The waiter sucked she was backwards as hell. They dnt believe in making the customer happy. She miss informed me on menu items and wouldn’t work to fix the problem. Then expectede to pay for that item. Horrible customer service.

Usually I don’t write reviews unless an establishment actually deserves/earns it. Well I visited said establishment today. While meeting up with a friend of mine for brunch and conversation. I get there and they tell me I have to wait outside in the cold for 15 minutes, I should have known at that point that it was time to go. I gave it a chance we were very patient. Finally sat us at a table after a bit of an unnecessary ordeal, no one came to the table for 20 minutes. Meanwhile other tables are being served. That was the moment where I said it is time to go. We got up left the place and found a better place to eat. We actually went to Debbie Delights in East Point where we were sat immediately. I don’t have many good things to say about this business other than they should go out of business so people don’t stop waste their precious time and energy going here. My best advice to you is GOSOMEWHEREELSE.

There’s nothing like visiting a city and dining at the«must-try» restaurants. I’ve heard good things about Gladys Knight’s spot, so when my bestie(who resides in Atlanta) told me she was going to take me, I was pretty stoked to see what the Empress of Soul’s restaurant had to offer! We came to this location on a Friday afternoon on New Years Day. The hostess told us the wait for a table was going to be 2 hours and if we wanted to take a seat at the bar, it was first come first serve. Thank goodness there were 2 vacant seats because we were super hungry and waiting for 2 hours to eat would have gotten Gladys the deuces. We were immediately greeted by our waitress/bartender at the bar who gave us menus and told us about the drink specials for the day, which was $ 5.00 per drink– of course we were game. I can’t remember what the cocktail consisted of but it had a raspberry flavor to it that was really good. After my second one, I had a slight buzz. «Yaaasss Gladys, get me all the way together!» were my thoughts. Hahaha! My friend suggested that we start off with the Fried Green Tomatoes as an appetizer or as Gladys calls it on the menu«the opening act». Definitely a good choice! The tomatoes had just the right amount of crisp to them and adding their homemade remoulade dipping sauce made it that much more indulging. I think it’s safe to say we smashed that appetizer leaving not one tomato untouched! By this time we’d had time to check out the menu and was ready to order our food. But trying to catch up with our waitress? A challenge. It took forever for her to come back around and take our orders(30+ minutes). We thought our girl had forgot about us, but finally she reappeared. Having glazed the menu a few times, my first thought was to get the Chicken & Waffles but my taste buds turned up with excitement at the sight of the Smothered Chicken, or as Gladys calls it a «grammy winner» entrée– so I went with that instead. I chose Collard Greens and Mac & Cheese for my sides. The Smothered Chicken sat on a bed of rice with gravy. It hit the spot because I came starving, but I must say I expected it to have more flavor– it was a little bland. The Collard Greens and Mac & Cheese were to my liking. My friend complained that the Mac & Cheese is always too cheesy but I thought it was pretty good. After finishing up our meal, we were ready to pay and be out, but once again our waitress was taking all. damn. day(30+ minutes). And although we were not in a rush, the fact that we had to sit there and wait for no apparent reason just to pay for our meal was not cool. Not sure if they were short-handed or what, but regardless– it wasn’t a good look. **side-eyeing Gladys like…“guurrllll!”** Smh. My first impression of Mrs. Knight’s restaurant? 3 stars. Okay, but not great. The slow service was the downfall for me and as far as my food, I felt like the Smothered Chicken was lacking flavor. I plan to give it a second try, as there were a few other items on the menu that caught my eye, and of course I gotta come back to try the Chicken & Waffles at some point. Thumbs up for the ambiance and I love that they have a bar! Hoping for a 5 star experience next time.

The food here is fantastic, but the service is pathetic! It wasn’t even crowded and took forever to get a seat, then a very, very long time before anyone even took our order. We had to ask the hostess to find our waiter so that we could get our check and, even then, it took him nearly half an hour to return our debit card so that we could leave. The only saving grace is that the food is really, really good when you finally get it.

No thank you. The service here is cool, and the manager, Kevin, really makes you feel at home. My date ordered a chicken omelette, grilled, and I ordered the shrimp and grits, sautéed. They brought the omelette with fried chicken so we had to send it back. I think he enjoyed it after that. My shrimp was way too salty and the grits were ‘eh’. If you’re used to Waffle House, roscoes, etc. you might want to just pass this bad boy on up.

The chicken/waffles(Midnight Train): crazy delicious. The waffle was great, the chicken was crispy, add the syrup and hot sauce…(drool). Our server was really nice, but other servers were rather cold.

Food and service was amazing. Waffles and chicken is like no other. Save room for the sweet potato cheesecake.

We arrived late, 15 minutes before closing. Our server welcomed us warmly and made sure that we new the kitchen was about to close so we could get our order in quickly. The chicken and waffles were delicious but the sides were the star. The Mac and cheese is not to be missed, cheesy, buttery, crusty. Some of the best ever. The yams just like my grandmother used to make. Collards were tender and had just enough kick. We’ll be back next time we are in Atlanta!

REVIEWUPDATE: For the life of me, I will understand restaurants that run out of things. Came for the fried green toms– they were out. Food takes a really looooooong time, and it’s not even that crowded. Waitress is clueless, but EVERYTHING starts with management…

The food was excellent. The chicken was better than greemount ave.(and y’all that know me know I love friendly fried chicken on greenmount. the waffle was delicious. The service was a bit slow but it is Sunday brunch and it was packed. She was very courteous. I had a mimosa and it was very good. It looked orange but not sure much orange house was in it. Lol I give it 5 stars and can’t wait to visit again.

I dunno how people hated this place. You really have to be lousy to mess up chicken and waffles! Does this even near a review? It should be a given that it is good. As for other reviews, Atlanta is full of homeless people. They are pretty aggressive, too. However, I guess it’s a joke for me, cuz I’m from NY and am not phased by it. Don’t hold it against the restaurant, cuz that aint for them to fix. PS: Take advantage of the nearby parking. You’ll need it after you stuff your fat ass!

When I walked in, my waitress was clearly pissed that I chose to sit in her section because it was time for her get off. They TOLD me to sit wherever I wanted and so I did. She left and another guy took her place. Enjoy your evening, sis. I don’t have much to say about this except I had a dope waiter named Lamont. He’s from Oakland and chipper as shit. He comped me on my fried green tomatoes because they weren’t that tasty. But his service alone made the experience enjoyable. I think my one gripe is that they made my waffle a little light skinned. I’m not fan of a privileged looking waffle; I prefer my waffles to look a little oppressed. My bad for not expressing that(but even without me saying anything, no one should want a waffle that damn undone looking). Overall, okay. Glady’s & Ron’s took a hit a couple years ago and IMO, the food changed dramatically. But when you’re a lazy bum(raises hand) who wants chicken and waffles and don’t feel like making them, you just type the shit in Google and go with whatever’s immediately available. Blessings.

Been here 3 – 4 times. Food is GREAT. I highly recommend the mac and cheese and midnight train(waffles and chicken). They have drink specials too which is great. Only reason I’m giving them three stars instead of five is because of my last experience. Our food came out an hour after we ordered but everyone around us(who came in after us) got theirs first. We were sitting at the bar which usually means food comes out quicker but nope, 50 minutes. I asked to speak to a manager and told her what was going on and she notified the kitchen manager who brought our food up right away. I was very excited to finally eat then realized my mac and cheese was cold. I told the kitchen manager and he accused me of lying. Because of the long wait, cold food, and horrible customer service I expected some sort of discount which the manager refused. So long story short, the food was free because I was not paying for this horrible experience. Not returning to this location.

Neither over or under whelmed. Pricey Meat-n-three in Midtown. Seems to be very popular as the place was packed. There is always a large crowd of homeless men who hang around the side walk in front of the restaurant. As noted, this is an expensive meat-n-three. We paid $ 60 for a $ 15 meal you can get at thousands of places around Georgia. And for that price I was expecting something special. I enjoyed my Fried Green Tomatoes but my wife’s Fried Chicken was inedible it was so dry. I had high hopes, but the misses on the food for the prices charged, drove this rating down to two stars. Note: All reviews begin at three stars.

I rated this place 3 stars because it is so-so! You are just paying for the name really. My boyfriend & I came here because of the hype and we were excited but left highly disappointed. The service was great, don’t get me wrong, but we just left hungry and paid roughly $ 45ish including tip for 2 midnight trains(four wings, one waffle each) and two small sides of Mac and cheese. We went to the Daquiri Factory up the road for something more fulfilling afterwards. Maybe we will try it again, just something different.

I remembered the downtown location which was very nice when it opened years ago and you would see Gladys in the house. Since then I would see the line outside and could only conclude it was about the touristy celebrity nature of the owner. Fast forward to the much anticipated location at the Cascade Road Corridor in SW Fulton. Two observations underwhelming food and sooo slow. The fried chicken breading on the wings is bland as though they do not add salt. We went there for a birthday celebration a couple years ago and my wife ordered collard greens and they said they said they ran out of collards. Staff and management made no attempt to address the poor experience we had. Their future is dependent on tourists as locals in the neighborhood are unlikely to return given a choice. I miss the previous occupant of that location Landon’s Restaurant…

I graduated this past weekend, and called the day before to reserve seats for 12 people. Well, reservations were set for 2:00 pm, we were told to call if we would be early, in which we did call and they moved reservations up to 1:30. Our entire party was there at 1:30, and we did NOT get seated until 3:10. I would have given them a better rating if the hostess had not lied to my family the entire time! She informed us on several occasions that our seats were being cleaned, but the last straw was stating to my family«give me 10 minutes to put yalls menus down on the table» that 10 minutes turned into 30 minutes! And when has it every taken any one 10 minutes to drop menus on the table. Which when we were seated, we only had THREE menus on our TABLE for 12 people! This experience was horrible to say the least! I will never EVER go back to this location. They were unprofessional. When we were finally seated, the waiter, walked up to my family and stated, «Please be patient with me because I have never served a large party before.» We knew then we were in for treat(insert sarcasm here). This restaurant was NOT accommodating at all, they did not offer us ANYTHINGFOROURWAIT, We had to basically come in and ask for water, which was RIDICULOUS! The only reason, I did not pull my family and leave was because we were not from Atlanta, and my family had driven long distances to see me graduate. We were just a party of TWELVE, NOTTWENTY! When we finally got the food, it was bland and did not live up to the hype. I WOULDAVOIDTHISPLACEATALLCOST!!! Management seriously needs restructuring and the hostess, I believe her name was Mel, needs some serious training… and to put the cherry on top, the restaurant is NOT finished, and the TOILET would not flush! Just ask my mom! RIDICULOUS, NEVERAGAIN!

The service was wonderful. We were seated in 5 mins. We had the midnight train(chicken & waffles), shrimp & grits, & fried green tomatoes. The chicken & waffles were delicious! I had the buckwheat waffle & I loved it. You must try the corn muffins! They are amazing! We ordered some to take with us. The grits were the best grits my dad has ever had. Peach cobbler is the grand finale, nice and warm with a side of vanilla ice cream. Must try this place! Don’t forget the sweet tea ;)

I wasn’t sure what to expect because of the low ratings but my sis swore by this place so I tried it. Got their special fried chicken and waffles and OHMYGOSHHH it was absolutely fantastic! The chicken was perfectly fried with plenty of flavor and the waffles were nice and fluffy. I did however get a dirty water glass. The service wasn’t bad though and it wasn’t packed when we went on a Friday afternoon so no wait which is always a plus.

This is one of my favorite places to eat when im in Atlanta. This location is new but closer to where I stay when I visit. I ate here twice but this review is for my breakfast experience. I was great with smile from the host and placed in the main dining room with access to the bar and the TVs. My server promptly took my order for coffee which was a bold yet smooth. I ordered the #9 whivh consistided of a waffle, eggs and sausage patties. I substituted the sausages for chicken patties and added hash browns. I really enjoyed the waffle and its crunchy outside but malty but smooth inside. The eggs were eggs ok. However, I liked the spicy pepper sauce on my hashbrowns. Overall I found this location to be less crowded than the original location. The ambiance was urban but sophisticated. I will be back.
