Intown Primary Care

I’ve been going here for years and it’s just slowly declined. They have gotten too busy for quality care. They aren’t reliable in returning phone calls and it’s hard to get an appointment. And through 3 years of being a patient there I’ve only once actually seen Dr. Parry. I will say though that he did waive my copay one day and the front desk was apologetic with my concerns. Maybe they are trying to turn things around. Again I think they may just be too busy but I’m hopeful the new location will help.

This place used to be decent. Now I will not only advise you go somewhere else. I’m shouting at the top of my internet lungs to avoid this place at all costs. And boy do I mean costs. All they care about is money now days. They do not care about you or your health. Can you actually get them to pick up the phone? It took me over a month to actually get someone to answer the phone. Since I couldn’t get anyone to answer the phone, I had to drive down and request to talk to someone about my results. Yep, they charged me for that visit.
The office administration is not professional; Such a bad experience if you actually need them to do more than a regular checkup. They never answer the phone, and never get back with you. If you go here for any type of treatment, blood test or anything… they will not follow up with you and explain your results. Literally you will sit and wait for weeks and hear nothing back. And that’s how it will go, because you can’t call them.
Finally got my results back, and took their prescription to the pharmacy. The pharmacist told me their recommendation was not even for me. They recommended I take a female prescription for something completely unrelated. This was the final draw for me. I will NOT be going here ever again. 5 trips was enough for me.
Note: You will never actually get to see Dr. Scott Parry. Instead you will be passed off to one of his assistants.

Michelle and Scott have both been great. Intown has always come through for me in a pinch when an emergency comes up. They are timely in the office and get me in and out of my annual with a ton of blood tests and everything in a jiffy. I also really like their non-​judgemental attitude and approach to medicine. Highly recommend, and right off the Beltline!

I enjoy going to see Dr. Parry. He’s always so nice and informative. I’ve gotten to see him almost every time that I’ve been there so, I don’t know why the other posts are saying that they never see him. Yeah, he’s busy, that means he’s doing his job. The nurse practitioners are just as knowledgeable and have a wonderful bedside manner. By all means make an appt if you need a great doctor.

It was my first time there for an annual and well woman visit. I came here because Dr. Parry was listed as being in-​network with my insurance plan and had supposedly received relatively high reviews online. I came early to fill out paperwork and the wait time was over 30 minutes in the waiting area and then in the room even though there were no other patients in the office. (Which I found strange for a PCP’s office) When Dr. Parry came into the room, he didn’t even take a history (I was a new patient) and rushed through the whole exam, not allowing me to talk and informing me that if I wanted to address any specific concerns, I’d have to make further appointments. When the phlebotomist came to draw my blood for labs – he missed several important labs we had discussed earlier. I suffer from high cholesterol, but have normal triglycerides, yet he prescribed a medication solely for elevated triglycerides. He prescribed me a high dose of Vit D, but did not draw labs for a Vit D level. It took weeks to get the results back from the labs on the patient portal after calling the front desk numerous times. I received a bill from the lab with charges of almost $ 2,000 for extremely specialized and an unecessary quantity of labs he had ordered for my annual without informing me or without my consent. I thought I was only getting a PAP test. Their billing department never answered or returned my mesages either. Very disatisfied with the dishonesty and lack of quality of care I have received. I will not be be returning or referring anyone there.

I have been going to Intown Primary Care for about a year now. I’ll start with the good.
Pros:
–The clinical staff are all very helpful and friendly. Michelle is absolutely wonderful and is one of the best NPs I have ever seen. She is super helpful and provides excellent recommendations and health advice. She never tries to rush the appointment and you can tell that she truly cares about the health and wellbeing of her patients.
–The building is super trendy and the actual location is hard to beat. It is a relaxing environment with nice music playing instead of a tv and old magazines laying around. The parking is a little tricky — they have their own spaces and I’ve never had trouble, but it can just be a little tight.
–The wait is about average — 10 – 20 minutes or so.
Cons:
–The only con that I have is the front desk staff. This place would have a solid five stars if it weren’t for them. They are very rude, unprofessional, and dismissive over the phone and in person. They are incredibly short and seem inconvenienced every time you speak to them — even when checking in for an appointment. It’s come to the point where I don’t even feel comfortable calling the office. On my first visit, I actually thought about turning around and leaving because of them. It is a shame because everything else about this place is exactly what anyone looks for in a primary care facility.

Very nice atmosphere and extremely kind reception. The PA I worked with was amazing. They seem very modern and more millennial oriented than some other doctor’s offices. I waited less than 10 minutes before being seen and was out the door in 20. They accept a lot of insurance and also have many great things for LGBT people. I was recommended by a friend, and I will pass the recommendation on to anyone looking for quality service at a great location.

Poor customer service in the front. No respect for your time. I am always on time. I pay my bill on time with out any trouble. I wish they could treat me the same way. I feel like they have no respect for my time. I called at 9 am to check on my prescription the front desk said it was not ready but it should be ready by 1 pm. I called at noon to check she said it’s not ready but will give it to them to write it up and it should be ready by 1pm. I come in at 1pm and it’s not ready and the doctors are at lunch. So I need to wait 45 min and hope they get back from lunch before I have to be back at work.

Dr. Parry is by far the best doctor I’ve ever seen. He always listens to me and asks my opinion on my medical care instead of just throwing his own ideas out there and not allowing me any input.
Everyone at this practice is great! If there were more than 5 stars to choose from, I’d go for it!

I am less than thrilled with the service I received from several women at the front desk. Their attitudes were extremely unprofessional and rude. I would recommend they receive training in customer service and business ethics. Aside from the unpleasant experience dealing with them, Dr. Parry seems very friendly, and the nurse was excellent. My advice: fire the women behind the front desk and find someone else who will interact with customers more professionally and with less of an attitude like everyone owes her something.

Very convenient, great doctor and staff. Appoints are easy to make and walk-​ins are welcome.
I’ve always felt comfortable discussing all situations.

I’ve been a patient of Dr Parry for five years. Great doctor that has lost his touch with his patients. I recently had two matters which we totally mishandled by his office. You never get to see him, he’s too busy to meet or talk to patients. Again, great doctor but out of touch. I wish him well.

Great place. The best doc and staff I have ever been to. They make you feel very comfortable and the office doesn’t at all feel like a traditional doctor’s office. I would recommend to anyone!

Twice they left me sitting in room for an hour. Office doesn’t value peoples time at all. Tries to pawn off nurse practitioner and say the doctor is too busy to meet with you. Even after made appointments specifically with the doctor (over 2 months earlier).

Based on my three experienced with this office, I would not recommend Dr Parry or anyone else at this office to you. I’d like to know what is so different about me that I got such lousy treatment and yet this page is filled with glowing reviews for them.
Dr Parry came highly recommended to me by a friend and seeing as I was having trouble finding a primary care physician, I decided to give this office a try. I have been to see Dr Parry three times now, and I have to say that I am entirely underwhelmed by the level of «service» I received. From the front desk staff who seem to be inconvenienced by the mere fact that someone has walked up to the counter or that a phone is ringing, to the long wait in the waiting area, to the long wait in the exam room before someone finally comes in. I just wasn’t happy about how I was made to feel like a valuable customer for this office.
My first experience was to get a physical and to see if I wanted to make him my primary care giver. After waiting nearly an hour in the lobby. (I had an appointment, why the long wait?) I was taken to an exam room where I waited nearly 30 minutes more before Dr Parry came in. I felt that he wasn’t very focused on my exam and that he was rushing though it. I was given the chance to bring up any issues I may have been having, but I thought that I could go over them after the physical. He then started to leave. I asked him about the physical I had come in for, and was told that I had to schedule an appointment for one. After telling him that I did and that was why I was in the office, he said that his appointment staff didn’t set it up that way and he didn’t have time to do one at that time. I was so flabbergasted that I couldn’t respond fast enough to say anything before he walked out the door.
I talked to my friend about it and he assured me that it was a fluke. I decided to give him another chance. I made a second appointment for a physical. Again, a long wait in the lobby and about 10 to 15 minuted in the exam room. He came in and listen to my heart and my lungs asked a few questions and was gone again before I even realized the the exam was over. Someone came and took my blood and that was the extent of my physical. No one ever called to give me results and when I called to ask about them I was told to «check the web site». Fine, but that doesn’t explain a damned thing to me. I am not trained in medical matters and do not know how to read the results.
My third, and last, visit was not an appointment, but as a walk in due to an illness. (I could not wait the three weeks for an appointment) Even though there was nobody in the waiting room when I came in, I still ended up waiting almost an hour and a half total before being seen. I didn’t see Dr Parry that time, but his PA. A pleasant woman whose name I cannot for the life of me remember. She asked questions and allowed me the chance to ask questions of my own. She discussed my ailment and what the meds were supposed to do. She then said she would call in the prescription for me so they would be ready when I got there to pick them up. «Great!» I thought. Finally someone who knows how to do something for their patient besides look at a chart and make a few notes. I get to the pharmacy, and they could not fill my prescription as the person who faxed it in did not give dosage strengths and when they tried to call and get that information, it was going to the answering service. Messages had been left but a return call was not being made. After waiting almost two more hours for a call that never came, I called myself and jumped all over them until they agreed to call the on call physician (I never found out who that was) and the issue was resolved about 40 minutes later. The reason why I was so upset about no one answering was because this was all before 5PM. The automated answer message stated that office hours were until 6pm. Did everyone pack up and leave right after I was seen?

Great primary care doctor and they do women’s wellness too!
If you have to be sick this is the place to do it. I love the waiting room. It’s nice that they play jazz and don’t have some nasty tv playing. Only downside is they let people talk on their cell phones in the waiting area. This one chick was on the phone speaking loudly my whole wait. Not taking off a star though as I love this place. Just making a suggestion no cell phone talking in lobby would be great!
I’ve been sick for awhile and woke up this morning even more sick. I called the doctor and was told to just come in without an appointment. This worked out ok as I was there well before the two people who showed up with appointments — but in the future I will make an appointment so as not to be kept waiting too long.
Waiting area is nice with fresh magazines. Examine rooms are clean. Tables are new. I don’t know whether they changed the walls, but I couldn’t hear any of the doctor talking to the patients like I could last time.
I’ll definitely be back glad I found a great doctor in Midtown!

Dr. Parry is the man! Great doctor, great staff, convenient location. They also have a great plan if you find yourself between insurance plans. Love Intown!

I LOVE Intown Primary Care! Dr. Parry is seriously the best doctor I have ever been a patient for and I’m not just saying that because he has really nice biceps. By the way, he has really nice biceps. Dr. Parry takes the time to always listen to his patients and tries his best to come to a solution. Yay, results!
I will warn you that when you call the office, you will hear an «Intown Primary Care, Please Hold.» Most of times you will be waiting for a long time. This used to bug me until I realized how busy they were. Also, the receptionists are all great for talking to about relationship advice. They LOVE hearing about my new adventures with David K. Wait, I am not sure how David K. feels about me talking to strangers about him? Oh well.
As far as insurance goes, I use to have Blue Cross Blue Shield and eventually switched employers but knew that I did not want to switch doctors. Dr. Parry worked with me to make sure my new insurance coverage (Aetna) worked with him. Great guy, great place!

I thought I should update my review since Danielle has long replaced Lindsay as Dr. Parry’s super, terrific, awesome Nurse Practitioner. It’s kinda unfair to compare them just because they have the same title (and I enjoyed being examined by both), so I’ll just say that I like Danielle a lot. She has a great personality and that makes it easy to talk to her about stuff.
Also, Danielle is really helpful about giving me information about my vitals. They always take my weight, temperature, and blood pressure. Aside from a few times when the person taking it said my pressure was high, I have no idea what those numbers mean. To be honest, I still don’t, but I guess that’s probably because they’re not at levels that I should worry about… yet. Today I came in for a 6-​month check up. Even though it was a quick visit, Danielle took the time to go through everything to let me know that I was doing fine.
In between my visits the staff here is super helpful whenever I need a prescription refill. They’re efficient and if there is ever a delay it’s usually a pharmacy problem. If anything else comes up they always give me a call. Actually, Dr. Parry will usually make the call personally, which is great in case I have any questions.
I always appreciate the fact that I can walk in without an appointment and still be seen relatively quickly without any problems. They’re AWESOME about working you in to see someone (although I’m sure scheduling an appointment would be preferred).
I also appreciate Dr. Parry’s support of the community. Intown Primary Care has been a sponsor of Joining Hearts for the last few years and his generosity allows the benefactor charities to continue doing good things in our neighborhood.

Dr. Parry has been my doctor since I met him at Pride in Atlanta many years ago. I don’t see a doctor because he is gay or straight. I see a doctor because he is a good doctor. Dr. Parry is a good doctor. I have never had an issue with him. He will spend as much or as little time with you as you want, and he will explain things to you that you do not understand.
One special thing that I like about Dr. Parry is his medical staff. When I make an appointment, I don’t feel a need to see Dr. Parry specifically. I’m happy to see his Nurse Practitioners (we need more!) and even the med students he selects.
I trust him with everything.
Today, I used his Web site to ask him to write a certificate for me to say I am healthy enough to run a race in Paris (Go figure, They need those in some European places). He got back to me in a few hours to tell me he would do that.
Very responsive and I highly recommend him. I won’t be changing doctors anytime soon.
