My first fast food review… this is about the lovely woman in the drive-thru window. I only ordered a hamburger. When I got to the window she asked me if I would like a cup of water! I know that seems like a small thing but it was unexpected and much appreciated, no one ever asks. And the burger was hot and yummy. Oh, and she told me the DQ in downtown Decatur will reopen. :-)

Food and service were excellent. I know visually the exterior isn’t the most appealing, however the food didn’t disappoint and both the burger and fries were hot and delicious! I’ll admit the bun didn’t look the freshest, but I could just be me nitpicking at that point. Either way it wasn’t enough to detract from the overall experience. Keep up the great customer experience!

Absolutely the worst service I have ever received at a food establishment. Horrible service with disrespectful employees, dirty dining room and the staff had little to no knowledge of the menu. When they messed up my order for the third time, they realized there was an up-charge of 85 cents and took my credit card to swipe it again. I would recommend this restaurant to not even my enemies. If you want ice cream or a burger in a hurry this is not the place for you – it took them an extended period of time to fill the order(messed up the first time) and even longer when they did it the second time.

Not sure if they ever turn on the air conditioning in here. Also, the female working the register spends more time complaining than she does working. The cheeseburger patty was burnt. Go somewhere else.

Okay I’m going to be completely blunt about this DQ location– it’s horrible. The staff is rude and talks badly about customers after they walk away from the counter. The food is severely lackluster. Like okay I get that this is fast food, but that doesn’t mean my burger should look like it’s been to hell and back. I have been here twice and twice I have been disappointed. They also follow the trend of fast food joints that charge for sauce… or so it seems. One time I went through the drive-thru and asked for ranch and didn’t get charged. However on the inside I was charged a whopping 53 cents for a small container of ranch. Then the other employees snickered behind her. almost as if she was lying about me being charged. My girlfriend loves DQ, but I can assure you I will be finding another one.

I felt compelled to review this Dairy Queen because of the friendliness of the owner when she took my order in the drive thru. My grandma kind of sent me on a dummy mission because she was talking to her sister who lives in Maryland and her sister told her how good Dairy Queen’s fish sandwich and cheeseburger was. Her sister told her they had a 2 for $ 5 special on this. No matter how many times I explain to my lovely grandmother that promotions differ from state to state, she wanted that fish sandwich and burger. I pull up to the drive thru and I don’t see the fish sandwich. So I ask the young lady who came up over the speaker and she told me they do have one it just isn’t on the drive thru menu. Imagine my surprise when the fish sandwich and burger came up to less than $ 5 with tax. As I waited for the food, she chatted with me and offered me a cup of water(without me asking). She was so very polite and kind and you can tell it was genuine and not the fake customer service politeness. If I’m ever over here and have a random craving for a blizzard(which I haven’t in years), I will come here. #Yelp100

This dairy queen is a STAPLE on north ave. It is like a good friend. It’s always there when I need it.(Except when it is closed. Then I become very sad.) Drive through, dine in… it’s always appropriate. The people that work there are great. They turn the blizzard upside down and everything when they give it to you. They are happy. They make my peanut buster parfait PERFECT every single time. I unfortunately, can’t get enough. When I hit age 40, maybe my body will start rejecting peanut buster parfaits on its own — I hope. I don’t really have the type of self-control necessary to not participate in such delights.

Nuts and bolts: Went there simply because I had an after-work craving. Went through the drive thru, so I cannot comment on the interior. It is a bit of a rundown building– not fancy DQ here. But I was happy that is was a brazier and didn’t serve only ice cream. Pros: The service was really great. The guy asked if I needed everything before I could even ask. I mean– really superb. Cons: Unfortunately, the food. IDK what was up with the ice cream. It wasn’t my regular blizzard. It didn’t seem to have as much flavor. The fries were HORRENDOUS. BTW, they do not have a medium size. They were cooked to long and had no salt whatsoever. Probably some of the worst fries I have ever had. And I takes alot for me to want to throw away fries. :-( Neutral: They don’t stay open too late. Take home: Try another location.

It’s Dairy Queen. They’ve got dairy products down pat. The location is junky, and the patrons are questionable. But somehow the staff managed to still be very friendly. My food came out slow, but I could tell it was very fresh when I got it so no objections there. Really, Dairy Queen has a good product. They just need to polish up their franchises on the east coast. Go to one in Seattle and you will be impressed.

I went in today and it had to have been 100 degrees inside, even thought it was only 83 outside. Someone explain that one to me. It was literally too hot to sit in there. I got through the first layer of my blizzard and realized they hadn’t mixed it at all, so it was all just vanilla ice cream. Who likes plain vanilla ice cream? I threw it out, I’m still pissed.

To the extent that we only use the drive though and have only bought soft serve treats, this review is tempered a bit. But when it comes to this sort of limited drive through experience, this DQ stands head and shoulders above all the others I have ever been to. The man who I talked to and the lady who served us may have been the franchisees but they were so nice that I could not deny them a 4 star thumbs up. Btw, Unilocal shows the wrong map location for them. The«N» in their address means«North Avenue».

As soon as I move to a new place, I locate the nearest DQ. I lived in Decatur and used to frequent the one on the edge of the Agnes Scott campus. Now I go to this one and am equally happy. The service is friendly, the food is fast. They turn the blizzards upside-down when they serve them(I have a strong belief that all DQs should do this). I do wish the seating area was a little cleaner, but they did score high on their health inspection. There’s a large area in this particular restaurant with no seats. I like to think is a dance floor(who wouldn’t want their prom or wedding to involve DQ?). Perhaps I’m fooling myself, but going to DQ gives me a feeling that I’m supporting a middle-class family. Perhaps, my ice cream paid a percentage of the franchise owner’s oldest daughter’s college fees. Even if this is not true, I highly recommend believing it because it makes me feel that much happier about my ice cream. Yes, perhaps it’s not healthy for your cardiovascular system, but it’s definitively good for the soul.

I’m tired of this«pretend to be good for you» froyo trend. Sometimes I want hormone and pesticide filled(if that’s even possible) ice cream, blended with unnatural food colorings and corn syrup filled candies. When that mood strikes, you will find me in the drive-thru at this Dairy Queen, hoping that no one sees me, ordering a mint Oreo blizzard. It comes out shocking neon-green, but don’t let that scare you. Don’t you know mint leaves are supposed to be fluorescent? Sign up for their Blizzard Lover’s Club and they’ll email you 2-for-1 coupons once a month. Now just to find a friend I can share this embarrassing addiction with…

A-ok for me. Only went through the d/t but the employees were really nice and patient with my indecisiveness. I never travel down north ave, I’m always on the adjacent ponce. I love that DQ is in my neighborhood! now I can get my chilli-cheese hot dogs and greasy ass cheeseburgers and dilly bars, and banana splits, and slushy floats and of course the blizzards… oh how i heart the blizzards

I stopped by DQ today with my non-adventurous eating friend. She has been going to this location for years because she loves the chicken strip basket(comes with fries and some toast). I have to admit, I’m a huge fan too. Today she ordered the chili dog and it was good. This location is super clean and I noticed they got a 99 on their health inspection, which is more than some fancy pants places get. The service was VERY friendly and while yes, this is fast food, it was really fast. The french fries were hot and pretty damn good. If you’re looking for fast food on North Ave., go to DQ. The staff is really nice and I think it’s family owned. I have only been twice, but my friend who goes quite a bit said they never mess up her order. And who can resist a dilly bar or a cone with that chocolate hard dip stuff?
