Loved the interiors and the music. I ordered two shrimp tacos, and a side of guac. My friend had a shrimp burrito. Being from Cali, I was a little nervous. The burrito looked great and he wolfed it down. The tacos were good, but not great. The tortillas were delicious. The guac was a little… I don’t know, but it didn’t do it for me. Will definitely go again, and give a burrito a try. The staff couldn’t have been nicer.

Disclaimer: I’m from California, which completely changes my expectations and reception. I’d read so much about Bell St. that when I was stationed in a branch on that side of town this week, it was my first lunch stop. The guy behind the counter was supernice, which goes a long way with me — so far, in fact, that I’m not going to whine and moan about the curious lack of running water, which limited my drink choices to bottled drinks and previously brewed tea. Pros: Fatty McFatFat burrito that served as lunch, dinner & evening snack. Pico-topped guac that was, albeit decent, not superspecial, but not too overpriced. CHIPS! If you like light, thin, well-seasoned, and hot, you love these chips. I wanted to just pour them down my throat and smack my lips like I didn’t know any better. Cons: only pinto beans? I don’t really like pinto beans, and I wonder if they’re cooked in pork, because my tum did start roiling before I left the parking lot(I don’t really eat much meat, so that’s about me, not them). Overall, I’d go back. I definitely want to try the potato quesadilla, and scarf down more salsa. I’m a little sad that the chips are not strong enough to fight the melted jack cheese or stubborn pintos, but I can live with that. Yay(as if I needed another place to stuff my face on Howell Mill)!

Well, I’m the Duke so I better write a review… Bell Street is my new favorite lunch destination. The tacos and burritos here, as mentioned in other reviews, remind me of the Mission style Mexican food in Northern California. The burritos are fat and short, good luck getting the entire thing into your(dirty) mouth. My favorite part is that they melt the cheese with a steam press before loading up the burrito, something that most of the sad burrito joints fail to do. Most of the time, however, I eat 2 or 3 taco’s. I get them Chipotle style, it adds just the right amount of heat. Again, with the tacos they melt the cheese; this time in-between two corn tortillas. That’s another«Win», corn versus flour tortillas. I don’t know why so many taquerias out there are opposed to flavor… Cheer Wine on tap. Gross… but I understand why so many people find that to be a beloved novelty. I’ll stick with my Barq’s Root Beer or a sweet tea. Apparently in back there is a little porch that you can sit on and order at the counter in back, but I tried to go there a couple weeks ago and the back porch looked defunct — I’ll have to investigate that further on my next trip. These taco’s are Americanized, but delicious. I know that other people will tell you they don’t compare to Taqueria Del Sol and some other popular joints in the area, but Bell Street is my jam. Back off. Also, the service is nice, but uh, everyone seems kinda depressed. Not like they are unhappy at work, just like they are unhappy in general. I dunno, maybe it’s because I’m such a colorful person…

Was super excited to go to this place and was totally disappointed. The guy at the counter was fairly arrogant. I ordered a steak burrito which came with rice and beans and then the fixings of my choosing. They up charge for almost everything which I was fine with because this is standard at even the most basic of burrito places. This was one of the grossest things I’ve ever eaten. It was about 80% beans with just some random pieces of steak in there. The cheese congealed in the rice forming into a huge block and then there was just a smattering of the other toppings in there. Way too many jalapeños, too little lettuce. A burrito is such a simply delicious thing and this place really missed the mark!

The hubs has been wanting to check this place out for a while, and we finally made it over this weekend for lunch. Not the cheapest place in town for burritos, but the quality of the ingredients was better than most and the service was also good. The cheese in the burrito is melted, which I have never experienced before. I think I prefer it unmelted as I find I can taste it more that way. The chicken is stewed and shredded, which gives it a very nice flavor but can get lost in the mix when used in a burrito. I will get steak next time for that reason, I think. The key thing at Bell Street is to get your burrito grilled. It costs 50 cents more, but it is well worth it — think burrito in quesadilla clothing and think delicious, buttery goodness with a little crunch. Cheese dip was solid with nice pieces of pickled jalapenos in it, although maybe a little overpriced. Cheerwine on the soda fountain was a nice touch. They also have Coke in glass bottles(big ones), which I’m always a fan of as it just seems to taste better. Also kid friendly but not overrun with kids. Looking forward to a return trip when my next burrito craving hits.

Chicken is stewed not grilled. Burrito was rolled poorly so it becomes a mess while you eat. Taste was bland and required ample sauce they provide to be at least a little enjoyable. I ordered Guacamole and it was not great. Disappointing that they serve the gauc with around 50% tomato/pico on top. Service was not good they couldn’t take my order correctly and had a «could care less about you» attitude. Price wasn’t cheap by any means. Would not go back and would recommend trying somewhere else.

I like this place a lot. Like I used to like the old defunct Tortillas on Ponce. Do you remember those burritos? These are an updated version, in my opinion. Burritos are solid. Tacos are street style. Good offering of flavors and ingredients and a nice departure from Willy’s and Moe’s. And come on… don’t we all need a departure from Willy’s and Moe’s? Hipstery types working behind the counter. Very friendly. No attitude. A mix of clientele. All in all a good go-to place. Kid friendly, too. Yes, Cheerwine is on the fountain. A nice surprise for newcomers. Only one complaint. If you’re going to go the route of calling out people’s names when their food is ready, then please yell the names loud enough. I missed my food twice due to mousy sounding call-outs. It can loud in there when crowded, so please call out the names a little louder. Burrito and taco lovers should give this place a try. Easy parking and in a cute house turned into a restaurant.

I’ve lived less than a block from this place and was finally able to visit today. From the reviews on here I was expecting the BESTBURRITOOFMYLIFE. What I got was super cheesy with gooey rice and hardly any meat. I ordered the pork with green chiles. It was really tasty, but I wasn’t very impressed. In addition to that the meager amount of ‘bottom of the bag’ chips that were tossed into my tray was sad. At 4:30 in the afternoon, my party was the only customers in the place. I don’t know if this is the norm or not, but it’s questionable. The interior if nice, the lady at the counter was helpful when I told her that it was my first time there. All in all, I would take someone there if we were in a rush to get something to eat due to its location. But I wouldn’t choose here over other places.

This is my go-to burrito spot. I think enough has been said about the burritos in other reviews. So let’s talk quesadillas. They’re pretty amazing here. Try the pork with green chiles. Oh — here’s a valuable tip: get the salsa/chilies on the side. Otherwise they tend to get a little soggy. As always, the chips are light and crispy. I love this place.

I feel guilty. I didn’t like my green chili and pork burrito. I thought it was mushy with no taste. Couldn’t even get any taste up with the sauces. I know I’m old and my taste buds are also old but I think they still work. I could not recommend this place. The chips are, however some of the best I have had.

I noticed this new place on Howell Mill, a street I find myself driving constantly. I was hungry so decided to try. Nice décor, nice person at the front, many the food came out reasonably fast and good(though nothing special, but not at all bad.) But the thing that turned me off was I asked for unsweetened tea and was told that it was only sweetened. What other options? Coke with sugar, and«Mexican Coke» with twice the sugar. «Nothing with out sugar?» Water. I love water like anyone else, but I like a bit of flavor in my drink, without the sugar. So I say«Just some feedback, without unsweeten tea or something else to drink without sugar I doubt I’ll return.» The really nice guy behind the desk says«I’ll tell the owner but I doubt it will matter, the owner is really stubborn that way.» So only three stars for decent food but for an owner who is evidently too stubborn to consider reasonable requests from customers(if the front desk guy mischaracterized then I can always revise.)

I have had better. The burritos were seriously ok. I actually enjoy Moe’s better and that says a lot. These were overpriced and under-whelming. And the wait time was absolutely crazy with no one in line. Say what!!! Save your money and go somewhere else.

I had been meaning to try this place. Opening the new location near Howell Mill and I-75 made the move an easy one for me since I pass by on the way to and from work. I love this place! The burritos are awesome and are a throwback to the days when Atlanta had three or four bonafide San Francisco style burrito joints; before all the multiple locations of sanitized corporate burriteria chains(like Willy’s, Chipotle, Moes, Barberitos, and Qdoba) started opening up and spreading, like wildfire, to all the various metro retail areas. Aspects of BSB seem to draw from old tried and true(and now defunct) burrito joints like Mean Bean, Frijoleros, and Tortillas(and perhaps also Taco Stand in Athens). On this particular outing I opted for the Chicken burrito with rice, beans, cheese, sour cream and green salsa. I also opted for a combo which included a Mexican Coke and extra chips /salsa(red and green). The chicken meat seemed to be stewed instead of the typical grilled and cubed breast meat chicken like you get at the aforementioned multi-location chains. The rice was flaky and moist, a nice change form the often undercooked Spanish /Mexican rice(or the overly tangy cilantro /lime infused rice) also found at the multi-location chains. I have only been here for one(my first) visit and am looking forward to numerous future visits. As the son of a born and bred North Carolinian I do appreciate the Cheer Wine option on the self-serve soda fountain.

PICTUREHERE: I really wanted to like this place. It’s new, and close… plus it has a really nice hand painted sign. The sign looks great. The food on the other hand, sucks. EVERY menu item we ordered was messed up in some way or another. The green chiles were canned. The beef was SUPER dry. So was the pork… and it was flavorless on top of it. The chicken was the same way. The cat wouldn’t even touch it… and that says a lot, since she eats literally EVERYTHING. The worst part of the whole thing was the GD sopapilla. It was burned beyond recognition on the bottom. PLUS, you could see where the most burned parts had been PULLEDOFF by the cook, like he thought it would just be cool and I wouldn’t notice. Thanks, Dick. We threw the whole damned order in the garbage. This is gringo/hipster wanna-be Mexican. It SUCKS. I didn’t see a real Mexican in the whole pIace. The kitchen is full of stoned looking, mustache & tight pants crew types. I don’t even want my money back… you fools can keep it. You need it more than I do anyway, since you’re going to fade into oblivion just like 20 other places that have tried to do business in that crappy location… ESPECIALLY with your«Comida del Basura» themed cuisine.

I’m a Bell Street fan and have been going to the original location for a couple years, at least it seems like that long. My allegiance is with Bell Street and I say fuck Tomatillos in East Atlanta(If you don’t know what I’m talking about, learn the back story). The owner of Bell Street has taken his open Christianity to a new level at this location, which is what it is. I definitely now describe the place as a Christian burrito place when I talk about it with friends and coworkers. I excitedly went here for lunch with a co-worker a couple weeks ago. The parking is a bit of a pain seemingly only to be made worse when the house whose garage abuts the parking lot is finished in short time. My co-worker is a family man with 2 kids and noticed there are only 2 booths in the place. Most of the tables are 2 seaters that can be moved easily enough. The chairs are easy to tip if you’ve got a kid in them. You order amongst the tables, which is a bit awkward when the place fills up. The burritos at this location seem bigger than Sweet Auburn, but I haven’t been to the Sweet Auburn location in a minute, for the same price. My coworker got a chicken burrito and I the potato, green chile, and broccoli. Both were very good. Salsas continue to be killer(in a good way). We got some guacamole, but it didn’t really add anything to the meal. I’ll certainly be going back, particularly since I work in the area, and partly to see how the Christian lingo on the sign on the street changes(Said something about the Savior this last time). Several of my coworkers have been recently as well. More than one has compared it to Chipotle minus the lime flavored rice plus being locally owned. For a vegetarian, Bell Street is one of the best burrito places out there(much better than Chipotle). I highly recommend the green chiles as a burrito or at least burrito component. Cheerwine in the fountain machine is a nice touch, particularly for those of us with North Carolina blood in us. All in all, certainly my favorite Christian burrito place and ranks up there with my favorites in the city.

I ate here in early/mid December. I used to live not too far from this location, but moved out prior to BSB moving in. Boy, is that a bugger now. I ordered the steak and shrimp burrito, minus the salsa. I made it a combo, having not read the reviews on here. The chips were delicious, not too thick but not too brittle either. But the burrito … oh, it’s huge. I could have made two meals out of just that, even without the chips. I stopped a quarter of the way through and took a pic of the burrito just to post on Facebook. Cutline: Steak and shrimp burrito. Officially the best thing I’ve ever eaten. It was so freaking good. I can’t wait to get back to BSB, next time I’m up in the Howell Mill area.

Let me first just say, these things are massive. Pair it with chips, 2 salsas, and a drink for $ 2.50 and you can be stuffed for ~$ 9.50. I had a chicken burrito with the hot salsa and all the free add-ins and it was far superior to Moe’s and Willy’s burritos, and on par with Chipotle and Qdoba. The meat was packed with flavor however, but it was advertised as a chicken burrito, not a specialty. But the real winner here: Cheerwine in the soda fountain.

Woohoo for Bell Street Burritos opening a 2nd location close to where I live. Fellow Unilocaler Marty J. and I met here for lunch two Saturdays ago. In an effort to spread the word, Bell Street mailed $ 5 coupons to residents in surrounding neighborhoods. Both Marty and I received these postcards, so what more motivation did we need? Bell Street Burritos opened last month in the old Social House(brunch place) space. The building looks like an old house that was later converted into a restaurant. The restaurant sits very close to the busy Howell Mill-Chattahoochee intersection. Depending on where you’re coming from or where you’re going to, you might consider entering/exiting outside the back driveway via Holmes St. The parking lot is small, but you should be able to find a space. Bell Street serves Mission-style burritos. «Mission» referring to the Mission district of San Francisco(e.g. La Taqueria on Mission St, which I tried last year: ). These are the same huge, thick burritos filled with rice, beans, and other ingredients that have now become popular and common in Atlanta thanks to places like Moe’s and Chipotle. Bell Street now gives me a good alternative to Willy’s just up the road. The menu offers a simple selection of burritos, quesadillas, and tacos with a variety of vegetables and protein. Marty and I split a chicken burrito, steak quesadilla, and a sopapilla(tortilla fried with butter, honey, and cinnamon). It was good stuff. The burritos and quesadillas run anywhere from $ 5 – 7 each and you can add extra ingredients, such as guac and green chiles, at additional cost. Tacos are served in soft flour tortillas and run a couple bucks each. You can add chips, salsa, and a drink to any order for $ 2.50 more. First, the chips and salsa. These were served hot from the fryer. Some of chips still had a glisten to them. The chips were thin and oftentimes delicate. I like these kinds of tortilla chips. They were served with a red and green salsa. Both thin and a little runny, but still good. The chicken burrito was solid. It was packed with plenty of hearty chunks of tender, white meat chicken, pinto beans, and melted cheese. We also added grilled onion to the burrito, which was money. I’ll probably add more extra ingredients to my burrito next time I come. The steak quesadilla was very good. I added extra cilantro, jalapenos, tomato, grilled onion, and green salsa at no cost(free extras). The ingredients were fresh and the jalapenos were nice and spicy. Adding salsa to the quesadilla made it a little soggy and messy to eat, so I’m not sure if I would add salsa again. The steak was tender and flavorful. Finally, the sopapilla was delicious. It’s hard to eat without using your hands and since there’s butter, honey, and cinnamon involved, your fingers will get sticky. This is a delectable dessert, though, and everyone should try it if they’ve never had one before. The tortilla was thin and expectedly super sweet. Service was excellent. Both the lady working the register(Molly E.) and the person who appeared to be the manager, also serving food from the kitchen, were great. They looked like a husband-wife or brother-sister duo with their matching outfits and glasses. They were very friendly and made sure we had a good experience. There were only a couple of hiccups. The fountain drink machine was out of ice, so the lady at the register had to serve the ice. The window curtain on the south side of the restaurant kept falling down, causing all of us to turn around and look at the startled customers who sat next to it. Oh and one great thing about this place — the fountain drink machine serves Cheerwine.

Visited the new location on the second night it was open. Ordered a burrito with slow-cooked pork. I thought the burrito was well-put together. Nice steamed tortilla, pinto beans, and delicious, tender meat. Prices aren’t much more expensive than Willy’s or Moe’s, but the quality is a definite upgrade. They also have tacos in corn tortillas and quesadillas. No alcohol is being served, but it’s BYOB. Guacamole comes in small containers with pico de gallo on top of it. They don’t make their own chips or tortillas, but they source quality products. Atmosphere is spartan, with folksy knick knacks hung on the walls, and a giant metal fan hanging from the ceiling in the center of the restaurant. We talked to the owner for a while, and he was very friendly. Nice to support local small business owners.

Fresh ingredients + thick salsa verde + 10 dollar meal = high priced burrito I’m all about the freshy fresh but the price is what gets me. The restaurant is on the small side, the burrito is on the huge side, the ingredients are on the fresh side. But it’s still not my cup o tea. If you like salsa, the salsa verde is the best i’ve had from a resto.
