Went late evening for tapa dinner. Tamale best ever good Sangria with Orange liquor. Service excellent and frendly of course was quiet night. Salmon chevicha tasty appetizer. Recommend the tomatilly salsa.

This was the most AMAZING culinary experience I have had in a LOOONG time. Derrick was my restaurant tour guide and recommended the best Chicken Mole dish and the two margaritas I had were beyond exceptional. The chicken mole came with a plantain«mash» which complimented the chocolate based mole perfectly. Since I was already on the culinary happy trail I ordered the Ixapataco flourless cake(I probably spelled that incorrectly but you won’t care once you have a taste of the BEST chocolate cake in the entire Galaxy). A fine dining out of this world experience that you absolutely have to experience for yourself!

This Restaurant was amazing from start to finish. Once we opened the front door the décor and mood setting were elegant. The Restaurant was Very nicely lit, as we sat inside facing outside. there was a very tranquil and peaceful courtyard. Wow the food!!! This was the best place we ate on our trip to ATL. It is a must if you are downtown around Peach-tree. I must say the Cobia Ceviche was mouth watering, crisp and surpasses fresh. The combination of flavors where extraordinary. I also had the Ny strip which was cooked to a perfect Mid Rare. The sauce had hints of chocolate and was great with glass of Californian Pinot Noir. Wifey had Fried Avocados. This dish also had some very fulfilling qualities. Thank You so for this cherished experience!

They have an excellent gluten free menu! I have Celiac Disney and did not get sick eating here. The only thing I wished was different was where we sat. We were seated in between a big group of businessmen and a lovey dovey couple that couldn’t keep their hands off each other. I would have stayed for dessert(which looked wonderful!) but they made me feel uncomfortable. There were many other tables in the restaurant we could have been seated at, minor thing that didn’t take away from how wonderful their food was! LOVED the guacamole and salsa sampler! They food was a little bit more pricey than I’m used to. The decorations were so cool too. If I’m ever in Atlanta again I would definitely come back!

Ewllllllllll!!! Worst food ever! First time I had to give a waitress $ 1 for a tip. 1st, she recommended our food(worst decision ever)! 2nd, after we told her it was so disgusting we couldn’t eat it, she just said ok. I ask her for a box to take it to go because I’d rather give it to a homeless person instead of just throwing it out. She said ok, there’s a lot of homeless people here. Not once did she ask can I take it back and bring you something else or get manager! It was my sister birthday dinner and she couldn’t eat her food. Ugh! I hate this place

An excellent place! Food, service, mood, atmosphere, they were all great. Our waiter explained everything and gave us great recommendations. We ordered the salmon ceviche which wasn’t really a ceviche and not the best I ate but still yummy. We also ordered the empanadas and fish tacos both delicious! The margaritas were so good, quality alcohol, strong and interesting :) All and all a very good experience especially after trying to find a decent place to eat around here that isn’t deep fried… I highly recommend :)

Good, not impressive. Scallops were good. Service, meh. Drinks small. Expensive for what you get.

Atmosphere — The restaurant is located right next to the lobby in the 191 Peachtree Towers office complex which is adjacent to the Ritz Carlton downtown. They have an indoor dining area and a patio and bar area which sits off the lobby of the office tower, which is where we ate. Even though we weren’t actually sitting«outside», it gave the feeling of being outdoors with the view of the atrium skylight and real trees in the lobby. Service — Our server was very nice and attentive. Cocktails — I had two cocktails. I started off with the Fuego Sur(mango-habanero infused Herradura Reposado, Woodford Rsv. bourbon, organic mango liqueur, lemon juice, tea, salted pecan simple.) It was spicy, sweet, and tart. I loved it! My second cocktail was the El Clásico Margarita on the rocks. I didn’t really care for it. It was a weak drink. Three people in my party of six shared two bottles of red wine which they enjoyed. Food — We shared the Chips, Guac & Salsa Tasting appetizer which was served with unlimited baskets of yellow corn tortilla chips and plantain chips served with six samplings of salsas and guacamoles(fire-roasted tomato, tomatillo-avocado, and salsa negra). They were good. I ordered appetizer serving of the Empanadas which were tasty. Unfortunately, they were not stuffed with any meat, but only epazote. The ranchero sauce that it was served with was delicious. My buddy shared an order of Carnitas Tacos with me. They were okay. Price — For Latin American Cuisine, some dishes like the tacos were pricey, but the cocktails and empanadas were reasonably priced for the location. Parking — FREE parking in office tower parking garage(Restaurant validates parking ticket) Overall I give the restaurant a total rating of 4 stars. Atmosphere — 4 stars Service — 5 stars Cocktails — 3 stars Food — 3 ½ stars Price — 3 stars

Great spot downtown that was near the hotel i stayed at. Dark inside, cozy atmosphere. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Started with guac and chips. Fresh made chips were very good. Guac was excellent as well. Usually you get chips on the house but not here. The fish tacos were very good. Fried fish with cabbage slaw and pickled jalapenos. Good balance of flavors. Seeved with rice and beans. The drink here were nothing special. Talked up but prettty bland. The food was good overall and service was too.

Hubs and I visited Alma’s while on a business trip to the ATL. What a wonderful experience we had at this place! Our server, OLIVIA, was so energetic, attentive, helpful with menu options, and just all-around fun. The food was… OMG…so GOOD! We opted for tacos. Hubs got the cod and I got the lamb. Both were delish! We capped our meal off with churros, of course. They came with two dipling sauces, one a salty caramel and the other one chocolate… YUM! Combine the sauces and experience a small piece of heaven. If you’re ever in Atlanta on Peachtree and are looking for a place to eat, go to this place and ask for Olivia!

This restaurant has two different seating areas. I was happy to be placed in the bright, open space with a glass ceiling, kind of inside the mall area. Even though we were further from the other diners, they gave us fast and friendly table service, which was perfect since I had to go back to work. They offered a lunch special, and I went with the pork tacos. They came out quickly as promised and with a lot of flavor. They are very greasy, so keep your napkins close! The rice and beans that come with it are a nice side. I was pretty full on the amount of food, but not stuffed, which is fine by me. For those of you looking for a large meal and have the money to pay for it, I would try ordering some guac or another appetizer to fill you up. They accidentally charged us for the wrong item on the menu so our meals were each $ 2 more than they should be, but I didn’t notice until after we had paid. I’m sure they would have refunded it if we brought it to their attention, but we didn’t have time that day. Overall, it’s a great place to stop in for a quick lunch, and I would definitely like to come back to get a full dinner there!

Swanky joint… Latin with a Mexican twist. Even though they advertise that it is a Mexican place, don’t expect complimentary chips and salsa!

This is one of the better Mexican places I have ever had the chance to eat at, I was not expecting this in Atlanta. All of the drinks we tried at this place were amazing and well worth every penny. We tried the guacamole and salsa sampler to start and they were all amazing, they give you three different flavors of each. For dinner I had the steak tacos, you can tell they are using fresh ingredients in the food because it all tasted perfect. I had a slight problem with my order, but Jason, the manager came over and got it all sorted out. I have to give a place credit for having such good management to come over and admit they had a problem and see to it we were taken care of. I look forward to going back to this place next time I am in town.

A great experience overall. The food was great & we paid $ 54 for two: A mezcal drink An ice cube cocktail Chips and salsa Hand made tortillas Braised goat huarache Huitlacoche empanada Can’t remember what the name of the first ice cube drink on the menu was but I got that one. It tasted like a pins colada by the end of the meal, once the ice cube was all melted. Really cool experience. Very different and worth the $ 14. The huitlacoche empanadas were surprisingly delicious! There was 2 for $ 8 and it was a sizable amount of food. The huitlacoche was melted with cheese and there was a puréed vegetable«sauce». The chips and salsa were also good. The salsa was really good: good flavor, not super chunky. $ 3 The hand made tortillas were excellent! They were small, but perfectly salted! We will be getting these again! $ 2 for 3 tortillas The braised goat huarache was nice but slightly spicy(I have 0 tolerance for spice though). The sautéed greens(collard?) were slow cooked deliciousness and the Peruvian beans were a nice touch. There was a mound(a big one) of braised goat for $ 15 and we were impressed. The only negative part of our visit was the initial walking in. We didn’t have a reservation and were waiting for a seat at the bar. It was awkward to wait though because we had to stand around and we weren’t sure if we could sit at tables near the front or not. Awkward. Their seating system was also weird because they had tons of empty tables but said they were booked until 8:30 and at least two of the tables were empty our entire visit… But they still didn’t seat anyone there. Overall it was a good experience.

Alma Cocina is located in 191 Peachtree Tower and as a patron of the restaurant, you are welcomed to park in the garage below the restaurant and have your parking validated. If you’ve never been, the Tower is very nice and the inside of Alma Cocina, although a bit small, is decorated with the same level of exquisiteness. Sadly to say, my great impressions of this restaurant end there. We started off with an order of guacamole and it was normal, nothing special. For a second appetizer, we ordered the Fried Chihuahua Cheese, served with salsa verde and soft corn tortillas. At $ 11, this choice was not only a huge disappointment but also incredibly overpriced. The cheese, served very hot, was stringy and hard to eat and also hard to share. The salsa verde was very, very spicy. Between the three of us, we barely made it a quarter of the way through the dish. Based on the server’s recommendation, I ordered the lobster tacos for my main. The lobster tacos come three to an order and are topped with red chile butter, guasacaca, pickled apple, jicama, and charred red onion, with a side of rice and beans. I like the creativity and presentation of the lobster tacos and I feel that the light seasoning was intentional to bring out the flavor of the lobster, which is very well executed – you can definitely«taste» the lobster in each bite, as opposed to it being drowned out by other flavors or sauces. My one gripe about the lobster tacos is that it overflows with red chile butter, so much so that there’s butter dripping from the taco as you’re eating, making it somewhat difficult to enjoy. Otherwise, this was a good choice. For dessert, we ordered the Coconut Tres Leches, topped with passion fruit cream on top of a passion fruit sauce. This dessert was probably the highlight of the meal. The cake is creamy and the tangy passion fruit sauce is a perfect complement of flavors. As with any fifth group restaurant, service was top notch. I really wanted to love Alma Cocina so much more than I actually did. I’ve love to try it again one day, give this place another shot, but until then, my experience was lackluster.

Alma Cocina is a modern Mexican and Latin American restaurant that opened in downtown Atlanta in late 2011. «Alma cocina» is Spanish for soul kitchen. The restaurant is located on the ground level of the 191 Peachtree Tower office building. The exterior storefront faces Peachtree St. An interior storefront with patio-esque seating faces the adjacent Ritz-Carlton hotel. Alma Cocina is a Fifth Group restaurant. Examples of other restaurants in this network include South City Kitchen, Ecco, and La Travola Trattoria. Fifth Group restaurants are generally nicer, popular, and quite good. With these loftier-than-average expectations, Alma Cocina turned out to be a bit of a letdown for me. While the service and ambiance were excellent, the food was just okay. We stopped in for dinner where the menu features items like huitlacoche(corn fungus, a Mexican delicacy) empanadas, beef cheek machaca(braised dried meat), tamales, ceviches, South American cazuela, huarache(masa topped with various ingredients), tacos, and seafood. At dinnertime, expect to spend about $ 8 – 12 each for most appetizers and $ 15 – 30 each for most entrees. I tried the following: * Corvina Sea Bass Ceviche — lime, pico de gallo, avocado mousse * Peruvian-style Red Snapper Ceviche — roasted sweet potato, corn, lime, aji amarillo sauce * Tamarind BBQ Lamb Ribs — mint sikil pak, smoked strawberry preserved Meyer lemon salpicon * Braised Goat Huarache — tomatillo de arbol sauce, chile rajas, queso cotija * Sauteed collards and Peruvian white beans Presentation was outstanding. The dishes looked appetizing, fun, and colorful. They were plated nicely. The ceviches work well as a snack or light meal. The Corvina Sea Bass Ceviche comes with a side of tortilla chips. Unfortunately, the chips that were served with the ceviche I tried were abnormally hard and quite possibly stale. Simply put, they were bad. The sea bass ceviche itself was A-OK. Refreshing and tangy. The same could not be said for the Peruvian Red Snapper Ceviche. The snapper fillets on this dish were rubbery and tasted unpleasantly fishy. I did enjoy the sweet potato, however. The sea bass ceviche was served in a glass while the red snapper ceviche was served on a long plate. The Tamarind Lamb BBQ Ribs were delicious. While this dish is listed under the appetizers, it can work as an entrée too. The ribs were served atop a green mint sikil pak, which is made from mint and a Yucatan pumpkin seed spread. Very good. The thick and hearty ribs came with plenty of sweet and sour tamarind BBQ sauce as well as small slices of Meyer lemon, which tasted similar to a tart orange.(Meyer lemons are considered a cross between lemons and Mandarin oranges.) The goat in the Braised Goat Huarache was shredded. The meat was seasoned well and flavorful, though it was also a tad tough and dry. The mild, finely crumbled, white cotija cheese was a nice touch. Alma Cocina’s huaraches come with sauteed collard greens cooked with Peruvian white beans. The collards and beans were tasty. They’re like a milder version of American Southern-style collards. As mentioned above, service was excellent. The manager, bartender, and server were all friendly and polite. Our server, Laura, knew the menu inside-out. Alma Cocina is a dimly lit, contemporary restaurant with a simple yet refined design. Atmosphere-wise, it’s a good choice for a date or nice meal. The restaurant is moderately sized. There are two bars, one inside and one«outside,» along with a mixture of booth and table seating. Park in the 191 Peachtree Tower parking garage which is on the backside of the building. The garage can be accessed via Peachtree Center Ave. The restaurant validates parking. Book your reservation on OpenTable and earn free dining points.

After a basketball game of watching the Hawks own Chicago Bulls, we made a short walk to the central downtown area and started searching for a meal. Perhaps it was the lack of judgement from all the overpriced Coronas that I’ve been drinking for the last two hours at the arena, but I didn’t even bother to check reviews on Unilocal. This was a classic example of getting extremely luck. The Warm and Romantic Interior: Everything had a yellowish orange tint projected on it from the stylish light fixtures. Similar round ones to those at Himitsu in Buckhead, but different color. The Inviting Staff: We showed up literally at closing time for serving food, yet they were kind to let us order and didn’t even rush us. Obviously, we tried to order as soon as possible, but many restaurants would have just turned you away at that point, especially when the decision is in a server’s as opposed to a manager’s hands. Awesome food: Guacamole and Salsa trio was awesome, will satisfy anybody at the table, from those who like milder to spicy food. Shredded goat was delicious. Oh, another must, you have to get their Fried Chihuahua Cheese. The presentation on it was amazing. Will be coming back and this is another amazing find downtown that I wish I had known before!

Best Mexican I’ve eaten in a long time! Quality ingredients and amazing cocktails. If you like aged rum try the«Patterson Holiday», its smooth and packs a punch. If Vanessa is bartening it’s guaranteed to be on point. I ordered the happy hour chicken tinga tostadas($ 5) can we take a pause for an orgamsic release??? Only complaint is that it’s a happy hour appetizer and not on main menu. Decisions, decisions… I decided to go with the pork carnitas w/a side of sweet plantains and wasn’t disappointed. I will DEFINITELY return when my travels bring me back to the ATL. I would caution to come early or with reservations because it fills up quickly.

SOGOOD. A great restaurant if you’re looking for a modern take on classic Mexican dishes in the heart of Atlanta. First of all, I love the interior of the restaurant, and it’s perfect for date night. I also thought that the food was reasonably priced. I ordered chips and guacamole as an appetizer. The guacamole is made in house and tastes very fresh. I also absolutely recommend the tortilla soup. It is not your typical tortilla soup — it’s a lot thicker and I would describe it as more of a Mexican tomato soup, topped with queso fresco and fried tortilla strips. However, it was delicious and filled me up! I also enjoyed the sangria, but be warned that it is not as sweet as sangrias from other restaurant. My friend ordered the«crop top» cocktail and I definitely recommend it for those who are wanting a sweeter drink! Overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Atlanta area! I’m gonna miss this place when I head back to the Midwest this weekend.

I don’t often rave about the cocktail, but the Fuego Sur here was awesome! This drink has a little kick to it and the ingredients worked in harmony with one another — mango-habanero infused Herradura Reposado, Woodford Rsv. bourbon, organic mango licqueur, lemon juice, tea, salted pecan $ 10. The atmosphere was great and the restaurant seems to be busy every night. The menu is full of creativity and there were many things that looked good. We didn’t want to wait for a table so we sat by the bar. GUACAMOLE&SALSATASTING three guacamoles and three salsas $ 16 — This tasting was good, more than enough for 2 people. MEXICANSHRIMPANDGRITS hominy«grits,» chorizo rojo, pork belly $ 13 — It was on the bland side. COCONUTTRESLECHES passion fruit cream, passion fruit sauce $ 8 — Delicious!
