First time visit. Saturday brunch. Got in before the crowds and no wait(10am), but soon after I noticed a wait. Food was fun. I saw a lot of things I want to try on the menu. Cocktails looked amazing. I want to go back for a late lunch next time and booze it up a bit. This AM I had waffles, which are sweet potato batter and very tasty. A bit doughy and would like to some crispy outside texture. But tasted amazing. Good bacon too, which is more diner style thin cut.

I’ve been for both breakfast and lunch and love the food and atmosphere. Highly recommend the veggie beet burger!

I’ve been to Folk Art several times for dinner and just now got around to visiting for breakfast. It really is a great restaurant. It has a cool vibe, very friendly staff, and is filled with local and vintage art. The dinner menu is extensive and has lots of options for vegetarians. The beet burger and flat top mac n cheese are delicious! The breakfast is one of the best I’ve eaten in Atlanta. The omelettes are light and fluffy and can be customized/substituted with a large variety of options. They come with a side of cheesy grits and buttery toast. I highly recommend the sweet potato pancakes. I shared some with my boyfriend who hates sweet potatoes but even he was blown away by them. I can’t wait to come back again soon!

I had a second-chance visit to Folk Art today with friends. At Sunday brunch, it was about a 15 min wait for our party of 3. Not bad. We got sat in the front area, which was great for the day. It was muggy outside and they had ceiling fans going. The owner had contacted me regarding my previous review and said to ask for him or one of the managers if I decided to revisit the restaurant. Christian came out and met us. He was very lovely. He offered us a free app(fritters) and gave us some great menu recommendations. The fritters were quite good, but the sauce was too sweet. I advise that you try the sauce out before slathering your fritter in it. I ordered the folk southern fried — fried chicken with fried egg & sausage gravy. Friends ordered the huevos rancheros(crisp tortillas topped w/ pork chili, roasted peppers, avocado, queso & fried eggs) and the bad to the bone(house roasted pork shoulder topped with collard green cole slaw, date chili bourbon BBQ, gruyére cheese, and crisp shaved onions). The bad to the bone was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. We all enjoyed our food. I will provide more detailed information about my dish… The portion was huge. I was stuffed for HOURS later. And I left plenty of biscuit on the plate — it was just too much. The chicken was moist and flavorful, but the skin fell off the meat. Not a major issue. There wasn’t enough gravy. And I am saying that as a person who doesn’t even really like gravy. Ha! They made me like gravy. You really need more gravy for the amount of biscuit. I am sure that if I wanted more that they could have done so. In fact, Christian told me that if you ever unhappy with your meal to please talk to someone and request something new. They will gladly swap it out. That is very comforting. About the environment, this place is totally funky in a good way. The atmosphere is wonderful. Love the décor and vibe. This was my friends’ first time at Folk Art and they had a great time. And, I know this is a weird thing to comment on, but the use some heavy duty air freshener in the bathroom. It smelled great. How often can you say that about a restaurant bathroom? Service was great and the food was served up quickly, even with a packed house. Take home: Bring your family(great place for kids) and friends, and enjoy! There is something for everyone.

I ordered the lamb kafta with two sides of fries and mac and cheese. The lamb kafta was quite good though lacking the zest of true Greek tatziki. The fries were rather brown and from the bottom of the batch and the Mac and cheese which I had looked forward to was rather bland as well. I also ordered a «What’s Up Doc» which was a very refreshing vodka and tomato based drink. For desert I had a gluten free chocolate brownie which had a consistency more similar to mousse than a «brownie» though the taste was quite light and good. Very slow service even during non-peak service.

Cute artsy place in Inman Park with a large breakfast menu. Prices were fair and service was friendly. I got the turkey sausage egg Benedict with had a delicious hollandiase but I wasn’t that big of a fan is the turkey sausage. They also have other options like lobster and smoked salmon? So maybe next time would go with that. Great coffee. Overall worth a stop!

My friend and I were looking for a breakfast place near the Jimmy Carter Museum and Library and we were so glad to have found Folk Art! Very cozy and cute interior. We ended up getting our food to go to save some time and it came quickly. I got the Foul Play, which was fried chicken and sweet potato waffles. The waffle was fluffy and tasty, the chicken was fried well but a little bit on the drier side. It came with a whiskey peach compote, which I wasn’t too big of a fan of. It was quite watery and not as thick as I expected, which made it hard to stay on the waffle and not all over my to-go box. Great flavors overall though!

I have been to Folk Art several times, and just realized I have never left a review. Shame on me! This place has never failed to please. It has an adorable, shabby, dive-y, look inside, the vibe is casual and comfy, good for couples families or groups of friends. But the food — wow. One thing I’m loving after moving to Atlanta recently is the pimiento cheese on all the menus. This pimiento cheese is GOOD. They serve it as an appetizer with plain saltine crackers, which just seems right. For breakfast, the peanut butter and banana French toast is amazing, not overly sweet, but really peanut buttery. For dinner, you’ll love whatever you order, but see if you can get the flattened mac and cheese on the side. It’s creamy mac & cheese with extra cheddar on it, then fried and flattened so the cheese gets all crispy… crazy good. They get busy on weekend mornings for breakfast, so come early(they open at 9) and you should be fine Just good southern comfort food with an artistic twist, and care taken in everything they do. Love it!

Came here on a random morning excursion. This place always seems to be packed and busy with some tight seating outside for waiting. It was quick and easy to get put on the wait list and the wait was only about 20 minutes. They have free valet, but the two drivers appeared overwhelmed with the traffic in the lot. We were quick to get parked(instant), but ended up getting our own car when we were leaving because they took longer than 15 minutes. Service: The server was friendly, but average in that he only checked up on us once after we placed the order. I ordered a coffee which did not come until halfway through the meal. Normally coffee is available at the start if not near the start of a meal. It was not until he was right about to bring it did he mention there was a wait on coffee. This was a little late for me and no refills were ever offered. Other than that, no issues with the service.(3⁄5 stars) Food: We ordered banana nut fosters pancakes and Fried Southern Fried. The food arrived very warm so it’s not like the food sat around, but ready to eat. The pancakes were great(4⁄5 stars). They had slices of bananas and nuts on them. The flavor was sweet, but not overwhelming. The syrup that came with them was legit, but left me wanting an additional small cup of it so I wouldn’t have to ration it among three pancakes(I would have asked/ordered one, but the server was too busy). The Fried Southern Fried was even better(5⁄5 stars). Normally my wife doesn’t like gravy, but totally liked it. The chicken was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. It had a nice crunch on the outside with a soft inside if that makes sense. Not sure how consistent the food is, but this left me open to come back for sure!

Fun little artsy spot to hang out! It was a beautiful day so we sat at the bar by the front window and felt the breeze! It was nice. I had the fried pork bahn mi sandwich. Delicious! A HUGE serving of pork with lots of pickled veggies and cilantro. I had the collards for a side. Must try! Collards were a bit salty but definitely worth it. Additional parking in the back made this stop convenient. UPDATE: Thank you Jason for responding! We have only been once but looking forward to brunch now that you mention it! We know where we will be on our next Atlanta trip! Thanks again!

Cute breakfast spot! Everything was delicious. I had the two eggs any style with toast, veggie sausage and grits with pimento cheese. Very filling. My friend got a biscuit with jam and gravy. While the breakfast options only take up one side of a menu, it is still overwhelming because there are so many good options. The other side of the menu is all drinks, including an extensive beer list and some creative cocktails. The service is friendly, too. I went here on a Monday morning and it busy as if it were a weekend. The lines are long on weekends but we had no wait. I recommend getting here early or going on a weekday. Popular for a reason!

Came here for breakfast on a Thursday and really enjoyed it! My mom and i split the foul play, the smoked salmon benedict and an order of hashbrowns with pimento and onions. The foul play had well-fried chicken and the waffle and compote were also tasty. Definitely needed some hot sauce though, and I opted for the Hotlanta which I didn’t know existed. Would definitely recommend. The benedict wasn’t anything super innovative, but it was done well and I liked having the spinach and tomato. Hashbrowns were basically fancy waffle house. Generous portion of pimento cheese! The restaurant had lots of sunlight and the décor matches the neighborhood. Server was also nice! Would definitely come again! Lots more on the menu I want to try.

We had a 45 min wait even at 1pm, but thankfully it was a beautiful day so the wait outside wasn’t bad. We were seated at high tables which included hooks for your jacket/bag which I also appreciate restaurants thinking about. I ordered the Foul Play which seems to be a popular choice, and it certainly was tasty. My only disappointment was the waffle — it was flat/thin, similar to what my waffle iron at home makes, and when I do brunch at a restaurant, I hope for a thick, fluffy one. I think this may have been a factor to why I was hungry 3 hours later — and that never happens when I do brunch!(This is telling about our society though, when we expect/want to be stuffed after every meal… hrmmm). I did like that it was made with sweet potato and the peach compote on top was good, which differentiates this from chicken and waffles elsewhere.

This was actually my first time, which is a sin, I know. Luckily I had a friend visiting town so I rallied up my roommates and we all ventured out on Martin Luther King Monday. Being a holiday for most federal staff and universities, it was actually packed at 11am. Guess everyone had brunch on their mind. Everything on the menu looks delicious. I’m more into the savory entrees than the sweey, so I had to get the fried chicken and biscuits smothered in sausage gravy. To top it off there was a perfectly poached egg underneath all that gravy. Like I had a literal moment when I broke that yolk open and let it ooze over everything. Holy wow. It was so good with the perfect peppery kick. Next time I’ll definitely be getting a side of that Mac N cheese. They basically throw it on the griddle and let the cheese form a cheesy crust on the bottom.

If you love brunch as much as I do, you have to try Folk Art. I’ve been here a couple of times now and I’m a sucker for egg’s benedict, so I almost always get the smoked salmon egg’s benny. They have 4 – 5 different options as well, depending on what you like. They also have your chicken and waffles and other various breakfast/brunch menu items. As expected with any other brunch spot on a weekend, there can be a bit of a wait, but it usually is within a reasonable 30 minute wait time. There is a free parking lot right behind the restaurant, so you don’t have to circle around finding street parking. The smoked salmon here is delish. It tastes extra smoky or extra savory — whatever it is, I’m a big fan. The only thing is that the dish doesn’t come with a side of potatoes or hash browns or anything else with it, which most other brunch places do. Other than that, I can’t complain. The egg yolks break beautifully over the salmon and the english muffin. But really, just go try it for yourself.

/TL;DR Pretty much the embodiment of what I think of when I think southern-inspired in the city of Atlanta. /ATMOSPHERE Tight and popular. Wait times are long, and people like to sit around and linger long after their checks show up. /FOOD Excellent. I had a southern fried pork banh mi with a side of crusty macaroni and cheese. A spot of spiciness in the banh mi made it right. Sure was good. Sure would recommend it again. The mac and cheese is pan fried or something so one side of the slab is nice and crusty. Exactly how I like it! /SERVICE All friendly and ready to serve. No complaints. HOWTOREADMYREVIEWS: 1 Star — Does not approach edible. Enter at your own risk. 2 Stars — If I’m in the area, I’d pick something else. 3 Stars — I would stop by if I happen to be in the area. 4 Stars — I would pick this place out of other places nearby. 5 Stars — I would go out of my way to dine here.

This was my first time at this restaurant. I honestly had never heard of it before I was invited to check it out. The space was small with limited standing room. We waited for a table for around 25 to 30 minutes. Our waiter was ok. No complaints. They had an appetizer special we decided to try. They were pretty much, fried grit balls. They were really good and came in a delicious sauce. The menu had several really cool choices, including some that were on some famous tv shows. Those items were all lunch items like burgers and I really had breakfast on the mind so I didn’t get to taste them. I’ll probably go back and check them out one day. I had the chicken and waffles. Fortunately, the chicken was boneless so I was able to partake. It was pretty good. I wasn’t a fan of the peach compote they had on there. It wasn’t sweet enough to do anything for the dish so I found myself relying heavily on the syrup that came with it. I’m a fan overall. I still prefer Buttermilk Kitchen for breakfast but I could see myself coming back to try some of the lunch options.

An excellent beer selection! They had lots of local stuff and stuff I like. The décor of the place is VERY hipster, but cool. The service seems to be a group effort, which my friend said he doesn’t like because then you lack individual service. Hm. I got an expensive craft soda, which was decent. It was a mandarin and Seville orange jigger. I had to try. :) I wasn’t very hungry so I just got a few side orders. The avocado cucumber salad(yum and fresh, but really small), the macaroni and cheese(OMG so good) and tomato basil soup(again really small and VERY rich and a bit too salty). My friend did not like his Reuben, the kimchi was weirdly sweet when it should have just tasted like kimchi. He didn’t eat more than a couple bites and he didn’t get charged. I would go again, for sure!

I came here for a late lunch on Sunday around 4pm. There wasn’t a wait and we were immediately seated. I saw that this place was good for brunch but I think we were here too late so I didn’t see any waffles or brunch items on the menu(although there was breakfast all-day like eggs and sides). My boyfriend ended up ordering the triple meatball burger with fries with chili pimento cheese and I ordered the lobster roll with cucumber and avocado salad. Although the burger was good, it was really heavy and really greasy — adding the chili with fries definitely made the meal even more greasy and heavy. My lobster roll was also just alright. There was too much sauce/mayonnaise. The chunks of lobster I did eat was also salty like it had been sitting in salt water. The cucumber and avocado salad was good — light and helped offset the other entrees. Overall, I just thought the food was okay, maybe I need to come back for brunch.
