Let me start by saying Becky is a fabulous server and she made our experience super enjoyable. Atmosphere and service get five stars all the way. But let’s be honest, when paying ~$ 50 per person you want good, if not great, food. The shrimp cocktail was delicious! Sriracha cocktail sauce is a delight to the tastebuds. Then came the entrée. It’s downhill from here folks. The steak Oscar(famous!!!) was pretty underwhelming. The potatoes were cold and the asparagus was limp. These are things I can endure, especially since I didn’t complain. They were tepid yet tolerable. Dessert was the final straw. We ordered the«Bailey’s Irish Cream Chocolate Chip Cheesecake.» It was beyond gross. Once we removed the odd instant coffee filled fluff from the top, it was edible, but if you’re going to have coffee in it, maybe mention it. No? I would totally come here again for Becky and shrimp cocktails.

A $ 40 filet should not be tough. Was here on NYE and the food was not good. At $ 100 per person you want good food, I brought my friends and was embarrassed by the food.

THEWORSTSERVICE I HAVEEVERWITNESSED. MEAGAN was our waiter she was extremely rude and brought in the entrees an HOUR late and then brought the appetizers 30 min after. When we asked where the appetizers were she asked«do you want me to cancel them.» No, we didn’t want to cancel we wanted the appetizers decades ago. Then my steak and my friends steak were rare when we asked for medium and medium rare and had to be sent back. After 2 hours of waiting for the bill we asked for the manager, she never apologized, she talked back to me after saying the service was bad. The bill was overcharged twice! The manager failed to give any sympathy. I WILLNEVERCOMEHEREAGAINANDNEITHERSHOULDYOU.

Heard great things but it really was just ok, but there are a few other restaurants within a block that are really great. This is the kind of place you go because it’s been there for years but it feels like it’s been upstaged by competition nearby. I asked for medium well but got medium rare. The portions were small which may be good for my waist line but poor customer service. Won’t be back.

We’ve been coming here for years. It’s had it’s ups and downs over the years, but right now the food seems to be really great. Good menu. The baby back ribs were some of the best I’ve ever had.

Never been here on a weekend but on a weekday it is a nice intimate spot that is relaxed. Tuesdays they have their $ 6.50 burger specials(choose the onion rings they are crisp and homemade). They have one bartender that is very attentive and has been there for years. Relax enjoy, you are in good hands. Update, they make the best martinis.

David S was our waiters. First thing as he was getting the paper menus he licked his fingers to separate them. NASTY! Then he coughed and hack several time as he took our orders. They had chilled water in neat crafts that he spilt as he was pouring of my glass. Never wiping it up. I did with my cloth napkin. The Au gratin potatoes were awful, hardly any cheese and has to much seasoning. The best part was the prime rib, very good.

One of the better bars in Virginia Highlands. The food is excellent, especially the burger. Its unique«bunker-like» ambience downstairs is a huge plus — if only for being totally different. The bartenders are friendly, the drinks are good, and the prices are reasonable. Highland Tap continues to be a staple in Virginia Highlands and is worthy of a visit!

Let me say up front that I am basing this review on the two items that I order every time I come to the Tap: a Bombay Sapphire martini with blue cheese stuffed olives, and the steak oscar, a 4oz filet medallion topped with crab meat and bearnaise sauce, served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. This is pretty much the perfect meal, so I don’t feel obligated to try anything else. The steak is always perfectly cooked, and the combination of steak, crab, and bearnaise just delicious. The expertly prepared martini comes with a little glass flask on ice containing more martini, so in the end you actually wind up drinking two expertly prepared martinis, and hence have a nice buzz. Descend down the ambiguously shabby stairs from Highland Ave to the dimly lit cellar with exposed brick and a heavy, dark wood bar and feel instantly 20% cooler for coming here instead one of the many crappy bars in VaHi.

We have been coming here for 20 years, and we live over 30 miles away outside of Lawrenceville, with plenty of other choices. It started as a place to stop and have dinner after getting into Hartsfield around rush hour until traffic died down, and became a favorite haunt! It’s clubby atmosphere, friendly crowd, off the street basement location is a great cool break on a hot summer night in Hotlanta. An old favorite of mine is a Beefeater(now Sapphire) extra dry martini on the rocks with a twist, which they serve to perfection with a chilled & filled martini carafe on the side — wonderful! Call it old school, but it brings back precious memories from a different time & place. Just recently had their prime rib, 16 oz. if I’m not mistaken. I’m getting older and can’t eat the whole thing(usually) but my medium rare and my wife’s medium were done perfectly, and tender.(One I had at Outback, by comparison, within the last 6 months, was tough by comparison, although pricing was similar, but Outback also doesn’t serve the martini with a carafe on the side, so a much smaller pour as well.) Have had many of Highland Tap’s entrees — never a bad one. Service has been consistently good, although it may be a little slow when they are busy, which is typical at 8 – 10:00PM of a Friday night, when the bar crowd is packed in. For dinner, be sure to have a reservation on important days. We got there on Valentine’s Day night at about 8:30ish on a Hartsfield flight return with no reservation and they had no table available for then next couple hours, so we went elsewhere. Other times, when there were no booths or tables available in the dining areas, there are tables in the bar which are noisier(they get a rowdy fun crowd) but the food is just as consistently good. As for accompaniments, we’ve tried the Oscar, Bernaise, Hollandaise, mushrooms, asparagus, and they’re all top notch, but the horseradish sauce that comes with it is my favorite. Maybe I’m just a fan of a good sinus clearing horseradish flavor! The French onion soup is a must for starters. We highly recommend this spot, and our out-of-town friends we have taken there(typically when we have picked them up at Hartsfield and on the return home) have all agreed that this is a spot not to miss, even at the expense of trying another fine restaurant in the city. It’s consistent, unpretentious, friendly, and reasonable. If you don’t have a drink, and are there for lunch, it’s a $$; if you want dinner with cocktails, expect $$$($$$$ — more than 2 martinis… make sure you have a driver!). There is free valet parking in back to boot, although I always give a tip to the attendant.

Where do I begin! The atmosphere, the history, the smell and that was just walking in the door. The drinks are strong and worth the money, the shrimp cocktail and calamari are amazing. Then you move to the steaks. Nothing is better than a hand cut thick steak cooked over open fire! It was the best steak I’ve had in Atlanta. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone living in or around the city as well as visitors from other cities. It sums up Atlanta’s old southern charm and the new Atlanta all in one place!

If you want a great burger and a local draft beer the Highland Tap is the place to go. Tucked away in the basement it’s easy to miss… keep looking, it’s worth the search.

An Atlanta staple, we just love Highland Tap. The food is consistently good and has a very comfortable vibe. Typically, i get their ribeye steak, which reminds me of summertime all year long. Last night, i ordered their red snapper special, which was served over a jalapeño potato cake. Yes, I know it sounds amazing. And it was. Every time we go there, it seems the conversation is better. I think it’s because we’re comfortable, the servers are great and its near where we live. Its a no-frills steakhouse with an awesome bar and convenient location. What more do you want?

We went here for drinks on 1÷23÷15 and it was my first time at Highland Tap. The bar service was fine and there was a large selection of drinks. The reason for my one star review is simple — MOUSE. People were coming in and out of a door that led to the back of the restaurant, and when some people opened the door to come in(or maybe go out, I can’t remember), a mouse ran into the restaurant. Girls shrieked and boys jumped into action and kicked the mouse back out the door. The restaurant needs to limit people coming in and out of this door, as it leads directly to the back alley behind all of the restaurants and bars in this shopping strip. No wonder the mouse came inside. I, however, will not be returning to this establishment ever again.

This place was on the top ten list for Creative Loafing’s best burger in Atlanta. My boyfriend and I had to come in and try it for ourselves. This place is downstairs, so all you see is the sign if you walk by it. FYI– they do have parking int he back. We didn’t know so we parked far far away, oh well. We started with the muscles as an appetizer. They are pretty good, nice and garlicky & it comes with 2 big hunks of garlic bread for dipping. Between the 3 of us, we had plenty. Our burger: it was great. Wasn’t my favorite ever but we liked it. **it’s $ 11($½ off on Tuesdays so $ 5.5) but careful because if the waitress asks if you want cheese, jalapenos or bacon on it. It’s $ 2 extra per. She didn’t tell us it was extra so they lost a star for that. You gotta be honest from the beginning, they also forgot to add the bacon to my boyfriends burger and charged it on our bill. He got ½ fries and ½ onion rings as a side. I got mac and cheese. The sides are awesome, you could also get a loaded potato, asparagus or spinach and a few other options as sides. A few dining mistakes won’t ruin my meal so they get 3 stars for the overall dining experience. My friend got the prime rib sandwich. He ate every last bit so I know he liked it. He got fries with it. We like that the fries are big, crispy and made just right. Props for that! For dessert we got carrot cake. My friend said it was the best he’d had in a while. I’m a carrot cake snob, It was decent. Nice tall slice with fresh cream cheese icing. Yes, we will be back. Especially now that we know all burgers are ½ off on Tuesdays. You can’t beat that in this part of town.

I thought this place was ok! I liked their cocktail! They did not have a GREAT wine list for being a steakhouse but the wine I did have was really good! We started with the special clam chowder. It was uneventful. I like nice big chunks of clams this was tiny and minced. It was not pipping hot, but it was fine. For my meal I got the steak Oscar cooked medium. It was cooked rare… now I DON’T mind my steak being under cooked I would prefer that rather than it being over cooked but it was pretty rare. The thing with the steaks though is that they had this weird taste to it and when I tasted my friends Gorgonzola steak it had the same flavor so it must be how they are cooking it. Tasted like salmon that was cooked on a cedar plank which I don’t like BUT if that is up your alley go for it! I thought the prices vs. the portions were great! The dessert was awesome! The cheesecake could have fed at least 4 people and the crème crème brûlée was done perfectly! I liked our server a lot! She was attentive! Oh and the mashed potatoes were pretty awesome. I say A-Ok bc I did not feel like it was THAT spectacular, it was a nice in between if you want better steak than Outback but cannot really afford Morton or STK or Chops.

Went there with my boyfriend for dinner on a Saturday. Not as expensive as expected. My prime rib was great. The honey butter fried chicken was good, too. I’d definitely come back.
