid back, has a good beer selection, very decent food and great service. I’m a smoker so that makes it more attractive to me. Rarely crowded — And Trivia night on Thursdays at 8:00 is tons of fun.

I have to admit that I really liked Ace’s on my first visit, even though I was super pissed that they hadn’t updated their website to reflect the change in trivia night. Grr. The bartendress that I encountered that evening was super friendly and I just kind of liked the vibe of the place, so I was looking forward to a return visit. When the time came for What What in the Butt to show Kirkwood our stuff, I arrived pretty early(around 6:30) to secure a table. I was promptly greeted by David, our fantastic server for the evening, and he didn’t flinch when I just ordered a water. I know, I KNOW. Me?! Ordering a water?! Blasphemy! But I’ve been feeling kind of sick and lots of fat so I decided to dial it down, for one night only! David explained that they were doing some menu changes, so the kitchen was out of some ingredients and a few of the draft beers were out. I ordered the chicken cobb salad with a balsamic dressing and it was quite delightful. The chicken was grilled and came out still steaming and was very flavorful. The dressing was great, but I was confused by the guacamole-like serving of avocados. Rather than the sliced or chopped fresh avocado one expects on a cobb salad, they just served it all whipped up in a little plastic cup. Weird. The trivia guy was a little late but once he arrived things moved pretty quickly. He seemed a bit disorganized at times, but all in all was lighthearted and didn’t mind heckling the crowd a bit… and we could heckle back. It’s typical Team Trivia format, with a pretty wide range of questions. I just wish my team would have trusted my smarts a little more(cough! cough!), but regardless we reigned victorious. It seemed like David had the entire place on his own, but he did a great job checking in with us and getting us the many beverages we desired. As he’s the second über-friendly staffmember I’ve experienced here, I’d say that this is the kind of bar I’d love to have in my neighborhood. With the good food and incredibly friendly service, I’d certainly be a regular. Trivia is on Thursday nights at 8pm, prizes are $ 30, $ 20, and $ 10 house cash. Oh, and they have waffle fries. Hell yes.

This is a laid back neighborhood spot that I went to pretty much exclusively for the pinball. The bartender and bar flys were all very friendly, though there were also some individuals near the door seemingly homeless or at least transportationally challenged just kinda hanging out which was a little off-putting. The taps had a good variety of ecletic imports and micro-brews. Their website lists a Pinball Brawl on Tuesdays and Trivia/Karaōke on Wednesdays. I was there on a Wednesday and there was neither and I was informed that the Pinball Brawl hadn’t happened for over a year. Atlanta Pinball Review as of 3÷26÷09 — Family Guy by Stern. This is a fun, though pretty common machine. Flippers were in good shape. One of the best parts of this game is the TV Mode, though the ‘Lois’ spinner is not working so it’s virtually impossible to activate this short of visiting the Drunken Clam.

Ace’s is my neighborhood bar. It’s great to be able to walk there and enjoy friendly service from the handful of great servers who work there. It’s perfect for a lazy afternoon or early evening. The food is good and the drink selection is good and cheap. We dig. I would give it a 5, but I have become old womanish in my habits and am starting to think that the clientele smokes too much and the music is too loud.

Like a previous reviewer stated, this place reminds me of a rockabilly bar. The staff are all nice, and they always have something cool going on, like Oktoberfest where they are out front grilling brats, or even low country boils. And alot of times, the specials are free if you are buying drinks! The food here is pretty good too! Go! Please! Support local Kirkwood businesses.

I haven’t ever eaten at Ace’s, so I am reviewing drinks/staff/location only. Ace’s has a nice neighborhood feel, with a staff that is friendly and helpful. They have a good selection of beers on tap(I think around ten or twelve of them). Last night I was drinking liquor, and they had Absolut Pear, which I love. I’ve played board games there before, they have a couple behind the bar. They have trivia on Thursdays, starting in the middle of June. The place is a little too dark for me, maybe if the color scheme was something different that deep red and black it wouldn’t seem so gloomy. I will admit one of the reasons I like it here is because they allow smoking indoors. Just be warned if you don’t want to be in a smoking environment… this also means you have to be 21 to get in, so no bringing the kids for lunch. Looking over the menu, it looked to be standard bar food, but the burgers that went by looked really good.

Nice place with decent beer selection and surprisingly great food. Even though they’re trying to pull off a certain vibe, the music is often too loud. It’s almost never crowded though, which is nice.

A very cool bar with a Rockabilly feel. Make sure to dress in all black because you almost feel like Johnny Cash when you walk in the place. It in an up and coming area of town and is a great place to drink a few cool ones!
