I was here for Paint by Numb3rs, a monthly event held at the gallery. The gallery has extensive African-American artwork of all types – some available for purchase. It’s really easy to get to – it’s right off of I-20 and is across the street from the Westview cemetery. The owner was very personable and did his best to ensure everyone was comfortable. The space is expansive and can be rented out for events.

An extensive gallery featuring African American art resides on the fifth floor of a yellow building you can’t help but see off of Highway I-20, only 5 minutes from downtown. The space is huge and there is no wall space unoccupied. The artist/owner Andre Thompson has been working in the industry for years and finally made this space his home not too long ago. The work on display and for sale is created primarily by local artists. Sometimes you can catch the gallery doing a special showing with the resident artists in attendance. If you are a collector or even just looking for an original piece to round out the dcor in your home, you should at give Art on 5 a look. The space is also available for private events and receptions. The gallery was also a featured venue during the National Black Arts Festival in 2006. There is ample parking and the art gallery is easy to find off of Martin Luther King drive.
