This is the real deal… not squirting blue liquid onto ice… nice little joint…

This place is a well kept secret. As a native new yorker, I miss nothing more than Italian ice on a hot day. Needless to say I was quite surprised when I saw the sign when I moved into the neighborhood a few years ago. Good ice cream, even better Italian ice. There aren’t very many places to find anything close to resembling Italian ice in the metro, this hits the spot.

They have a new number.. They are a best kept secret. My favorite flair is passion fruit and lemonade. These cold treats are always a part of my summer. They sell Italian ice by the tubs for events that serve fifty and you can even rent the cart! Awesome for kids birthdays and cookouts. Weve gotten some tubs for several events and everyone was Highly Impressed.

To say that my husband and I are regulars and well known at this family run establishment would be an understatement. From the moment we came across Cole’s while just taking a drive to survey our neighborhood Cole’s had become our go to spot for icy cold goodness. Being a native New Yorker I was constantly looking for a correct version of Italian Ice, one in which the consistancy, flavors, and level of sugar melded into the tangy tastes I had known as a child on the corners of Manhattan and Cole’s delivers. My husband on the other hand has a penchant for their ice cream(black walnut/butter pecan) to be exact. But the finisher to Coles is that being a family run establishment it can become you’re very own personal ‘cheers’ …where everybody knows your name and your fav flavor(lemon/cherry to be exact)!

I like this place because it’s family owned and they are constantly trying to improve their flavors to make sure everything tastes the best. Many of the ices are simple flavors. I go by color, more than actual flavor. The blue one I like is apparently raspberry. The two red ones are good… either Cherry or Strawberry. The ice gets scraped into a cup and you have a delicious, icey feast to indulge yourself. I only stop in when I’m in the area, but sometimes it seems to require an Italian Ice just to make my day. Those days require a special trip out to Memorial. Check them out if you’re in the area. It’s a nice business with good Italian ice. Yumm!
