What a fun night to celebrate with friends. Great atmosphere and the food was amazing! Hot banana pudding… Oh my Lawd! Sonnn

We were able to reserve a table the same day because it was our«snow» day and people cancelled their reservations. YAY! So we were seated quickly, right in front of the chefs making their masterpieces. We received 5 small plates of yummy deliciousness that came up to about $ 90+ without any drinks except water and no dessert. So be prepared or be very picky with what you eat. Here’s what we had. Pork belly and risotto(i think) — -my fav. Melted in your mouth almost crispy liver and onions – very good tasty dipping sauce beef strip loin(most expensive) – tender and tasty quail and waffles — this was really good but it didn’t have alot of meat on it braised pork and sausage — loved this. bursting with flavor Everything was presented like pieces of art. I really enjoyed that. The waitstaff was extremely attentive and on point.

Very unique dinning experience. Went as a group and did the family style meal. Nothing like having the chef explain the dish and his/her take on it. Desserts were amazing. Would love to go back and try the normal meal of choosing which dishes you want. The traveling bar is very cool. Getting to watch the bartenders mix up a unique or classic drink at your table is a nice feature. Will be back.

The concept is clever, expensive and a lot of fun. Each chef has two items on the menu and brings it around the tables to show off. Customers get one chance to decide if they want it and then it is gone. Get over the pressure that this type of decision process may bring you with some of their excellent wines and enjoy the ride. You may over order, you will pay a lot, but the food in most cases is very good and the experience is unique.

I would probably give this restaurant a 4.5÷5 if I could. I came to Gunshow with my boyfriend early December. We had reservations on a Tuesday night and only waited momentarily when we arrived. We got a drink at the bar, he had the alcoholic eggnog concoction and I had a flowery drink. Both were good and no more expensive than a nice cocktail in Atlanta(11 – 13 $). Seating at Gunshow is communal. There weren’t any two person tables that I saw. We were situated between a couple of different groups at a long table and brought our menu so that we could begin preparing what we wanted to try. While I loved the concept when I heard about it, it didn’t really prepare me for having to tell multiple chefs ‘no’ in a row. It took a couple of dishes for the first dish that we wanted to arrive to us, so there was some pressure to pick something. I didn’t really enjoy that aspect — however, I did like seeing the food presented before I purchased. We tried a couple different dishes. By far the favorite was the… Lobster Roll. This was a large portion and very easy to share. It was also the most expensive dish we ordered. I wouldn’t say it was incredibly unique in comparison to other lobster rolls I’ve had, but it was very good. There was also a short rib dish, a scallop dish, and I believe a grouper dish that we both had. Most of the portions were pretty small. We got each dish to share so we could try more but in some cases like the scallops, this basically meant we each got a couple of small bites. For desert we got the Banana Pudding which I highly recommend. It was amazing and tasted like marshmallows. It was also large enough for two and reasonably priced. In addition to the dishes, the toasted old fashioned was very good and a pleasure to watch them make. Overall the vibe of the place was pretty casual and felt current. I would definitely go back for special occasions.

My first visit to GunShow was an absolute pleasant experience. We had reservations and were seated right away. I was expecting to be seated at my own table but it was a shared table amongst other guests, which I did not mind. The Chefs made their way through tables describing their dishes, if guests wanted to try it, the chef would leave it and mark our menu, indicating that we had taken it. It was like an Americanized version of Dim Sum but pricier. The portions are almost as small as a typical Dim Sum restaurant. We ended up eating 7 dishes. It was hard to say no when all of the dishes looked so good ! I definitely would recommend this place to anyone and everyone who wants a different dining experience. Also… I think their menu changes everyday, so the eating experience would definitely be different. I can’t wait to go back.

I don’t like when people say they«don’t understand the hype.» I think people say it for the attention. In my case, I truly didn’t understand the hype. It’s very possible it was due to the dishes served last week. Other than the dessert there was not one dish that was memorable. Every dish lacked something that would send it over the top. The fried quail and waffle needed sauce, I would have taken anything. I suggest a honey glaze maybe. I’m a foodie and generally very easy to please, but nothing quite worked here. I use to work in restaurants during high school and college. Something that I enjoyed about Gunshow that you usually don’t find anywhere else was how relaxed and happy the chefs were. You could tell they were doing something they enjoyed instead of stuck in the weeds buried in tickets. Since the food wasn’t spectacular, the prices painfully stood out. I’m not afraid to spend $ 150 – 200 on a date with my wife every now and then, but the value just wasn’t there for what we were served. Looking at the pictures it looks like there are some creative dishes so don’t base your visit entirely in my review alone. Maybe we went on an off week?

THEBESTRESTAURANTINATLANTA. Gunshow is the best food I’ve had in this town, and maybe anywhere, and I love the concept. At this southern dim sum restaurant, you have to be a little adventurous, but you also don’t need to worry because nothing’s bad on the menu. The menu is constantly different, and chefs prepare their own dishes(that are mainly modern American) and bring them to the table for you. The best part is hearing the person who is so passionate about their own dish try to sell it to you. As someone in advertising, I understand the art of the pitch, and I think I’d get a lot more done if I was holding one of their dishes. The last time I went to the restaurant, Kevin Gillespie himself was there and prepared the best dish of the night, crispy catfish with some magical spices and sauces that were unforgettable. Some other knockouts were the scallops with caviar and grapefruit, the steak skewer that was a perfect melt-in-your-mouth medium rare. Don’t get too full, and pace yourself, because dessert is killer here. Everything’s pretty and delicious, but the only thing you can’t leave without is the banana pudding. Besides the beautiful presentation, there’s a warm banana pudding under the best meringue in town. The price can be a little steep, but unlike many of the«concept» restaurants in Atlanta, you walk away knowing your meal was worth every penny here.

I’ll try my best to put last night’s experience into words. Very new to me, yet the dinner was so fun. I will skip all the introduction about concept and such since fellow Unilocalers have done a great job covering those. I’ll just say I loved seeing the chefs going around the table introducing and offering their masterpiece personally. That was very unique. Our table(party of 5) tried every single dish that was brought to us, which was about total of 10 dishes(plus 2 desserts). Price ranged from $ 14 to $ 24, and the two of my all-time favorite meals were both $ 14 each: «CRISPYGAHOTQUAILWAFFLEWITHWINTERSQUASHANDBACONJAM» and«CRISPYPANCETTAHAM&HEIRLOOMFARROGRITS» CRISPYGAHOTQUAILWAFFLEWITHWINTERSQUASHANDBACONJAM Oh my lawd. Just imagine the best chicken and waffle you’ve ever had in your life times a hundred. Fried quail was seasoned and so perfectly cripsy, and the waffle was sweetened just enough to make the perfect balance. When you top it off with savory squash and bacon jam with those two, you get the sweet, salty, soft, crispy-ness all in one heavenly bite. So glad we requested 2 plates of these. MUSTTRY while it lasts! Braised rabbit fettucini was rather ordinary, Bleu cheese aged beef strip loin was exceptional, and Peking Moulard duck breast was marvelous. These dishes were more memorable to me; rest of the menu(won’t mention all) were just great. For drinks, I absolutely LOVED the Winter Tonic(Sunchoke + mushroom gin, cranberry tonic, Amaro montenegro, soda). Apart from looking pretty, it was very cheerful, not overpowering, and had a hint of minty flowery aftertaste. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED! Dessert: no matter how full you are, you must get the banana pudding. Just get it. To wrap it up, this place is nothing like other restaurants. You have so much interactions with the chefs and the mixologist, and the entire place is very active and exuberant. It was a phenomenal night and I would love to come back some day.

I have been twice, and the second time was just as amazing as the first. Holy Cow! If you love dim sum, you’ll love this. I now feel it is my duty to go once a month just so I can go eat my way to happiness. I went again last night with a friend and she tried caviar for the first time and loved it. The drinks are a separate adventure I take once I arrive. I usually go for something I have never tried before, and as a lover of libations I thought this would be difficult, but it hasn’t. I had the house stuffed olives last night. YUM. Please go if you’ve been thinking about it but were unsure. It’s worth your time.

The setup: I was stoked to try Gunshow after some friends raved about it and because I had been to State Bird Provisions earlier in the year, which boasts a similar concept and the accolades to boot. Reservations: I poked around in SeatMe and it seems like you have to give up a credit card to secure your reservation. Not being a big fan of this, I called to make a reservation, and the employee didn’t ask for my credit card, yay. Definitely call a few weeks in advance. Parking: You can either grab a street space or go around to a free parking lot with the entrance between Bill Kennedy Way and Bartram. Easy peasy. Atmosphere: I felt like I had attention deficit disorder in the restaurant since I was constantly being distracted by the noise, the other diners surrounding us, the bar and the merchandise area, and the activity in the open kitchen. Sensory overload! Booze: Though wine and beer are available, the cocktails are the stars here. I ordered the Cortez & Co.($ 12) which included tequila, Campari, Madeira, crème de cacao, and ancho chile. It was all right, though I do admit that I was expecting it to be like another cocktail that I had elsewhere with tequila and spice, and it wasn’t. The Toasted Old Fashioneds($ 10) come with fire and a little show by the mixologist so that was fun. Grub: Your server gives you a menu listing all the food options for that evening. This is great since you can review and decide what you really must have and what you can decline. Because I’m a softie, I felt bad turning down some dishes since the actual chef brings them out. If you turn down a dish, make sure you have no regrets since you can’t change your mind later. The offerings included a combo of turf, surf, and veg. The special(the blank line on the menu for $ 30) ended up being Beef Wellington. I wish we knew that earlier since that could help with meal planning. Oh well. It was a huge portion, and the puff pastry was delectable. These were some of my favorites: *House made cotechino, corona beans, roasted garlic, crispy pig ear salad *Crispy Brussels sprouts, local feta, pomegranate, pickled peppers *Roasted Guinea hen, local turnips, lentils, natural jus *Miso grilled swordfish, Marcona almonds, dates, local collards *Chocolate, toffee, coffee(chocolate cake with a chocolate mousse, topped with toffee, and sitting in a creamy coffee sauce – heavenly!) Sample size: I discussed this with a scientist friend. He says that three is an optimal group size for Gunshow, and I would have to agree since our trio fared well. I would expand the range to 3 – 4 since any more than that, you many only be able to grab half a spoonful of any dish. And maybe get into more arguments about what to get and what to skip. Conclusion: For special occasions, and if you don’t mind a lively atmosphere, bring your inheritance and your tickets to this Gunshow.

So this place is amazing! I love the concept and if my budget allowed me to, I would have eaten everything on the menu(minus the pork stuff of course!) For starters, let me say that everything is small plates/tapas portion, I think two people sharing each plate will be just perfect. I tried most of the things on our menu– and I have to say, I was not disappointed! Loved everything I ate, my favorite was this artichoke thing that came out. Concept– 5; carrying the concept out– 4 So I say this because the chefs come out of the kitchen and pretty much sell their dish; and everything they described/brought out was something I wanted! However I think this chefs name was Natalie? Not really sure, but all she did was come by, put the plate in front of us, said what the menu read about the dish(which is the name of the dish by the way i.e. Foie gras etc, and it was kind of like here’s a plate of stuff on it, you want this? No? Okay bye– To me this was very disappointing. I definitely wanted the foie gras so I took it, but she didn’t say much besides that– no smile no description Food — 5; too many pork items– 2(but the food was amazing) So the one reason I took a star away comes in right here— there was this amazing special they had; I saw a blank spot on the menu, but nothing written there and the server sure didn’t mention that there was a special tonight– we went on an odd night so I didn’t think there would be one either — the special got presented to us at the end of our meal– we had already ordered everything and we were about be done, when see this special come by! So obviously we didn’t take it; 1. It was definitely not cheap; like $ 30 for this tapa-size special 2. I was pretty done with my meal after everything we ordered(like 6 maybe 7 things) Noise level — 1.5(it was super crazy loud there) So it’s called gunshow, I didn’t expect it to be quiet, but I was not expecting it to be this loud either! Anyhow, it goes with the concept of the restaurant, so I’m okay with it! In no way come here expecting an intimate meal with you significant other— it’s loud, you sit next to strangers on a long table(so go with friends if you don’t want to have a meal next to people you don’t know) Overall, if you haven’t been, you must try this place out!

A culinary magic land with just too much of a show. Who ever said sometimes even too much of good is bad. Well that must have been for this restaurant. Undoubtedly a culinary gem of atlanta with a high end community diner like feel, bright lights and noisy enough that screaming is the only means of communication, this place has got a little too much of everything going on. Definitely not a good place for first or even second date, well unless you are hard on hearing. As for the food, each plate is a small flavor heaven but keep in mind the word small is surely can’t be focused enough. To me it’s definitely a tapas style cuisine where you can come enjoy many different flavors but you’ll have to pay the hefty price. Those small gem of flavors don’t come cheap for sure. The minus which could be fun for some is the style they showcase the food. The servers come one by one bringing each plate on the menu and you can either accept or refuse the plate as per your will. Initially it’s fun but later it can just be annoying. Would have preferred pre selection options. As for food reconditions; the lobster roll and chicken wedding cake are a must. The drinks are surely not any less creative either. Each drink interesting blend of flavors not often available elsewhere. The cart option where they make speciality cocktails in front of you is quite interesting. Overall it’s a bright fun place to enjoy scrumptious flavors and enjoy with your friends. But it’s definitely not a 5 star.

ATLANTA, GA: This is the only restaurant in my life I’ve ever been so delighted by that I tweeted about it during the meal! You must try it, make reservations well in advance, though! Tried a bunch of things that will probably not be served when you go, but here goes for whomever reads this: 1. Fried Lobster Tail with Creamed Kale: Lobster tail, 3 stars, Creamed Kale 5 stars. It’s either amazing or a tragedy when you like the creamed kale better than a lobster tail, I’ll go with Amazing! 2. Fried Monte Cristo: Bam! 5 stars! This thing rocked my world! Delicious sandwich, bread tasted like freshly made French toast, deep fried and delicious. Aromatic sensory experience, best I’ve ever had with a ham sandwich in all my days. 3. Foie Gras Tea Party(5 stars!!!): OMG this was unbelievable; my senses were firing in every direction like crazy: marmalade, scone/crumpets, mixed with a Foie gras infused earl-Grey tea cream/butter concoction. Sounds crazy but it was a trance-inducing experience. Devoured the scones and marmalade and had extra foie gras-tea diffusion and just spooned it direct… AMAZING! 4. Creamed Mushrooms/Baked Egg:(2 stars) I appreciate the ingenuity but just couldn’t finish it. 5. Short Rib(3.5 stars). It was good, tasted like a lovely pot roast, but I don’t come to Gunshow for a lovely pot roast so I wouldn’t order it again. 6. Banana Pudding: Wow 5 stars! It was delicious, yes, but the wow factor of the presentation is out of this world! Just wonderful, served warm with a wavy Animé-hair merengue top. Almost tasted like a toasted marshmallow(the merengue). Order it! Service and ambience were great! Heavy metal music was a bit much but true to brand.

I wished I loved Gunshow more — but it was just an ok experience. Be forewarned — for those who love to say yes to everything — the bill will make your eyes bulge if you’re not careful. Our bill for two came to almost $ 200, not what we were expecting to spend for a Tuesday night dinner. I didn’t really care for the«dim sum-style» of serving entrees. With the cooks having to «sell» the dishes they make, nothing was ever really quite hot enough, always just lukewarm and there are times when three dishes would arrive at once. You’re forced to either accept the dish at that moment since it would not be offered again. So as you’re eating one dish, another one is getting cold. There wasn’t a cohesive theme that bought all the dishes together, so it just felt like a mish-mash of dishes thrown together. My favorite dish of the night was the banana pudding! A mile-high toasted meringue on top of the most comforting banana pudding — just wished it was served with vanilla wafers instead of cake for some much needed texture. We also had a Beef short rib marmalade with root vegetables and chestnuts which I wished came with some toast or something similar for variety. Since the short rib is served as a marmalade, it would have helped to have something for it to be served on top of. The Malaysian empanadas were good, but not great. Stuffed my face with so much food, I wished I could remember the rest. Cocktails were great, especially the toasted old fashioned. Would I come here again? probably not.

Holy crap did I like Gunshow. The concept is rad. The food is delicious. The grits are so good that I would kill for them. Actually, wait that’s not really fair. I wouldn’t just kill anyone for them. Murdering an innocent person for grits is horrifying. Let me clarify — I’d kill someone who really deserved it, like a Hitler. Yeah, the grits are so good that I’d kill a Hitler for them(Adolf Hitler from WWII and not some other random poor sap who has Hitler in his name). To be really fair, I’d kill the WWII Hitler for a sandwich. I don’t need to go through all the trouble of being offered Gunshow grits to kill a Hitler. I can just be offered the opportunity. Um. Yet…I digress. The concept is beautiful — see the dish before you order it. If you don’t want it, just decline and something else will be brought out. Highlights: The cheesy grits with cured meat. Brittish sausage(the pine nuts inside the sausage is such a delicious touch) Scallops The signature dessert of banana bread pudding Telling you about the best dishes is practically pointless, as it seems their menu changes very often. Just go.

Went to gunshow for my birthday this year and it did not disappoint!!! It was my first time going to a dim sum style restaurant with non Asian food. They bring around all the dishes on the menu that particular night and you have them leave it, or you can pass. One of my favorite dishes of the night was the fried chicken. They were promoting it hardcore because it was a few weeks before Kevin Gillespie’s southern restaurant was opening, but it was easily one of the best I’ve had in Atlanta. The pork belly buffalo wings were also phenomenal. Not a huge fan of buffalo flavored things in general, but this particular dish is great.

«Well, that’s chicken and egg semantics. The important point is that we win some cases because our brains are repositories for intelligence and their brains are day-old banana pudding.» — Homicide: Life on the Street(1993TV Series) Best birthday dinner ever… and can I say, I have the best friends in the world? Well, you know who you are. This place delivers a unique dining experience and you have to go at least once, but when you go, I advise that, if you love to eat, grab enough friends and do the Chef’s Table. This is the best way to really experience Gunshow. Think Dim Sum meets churrascaria — the chef’s come to the table and present their dishes to you and you can accept them or not. The menu is sitting on the table, and in a more traditional experience, dishes are marked off as you accept them — in a Chef’s Table presentation, you are automatically given eight entrees and two desserts. Cocktails are separate. For my birthday, my friends arranged 12 of us to be seated and presented with the Chef’s Table option. I started with the Toasted Old Fashioned — which was bourbon, bitters, burnt sugar, bruleed cinnamon and flamed orange — even the drinks are a production. I’m a bourbon fan and was thrilled to get a classic, upgraded. I was also thrilled to see TWO bourbon cocktails on the menu — so my second was the Pigs N Figs — Bourbon, Apple Brandy, Pig, Fig, Maple, Havana and Hide Bitters. Both were potent, both were deliciously sinful and I would drink again. Now the server(I can’t remember her name — I had a couple of bourbons, remember) was amazing. She was forewarned of my food allergies(Thanks, Tanya C — best friend ever) and so she came to discuss them with me. I really should make little business cards. She knew to steer me clear of anything with tree nuts and fish/certain shell fish. So no dying would happen. Excellent. One thing Chef Kevin has always done very well in his restaurants(better than anyone else) is handle food allergies. As each chef came to the table to present, they would turn and talk directly to me and let me know if it was safe for me or not. This was an extra bonus — I felt so comfortable eating here. So let’s talk food, shall we? Here was our menu: Kobe Beef Tartare, served like they do in Paris House Made Fettuccini Carbonara with Ham Hocks *Broken Arrow Ranch Wild Boar Mole Enchiladas Brasstown Beef Short Rib, Anson Mill Grits, Tomato Braised Greens *Southern Fried Catfish & Hushpuppies Grilled GA Quail, Marinated Farro, Roasted Sunchoke, Apricot-Orange Glaze *Butter Roasted Diver Scallop, Braised Red Cabbage, Beet, Orange Black Trumpet & Hedge Hog Mushroom Risotto Warm Old Fashioned Banana Pudding Dark Chocolate, Butterscotch, Coffee, Coca-Cola Ice Cream The dishes with asterisks were not Lindy-friendly. I could eat everything else. I would like to note that my birthday dinner fell during lent. We had 2 people not eating red meat and 1 eating strictly vegetarian. Not the best time to eat at Gunshow — but they accommodated us well. Two of my favorite dishes of all time are tartare(carpaccio is tied) and carbonara. How they happened to have these two dishes when I was there, it was like fate. The tartare was like a symphony of rich beefy goodness in my mouth. This sounds so wrong, but it is true. That rich Kobe beef, the yolky sauce, the capers… delish. The fettuccini — second best dish of the night. If I could have fought off all my friends, I would have kept this to myself. The fresh English peas, the saltiness from the ham hocks, the rich creamy eggy sauce and the bite from the homemade pasta — this was near perfection. I had to skip the enchiladas(almonds in the mole) and couldn’t eat the catfish(I ate some hushpuppies, though). Next up, short rib. Another personal favorite. I could have stopped here and just eaten my weight in short rib — no knife required as the meat just crumbled at the sight of my fork. Rich with red wine and pickled onions, and the creamy grits underneath. Heaven. But the star of the evening was the quail — which was crazy since I never eat quail. Usually, it is too much work for too little reward. Well, this time, it was medallions of quail in an Apricot-Orange Glaze — the moist meat with the sweet glaze atop the texture of the farro — this was the ultimate dish. Everything after was just gravy waiting for dessert. Okay, so I couldn’t eat the scallops, and the risotto was pretty damn amazing(who doesn’t love mushrooms?!). But I had dreams about that quail. As for dessert — Chef Kevin’s infamous Banana Pudding really hit the spot. A Northern classic with the meringue on top was such heaven in every spoonful. And usually, I would be upset that there was not an Oreo cake or some such delightfulness being served to me on my birthday — but not this year. I would say that this was an excellent substitute. Again, I considered fighting off my friends for more of it, but I was so full, it wasn’t possible. All-in-all, perfection.

Rounding up to 5 stars! I came prepared(thank you, Unilocalers) to quickly select the high priority items so that I would not miss out. We were also firm about not straying from these starred items as we knew that our bellies would not be able to enjoy everything. We took very seriously the warnings that servers might not come back if we reject the first time(they actually made an effort to bring around seconds for the items we specifically asked for). These starred items did not disappoint and included –Housemade lamb merguez, braised lamb breast, chermoula carrots, cous cous. Made the mistake of trying the bland cous cous first and by itself. However, disappointment was nullifed after the lamb. I savored each bite of the merguez. It had the right amount of spicy. One of the stars of the evening. Carrots were seasoned well, too. We took advantage of the opportunity to get this again when we saw it being paraded around. –Braised beef short rib, chinese style radish cake, spicy radish salad. Tender but I would have liked it to be more tender. as in fall– off– into– pieces– with– a– touch– of– a– fork tender. More fat would have been needed and I may have criticized that though. –Torchon of Hudson Valley Foie Gras, banana, cardamom, coffee, IPA. I love me some foie gras. Especially soft, creamy foie gras. What a delightful variety of texture with the cardamom and coffee grounds. YUM! No wonder this is the executive chef’s dish. One of the stars of the night. –Peruvian style beef stuffed pimento pepper(with scalloped potatoes). I was already craving potatoes before I came here tonight. Those scalloped potatoes were any lady’s dream. Soft and creamy with different flavors! The beef and pepper were good, too. But this potato fan thought the potatoes were the star, not of just this dish, but possibly for the evening! –Grilled GA quail, bourbon-peach glaze, lemon & mascarpone grits. The flavor of the quail is good. until the saltiness became apparent. Less salt and this would have been perfect. I felt badly for the bird as I spat out the cute, tiny bones though. –Crispy duck confit, Korean rice dumplings, cauliflower kimchi, peach. Interesting menagerie. I’ve never had rice dumplings before and enjoyed this crunchy, non-greasy version. Cauliflower kimchi is fresh and good. I like how strands of cauliflower are used. I don’t eat sweets but was curious about the hype surrounding the banana pudding. HYPE. IS. REAL! It’s beautifully presented. The banana pudding is not too sweet(if eaten with the puff on top). Initially, the rocky road presentation seduced me but I went with the tried and true pudding and am glad I did. I recommend it to even all you non sweet lovers out there. If I did it over again, I would try not to get duplicates(as we did with two dishes). After one dessert, our bellies were full but our wandering eyes were tempted to try a different dish(dessert). I would definitely bring guests here. Groups of 3 – 5 would be ideal to try different dishes. I’m rounding this up to 5 for the experience, how smoothly service ran, hard work of the chefs walking around selling their food, and accessible parking.

This was a classic case of something being so overhyped, that the expectations didn’t live up to the hype. I remember when Gunshow first opened. Everyone was orgasming how amazing it was. I even fell into the hype because I’ve been to Woodfire Grill when Kevin was still there and liked it. I also liked the concept of a dim-sum style restaurant, where chefs bring out their creation. But we didn’t do that. We got the family style, pre-fixe dinner. When you reserve with 7 or more people, they give you a special 8 + 2 course family style meal for about $ 56/person(as of Aug 2015). The courses are about 90% of what the actual menu is for that day. It’s a great way to try everything they have. You can even order more dishes they made that day if you wish. We did. The whole atmosphere was charged and loud. It looks like a casual environment. If you want, you can just come in wearing your t-shirt, shorts, and sandals. They won’t judge. I liked the non-pretentious atmosphere. I also liked how they played heavy metal music in the background. It is a loud place though, I wished they turned the sound down a bit. It was hard to hear the servers and chefs. I’m not a cocktail guy, but their Toasted Old Fashioned is a great cocktail. When they make it, they make a show of it as they light it on fire. It was cool. It was like a toasted, sweet bourbon. So let’s get on with the food. They were good but not amazing. With the price I paid, it wasn’t a good value. Sure there were some creative dishes, and I give them points for that, but most tasted above average. I’m not saying they sucked, but it wasn’t any different than any good quality restaurant in Atlanta. For example, one of the items that we tried was the Schezuan Salt and Pepper Pork. It tasted good. But I can get something similar at Tasty China for like $ 12. Why did I need to put up the effort to make a reservation 1 month in advanced and pay up the nose for something like that? The Scallop, Shrimp, and Snapper Ceviche with Hand Made Doritos was good. It was a good ceviche. But that’s all it was – a good ceviche. The Grilled Rattlesnake Beans with Charred Peaches tasted good. It was comforting. I liked the charred Peaches. It brought out an extra element to the peaches. It was probably one of their better dishes. The House Made Lamb Merguez was my favorite. But I love lamb. It had a strong gamey taste. And some people might not like that. The Chermoula Carrots was good but felt like a gimmick. The Indian Spiced Fried Okra with Curry Ketchup was just fried okra with some curry seasoning. It was decent. The Grilled Georgia Quail was another favorite of mine. The Marscapone Grits was creamy and thick and good. The Quail was delicious and grilled well. I loved the smokey flavor from the grill. The Pan-seared Snapper with Sweetcorn Risotto was good too. I liked the snapper. I couldn’t enjoy the risotto as much because of the watermelon. I’m allergic to watermelon. I’m sure it was good. The Duck Confit with Kimchi and Dduk was good. I loved the Korean flavors. Being a Korean, I thought I wouldn’t like this dish as much. But I actually liked how they brought in the Korean flavors. I liked the Chicken Sandwich. It was like a Chick Fil A sandwich but better. The chicken was fried better. The bun was fluffy and delicious. It was a good dish. The Mussels were fine. I mean, they put some interesting thing into the liquid like Dashi, eggplant, and tofu. But mussels are annoying to eat. And they always taste the same. I wished they had some type of carb to sop up the liquid. Their Banana Pudding was great. The only problem was that I normally eat the pudding cold. It was hot, straight from the oven it seemed. I still liked it though. I loved the torched cream on top. That added a nice, smokey flavor. It was creamy, heavenly, and delicious. Their deconstructed Rocky Road was fine. All the pieces were great. I liked the marshmallows because I think they torched or cooked it a bit too. It was good, but too decadent for me since I pigged out on the banana pudding beforehand. Like I said, my expectations fell short. The food was good, don’t get me wrong. But it wasn’t mind-blowing. I suggest you to lower your expectations when you come here, despite all the hype or you’ll leave underwhelmed like me. You’re coming here for a fun, charged atmosphere, the drinks, and the food – in that order. In my opinion, if you’re coming strictly for food, it’s overpriced and not worth it. 3.5 stars.
